1人类白细胞抗原-B等位基因多态性与江苏地区汉族人群2型糖尿病的相关性研究显示文摘目的探讨人类白细胞抗原(HLA-B)等位基因多态性与江苏地区汉族人群2型糖尿病的相关性。方法采用聚合酶链反应直接测序分型法(PCR-SBT)对118例江苏地区汉族2型糖尿病(T2DM)个体进行HLA-B等位基因分型,计算各等位基因频率和血清型频率,并与中华骨髓库江苏分库汉族志愿者人群(644例和20 248例)进行统计学比较。结果 HLA-B*1501的等位基因频率在江苏地区汉族T2DM人群中明显升高(8.90%vs 3.03%,Pc=0.000,^OR=3.13,95%CI=1.80~5.42,Power=98.23%),而HLA-B*5801的等位基因频率则明显下降(1.69%vs 8.62%,Pc=0.000,^OR=0.18,95%CI=0.07~0.50,Power=91.07%);相对应地,HLA-B*15的血清型频率在江苏地区汉族T2DM人群中明显升高(21.18%vs 13.03%,Pc=0.022,^OR=1.79,95%CI=1.26~2.55,Power=90.15%),而HLA-B*58的血清型频率则明显下降(1.69%vs 8.62%,Pc=0.000,^OR=0.18,95%CI=0.07~0.50,Power=91.09%)。结论 HLA-B*1501等位基因可能与江苏地区汉族人群2型糖尿病的易感性有关,而HLA-B*5801则可能有保护作用。这些结果首次提示HLA-I类基因多态性可能与中国人群2型糖尿病有关。夏玲芝 曹鹏 李晓娥 许涛 Khawar Ali Shahzad 毛源 张厚智 沈传来 2016中国现代医学杂志2016,26,6:9
2Interaction between seed size and NaCl on germination and early seedling growth of some Turkish cultivars of chickpea(Cicer arietinum L.)显示文摘Chickpea is an important food legume crop of Turkey and is largely grown for human consumption on low moisture or salt-affected soils. The objective of the study was to find the effects of NaCl stress at electrical conductivities of 4.5,8.6,12.7 and 16.3 dS/m and seed sizes(7,8 and 9 mm) on germination and early seedling growth of three popular chickpea cultivars(AKN-97,Gokce and Uzunlu-99). Mean frequency of germination,germination time,germination index,root length,shoot length and seedling fresh weight showed seed size-dependent responses of cultivars to salt stress. In general,small seeds germinated and grew more rapidly compared to medium and large seeds of the same cultivars against all levels of salt stress,with the best results in cultivar Uzunlu-99. No effect of NaCl treatments was observed on frequency of germination;however,a drastic decrease in early seedling growth was recorded at increased NaCl concentrations. Regression analysis results showed a significantly positive rela-tionship(P<0.01) between seed size and mean germination time,whereas a significantly negative relationship was recorded between seed size and germination index,root length,shoot length. Moreover,linear regression values apparently confirmed that increased seed size in each cultivar affected decreased germination index,root and shoot lengths with enhanced mean germination time. 3Rare earth elements in tropical surface water,soil and sediments of the Terengganu River Basin,Malaysia显示文摘The 14 stable rare earth element(REE) concentrations and distribution patterns were investigated for surface waters(n=51),soils(n=52) and sediments(n=42) from the tropical Terengganu River basin,Malaysia.The chondrite normalized REE patterns of soils developed on four geological units showed enrichment of LREE,a pronounced negative Eu,and depletion of HREE with an enrichment order granite>>metasedimentary>alluvium>volcanic.The REE patterns in sediments reflected the soil REE patterns with an overall order of abundance LREE>>MREE>HREE,however,positive Ce anomaly was either weak or absent in sediments.The chondrite normalized REE patterns for sediments also produced near-neighbor concentration anomalies(Eu-Gd-Tb).The dissolved ∑REE concentrations increased systematically in surface waters with distance from the upstream(<1 μg/L) to the downstream(~54 μg/L) along the flow path revealing TDS as one of the major controls.River waters registered 85 times higher average ∑REE concentration than the lake waters.While soils and sediments registered a positive Ce anomaly,lake surface waters showed a slight negative anomaly.This was possibly due to the fixation of Ce onto the secondary oxides of Fe and Al and seemed to be immobile under the prevailing pH-redox conditions.The chondrite normalized REE patterns of river water carried strong signature of local geology which significantly differed from lake water REE patterns especially the MREE(Nd to Ho).Dissolved REE concentrations were measured to be higher than other large tropical rivers such as Amazon,Congo and Sepik.Principal component analysis of two main components(accounting for 99.6%) revealed three groups:HREE,LREE and anomalous.Khawar Sultan Noor Azhar Shazili 2009Journal of Rare Earths2009,27,6:4
