Characterization of chickpea germplasm conserved in the Indian National Genebank and development of a core set using qualitative and quantitative trait data显示文摘Chickpea is the third most important pulse crop as a source of dietary protein. Ever-increasing demand in Asian countries calls for breeding superior desi-type varieties, in turn necessitating the availability of characterized germplasm to breeders. The Indian National Genebank, located at the National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources, New Delhi, conserves 14,651 accessions of chickpea. The entire set was characterized in a single large-scale experiment.High variation was observed for eight quantitative and 12 qualitative agro-morphological traits. Allelic richness procedure was employed to assemble a core set comprising 1103 accessions, 70.0% of which were of Indian origin. Comparable values of total variation explained by the first three principal components in the entire collection(51.1%) and the core(52.4%)together with conservation of nine pairwise r values among quantitative traits in the core collection and a coincidence rate around 99.7% indicated that the chickpea core was indeed an excellent representation of the entire chickpea collection in the National Genebank. The chickpea core exhibited greater diversity than the entire collection in agro-morphological traits, as assessed by higher variance and Shannon–Weaver diversity indices, indicating that the chickpea core maximized the phenotypic diversity available in the Indian chickpea germplasm. The chickpea core, comprising mainly indigenous desi genotypes, is expected to be an excellent resource for chickpea breeders. | 7 | Plant diversity of the Kangchenjunga Landscape, Eastern Himalayas显示文摘The Kangchenjunga Landscape (KL) in the Eastern Himalayas is a transboundary complex shared by Bhutan, India, and Nepal. It forms a part of the ‘Himalayan Biodiversity Hotspot’ and is one of the biologically richest landscapes in the Eastern Himalayas. In this paper, we use secondary information to review and consolidate the knowledge on the flora of the KL. We reviewed 215 journal articles, analysed the history of publications on the flora of the KL, their publication pattern in terms of temporal and spatial distribution and key research areas. Our review shows that the landscape has a long history of botanical research that dates back to the 1840s and progressed remarkably after the 1980s. Most of the studies have been carried out in India, followed by Nepal and Bhutan. The majority of these have been vegetation surveys, followed by research on ethnobotanical aspects and Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs). This paper describes the forest types and characteristic species of the KL and details the species richness, diversity and dominant families of seed plants. A total of 5198 species of seed plants belonging to 1548 genera and 216 families have been recorded from the landscape, including 3860 dicots, 1315 monocots and 23 gymnosperms. Among families, Orchidaceae is the most diversely represented family in terms of species richness. This paper also draws attention to the threatened and endemic flora of the KL, including 44 species that are threatened at national and global level and 182 species that are endemic. Finally, the paper reviews the major challenges facing the KL, the conservation efforts and practices that are currently in place and recommends systematic and comprehensive floral surveys, particularly long-term data collection and monitoring and transboundary collaboration, to address the existing knowledge gaps on floral diversity of the KL. | Pratikshya Kandel Nakul Chettri Ram P.Chaudhary Hemant Kumar Badola Kailash S.Gaira Sonam Wangchuk Namgay Bidha Yadav Uprety Eklabya Sharma | 2019 | Plant Diversity2019,41,3: | 1
BERT for Conversational Question Answering Systems Using Semantic Similarity Estimation显示文摘Most of the questions from users lack the context needed to thoroughly understand the problemat hand, thus making the questions impossible to answer.Semantic Similarity Estimation is based on relating user’s questions to the context from previous Conversational Search Systems(CSS)to provide answers without requesting the user’s context. It imposes constraints on the time needed to produce an answer for the user. The proposed model enables the use of contextual data associated with previous Conversational Searches(CS).While receiving a question in a new conversational search, the model determines the question that refers tomore pastCS.Themodel then infers past contextual data related to the given question and predicts an answer based on the context inferred without engaging in multi-turn interactions or requesting additional data from the user for context. This model shows the ability to use the limited information in user queries for best context inferences based on Closed-Domain-based CS and Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers for textual representations. | Abdulaziz Al-Besher Kailash Kumar M.Sangeetha Tinashe Butsa | 2022 | Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,3: | 0
