1Mineralogical and geochemical features of sulfide chimneys from the 49°39′E hydrothermal field on the Southwest Indian Ridge and their geological inferences显示文摘During January–May in 2007,the Chinese research cruise DY115-19 discovered an active hydrothermal field at 49°39′E/37°47′S on the ultraslow spreading Southwest Indian Ridge (SWIR).This was also the first active hydrothermal field found along an ultraslow-spreading ridge.We analyzed mineralogical,textural and geochemical compositions of the sulfide chimneys obtained from the 49°39′E field.Chimney samples show a concentric mineral zone around the fluid channel.The mineral assemblages of the interiors consist mainly of chalcopyrite,with pyrite and sphalerite as minor constitunets.In the intermediate portion,pyrite becomes the dominant mineral,with chalcopyrite and sphalerite as minor constitunets.For the outer wall,the majority of minerals are pyrite and sphalerite,with few chalcopyrite.Towards the outer margin of the chimney wall,the mineral grains become small and irregular in shape gradually,while minerals within interstices are abundant.These features are similar to those chimney edifices found on the East Pacific Rise and Mid-Atlantic Ridge.The average contents of Cu,Fe and Zn in our chimney samples were 2.83 wt%,45.6 wt% and 3.28 wt%,respectively.The average Au and Ag contents were up to 2.0 ppm and 70.2 ppm respectively,higher than the massive sulfides from most hydrothermal fields along mid-ocean ridge.The rare earth elements geochemistry of the sulfide chimneys show a pattern distinctive from the sulfides recovered from typical hydrothermal fields along sedimentstarved mid-ocean ridge,with the enrichment of light rare earth elements but the weak,mostly negative,Eu anomaly.This is attributed to the distinct mineralization environment or fluid compositions in this area.TAO ChunHui LI HuaiMing HUANG Wei HAN XiQiu WU GuangHai SU Xin ZHOU Ning LIN Jian HE YongHua ZHOU JianPing 2011Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,26:34
2Seafloor hydrothermal activity and polymetallic sulfide exploration on the southwest Indian ridge显示文摘Polymetallic sulfides have attracted more attentions,which are regarded as one of the potential seabed mineral resources for their high grade of precious metal elements such as Cu,Zn,Pb,Au,and Ag.Since2007,there are four China dayang cruises(CDCs)with eight legs totally,which have been carried out to investigate polymetallic sulfides on the southwest Indian ridge(SWIR),and eight hydrothermal vents have been found.In2011,the China Ocean Mineral Resources Research and Development Association(COMRA)and International Seabed Authority(ISA)signed a 15-year contract for exploration for polymetallic sulfides located on the SWIR between 46°S and 53°S.The area allocated to the COMRA is approximately 10,000 km2.In this paper,we review the recent research advances about hydrothermal activity of the SWIR by the CDCs.As for the sulfides exploration in the future,some aspects should be emphasized,such as the controlling factors of sulfide mineralization on the SWIR,prospecting methods of inactive and buried sulfide deposits,sulfides resources assessment method,and the nearbottom sulfides exploration technology systems.Chunhui Tao Huaiming Li Xiaobing Jin Jianping Zhou Tao Wu Yonghua He Xianming Deng Chunhua Gu Guoyin Zhang Weiyong Liu 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,19:25

