1Association between Ambient Air Pollution and Outpatient Visits for Acute Bronchitis in a Chinese City显示文摘Objective To investigate the short-term association between outdoor air pollution and outpatient visits for acute bronchitis,which is a rare subject of research in the mainland of China.Methods A time-series analysis was conducted to examine the association of outdoor air pollutants with hospital outpatient visits in Shanghai by using two-year daily data(2010-2011).Results Outdoor air pollution was found to be associated with an increased risk of outpatient visits for acute bronchitis in Shanghai.The effect estimates of air pollutants varied with the lag structures of the concentrations of the pollutants.For lag06,a 10 μg/m3 increase in the concentrations of PM10,SO2,and NO2 corresponded to 0.94%(95% CI:0.83%,1.05%),11.12%(95% CI:10.76%,11.48%),and 4.84%(95% CI:4.49%,5.18%) increases in hospital visits for acute bronchitis,respectively.These associations appeared to be stronger in females(P<0.05).Between-age differences were significant for SO2(P<0.05),and between-season differences were also significant for SO2(P<0.05).Conclusion Our analyses have provided the first evidence that the current air pollution level in China has an effect on acute bronchitis and that the rationale for further limiting air pollution levels in Shanghai should be strengthened.GUO Li Juan ZHAO Ang CHEN Ren Jie KAN Hai Dong KUANG Xing Ya 2014Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2014,27,11:13
2Improved corrosion resistance and thermal stability of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets with holmium substitution显示文摘The effects of Ho substitution for Nd on the microstructure, corrosion resistance and thermal stability of the Nd-Fe-B magnets were investigated. The(Nd,Ho)-O phase was formed with increasing Ho substitution. The results of potentiodynamic polarization and highly accelerated stress test show improved corrosion resistance with increasing Ho substitution. The optimum mass loss 0.29 mg/cm^2 is achieved.Moreover, the average temperature coefficients for remanence and coercivity in the range of 25-150℃are both closer to zero, indicating improved thermal stability. 3Meta-analysis of the efficacy of probiotics in Helicobacter pylori eradication therapy显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the role of probiotics in the standard triple Helicobacter pylori therapy.METHODS:In this meta-analysis,we investigated the efficacy of probiotics in a standard triple H.pylori therapy in adults.Searches were mainly conducted in MEDLINE/Pub Med,EMBASE,and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials.Fourteen studies met our criteria,and the quality of these studies was assessedusing the Jadad scale.We used STATA version 12.0to extract data and to calculate the odds ratios(ORs),which are presented with the corresponding 95%confidence intervals(CIs).The data are presented as forest plots.RESULTS:The pooled ORs for the eradication rates calculated by intention-to-treat analysis and perprotocol analysis in the probiotic group vs the control group were 1.67(95%CI:1.38-2.02)and 1.68(95%CI:1.35-2.08),respectively,using the fixed-effects model.The sensitivity of the Asian studies was greater than that of the Caucasian studies(Asian:OR=1.78,95%CI:1.40-2.26;Caucasian:OR=1.48,95%CI:1.06-2.05).The pooled OR for the incidence of total adverse effects was significantly lower in the probiotic group(OR=0.49,95%CI:0.26-0.94),using the random effects model,with significant heterogeneity(I2=85.7%).The incidence of diarrhea was significantly reduced in the probiotic group(OR=0.21,95%CI:0.06-0.74),whereas the incidence of taste disorders,metallic taste,vomiting,nausea,and epigastric pain did not differ significantly between the probiotic group and the control group.CONCLUSION:Supplementary probiotic preparations during standard triple H.pylori therapy may improve the eradication rate,particularly in Asian patients,and the incidence of total adverse effects.Rong Zhu Kan Chen Yuan-Yuan Zheng Hua-Wei Zhang Jun-Shan Wang Yu-Jing Xia Wei-Qi Dai Fan Wang Miao Shen Ping Cheng Yan Zhang Cheng-Fen Wang Jing Yang Jing-Jing Li Jie Lu Ying-Qun Zhou Chuan-Yong Guo 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,47:9
