1Potential influence of water level changes on energy flows in a lake food web显示文摘Large seasonal water-level fluctuations may influence isotopic signatures of primary producers and the types and amounts of these potential food sources accessible to aquatic fauna of Poyang Lake,the largest freshwater lake in China.In this study,the isotopic signatures of primary producers and consumers were determined,stable carbon and nitrogen isotope analysis and mixing models were combined to investigate the influence of water levels on the diet and isotopic composition of Poyang Lake fish and invertebrates.Five potential food sources (seston,benthic organic matter,aquatic macrophytes,attached algae,and terrestrial plants),4 species of invertebrates,and 10 species of fish were collected from the lake area during dry and wet seasons between January 2009 and April 2010.The δ 13C values of invertebrates and most fish were within the range of δ 13C values of the potential food sources for both seasons.The δ 13C values of invertebrates and most fish were lower in the dry season than in the wet season,whereas the δ 15N values exhibited different patterns for different species.Mixing models indicated that the most important food sources for common lake fauna were seston in the dry season and aquatic macrophytes and terrestrial plants in the wet season.The fauna were more omnivorous in the wet season than in the dry season.The food web dynamics of Poyang Lake are strongly influenced by changes in the abundance and accessibility of different basal food sources that occur because of seasonal flood pulses.The trophic links within the aquatic communities of Poyang Lake are modified by water-level fluctuations.WANG YuYu YU XiuBo LI WenHua XU Jun CHEN YuWei FAN Na 2011Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,26:11
2Tuning Superhydrophobic Materials with Negative Surface Energy Domains显示文摘Hydrophobic/superhydrophobic materials with intrinsic water repellence are highly desirable in engineering fields including antiicing in aerocrafts,antidrag and anticorrosion in ships,and antifog and self-cleaning in optical lenses,screen,mirrors,and windows.However,superhydrophobic material should have small surface energy(SE)and a micro/nanosurface structure which can reduce solid-liquid contact significantly.The low SE is generally found in organic materials with inferior mechanical properties that is undesirable in engineering.Intriguingly,previous theoretical calculations have predicted a negative SE forθ-alumina(θ-Al_(2)O_(3)),which inspires us to use it as a superhydrophobic material.Here,we report the experimental evidence of the small/negative SE ofθ-Al_(2)O_(3) and aθ-Al_(2)O_(3)-based superhydrophobic coating prepared by one-step scalable plasma arcing oxidation.The superhydrophobic coating has complete ceramic and desired micro/nanostructure and therefore exhibits excellent aging resistance,wear resistance,corrosion resistance,high-temperature tolerance,and burning resistance.Owing to the rarity of the small/negative SE in inorganic materials,the concept to reduce SE byθ-Al_(2)O_(3) may foster a blowout to develop robust superhydrophobicity by complete inorganic materials.Zhongzhen Wu Liangliang Liu Shunning Li Shunping Ji Pinghu Chen Suihan Cui Zhengyong Ma Yuchang Weng Qian Huang Zhongcan Wu Hao Wu Yuan Lin Ricky KYFu Hai Lin Xiubo Tian Paul KChu Feng Pan 2019Research2019,,1:6
3Quantum network communication: a discrete-time quantum-walk approach显示文摘We study the problem of quantum multi-unicast communication over the butterfly network in a quantum-walk architecture, where multiple arbitrary single-qubit states are transmitted simultaneously between multiple source-sink pairs. Here, by introducing quantum walks, we demonstrate a quantum multiunicast communication scheme over the butterfly network and the inverted crown network, respectively,where the arbitrary single-qubit states can be efficiently transferred with both the probability and the state fidelity one. The presented result concerns only the butterfly network and the inverted crown network, but our techniques can be applied to a more general graph. 