4Geochemical baselines of major,minor and trace elements in the tropical sediments of the Terengganu River basin,Malaysia显示文摘The geochemical baselines and distribution of 31 elements (Al, Fe, K, Na, Mg, Ca, Mn, Ba, Cr, Zr, Ni, Sr, Zn, Y, Li, Cu, Mo, Nb, Th, Co, Ga, W, Ta, Be, Ti, Ge, Se, Bi, Te, Sc and Re) and physico-chemical parameters of the tropical surface sediments of the Terengganu River basin, Malaysia, are reported. Sediments are sandy loam to sand in texture consisting of mostly quartz, low organic matter content (average-2.68%), low CEC (average-2.02 cmol(+)/kg) and mildly acidic pH1:5 (average-5.91). Concentrations of Mn, Fe, Ba, Cr, Ni, Cu, Mo and Se were measured to be above the environmental sediment quality criteria at various locations. Lake sediments registered significantly higher Al, Fe, Ti, Mg, Ca, Mn, Te and Sc concentrations as compared to the river sediments. Most of the elements investigated showed an association with silt size fraction (2-63 μm). Among the investigated metals, Mo and Fe concentrations showed an increasing (>5-fold) and decreasing (>3-fold) trend, respectively, along the river path from the upstream to the downstream depending on the stream pH-redox conditions. The enrichment factor values (EF >5) of Cr, Ni, Mo and Se indicated enrichment from anthropogenic activities. Alkali and alkali earth metals registered a significant depletion (EF values <0.7) as compared to the Earth's crust. Principal component analysis of the two main components (PC1, 87.4% and PC2, 8.7%) revealed a well-defined group of estuary sediments. Lake and river sediment sampling locations did not form defined groups revealing heterogeneity in the origin of geologic material and the in-stream geochemical processes. However, Cr, Ni, Mo and Se formed a separate group with elevated concentrations (e.g. Cr>1,000 mg/kg) indicating contamination of sediments. 5Sirtl regulates testosterone biosynthesis in Leydig cells via modulating autophagy显示文摘Dear Editor,Steroid hormones are crucial signal molecules that regulate a large number of physiological and developmental pro-cesses.Testosterone is the key steroid hormone required for the development of male characteristics and also supports the physiology of the male reproductive system(Sinclair et al.,2015).Testosterone is primarily produced by the Leydig cells residing in the testicular interstitium.The cholesterol acts as a substrate for the biosynthesis of testosterone.Since steroidogenic cells are capable of stor-ing only very ltte hormone,rapid synthesis of hormone requires the mobilization of the precursor cholesterol,chiefly stored as intracellular lipid droplets(LDs)(Danielsen et al.,2016).Leydig cells are the major sites to produce testos-terone,there are extremely active autophagy in them,and a decline in steroidogenesis has also been associated with the decline of autophagic flow.Moreover,the disruption of autophagy leads to decreased intracellular LDs,and there-fore affects testosterone synthesis in the Leydig cells(Danielsen et al..2016;Gao et al,2018).Muhammad Babar Khawar Chao Liu Fengyi Gao Hui Gao Wenwen Liu Tingting Han Lina Wang Guoping Li Hui Jiang Wei Li 2021Protein & Cell2021,12,1:3

8Vasculitis with renal involvement in essential mixed cryoglobulinemia:Case report and mini-review显示文摘The discovery of a strong association between hepatitis C virus(HCV) infection and mixed cryoglobulinemia(MC) has led to an increasingly rare diagnosis of idiopathic essential MC(EMC).The incidence of EMC is high in regions where there is a comparatively low HCV infection burden and low in areas of high infection prevalence,including HCV.The diagnosis of EMC requires an extensive laboratory investigation to exclude all possible causes of cryoglobulin formation.In addition,although cryoglobulin testing is simple,improper testing conditions will result in false negative results.Here,we present a 46-year-old female patient with a case of EMC with dermatological and renal manifestations,highlighting the importance of extensive investigation to reacha proper diagnosis.We review the need for appropriate laboratory testing,which is often neglected in clinical practice and which can result in false negative results.This review also emphasizes the significance of an extended testing repertoire necessary for better patient management.Despite a strong association of MC with HCV infection and other causes that lead to cryoglobulin formation,EMC remains a separate entity.Correct diagnosis requires proper temperature regulation during sample handling,as well as characterization and quantification of the cryoprecipitate.Inclusion of rheumatoid factor activity and complement levels in the cryoglobulin test-panel promotes better patient management and monitoring.Consensus guidelines should be developed and implemented for cryoglobulin detection and the diagnosis of cryoglobulinemic syndrome,which will reduce variability in inter-laboratory reporting.Sabiha Anis Khawar Abbas Mohammad Mubarak Ejaz Ahmed Sajid Bhatti Rana Muzaffar 2014World Journal of Clinical Cases2014,2,5:2
