| 1 | Study on air flow dynamic characteristic of mechanical ventilation of a lung simulator显示文摘As an important life support treatment, mechanical ventilation is usually adopted in clinics. With the development of the res-piratory diagnostic and treatment technologies, air flow dynamics of mechanical ventilation is usually referenced in the evaluation of pulmonary status and assessment of respiratory therapy. In order to improve the ventilation efficiency and provide a reference for pulmonary diagnostics, in this paper, a new mathematical model of mechanical ventilation system was set up. Furthermore, a prototype mechanical ventilation system for an artificial simulating lung was designed and experimentally studied. Lastly, in order to improve the ventilation efficiency and provide a reference for pulmonary diagnostics, the air flow dynamics of the mechanical ventilation system was illustrated through simulation and experimental studies. | 2 | Construction of adaptive redundant multiwavelet packet and its application to compound faults detection of rotating machinery显示文摘It is significant to detect the fault type and assess the fault level as early as possible for avoiding catastrophic accidents.Due to diversity and complexity,the compound faults detection of rotating machinery under non-stationary operation turns to be a challenging task.Multiwavelet with two or more base functions may match two or more features of compound faults,which may supply a possible solution to compound faults detection.However,the fixed basis functions of multiwavelet transform,which are not related with the vibration signal,may reduce the accuracy of compound faults detection.Moreover,the decomposition results of multiwavelet transform not being own time-invariant is harmful to extract the features of periodical impulses.Furthermore,multiwavelet transform only focuses on the multi-resolution analysis in the low frequency band,and may leave out the useful features of compound faults.To overcome these shortcomings,a novel method called adaptive redundant multiwavelet packet(ARMP) is proposed based on the two-scale similarity transforms.Besides,the relative energy ratio at the characteristic frequency of the concerned component is computed to select the sensitive frequency bands of multiwavelet packet coefficients.The proposed method was used to analyze the compound faults of rolling element bearing.The results showed that the proposed method could enhance the ability of compound faults detection of rotating machinery. | CHEN JingLong ZI YanYang HE ZhengJia WANG XiaoDong | 2012 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,8: | 7 |
| 3 | Nonlinear distortion and spatial dispersion of intense terahertz generation in lithium niobate via the tilted pulse front technique显示文摘We systematically investigate the influences of the input infrared spectrum, chirp, and polarization on the emitted intense terahertz spectrum and spatial dispersion in lithium niobate via optical rectification. The terahertz yield and emission spectrum depend on both the chirp and spectrum of the input pump laser pulses. We also observe slight non-uniform spatial dispersion using a knife-edge measurement, which agrees well with the original predictions. | 4 | Direct site-specific treatment of skin cancer using doxorubicin-loaded nanofibrous membranes显示文摘Doxorubicin(DOX) is widely used in cancer therapy. However, its application is sometimes limited by its adverse cardiotoxicity and delivery pathways. In our study, we prepared a topical implantable delivery device for controlled drug release and site-specific treatment. The core region consisted of poly(lactic co-glycolic acid) and poly-caprolactone, whereas the shell region was composed of cross-linked gelatin.DOX was enclosed in the core region of a core-shell nanofiber obtained by electrospinning. This implantable delivery device was implanted on the top of the melanoma in a mouse model, which had shown a DOX-controlled release profile with sustained and sufficient local concentration against melanoma growth in mice with negligible side effects. Compared with the traditional intravenous administration,the implantable device allows precisely localized treatment and therefore can reduce the dose, decrease the injection frequency, and ensure antitumor efficacy associated with lower side effects to normal tissues. | 5 | Hypersonic flutter and flutter suppression system of a wind tunnel model显示文摘The aeroelastic behavior of a thin flat rudder model was numerically simulated and experimentally investigated in a hypersonic wind tunnel. In particular, a flutter suppression system taking advantage of collision within small gaps was proposed and a novel system for the flutter simulation of the whole nonlinear aeroelastic system including the flutter suppression system was developed. First, the critical flutter dynamic pressure of the rudder without the flutter suppression system was calculated with different methods. Then, the whole nonlinear aeroelastic system, including theflutter suppression system, was simulated to design the gap size. Finally, the flutter suppression system was experimentally validated in a hypersonic wind tunnel operating at Mach number 5. | 6 | Contrasting dynamic characteristics of shear turbulence and Langmuir circulation in the surface mixed layer显示文摘Large eddy simulation(LES) is used to investigate contrasting dynamic characteristics of shear turbulence(ST)and Langmuir circulation(LC) in the surface mixed layer(SML). ST is usually induced by wind forcing in SML. LC can be driven by wave-current interaction that includes the roles of wind, wave and vortex forcing. The LES results show that LC suppresses the horizontal velocity and greatly modifies the downwind velocity profile, but increases the vertical velocity. The strong downwelling jets of LC accelerate and increase the downward transport of energy as compared to ST. The vertical eddy viscosity Km of LC is much larger than that of ST. Strong mixing induced by LC has two locations. They are located in the 2ds–3ds(Stokes depth scale) and the lower layer of the SML,respectively. Its value and position change periodically with time. In contrast, maximum Km induced by ST is located in the middle depth of the SML. The turbulent kinetic energy(TKE) generated by LC is larger than that by ST. The differences in vertical distributions of TKE and Km are evident. Therefore, the parameterization of LC cannot be solely based on TKE. For deep SML, the convection of large-scale eddies in LC plays a main role in downward transport of energy and LC can induce stronger velocity shear(S2) near the SML base. PSD and BET analysis revealed the particles with sizes ranging from submicrometer to several micrometers and with a specific area of 13 nr/g. The measurement of hydraulic exotherm revealed that the exothermal rate is in peak for about 2 h. The exothermal quantities are 449.24 J/g at 12 h and 488.38 J/g at 24 h. | 18 | Claw-shaped flexible and low-impedance conductive polymer electrodes for EEG recordings: Anemone dry electrode显示文摘Electroencephalogram(EEG) signals provide important brain information in healthcare settings. Wet electrodes have several limitations, including their time-consuming preparation and no long-term acquisition, and dry electrodes have become a promising candidate. However, dry electrodes face several challenges related to signal quality, comfort, conductivity and cost.This study aims to develop and evaluate a novel dry electrode for EEG recordings. The electrode material properties are characterized by electrochemical, mechanical force, and skin measurements. The electrode performance is evaluated by comparing the impedance, signal-to-noise ratio(SNR), and EEG signal features of the proposed electrode with those of a wet electrode and two commercial dry electrodes. The dry electrode design is based on the biological structure of the sea anemone and demonstrates an improved scalp fit and reduced signal noise and motion artifacts. The electrode materials include advanced conducting polymers combined with thermoplastic elastomers(TPEs) and carbon nanotubes(CNTs), which exhibit good electrical conductivity, mechanical properties, and safety. A low-cost injection molding fabrication method is proposed. The dry electrodes show a scalp contact impedance of 7 kΩ at 20 Hz, which is lower than that of wet and commercial dry electrodes.Resting-state EEG and event-related potential signals collected by the anemone dry electrode achieved more than 90% similarity with signals acquired by wet electrodes. Thus, a low-cost, comfortable anemone dry electrode that exhibits excellent EEG recording performance is presented.