5Time correction of the ocean bottom seismometers deployed at the southwest Indian ridge using ambient noise cross-correlation显示文摘Seismic monitoring using ocean bottom seismometers(OBS) is an efficient method for investigating earthquakes in mid-ocean ridge far away from land. Clock synchronization among the OBSs is difficult without direct communication because electromagnetic signals cannot propagate efficiently in water. Time correction can be estimated through global positioning system(GPS) synchronization if clock drift is linear before and after the deployment. However, some OBSs in the experiments at the southwest Indian ridge(SWIR) on the Chinese DY125-34 cruise had not been re-synchronized from GPS after recovery. So we attempted to estimate clock drift between each station pairs using time symmetry analysis(TSA) based on ambient noise cross-correlation. We tested the feasibility of the TSA method by analyzing daily noise cross-correlation functions(NCFs) that extract from the data of another OBS experiment on the Chinese DY125-40 cruise with known clock drift and the same deployment site. The results suggest that the NCFs' travel time of surface wave between any two stations are symmetrical and have an opposite growing direction with the date. The influence of different band-pass filters,different components and different normalized methods was discussed. The TSA method appeared to be optimal for the hydrophone data within the period band of 2–5 s in dozens of km-scale interstation distances. A significant clock drift of ~2 s was estimated between OBSs sets through linear regression during a 108-d deployment on the Chinese cruise DY125-34. 6Petrophysical characteristics of rocks and sulfides from the SWIR hydrothermal field显示文摘Study of petrophysical properties of rocks in seafloor hydrothermal fields has great significance for investigation of seafloor hydrothermal activities,especially for polymetallic sulfides prospecting.In the present study,based on the current experimental conditions,we conducted systematic experiments to measure the magnetic susceptibility,electrical resistivity,porosity,density,as well as acoustic wave velocity of seafloor rocks and sulfides.Subsequently,we measured the physical characteristics of hydrothermal sulfides,basalts and peridotites which were collected from newly discovered seafloor hydrothermal fields at 49.6°E,50.5°E,51°E,63.5°E,and 63.9°E of the Southwest Indian Ridge(SWIR).Previously available and newly collected data were combined to characterize the physical differences between polymetallic sulfides and rocks.We also discussed the impact of hydrothermal alteration on the bedrock and demonstrated how these petrophysical properties of rocks can help in geophysical prospecting of seafloor hydrothermal fields as indicators.TAO Chunhui WU Tao JIN Xiaobing DOU Bingjun LI Huaiming ZHOU Jianping 2013Acta Oceanologica Sinica2013,32,12:5
7Use of portable X-ray fluorescence in the analysis of surficial sediments in the exploration of hydrothermal vents on the Southwest Indian Ridge显示文摘Hydrothermal plumes released from the eruption of sea floor hydrothermal fluids contain large amounts of oreforming materials. They precipitate within certain distances from the hydrothermal vent. Six surficial sediment samples from the Southwest Indian Ridge(SWIR) were analyzed by a portable X-ray fluorescence(PXRF) analyzer on board to find a favorable method fast and efficient enough for sea floor sulfide sediment geochemical exploration. These sediments were sampled near, at a moderate distance from, or far away from hydrothermal vents. The results demonstrate that the PXRF is effective in determining the enrichment characteristics of the oreforming elements in the calcareous sediments from the mid-ocean ridge. Sediment samples(>40 mesh) have high levels of elemental copper, zinc, iron, and manganese, and levels of these elements in sediments finer than 40 mesh are lower and relatively stable. This may be due to relatively high levels of basalt debris/glass in the coarse sediments, which are consistent with the results obtained by microscopic observation. The results also show clear zoning of elements copper, zinc, arsenic, iron, and manganese in the surficial sediments around the hydrothermal vent. Sediments near the vent show relatively high content of the ore-forming elements and either high ratios of copper to iron content and zinc to iron content or high ratios of copper to manganese content and zinc to manganese content. These findings show that the content of the ore-forming elements in the sediments around hydrothermal vents are mainly influenced by the distance of sediments to the vent, rather than grain size. In this way, the PXRF analysis of surface sediment geochemistry is found to satisfy the requirements of recognition geochemical anomaly in mid-ocean ridge sediments. Sediments with diameters finer than 40 mesh should be used as analytical samples in the geochemical exploration for hydrothermal vents on mid-oceanic ridges. 