A Study on Elite Mango Genotypes in Odisha—An Avenue for Crop Improvement显示文摘A study was carried out among the local mango types in Odisha to explore their genetic variations for further utilization in crop improvement, as the genetic diversity serves as a way for the population to adopt the changing edapho-climatic condition. From 17 districts of Odisha, a total of 548 seedling trees were observed, but only 30 mango elites were selected on the basis of organoleptic test for taste, flavor and aroma. Different physico-chemical characters, like fruit size, shape, colour, flavour, aroma and other characteristics, varied widely among these genotypes. The results of the study with respect to 30 numbers of local mango genotypes revealed that the maximum individual fruit weight (510 g) and pulp percentage (78.4%) was recorded in Kali. The other desirable traits of the minimum stone percentage (5.9%) and the maximum pulp to stone ratio (12.5:1) was observed in Nakei. The minimum peel percentage (10.0%) and the maximum total soluble solid (TSS) percentage (26%) was recorded in the fruits of Mitha and Lori, respectively. Attractive fruit skin colour was observed in the genotypes Nakei and Belua (yellowish), followed by Sundari (yellow with orange tinge) and Kadalia (greenish yellow). But in case of check mango cultivars Amrapali and Mallika, desirable traits, like the maximum TSS, pulp percentage, pulp to stone ratio and the minimum stone percentage was exhibited by Amrapali, whereas Mallika had the maximum fruit weight. The shape and skin colour are neither attractive nor preferred in both the commercial cultivars, so above cited eye catchy traits can be incorporated into these two superior mango genotypes from the local genotypes to meet the market demand and export potential. | Suvalaxmi Palei Basant Kumar Das Kailash Chandra Mohapatra Dilip Kumar Dash | 2016 | Journal of Agricultural Science and Technology(B)2016,6,4: | 0
Fuzzy Control Based Resource Scheduling in IoT Edge Computing显示文摘Edge Computing is a new technology in Internet of Things(IoT)paradigm that allows sensitive data to be sent to disperse devices quickly and without delay.Edge is identical to Fog,except its positioning in the end devices is much nearer to end-users,making it process and respond to clients in less time.Further,it aids sensor networks,real-time streaming apps, and the IoT,all of which require high-speed and dependable internet access. For such an IoT system,Resource Scheduling Process(RSP)seems to be one of the most important tasks. This paper presents a RSP for Edge Computing(EC).The resource characteristics are first standardized and normalized.Next, for task scheduling,a Fuzzy Control based Edge Resource Scheduling(FCERS)is suggested. The results demonstrate that this technique enhances resource scheduling efficiency in EC and Quality of Service(QoS).The experimental study revealed that the suggested FCERS method in this work converges quicker than the other methods. Our method reduces the total computing cost, execution time, and energy consumption on average compared to the baseline. The ES allocates higher processing resources to each user in case of limited availability of MDs;this results in improved task execution time and a reduced total task computation cost.Additionally, the proposed FCERS m 1m may more efficiently fetch user requests to suitable resource categories, increasing user requirements. | Samah Alhazmi Kailash Kumar Soha Alhelaly | 2022 | Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,6: | 0
Fault Management Cyber-Physical Systems in Virtual Storage Model显示文摘On average, every two years, the amount of data existing globally doubles.Software development will be affected and improved by Cyber-Physical Systems(CPS).The number of problems remained even though developments helped Information Technology experts extract better value from their storage investments.Because of poor interoperability between different vendors and devices, countless numbers of Storage Area Networks were created.Network setup used for data storage includes a complex and rigid arrangement of routers,switch,hosts/servers,storage arrays. We have evaluated the performance of routing protocol Transmission Control Protocol(TCP)and Fibre Channel Protocol(FCP)under different network scenario by Network Simulator(NS)-3 Simulation. We simulated the Node Failure and NetworkCongestion issuewithDoS attacks and a counter effect on the Packet Distribution Ratio and End-to-End Delay efficiency metrics with different nodes and speed of node mobility. The study is performed for the Simple NetworkManagement Protocol(SNMP)on FCP routing. The results proved that the proposed method isolates the malicious and congested nodes and improves the Network’s performance. | Kailash Kumar Ahmad Abdullah Aljabr | 2022 | Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,2: | 0