4Dietary encapsulated essential oils and organic acids mixture improves gut health in broiler chickens challenged with necrotic enteritis显示文摘Background:The poultry industry is in need of effective antibiotic alternatives to control outbreaks of necrotic enteritis(NE)due to Clostridium perfringens.In the present study,we investigated the effects of dietary supplementation with a blend of encapsulated essential oils and organic acids(BLJ)on growth performance and gut health using a coinfection model of NE in broiler chickens.Methods:Two hundred and eighty-eight one-day-old male Arbor Acres broiler chicks were randomly assigned using a 2×2 factorial design into two groups fed either 0 or 500 mg/kg dietary BLJ and co-challenged(or not challenged for the control)with Eimeria spp./C.perfringens.Results:Infected birds fed the BLJ-supplemented diet exhibited an improved feed conversion ratio throughout the trial(P<0.01),a higher villus height and villus height/crypt depth ratio,and reduced intestinal C.perfringens counts,liver C.perfringens carriage,gut lesion scores and serum fluorescein isothiocyanate dextran(FITC-D)concentrations at 7 d postinfection compared with those of birds without BLJ supplementation(P<0.05).NE-infected birds fed BLJ exhibited significantly upregulated claudin-1 and IGF-2 mRNA levels(P<0.05),increased A20 mRNA expression and significantly downregulated TRAF-6,TNFSF15 and TOLLIP mRNA levels in the jejunum at 7 d post-infection compared with those in birds without BLJ supplementation(P<0.05).Compared with the uninfected and untreated birds,the uninfected birds fed BLJ displayed increased relative abundances of Lactobacillus and Coprococcus but reduced Rikenellaceae levels.Compared with the unsupplemented NE-challenged birds,infected birds fed BLJ showed an increased relative abundance of Unclassified_Lachnospiraceae and a significantly decreased relative abundance of Erysipelotrichaceae.Conclusion:BLJ supplementation improved growth performance and gut health in NE-infected broiler chickens by strengthening the intestinal barrier function,positively modulating the gut microbiota community and differentially regulating intestinal immune responses.Our results also suggested that adding BLJ effectively controlled NE infections after experimental Eimeria and Clostridium perfringens coinfection.Van Hieu Pham Liugang Kan Jinyu Huang Yanqiang Geng Wenrui Zhen Yuming Guo Waseem Abbas Zhong Wang 2020Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2020,11,3:8
5Use of suppression subtractive hybridization strategy for cloning and identifying specifically expressed genes of renal cell carcinoma显示文摘Using suppression subtractive hybridization, a renal cell carcinoma (RCC) cDNA subtractive library which only contains differently expressed cDNAs between human RCC and normal kidney has been constructed. 200 clones were picked out randomly to perform enzyme digest analysis, a part of them underwent sequence analysis and Northern blot to identify RCC specially expressed genes. Results showed that 190 clones contain 50-400 bp inserts respectively. Sequence analysis was performed in 10 clones. All the 10 sequences were unknown before and derived from 6 unique novel genes among which the cDNA insert RCC18 has five copies. Northern blot analysis showed that RCC18 cDNA expressed highly in RCC, but there was no signal detected in normal kidney, and the full length of RCC18 was about 2.5 kb. The constructed cDNA subtractive library of human RCC is a highly efficient one and lays the solid foundation for large-scale screening and cloning new and specific oncogenes or tumor suppressor genes of RCC. 7Impact of Temperature on Mortality in Three Major Chinese Cities显示文摘Objective To study the relation between temperature and mortality by estimating the temperature-related mortality in Beijing,Shanghai,and Guangzhou.Methods Data of daily mortality,weather and air pollution in the three cities were collected.A distributed lag nonlinear model was established and used in analyzing the effects of temperature on mortality.Current and future net temperature-related mortality was estimated.Results The association between temperature and mortality was J-shaped,with an increased death risk of both hot and cold temperature in these cities.The effects of cold temperature on health lasted longer than those of hot temperature.The projected temperature-related mortality increased with the decreased cold-related mortality.The mortality was higher in Guangzhou than in Beijing and Shanghai.Conclusion The impact of temperature on health varies in the 3 cities of China,which may have implications for climate policy making in China.ZHANG Jing LI Tian Tian TAN Jian Guo HUANG Cun Rui KAN Hai Dong 2014Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2014,27,7:5
