| 2 | Clinical course of subepithelial lesions detected on upper gastrointestinal endoscopy显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the natural history of subepithelial lesions.METHODS:We reviewed the medical records of 104 159 patients who underwent upper gastrointestinal endoscopy at the Center for Health Promotion of Samsung Medical Center between 1996 and 2003.Subepithelial lesions were detected in 795 patients(0.76%);252 patients were followed using upper gastrointestinal endoscopy for 82.5 ± 29.2 mo(range,12-160 mo;median,84 mo;1st quartile,60 mo;3rd quartile,105 mo).The median interval of follow-up endoscopy was 12 mo(range,6-105 mo;1st quartile,12 mo;3rd quartile,24 mo).RESULTS:The mean patient age was 53 years(range,22-80 years),and the male-to-female ratio was 2.36:1(177/75).The lesion size at initial measurement averaged 8.9 mm(range,2-25 mm;median,8 mm;1st quartile,5 mm;3rd quartile,10 mm).Of the 252 lesions,244(96.8%) were unchanged and 8(3.2%) were significantly increased in size(from 12.9 ± 6.0 to 21.2 ± 12.2 mm) after a mean interval of 59.1 ± 27.5 mo(range,12-86 mo).Surgical resection of lesions was performed when the lesions were ≥ 3 cm in diameter.Two lesions were diagnosed as gastrointestinal stromal tumors with an intermediate or high risk of malignancy and one lesion was classified as a schwannoma.CONCLUSION:Most small subepithelial lesions do not change as shown by endoscopic examination,and regular follow-up with endoscopy may be considered in small,subepithelial lesions,especially lesions < 1 cm in size. | Yeun Jung Lim Hee Jung Son Jong-Soo Lee Young Hye Byun Hyun Joo Suh Pool Lyul Rhee Jae J Kim Jong Chul Rhee | 2010 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2010，16，4： | 6 |

| 6 | Scalp electroacupuncture at the Baihui acupoint (DU 20) improves functional recovery in rats with cerebral ischemia Association with increased expression of vascular endothelial growth factors显示文摘In this study, we induced cerebral infarction in rats by occluding the right middle cerebral artery, and tested the effects of electroacupuncture at the Baihui acupoint (DU 20). Motor and sensory function was tested using Garcia’s scale and motor weakness grading, and the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor in the brain was quantified using immunoblotting and immunohistochemistry. We found that scalp electroacupuncture at DU 20 significantly improved motor performance and sensory function in rats with stroke, and this was accompanied by an increased expression of vascular endothelial growth factor in the ischemic brain tissue and peri-ischemic area. | 7 | Effects of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge extract and its single components on monosodium urate-induced pain in vivo and lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammation in vitro显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the possible antinociceptive effects of Salvia(S.)miltiorrhiza Bunge and its single components in monosodium urate(MSU)-induced pain model in mice and lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced inflammation model in RAW264.7 cells.METHODS:Pretreatment of S.miltiorrhiza Bunge extract(from 1 to 50μg/mL)concentration-dependently attenuated LPS-induced nitric oxide(NO)release.The extract of S.miltiorrhiza Bunge(50 or 100 mg/kg)also caused reversals of decreased threshold for pain in the MSU-treated group as measured by Von-Frey test.Furthermore,we assessed the antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory properties of the active single components from S.miltiorrhiza Bunge such as 15,16-dihydrotanshinoneⅠ,tanshinoneⅠ,cryptotanshinone,miltirone,tanshinoneⅡA,and salvianolic acid B.Some of them showed an anti-inflammatory effect in LPS-induced NO release model and an antinociceptive effect in MSU-treated pain model.RESULTS:Our results suggest that S.miltiorrhiza Bunge extract may exert anti-inflammatory effect by reducing LPS-induced NO release and an antinociceptive property in MSU-treated pain model.Especially,tanshinoneⅡA,miltirone,cryptotanshinone,and 15,16-dihydrotanshinoneⅠ,not only appear to be responsible for LPS-induced NO release induced by S.miltiorrhiza Bunge,but also in the production of S.miltiorrhiza Bunge extract-induced antinociception in MSU-treated pain model.CONCLUSION:Therefore,the analgesic and anti-inflammatory property of S.miltiorrhiza Bunge indicate it as a therapeutic potential candidate for the treatment of pain and inflammation. | FENG Jinghui Set Byeol Kim Hee Jung Lee Su Min Sim Soon Sung Lim Hong Won Suh | 2021 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021，41，2： | 4 |

