1Stability analysis of dielectric elastomer film actuator显示文摘Dielectric elastomer (DE) is the most promising electroactive polymer material for smart actuators. When a piece of DE film is sandwiched between two compliant electrodes with a high electric field,due to the electrostatic force between the two electrodes,the film expands in-plane and contracts out-of-plane so that its thickness becomes thinner. The thinner thickness results in a higher electric field which inversely squeezes the film again. When the electric field exceeds the critical value,the dielectric field breaks down and the actuator becomes invalid. An elastic strain energy function with two material constants is used to analyze the stability of the dielectric elastomer actuator based on the nonlinear electromechanical field theory. The result shows that the actuator improves its stability as the ratio k of the material constants increases,which can be applied to design of actuators. 2Sustainable Practice in Pavement Engineering through Value-Added Collective Recycling of Waste Plastic and Waste Tyre Rubber显示文摘Waste plastics,such as waste polyethylene terephthalate(PET)beverage bottles and waste rubber tyres are major municipal solid wastes,which may lead to various environmental problems if they are not appropriately recycled.In this study,the feasibility of collectively recycling the two types of waste into performance-increasing modifiers for asphalt pavements was analyzed.This study aimed to investigate the recycling mechanisms of waste PET-derived additives under the treatment of two amines,triethylenetetramine(TETA)and ethanolamine(EA),and characterize the performances of these additives in modifying rubberized bitumen,a bitumen modified by waste tyre rubber.To this end,infrared spectroscopy and thermal analyses were carried out on the two PET-derived additives(PET–TETA and PET–EA).In addition,infrared spectroscopy,viscosity,dynamic shear rheology,and multiple stress creep recovery tests were performed on the rubberized bitumen samples modified by the two PET-derived additives.We concluded that waste PET can be chemically upcycled into functional additives,which can increase the overall performance of the rubberized bitumen.The recycling method developed in this study not only helps alleviate the landfilling problems of both waste PET plastic and scrap tyres,but also turns these wastes into value-added new materials for building durable pavements.Xiong Xu Zhen Leng Jingting Lan Wei Wang Jiangmiao Yu Yawei Bai Anand Sreeram Jing Hu 2021Engineering2021,7,6:7

4Long-term Dynamics of Cultivated Land Resources and Their Driving Forces of Guyuan City in Upper Reaches of Jinghe River显示文摘The land use patterns in Guyuan City,Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region of China,have changed greatly over the years,due to population growth and farming and stock raising development.This study,using 50-year statis-tical data of cultivated land and 14-year spatial data of land use pattern,analyzed the developmental stages,the char-acter,and the spatial variance of farmland in the city,and discussed the driving forces of cultivated land changes based on empirical and conceptual statistical models.First,the change of cultivated land area went through different stages of rapid increase,fluctuating change,decrease and rapid decrease from 1949 to 2004,additionally,social and economic policies in different stages had an important impact on farmland variance.Second,from 1986 to 2000,the quantity of cultivated land increased,but its quality decreased.Third,social and economic factors are determinant factors in culti-vated land transition.Five constructed paths explain cultivated land transition.Factors that have direct or indirect ef-fects on farmland include the economy(Xeco),the population(Xpop),agricultural output(Xagr),and scientific input(Xsci).The sequence of impact was Xeco>Xpop>Xsci>Xagr.Among all these impacts,Xeco was the major positive one,and Xpop was the major negative one.It is urgent to take measures or adopt a policy to stop the vicious cycle in eco-environment and agriculture production.Otherwise,negative patterns of farmland use will increase,and high-quality cultivated land will continue to decline.CHEN Caocao XIE Gaodi ZHEN Lin LENG Yunfa 2008Chinese Geographical Science2008,18,1:3
5Zinc protects against cadmium-induced toxicity in neonatal murine engineered cardiac tissues via metallothionein-dependent and independent mechanisms显示文摘Cadmium(Cd)is a nonessential heavy metal and a prevalent environmental toxin that has been shown to induce significant cardiomyocyte apoptosis in neonatal murine engineered cardiac tissues(ECTs).In contrast,zinc(Zn)is a potent metallothionein(MT)inducer,which plays an important role in protection against Cd toxicity.In this study,we investigated the protective effects of Zn against Cd toxicity in ECTs and explore the underlying mechanisms.ECTs were constructed from neonatal ventricular cells of wild-type(WT)mice and mice with global MT gene deletion(MT-KO).In WT-ECTs,Cd(5−20μM)caused a dose-dependent toxicity that was detected within 8 h evidenced by suppressed beating,apoptosis,and LDH release;Zn(50−200μM)dose-dependently induced MT expression in ECTs without causing ECT toxicity;co-treatment of ECT with Zn(50µM)prevented Cd-induced toxicity.In MT-KO ECTs,Cd toxicity was enhanced;but unexpectedly,cotreatment with Zn provided partial protection against Cd toxicity.Furthermore,Cd,but not Zn,significantly activated Nrf2 and its downstream targets,including HO-1;inhibition of HO-1 by a specific HO-1 inhibitor,ZnPP(10µM),significantly increased Cd-induced toxicity,but did not inhibit Zn protection against Cd injury,suggesting that Nrf2-mediated HO-1 activation was not required for Zn protective effect.Finally,the ability of Zn to reduce Cd uptake provided an additional MT-independent mechanism for reducing Cd toxicity.Thus,Zn exerts protective effects against Cd toxicity for murine ECTs that are partially MT-mediated.Further studies are required to translate thesefindings towards clinical trials.Hai-tao Yu Juan Zhen Jian-xiang Xu Lu Cai Ji-yan Leng Hong-lei Ji Bradley B Keller 2020Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2020,41,5:3