8A transient multiphysics coupling method based on OpenFOAM for heat pipe cooled reactors显示文摘Differing from traditional pressurized water reactors(PWRs),heat pipe cooled reactors have the unique characteristics of fuel thermal expansion,expansion reactivity feedback,and thermal contact conductance.These reactors require a new multiphysics coupling method.In this paper,a transient coupling method based on OpenFOAM is proposed.The method considers power variation,thermal expansion,heat pipe operation,thermal contact conductance,and gap conductance.In particular,the reactivity feedback caused by working medium redistribution in a heat pipe is also preliminarily considered.A typical heat pipe cooled reactor KRUSTY(Kilowatt Reactor Using Stirling TechnologY)is chosen as the research object.Compared with experimental results of load following,the calculated results are in good agreement and show the validity of the proposed method.To discuss the self-adjusting capability of this type of reactor system,a hypothetical accident is simulated.It is assumed that at the beginning of this accident,loss of the heat sink occurs.After 1500 s of the transient process,the reactor system recovers immediately.During this hypothetical accident,the control rod is always out of the reactor core,and the reactor only relies on the reactivity feedback to regulate the fission power.According to the simulation,the peak temperature is only about 1112 K,which is far below the safety limit.As for system recovery,the reactor needs approximately 2500 s to return to a steady state and can realize effective power regulation by reactivity feedback.This study confirms the availability of this coupling method and that it can be an effective tool for the simulation of heat pipe cooled reactors.GUO YuChuan LI ZeGuang WANG Kan SU ZiLin 2022Science China(Technological Sciences)2022,65,1:4
9Ion engine grids:Function,main parameters,issues,configurations,geometries,materials and fabrication methods显示文摘Ion optics are crucial components of ion thrusters and the study of the different ion extraction solutions used since the beginning of the electric propulsion era is essential to understand the evolution of ion engines. This work describes ion engine grids' main functions, parameters and issues related to thermal expansion and sputter erosion, and then introduces a review of ion optics used for significant launched and tested ion thrusters since 1970. 11Numerical investigation on the startup performance of high-temperature heat pipes for heat pipe cooled reactor application显示文摘A suitable model for high-temperature heat pipe startup is a prerequisite to realizing the numerical simula-tion for the heat pipe cooled reactor startup from the cold state.It is required that this model not only describes the transient behavior during the startup period,but also reduces the computing resources of the heat pipe cooled reactor simulation in the simplest way.In this study,a simplified model that integrates the two-zone and network models is proposed.In this model,vapor flow in the vapor space,evaporation,and condensation in the vapor–liquid interface are decoupled with heat conduction to achieve a fast calculation of the transient characteristics of the heat pipe.An experimental system for a high-temperature heat pipe was developed to validate the proposed model.A potassium heat pipe was utilized as the experimental material.Startup experiments were performed with differ-ent heating powers.Compared with the experimental results,the accuracy of the proposed model was verified.Moreover,the proposed model can predict the vapor flow,pressure drop,and temperature drop in the vapor space.As indicated by the analysis results,the essential requirements for successful startup are also determined.The heat pipe cannot achieve a successful startup until the heating power satisfies these requirements.All the discussions indicate the capability of the proposed model for the simulation of a high-temperature heat pipe startup from the frozen state;hence,can act as a basic tool for the heat pipe cooled reactor simulation.Yu-Chuan Guo Zi-Lin Su Ze-Guang Li Kan Wang 2021Nuclear Science and Techniques2021,32,10:4

Its character is to compute the velocity and pollution concentration separately. The velocity is computed by SIMPLEC algorithm in boundary fitted coordinate systems. The pollution concentration distribution is computed by developed QUAL IIm and QAIIL 2D program. The present model was applied to the Xiantao section of the Hanjiang River a tributary of Yangtze River, and Xiangjiang River. 16Effect of oxymatrine on interferon-gamma and tumor necrosis factor-alpha serum levels in an experimental rat model of autoimmune encephalomyelitis显示文摘BACKGROUND:Studies have demonstrated that experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis(EAE) onset correlates with increased interferon-γ(IFN-γ) and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) expression.Oxymatrine(OM) has been shown to inhibit autoimmune responses,but there are no reports showing that it could prevent the development of EAE.OBJECTIVE:To observe the effect of OM on serum levels of IFN-γ and TNF-α in a rat model of EAE.DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:A randomized,controlled,animal study was performed at the Experimental Animal Center of Henan Academy of Chinese Medicine and at the Key Disciplines Laboratory Clinical Medicine of Henan Province between July and