8Newly discovered hydrothermal fields along the ultraslow-spreading Southwest Indian Ridge around 63°E显示文摘The ultraslow-spreading Southwest Indian Ridge(SWIR) to the east of the Melville fracture zone is characterized by very low melt supply and intensive tectonic activity. Due to its weak thermal budget and extremely slow spreading rate, the easternmost SWIR was considered to be devoid of hydrothermal activity until the discovery of the inactive Mt. Jourdanne hydrothermal field(27°51′S, 63°56′E) in 1998. During the COMRA DY115-20 cruise in2009, two additional hydrothermal fields(i.e., the Tiancheng(27°51′S, 63°55′E) and Tianzuo(27°57′S, 63°32′E)fields) were discovered. Further detailed investigations of these two hydrothermal sites were conducted by Chinese manned submersible Jiaolong in 2014–2015. The Tiancheng filed can be characterized as a lowtemperature(up to 13.2°C) diffuse flow hydrothermal field, and is hosted by fractured basalts with hydrothermal fauna widespread on the seafloor. The Tianzuo hydrothermal field is an inactive sulfide field, which is hosted by ultramafic rocks and controlled by detachment fault. The discovery of the three hydrothermal fields around Segment #11 which receives more melt than the regional average, provided evidence for local enhanced magmatism providing heat source to drive hydrothermal circulation. 9Mineralogical characteristics of polymetallic sulfides from the Deyin-1 hydrothermal field near 15°S, southern Mid-Atlantic Ridge显示文摘A seafloor hydrothermal field, named Deyin-1 later, near 15°S southern Mid-Atlantic Ridge(SMAR) was newly found during the 22 nd cruise carried out by the China Ocean Mineral Resources Research & Development Association(COMRA). Sulfide samples were collected at three stations from the hydrothermal field during the26 th cruise in 2012. In this paper, mineralogical characteristics of the sulfides were analyzed with optical microscope, X-ray diffractometer, scanning electron microscope and electron microprobe to study the crystallization sequence of minerals and the process of hydrothermal mineralization. According to the difference of the ore-forming metal elements, the sulfide samples can be divided into three types:(1) the Ferich sulfide, which contains mainly pyrite and chalcopyrite;(2) the Fe-Cu-rich sulfide consisting predominantly of pyrite, chalcopyrite and isocubanite, with lesser amount of sphalerite, marmatite and pyrrhotine; and(3) the Fe-Zn-rich sulfide dominated by pyrite, sphalerite and marmatite, with variable amounts of chalcopyrite, isocubanite, pyrrhotine, marcasite, galena and gratonite. Mineral precipitations in these sulfides are in the sequence of chalcopyrite(isocubanite and possible coarse pyrite), fine pyrite,sphalerite(marmatite), galena, gratonite and then the minerals out of the dissolution. Two morphologically distinct generations(Py-I and Py-II) of pyrite are identified in each of the samples; inclusions of marmatite tend to exist in the coarse pyrite crystals(Py-I). Sphalerite in the Fe-Zn-rich sulfide is characterized by a'chalcopyrite disease' phenomenon. Mineral paragenetic relationships and a wide range of chemical compositions suggest that the environment of hydrothermal mineralization was largely changing. By comparison, the Fe-rich sulfide was formed in a relatively stable environment with a high temperature, but the conditions for the formation of the Fe-Cu-rich sulfide were variable. 