6Total Variation Constrained Non-Negative Matrix Factorization for Medical Image Registration显示文摘This paper presents a novel medical image registration algorithm named total variation constrained graphregularization for non-negative matrix factorization(TV-GNMF).The method utilizes non-negative matrix factorization by total variation constraint and graph regularization.The main contributions of our work are the following.First,total variation is incorporated into NMF to control the diffusion speed.The purpose is to denoise in smooth regions and preserve features or details of the data in edge regions by using a diffusion coefficient based on gradient information.Second,we add graph regularization into NMF to reveal intrinsic geometry and structure information of features to enhance the discrimination power.Third,the multiplicative update rules and proof of convergence of the TV-GNMF algorithm are given.Experiments conducted on datasets show that the proposed TV-GNMF method outperforms other state-of-the-art algorithms.Chengcai Leng Hai Zhang Guorong Cai Zhen Chen Anup Basu 2021IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica2021,8,5:3
7Similar or different: the same Spiro-core but different alkyl chains with apparently improved device performance of perovskite solar cells显示文摘By intelligently utilizing the odd-even effect existing in the melting points of alkanes as presented in the basic textbook of Organic Chemistry, different alkoxy groups were introduced to modify the structure of commercial Spiro-OMeTAD to give new Spiro derivatives of Spiro-OEtTAD, Spiro-OPrTAD, Spiro-OiPrTAD and Spiro-OBuTAD, with the aim to adjust the molecular packing status in perovskite solar cells as hole transporting compounds. 8The digestible phosphorus requirement in practical diet for largemouth bass(Micropterus salmoides)based on growth and feed utilization显示文摘The present study was conducted to estimate the optimum requirement of phosphorus in practical diets for largemouth bass(Micropterus salmoides).Six iso-energetic and iso-nitrogenous diets were formulated with the supplementation of monocalcium phosphate(MCP)of 0,5,10,15,20 and 25 g/kg in basal diet containing 350 g/kg fish meal,respectively.The digestible phosphorus of the six diets was measured as 5.7,6.7,7.8,8.7,9.3 and 10.0 g/kg,respectively.Each diet was randomly fed to triplicate groups of 25 juvenile fish(initial body weight,16.0±0.2 g)for 60 days.The results showed that weight gain increased,and feed conversion ratio decreased with the increase of dietary phosphorus.When dietary MCP exceeded 15 g/kg(digestible phosphorus of 8.7 g/kg),the WG and FCR were maintained at the similar values.The crude ash,phosphorus and calcium contents in whole body,apparent digestibility of phosphorus and protein retention also increased with the increasing phosphorus level in diets.Vertebrae phosphorus and calcium levels and plasma phosphorus showed no further increase when dietary MCP reached 20,20 and 10 g/kg with digestible phosphorus of 9.3,9.3 and 7.8 g/kg,respectively.Broken-line analysis indicated that the digestible phosphorus requirement for largemouth bass were 8.9,8.7 and 9.6 g/kg based on weight gain,feed conversion ratio and vertebral phosphorus content.In conclusion,the supplementation of MCP in a diet containing 350 g/kg fish meal improved the growth and feed utilization of largemouth bass,and the digestible phosphorus requirement was suggested to be 8.7–8.9 g/kg with MCP supplementation of 15.0–15.8 g/kg.Pu Wang Xiaoqin Li Zhen Xu Dong Ji Ming He JiangYu Dang Xiang-jun Leng 2022Aquaculture and Fisheries2022,7,6:2

12Zinc as a countermeasure for cadmium toxicity显示文摘Cadmium(Cd)is an important environmental pollutant and long-term Cd exposure is closely related to autoimmune diseases,cancer,cardiovascular diseases(CVD),and hepatic dysfunction.Zinc(Zn)is an essential metal that plays key roles in protein structure,catalysis,and regulation of their function.Numerous studies have shown that Zn can reduce Cd toxicity;however,the underlying mechanisms have not been extensively explored.Preclinical studies have revealed direct competition for sarcolemmal uptake between these two metals.Multiple sarcolemmal transporters participate in Cd uptake,including Zn transporters,calcium channels,and DMT1(divalent metal transporter 1).Zn also induces several protective mechanisms,including MT(metallothionein)induction and favorable redox homeostasis.This review summarizes current knowledge related to the role of Zn and metal transporters in reducing Cd toxicity and discusses potential future directions of related research.Hai-tao Yu Juan Zhen Ji-yan Leng Lu Cai Hong-lei Ji Bradley B.Keller 2021Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2021,42,3:1