December 2008.MATERIALS:OM was purchased from Chia-tai Tianqing Pharmaceutical,China;complete Freund's adjuvant was purchased from Sigma,USA.METHODS:Forty female Wistar rats were randomly assigned to four groups:EAE model(M),low-dose OM treatment(OM-L),high-dose OM treatment(OM-H),and normal control(N,no immunization),with 10 rats in each group.EAE was established in the M,OM-L,and OM-H groups following immunization with Guinea pig spinal cord homogenate and complete Freund's adjuvant.The M and N groups were intraperitoneally injected with normal saline(6.7 mL/kg per day),the OM-L group received an intraperitoneal injection of OM(100 mg/kg per day),and the OM-H group received OM(150 mg/kg per day).MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:At 16 days after immunization,the degree of histopathological changes in the spinal cord was assessed by hematoxylin-eosin stanining.Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to detect serum levels of IFN-γ,and radioimmunoassay was utilized to determine serum TNF-α level.Neurological scores were measured on a daily basis according to a 0-5 scale.RESULTS:Daily injections of OM,both high and low doses,resulted in decreased neurological scores in EAE rats(P < 0.01),as well as reduced cellular infiltration in the spinal cord and decreased levels of serum IFN-γ and TNF-α(P < 0.01).CONCLUSION:OM reduced the onset and severity of EAE,which correlated with decreased IFN-γ and TNF-α expression.Xiaobin Guo Quancheng Kan Yifan Song Lin Zhu Xiang Li Haiying Hua GuangxianZhang 2010Neural Regeneration Research2010,5,10:2
17Verticillium dahliae Secretory Effector PevD1 Induces Leaf Senescence by Promoting ORE1-Mediated Ethylene Biosynthesis显示文摘Leaf senescence,the final stage of leaf development,is influenced by numerous internal and environmental signals.So far,how biotic stresses such as pathogen infection regulate leaf senescence is unclear.Here,we found that the premature leaf senescence caused by a soil-borne vascular fungus Verticillium dahliae in Arabidopsis was impaired by the mutation of a protein elicitor from V.dahliae 1(PevD1).Constitutive or inducible overexpression of PevD1 accelerated Arabidopsis leaf senescence.A senescence-associated NAC transcription factor,ORE1,was targeted by PevD1.PevD1 interacted with and stabilized ORE1 protein by disrupting its interaction with the RING-type ubiquitin E3 ligase NLA.Mutation of ORE1 suppressed the premature senescence caused by overexpressing PevD1.Overexpression of ORE1 or PevD1 led to enhanced ethylene production,and ORE1 mediated PevD1-induced ethylene biosynthesis by directly binding to the ACS6 promoter.Loss-of-function of ACSs suppressed V.dahliae-induced leaf senescence in ORE1-overexpressing plants.Interestingly,PevD1 also interacted with Gossypium hirsutum ORE1(GhORE1),and virus-induced gene silencing of GhORE1 delayed V.dahliae-triggered leaf senescence in cotton,indicative of the existence of a conserved mechanism in plants.Altogether,our study demonstrates that V.dahliae induces leaf senescence by secreting the effector PevD1 to regulate the ORE1-ACS6 cascade,providing new insight into biotic stress-induced senescence in plants.Yi Zhang Yuhan Gao Hou-Ling Wang Chengcheng Kan Ze Li Xiufen Yang Weilun Yin Xinli Xia Hong Gil Nam Zhonghai Li Hongwei Guo 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,11:2

19Synergistic effects of CdS in sodium titanate based nanostructures for hydrogen evolution显示文摘In this paper, nanotubes and nanoribbons of sodium titanate structures were synthesized via hydrothermal methods in alkaline solution. CdS decorated titanate nanotubes and nanoribbons were therefore constructed for exploring the performance of hydrogen evolution and synergistic effect of CdS based titanate structures. CdS decorated titanate nanotubes and nanoribbons were characterized by high resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM), X-ray diffraction(XRD), UV-vis, BrunauerEmmett-Teller(BET) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) measurements. 20A Novel Method for Power Analysis Based on Combinational Logic in Block Cipher Circuit显示文摘In this paper, we propose a method that builds power model template according to input transitions of combinatorial logic circuit. By computing its correlation with the overall power consumption of a cryptographic circuit, we are able to recover the secret key. Several simulation-based experiments have been conducted,which verifies the feasibility of our method and shows that the combinatorial logic is also faced with the problem of information leakage in power analysis cases. Compared with DPA(Differential power analysis) and CPA(Correlation power analysis), our attack is fairly effective against the cryptographic circuits whose protection is only implemented on the register parts of the sequential circuit.