10One-Step Preparation of Green Fabric for Continuous Antibacterial Applications显示文摘Polypropylene(PP)scaffolds are the most commonly used biomedical scaffolds despite their disadvan-tages,which include problems with adhesion,infection,and inflammatory responses.Here,we report on the successful development of a facile one-step method to fabricate a series of novel triclosan poly-dopamine polypropylene(TPP)composite scaffolds and thereby effectively improve the biocompatibility and long-term antibacterial properties of PP scaffolds.The antibacterial triclosan can effectively interact with dopamine during biocompatible polydopamine formation on the PP scaffold by one-step green fab-rication.Thanks to the sustained release of triclosan from the biocompatible polydopamine coating,a 5mm×5mm sample of TPP-coated scaffold made with a triclosan concentration of 8 mg-mL^(-1)(referredto herein as TPP-8)exhibited a continuous antibacterial effect against both Escherichia coli(E.coli)and Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus)for more than 15d,at maximum antibacterial volumes of 2 and 5mL,respectively.Our study establishes a new direction for facile long-term antibacterial studies for medical applications.Rongkang Huang Minghui Hu Weiwen Liang Juanjuan Zheng Yang Du Yanhuan Lin Huaiming Wang Wentai Guo Zhantao Zeng Chuangkun Li Ming Li Hui Wang Xingcai Zhang 2021Engineering2021,7,3:3
11Geochemical Features of Sulfides from the Deyin-1 Hydrothermal Field at the Southern Mid-Atlantic Ridge near 15?S显示文摘In this study, geochemical compositions of elements in sulfide samples collected from the Deyin-1 hydrothermal field near the 15?S southern Mid-Atlantic Ridge(SMAR) were analyzed by the X-ray fluorescence spectrometry(XRF) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-MS) to examine the enrichment regulations of ore-forming elements and hydrothermal mineralization. These sulfide precipitates can be classified macroscopically into three types: Fe-rich sulfide, Fe-Cu-rich sulfide and Fe-Zn-rich sulfide, and are characterized by the enrichment of base metal elements along with a sequence of Fe>Zn>Cu. Compared with sulfides from other hydrothermal fields on MAR, Zn concentrations of sulfides in the research area are significantly high, while Cu concentrations are relatively low. For all major, trace or rare-earth elements(REE), their concentrations and related characteristic parameters exhibit significant variations(up to one or two orders of magnitude), which indicates the sulfides from different hydrothermal vents or even a same station were formed at different stages of hydrothermal mineralization, and suggests the variations of chemical compositions of the hydrothermal fluid with respect to time. The hydrothermal temperatures of sulfides precipitation decreased gradually from station TVG10(st.TVG10) to st.TVG12, and to st.TVG11, indicating that the precipitation of hydrothermal sulfides is subjected to conditions changed from high temperature to low temperature, and that the hydrothermal activity of study area was at the late stage of a general trend of evolution from strong to weak. The abnormally low concentrations of REE in sulfides and their similar chondrite-normalized REE patterns show that REEs in all sulfides were derived from a same source, but underwent different processes of migration or enrichment, or sulfides were formed at different stages of hydrothermal mineralization. The sulfides collected from the active hydrothermal vent were mainly attributed to precipitating directly from the hydrothermal fluid, while those collected from the extinct hydrothermal chimney might have already been altered by the seawater. Generally, ore-forming elements in the sulfides can be divided into three groups: Fe-based element group, Cu-based element group and Zn-based element group. The first group includes Fe, Mn, Cr, Mo, Sn, Rb and bio-enriching elements, such as P and Si, reflecting the similar characteristics to Fe in the study area. And the second