14Effect of mechanical force field on the electromechanical stability of dielectric elastomers显示文摘To study the electromechanical stability of dielectric elastomer subjected to a mechanical force field, we use free energy functions of variable forms to analyze the mechanical performance of dielectric elastomer. The relation among critical nominal electric field, critical true electric field, nominal stress and mechanical force field is derived. These calculations agree well with the experimental results. 18Determination of cefcapene acid by LC-MS and their application to a pharmacokinetic study in healthy Chinese volunteers显示文摘Simple,rapid and specific liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry(LC-MS) methods have been developed and validated for the quantification of cefcapene acid in human plasma and urine.Plasma samples were simply pretreated with methanol for deproteinization.Urine samples were briefly diluted with methanol-water(50:50,v/v),and centrifuged to remove large particles.Chromatographic separation was performed on a Hedera ODS-2 column.For the plasma assay,the isocratic mobile phase consisted of 35% solvent A(Methanol) and 65% solvent B(10 mM ammonium acetate buffer solution containing 0.2% folic acid) with a flow rate of 0.3 mL/min.For the urine assay,the isocratic mobile phase consisted of 30% solvent A(Methanol) and 70% solvent B(10 mM ammonium acetate buffer solution containing 0.2% folic acid) with a flow rate of 0.3 mL/min.The assays were linear over the concentration ranges of 0.03-5 μg/mL in plasma and 0.1-400 μg/mL in urine,and were successfully applied to a pharmacokinetic study after single and multiple oral administrations of cefcapene pivoxil hydrochloride tablets in healthy Chinese volunteers.Hong-Fei Duan Li Ding Xiao-Bing Li Lin-Lin Hu Ai-Dong Wen Ye Leng Zhen Liu 2013Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2013,3,2:1
19Efficacy of phytogenic extracts on growth performance and health of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus × O. aureus)显示文摘The present study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of phytogenic extract on growth and health of tilapia.Three experimental diets were designed as the basal diet(Con)and phytogenic extract(Flourishing,F)supplemented diets at 0.5 and 1 g/kg inclusion(F-1 and F-2),which the phytogenic additive was extracted from Eucommia ulmoides,Astragalus membranaceus,Lonicera japonica and Codonopsis pilosula.The three diets were fed to juvenile tilapia(14.0±0.1 g)with 30 fish per cage,and three replicate cages from the three groups were placed in one indoor concrete pool(a total of three pools were used).After 8 weeks of feeding,the weight gain was significantly increased,and feed conversion ratio was decreased in F-2 group(P<0.05)when compared to the control.Both levels of phytogenic extract significantly promoted the retentions of protein and lipid and the apparent digestibility coefficient of dry matter and protein(P<0.05).The activity of superoxide dismutase and the levels of white blood cells,haemoglobin and glutamic pyruvic transaminase were also significantly increased by the supplementation of phytogenic extract(P<0.05).The villus height in anterior intestine was significantly enhanced in F-1 and F-2 groups(P<0.05).After challenging with Aeromonas hydrophila,the cumulative mortality was significantly declined in F-1 and F-2 groups(P<0.05).In summary,the dietary supplementation of phytogenic extract at 1 g/kg feed could provide positive efficiency on growth,nutrient utilization,immunity,gut morphology and disease resistance of tilapia under the present conditions.Lumpan Poolsawat Yifeng Yu Xiaoqin Li Xu Zhen Wenxiang Yao Pu Wang Congyan Luo Xiangjun Leng 2022Aquaculture and Fisheries2022,7,4:0
20Texturing and evaluation of concrete pavement surface:A state-of-the-art review显示文摘Concrete pavement is accompanied by two major functional properties,namely noise emission and friction,which are closely related to pavement surface texture.While several technologies have been developed to mitigate tirepavement noise and improve driving friction by surface texturization,limited information is available to compare the advantages and disadvantages of different surface textures.In this study,a state-of-the-art and state-of-thepractice review is conducted to investigate the noise reduction and friction improvement technologies for concrete pavement surfaces.The commonly used tests for characterizing the surface texture,skid resistance,and noise emission of concrete pavement were first summarized.Then,the texturing methods for both fresh and hardened concrete pavement surfaces were discussed,and the friction,noise emission and durability performances of various surface textures were compared.It is found that the next generation concrete surface(NGCS)texture generally provides the best noise emission performance and excellent friction properties.The exposed aggregate concrete(EAC)and optimized diamond grinding textures are also promising alternatives.Lastly,the technical parameters for the application of both diamond grinding and diamond grinding&grooving textures were recommended based on the authors'research and practical experience in Germany and the US.This study offers a convenient reference to the pavement researchers and engineers who seek to quickly understand relevant knowledge and choose the most appropriate surface textures for concrete pavements.Zhen Leng Zepeng Fan Pengfei Liu Jonas Kollmann Markus Oeser Dawei Wang Xi Jiang 2023Journal of Road Engineering2023,3,3:0