Silicon and plant nutrition—dynamics, mechanisms of transport and role of silicon solubilizer microbiomes in sustainable agriculture:A review显示文摘Silicon(Si)is the second most abundant element in the Earth’s crust and has numerous roles in both soils and plants, although it is inaccessible to plants in its native state(insoluble silicate minerals). This inaccessibility can lead to insufficiency, which induces anomalies in plant growth and development.Specifically,Si alleviates various biotic and abiotic stresses in plants by enhancing tolerance mechanisms at different stages of uptake/deposition as a monosilicic acid.Exclusive utilization of conventional Si fertilizers to boost agricultural productivity in an attempt to meet the world’s ever-increasing food demand may result in surface and groundwater pollution, waterway eutrophication, soil fertility depletion, and accumulation of hazardous elements such as arsenic in soil.By addressing the drawbacks of chemical fertilizers, this review emphasizes an environmentally friendly alternative,namely,Si-solubilizing microorganisms(SSMs),as bioinoculants to liberate soluble Si and thus making it available to plants.A deep understanding of recent advances in the functional diversity, colonization patterns, modes of action, role in biogeochemical cycling, and plant stress tolerance of SSMs and their implementation in Si-based agrowaste management through the fabrication of nanoparticles, could help to establish a reliable tool for economically and environmentally sustainable agriculture. From this perspective,in this review,we comprehensively summarize the latest methodologies for the isolation, screening, and characterization of SSMs and Si solubilization mechanisms, including ligands(divalent cations),acids(inorganic and organic),alkali(nucleophilic attack),extracellular polysaccharides, and factors affecting them,as well as Si-mediated regulation of gene expression involved in Si uptake, transportation, and mineralization. We have critically revised the role of SSMs according to the current literature. The contributions of SSMs to biofertilization are still being explored;hence,we also discuss trajectories for future research in relation to SSM-mediated increases in bioavailable Si.This will create new strategies to reduce the use of agrochemicals, improve plant health, and help us to globally gravitate towards more sustainable agricultural practices, based on the concept of a circular economy. | Barkha SHARMA Kailash Chand KUMAWAT Shalini TIWARI Ajay KUMAR Rouf Ahmad DAR Ummed SINGH Massimiliano CARDINALE | 2023 | Pedosphere2023,33,4: | 0
Co-inoculation of indigenous Pseudomonas oryzihabitans and Bradyrhizobium sp.modulates the growth, symbiotic efficacy, nutrient acquisition, and grain yield of soybean显示文摘Soil microbes play a vital role in improving plant growth, crop productivity, and soil health through solubilization of essential nutrients.Present investigation was conducted to access the efficacy of Bradyrhizobium sp.LSBR-3 and the indigenous phosphate-solubilizing Pseudomonas oryzihabitans LSE-3 in improving the symbiosis, nutrient accumulation, and yield of soybean. The isolate LSE-3,selected on the basis of phosphate solubilization, was screened for beneficial traits, antagonistic activities, and pathogenicity. The levels of indole acetic acid production(50.34±2.35μg mL^(-1)),phosphate solubilization(184.4±7.4 mg L^(-1)),biofilm formation(optical density at 560 mm,1.3896±0.04),siderophore production(121.46±1.61μg mL^(-1)),and 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate deaminase activity(0.51±0.07 mmolα-ketobutyrateμg^(-1) protein h^(-1))were significantly higher with the dual inoculants(LSBR-3 and LSE-3)than with the single inoculant LSBR-3.The plant growth-promoting traits of single and dual inoculants were evaluated for the synergistic effects on soybean under field conditions.Soybean plots treated with LSBR-3+LSE-3 exhibited improvement in seed germination, plant height, plant biomass, and chlorophyll content compared with the uninoculated control.Dual inoculant treatments resulted in significantly higher symbiotic efficacy evidenced by increased nodulation(40.0±0.75 plant^(-1)),nodule biomass(188.52±6.29 mg plant^(-1)),and leghemoglobin content(11.02±0.83 mg g^(-1) fresh nodule),and significantly increased activities of phosphatase(75.16±3.17 and 58.77±6.08μg p-nitrophenol g^(-1) h^(-1) for alkaline and acid phosphatase, respectively)and dehydrogenase(32.66±1.92μg triphenylformazan g^(-1) h^(-1))compared with the control.Dual inoculation with LSBR-3 and LSE-3 enhanced the uptake of macro-and micronutrients, reduced Na content in shoots, and resulted in 10.85%higher grain yield and ca.US$96.80 ha^(-1) higher profit compared with the control. This is the first report on the effectiveness of combined inoculation of LSE-3 and LSBR-3 in promoting the growth, symbiotic efficacy, and yield of soybean for sustainable agriculture. | Kailash Chand KUMAWAT Inderjeet SINGH Sharon NAGPAL Poonam SHARMA Rajeev Kumar GUPTA Asmita SIRARI | 2022 | Pedosphere2022,32,3: | 0