group contains Cu, W, Co, Se, Te and Bi, suggesting the similar behavior with Cu. 12A data processing method for MAPR hydrothermal plume turbidity data and its application in the Precious Stone Mountain hydrothermal field显示文摘Hydrothermal plume is an important constituent of seabed hydrothermal circulation and is also one of the characteristics of active hydrothermal vents. Portable Miniature Autonomous Plume Recorders(MAPR) attached to a towed deep-sea instrument was used to search for hydrothermal plumes and hydrothermal vents. We introduced the basic principle of MAPR based on deep towing technology to detect plumes, then analyzed the factors affecting the quality of the MAPR data and presented a data correction method for MAPR, including instrument location correction, noise reduction processing, system error elimination and seawater background reduction. Finally we applied the method to analyze MAPR data obtained during the Chinese DY115-21 cruise on R/V Dayang I in the 'Precious Stone Mountain' hydrothermal field on the Galapagos Microplate. 13空肠间置术能快速改善非肥胖2型糖尿病大鼠的糖耐量并缓慢改善胰岛素抵抗显示文摘背景:许多研究已证实,回肠间置术能改善2型糖尿病(T2DM),同时胰高血糖素样肽-1(GLP-1)水平上升。我们采用糖尿病大鼠模型进行研究,评估回肠间置术对糖代谢的影响及其机制。方法:20只GK大鼠被随机分为回肠间置组和假手术组。分别于术前及术后1、4、8、16、24周检测大鼠体重、进食量、空腹血糖(FPG)、空腹胰岛素(F-ins)、口服葡萄糖耐量试验(OGTT)和GLP-1水平。计算稳态模型胰岛素抵抗指数(HOMA-IR)和OGTT曲线下面积(AUC)。术后24周处死大鼠,检测胰腺和回肠组织中GLP-1受体(GLP-1R)的表达水平。结果:与假手术组相比,回肠间置组大鼠术后4、8、16和24周血GLP-1水平更高(均P<0.05),术后8、16和24周FPG、F-ins和HOMAIR水平更低(均P<0.05)。与术前相比,回肠间置组术后各个时间点均可观察到血GLP-1、AUC和FPG水平的下降(均P<0.05);术后8、16和24周F-ins和HOMA-IR也显著下降(均P<0.05)。术后24周,无论是胰腺还是回肠组织,回肠间置组大鼠的GLP-1R表达水平均显著高于假手术组(均P<0.05)。结论:回肠间置可改善GK大鼠的糖代谢,且不会导致体重的下降和进食量的减少,这可能与GLP-1水平升高有关。而后期胰岛素抵抗的改善和胰岛素水平的下降可能并不直接受益于GLP-1水平的升高。Hengliang Zhu Huaiming Wang Zhihai Zheng Bailiang Ye Xiaojiao Ruan Xiaofeng Zheng Guoxin Li 2018Gastroenterology Report2018,6,4:0
14Facile fabrication of cordierite-based porous ceramics with magnetic properties显示文摘In this paper,cordierite-based porous ceramics with magnetic properties have been firstly in-situ synthesized by using MgO,Al_(2)O_(3),and SiO_(2) powders as raw materials and Fe_(3)O_(4) as a functional additive.Combining with the foam freeze casting method,near net size fabrication(total linear shrinkage<2.86%)of the magnetic porous materials was realized by adjusting the amount of Fe_(3)O_(4).The porosity,compressive strength,and saturation magnetization of the prepared materials were 83.9%-87.8%,1.51-2.65 MPa,and 1.2-5.8 emu/g,respectively.The phase composition and microstructure evolutions during sintering were investigated briefly.The results showed that the synthesis temperature of cordierite was lowered about 100℃ due to the addition of Fe_(3)O_(4).Except for the main phase-cordierite,Mg-Al-Fe spinel and α-Fe_(2)O_(3) also existed in the final materials.The lattice parameters of the Mg-Al-Fe spinel and the amount of α-Fe_(2)O_(3) changed obviously with the change in the sintering temperature and Fe_(3)O_(4) amount,which mainly influenced the magnetic properties of the prepared materials.Thus,a facile fabrication method of the cordierite-based porous ceramics with the magnetic properties has been put forward in this paper.Hao LI Cuiwei LI Huaiming JIA Guangjin CHEN Siyuan LI Kepi CHEN Chang-An WANG Liang QIAO 2022Journal of Advanced Ceramics2022,11,10:0
15Evolving patterns of the fluids within the TAG hydrothermal field显示文摘The mixing of seawater/hydrothermal fluid within the large seafloor hydrothermal sulfide deposits plays a key role in the formation processes of the sulfide deposits.Some issues attract considerable attentions in the study of seafloor hydrothermal system in recent years,such as the relationships among different types of vent fluids,the characteristics of chemical compositions and mineral assemblages of the hydrothermal deposits and their governing factors.Combined with the measured data of hydrothermal fluid in the TAG field,the thermodynamic model of mixing processes of the heated seawater at different temperatures