| 1 | CARBON NANOTUBES VIA METHANE DECOMPOSITION ON AN ALUMINA SUPPORTED COBALT AEROGEL CATALYST显示文摘An alumina-supported cobalt aerogel catalyst prepared from a sol-gel and a supercritical drying method was used in the catalytic decomposition of methane. The physical-chemical properties of the catalyst were characterized and its activity for methane decomposition was investigated. The effects of calcination and reaction temperatures on the activity of the catalyst and the morphology of the carbon nanotubes produced were discussed. A CoAl2O4 spinel structure formed in the calcined catalyst. The quantity of the nanotubes produced in the reaction increases with the amount of cobalt in the reduced catalyst. A higher reaction temperature leads to a higher reaction rate, though faster deactivation of the catalyst occurs with the change. | 10 | Using the Dempster-Shafer Theory of Evidence to Rank Documents显示文摘Multi-source information can be utilized collaboratively to improve the performance of information retrieval. To make full use of the document and collection information, this paper introduces a new information retrieval model that relies on the Dempster-Shafer theory of evidence. Each query-document pair is taken as a piece of evidence for the relevance between a document and a query. The evidence is combined using Dempster's rule of combination, and the belief committed to the relevance is obtained. Retrieved documents are then ranked according to the belief committed to the relevance. Several basic probability assignments are also proposed. Extensive experiments over the Text REtrieval Conference (TREC) test collection ClueWeb09 show that the proposed model provides performance similar to that of the Vector Space Model (VSM). | 14 | CHARACTERIZATION AND ADSORPTION PROPERTIES OF POROUS CARBON NANOFIBER GRANULES显示文摘The properties of the porous granules produced by agglomeration of catalytically grown carbon nanofibers were investigated in this work. The single pellet crushing strength of the granules is high, e.g., 1.6-2.5 MPa. They have high specific surface areas, averaging 72-141 m2?g-1, and the majority of their pores are mesopores or macropores. The adsorption at 298 K of benzene or phenol on the granules is much lower than that on activated carbon and depends not only on the specific surface area of the carbon material but also on the sewing structure of the granules and the mor- phology of the carbon nanofibers. | 15 | The Existence of the Negative Charge of Gold in Sulphide Minerals and Its Formation Mechanism显示文摘Through a study, particularly an X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS or ESCA) analysis, of gold-bearing arsenopyrite and pyrite in Carlin-type gold deposits of Guangxi, China, and hydrothermally synthesized gold-bearing pyrite and marcasite, the authors have found that these minerals contain 'invisible gold' whose binding energy is lower than that of native gold (Au°). Therefore they suggest that gold occurs in a negative charge state in these sulphide minerals as it replaces some sulphur and is combined with sulphur with the covalent bond. | 18 | Whole-milk consumption decreases the risk of inflammatory bowel disease:a two-sample Mendelian rand omization analysis显示文摘Objective: The impact of dairy fat on inflammatory bowel disease remained inconclusive. We aimed to compare the effects of whole-milk and skimmed-milk consumption on the risk of inflammatory bowel disease using a Mendelian randomization analysis.Methods: We conducted a genome-wide association study of the preference for whole versus skimmed milk using data for 20,200 whole-milk consumers and 67,847 skimmed-milk consumers from the UK Biobank. The lead single nucleotide polymorphisms in the associated loci were identified at the genome-wide significance level, and were further employed as instrumental variables for whole-milk preference. We conducted a two-sample Mendelian randomization analysis with whole-milk preference as the exposure and inflammatory bowel disease as the outcome. The pleiotropic effects and heterogeneity of the instrumental variables were estimated using Mendelian randomization-Egger regression and CochranQ test, respectively. This study was conducted using the UKB resources under the application '53536' . The UK Biobank was approved by the North West Multi-center Research Ethics Committee, the National Information Governance Board for Health and Social Care in England and Wales, and the Community Health Index Advisory Group in Scotland.Results: The genome-wide association study identified five lead nucleotide polymorphisms associated with whole-milk preference. Mendelian randomization indicated that whole-milk preference significantly decreased the risk of inflammatory bowel disease (β=-1.735,P=0.048). Of the two subtypes, whole-milk preference was associated with a lower risk of Crohn disease (β=-2.549,P=0.032), but had no significant effect on the risk of ulcerative colitis (β=-1.002,P=0.44).Conclusion: Consumption of whole-milk fat may protect against Crohn disease, compared with skimmed milk. | 19 | Robust description and recognition of various viewpoint dynamic textures显示文摘The problem of recognizing natural scenes, such as water, smoke, fire, wind-blown vegetation and a flock of flying birds, is considered. These scenes exhibit the characteristic dynamic pattern, but have stochastic extent. They are referred to as dynamic texture(DT). In reality, the diversity of DTs on different viewpoints and scales are very common, which also bring great difficulty to recognize DTs. In the previous studies, due to no considering of the deformable and transient nature of elements in DT, the motion estimation method is based on brightness constancy assumption,which seem inappropriate for aggregate and complex motions. A novel motion model based on relative motion in the neighborhood of two-dimensional motion fields is proposed. The estimation of non-rigid motion of DTs is based on the continuity equation, and then the local vector difference(LVD) is proposed to characterize DT local relative motion. Spatiotemporal statistics of the LVDs is used as the representation of DT sequences. | 20 | CATALYST DESIGN FOR METHANE DEHYDROGENATION AND BENZENE HYDROGENATION显示文摘Highly active and stable nickel catalyst for dehydrogenation of methane and hydrogenation of benzene is prepared from a precursor with hydrotalcite-like anionic clam structure by coprecipitation. The nickel particles have a narrow size distribution in several nanometers, and have a strong interaction with other components such as Al2O3. This catalyst is highly sensitive to further modification by doping and to reaction condition. On a modified catalyst, benzene hydrogenation to cyclohexane proceeds to complete at 373 K. While on another catalyst, different structured nanocarbons are obtained at moderate temperatures.