| 9 | Immune enhancement effect of an herb complex extract through the activation of natural killer cells and the regulation of cytokine levels in a cyclophosphamide-induced immunosuppression rat model显示文摘Objective: To investigate the effects of a herb complex extract(HCE) prepared from Cornus officinalis Sieb. Et Zucc., Eriobotrya japonica Lindley, and olive leaves on immune response of mouse spleen NK cells in vitro and in vivo analysis. Methods: The activity of natural killer(NK) cells was measured in splenocytes and YAC-1 cells. Mice were immunosuppressed using cyclophosphamide(5 mg/kg body weight). Three different doses of HCE(200, 400, and 800 mg/kg body weight) and red ginseng extract(800 mg/kg body weight) which was used as standard immunomodulatory herb were administered orally for 4 weeks. The body weight, dietary, water intake, organs(liver, thymus, and spleen) weight, completed blood count, and cytokines(tumor necrosis factor alpha, interferon gamma, and interleukin-2) production was measured. Results: At the maximum concentration of HCE, the activity of NK cells was increased by 48.5%. HCE increased liver, spleen, and thymus weights without altering numbers of white blood cells, lymphocytes, and neutrophils in a cyclophosphamide-induced immunosuppression rat model. However, HCE recovered the inhibited cytokine expression; HCE(800 mg/kg) increased cytokines levels. The results indicate the immune enhancement potential of this HCE. Conclusion: The HCE enhances immunity by increasing NK cell activity, regulating cytokine levels, and maintaining spleen weight. | 14 | Weekly docetaxel and gemcitabine in previously treated metastatic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma显示文摘AIM: To assess the efficacy and safety of weekly docetaxel plus a fixed-dose rate(FDR) of gemcitabine in metastatic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(SCC).METHODS: A multi-center, open-label, prospective phase Ⅱ study was designed.Thirty-three esophageal SCC patients with documented progression after fluoropyrimidine/platinum-based first-line chemotherapy were enrolled and treated with docetaxel 35 mg/m2 and gemcitabine 1000 mg/m2 iv at a FDR(10 mg/m2 per minute) on days 1 and 8.Treatment was repeatedevery twenty-one days until disease progression, unacceptable toxicity, or consent withdrawal.The primary endpoint was response rate(RR), and secondary endpoints were safety, progression-free survival(PFS) and overall survival(OS).RESULTS: Combination of weekly docetaxel and FDR gemcitabine was well tolerated: the most common treatment-related adverse events were anemia(97%), fatigue(64%) and neutropenia(55%).One patient with multiple lung and lymph node metastases died of respiratory failure after receiving four cycles of chemotherapy, and the possibility of drug-induced pneumonitis could not be completely excluded.Disease control(objective response plus stable disease) in the ITT population was achieved in 88% of patients, and the overall RR was 30%(95%CI: 15%-46%).The median PFS and OS were 4.0(95%CI: 3.4-4.6) and 8.8 mo(95%CI: 7.8-9.8 mo), respectively.CONCLUSION: A combination of weekly docetaxel and FDR gemcitabine showed promising antitumor activity and tolerability in previously treated, metastatic esophageal SCC. | Min-Young Lee Ki Sun Jung Hae Su Kim Ji Yun Lee Sung Hee Lim Moonjin Kim Hyun Ae Jung Sung Min Kim Jong Mu Sun Myung-Ju Ahn Jeeyun Lee Se Hoon Park Seong Yoon Yi In Gyu Hwang Sang-Cheol Lee Hee Kyung Ahn Do Hyoung Lim Soon Il Lee Keon Woo Park | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015，21，14： | 2 |