and the hydrothermal fluid is calculated to understand the precipitation mechanism of anhydrite and the genetic relationships between the black and white smoker fluids within the TAG mound.The results indicate that the heating of seawater and the mixing of hydrothermal fluid/seawater are largely responsible for anhydrite precipitation and the temperature of the heated seawater is not higher than 150 ℃ and the temperature of the end-member hydrothermal fluid is not lower than 400℃.Based on the simulated results,the evolving patterns of fluids within the TAG deposit are discussed.The mixed fluid of the end-member hydrothermal fluid and the seawater heated by wall rock undergoes conductive cooling during upflowing within the deposit and forms 'White Smoker' eventually.In addition,the end-member hydrothermal fluid without mixed with seawater,but undergoing conductive cooling,vents out of the deposit and forms 'Black Smoker'.LI HuaiMing ZHAI ShiKui YU ZengHui TAO ChunHui CHU FengYou 2009Science China Earth Sciences2009,52,1:0
16Wear Properties of Spark Plasma‑Sintered AlCoCrFeNi2.1 Eutectic High Entropy Alloy with NbC Additions显示文摘AlCoCrFeNi_(2.1-x)NbC(x=0,2.5,7.5,and 10 wt%,denoted as NbC0,NbC2.5,NbC7.5,and NbC10)high-entropy alloy(HEA)matrix composites were fabricated by mechanical alloying(MA)and spark plasma sintering(SPS)methods.The effect of NbC content on the microstructures,Vickers hardness,and wear properties of AlCoCrFeNi_(2.1) eutectic high entropy alloy(EHEA)was systematically investigated.The results indicate that the AlCoCrFeNi_(2.1) alloy consisted of FCC,B2,Al_(2)O_(3),and Cr_(7)C_(3) phases,while the AlCoCrFeNi_(2.1-x)NbC(x>0)alloys consisted of FCC,NbC,Al_(2)O_(3),and Cr_(7)C_(3) phases.The AlCoCrFeNi_(2.1-x)NbC alloys exhibit excellent Vickers hardness with 679 HV,664 HV,677 HV,and 695 HV,respectively.In addition,with the addition of NbC,the average friction coefficient and wear rate of the AlCoCrFeNi_(2.1)-xNbC alloys decrease from 0.59 to 0.42 and from 1.5.10–5 mm^(3) N^(−1) m^(−1) to 2.4.10–6 mm^(3) N^(−1) m^(−1),respectively.Wherein,NbC10 alloy shows the smallest average friction coefficient of 0.42 and lowest wear rate of 2.4.10–6 mm^(3) N^(−1) m^(−1),indicating that the NbC10 alloy displays the best wear resistance.And the wear mechanism of the NbC10 alloy was oxidation wear accompanied by slight adhesive wear.Hui Jiang Li Li Jianming Wang Chengbin Wei Qiang Zhang Chunjian Su Huaiming Sui 2023Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2023,36,6:0
17Numerical simulation for fluids mixing within seafloor hydrothermal sulfide deposit:taking the Trans-Atlantic Geo-Traverse (TAG) field for example显示文摘The formation mechanism of the large hydrothermal sulfide deposit is a complex geological process involving many controlling factors. Mixing between hydrothermal fluid and seawater plays a key role in this process. The results of the Ocean Drilling Program(ODP) indicate that mixing of the evolved seawater and hydrothermal fluid,which is wildly developed within the Trans-Atlantic Geo-Traverse(TAG) hydrothermal deposit,governs the internal structure and chemical compositions of the deposit to great extent. Taking the TAG field for example,the mixing processes of hydrothermal fluid with the seawater heated to different extent are calculated,so as to discuss the impact of hydrothermal fluid/seawater mixing on the formation process of the sulfide deposit. The results indicate that:(1) mixing between the heated seawater and hydrothermal fluid derived from the deep deposit is largely responsible for the wild precipitation of anhydrite within the TAG hydrothermal deposit;(2) 330-310 C is a special temperature range in the mixing process;(3) the mixing and hydrothermal processes in different zones of the TAG hydrothermal deposit(TAG-1,TAG-2 and TAG-5,etc.) have been discussed based on the simulated results.LI Huaiming ZHAI Shikui TAO Chunhui YU Zenghui CHU Fengyou 2010Acta Oceanologica Sinica2010,29,1:0