4Quantum network coding for multi-unicast problem based on 2D and 3D cluster states显示文摘We mainly consider quantum multi-unicast problem over directed acyclic network, where each source wishes to transmit an independent message to its target via bottleneck channel. Taking the advantage of global entanglement state 2D and 3D cluster states, these problems can be solved efficiently. At first, a universal scheme for the generation of resource states among distant communication nodes is provided. The corresponding between cluster and bigraph leads to a constant temporal resource cost. Furthermore, a new approach based on stabilizer formalism to analyze the solvability of several underlying quantum multi-unicast networks is presented. It is found that the solvability closely depends on the choice of stabilizer generators for a given cluster state. And then, with the designed measurement basis and parallel measurement on intermediate nodes, we propose optimal protocols for these multi-unicast sessions. 6Synergic catalytic effect of Ti hydride and Nb nanoparticles for improving hydrogenation and dehydrogenation kinetics of Mg-based nanocomposite显示文摘The Mg-9.3 wt%(TiH_(1.971)-TiH)-0.7 wt% Nb nanocomposite has been synthesized by hydrogen plasma-metal reaction(HPMR) approach to enhance the hydrogen sorption kinetics of Mg at moderate temperatures by providing nanosizing effect of increasing H 'diffusion channels' and adding transition metallic catalysts. The Mg nanoparticles(NPs) were in hexagonal shape range from 50 to 350 nm and the average size of the NPs was 177 nm. The small spherical TiH_(1.971), TiH and Nb NPs of about 25 nm uniformly decorated on the surface of the big Mg NPs. The Mg-TiH_(1.971)-TiH-Nb nanocomposite could quickly absorb 5.6 wt% H_2 within 5 min at 573 K and 4.5 wt% H_2 within 5 min at 523 K, whereas the pure Mg prepared by HPMR could only absorb 4 and 1.5 wt% H_2 at the same temperatures. TiH_(1.971), TiH and Nb NPs transformed into TiH_2 and Nb H during hydrogenation and recovered after dehydrogenation process. The apparent activation energies of the nanocomposite for hydrogenation and dehydrogenation were 45.0 and 50.7 kJ mol^(-1), which are much smaller than those of pure Mg NPs, 123.8 and 127.7 kJ mol^(-1). 10Building African Ecosystem Research Network for Sustaining Local Ecosystem Goods and Services显示文摘A new form of producing and sharing knowledge has emerged as an international(United States of America,Asia,and Europe) research collaboration,known as the Long-Term Ecological Research(LTER) Network.Although Africa boasts rich biodiversity,including endemic species,it lacks the long-term initiatives to underpin sustainable biodiversity managements.At present,climate change may exacerbate hunger and poverty concerns in addition to resulting in ecosystem degradation,land use change,and other threats in Africa.Therefore,ecosystem monitoring was suggested to understanding the effects of climate change and setting strategies to mitigate these changes.This paper aimed to investigate ecosystem monitoring ground sites and address their coverage gaps in Africa to provide a foundation for optimizing the African Ecosystem Research Network(AERN) ground sites.The geographic coordinates and characteristics of ground sites-based ecosystem monitoring were collected from various networks aligned with the LTER implementation in Africa.Additionally,climatic data and biodiversity distribution maps were retrieved from various sources.These data were used to assess the size of existing ground sites and the gaps in description,ecosystems and biomes.The results reveal that there were 1089 sites established by various networks.Among these sites,30.5%,27.5%,and 28.8% had no information of area,year of establishment,current status,respectively.However,68.0% of them had an area equal to or greater than 1 km2.Sites were created progressively over the course of the years,with 68.9% being created from 2000 to 2005.To date,only 41.5% of the sites were operational.The sites were scattered across Africa,but they were concentrated in Eastern and Southern Africa.The unbalanced distribution pattern of the sites left Central and Northern Africa hardly covered,and many unique ecosystems in Central Africa were not included.To sustain these sites,the AERN should be based on operational sites,seeking secure funding by establishing multiple partnerships.Armand Sedami Igor YEVIDE WU Bingfang YU Xiubo LI Xiaosong LIU Yu LIU Jian 2015Chinese Geographical Science2015,25,4:1
11Self-anti-angiogenesis nanoparticles enhance anti-metastatic-tumor efficacy of chemotherapeutics显示文摘Beyond traditional endothelium-dependent vessel(EDV),vascular mimicry(VM)is another critical tumor angiogenesis that further forms in many malignant metastatic tumors.However,the existing anti-angiogenesis combined chemotherapeutics strategies are only efficient for the treatment of EDV-based subcutaneous tumors,but remain a great challenge for the treatment of in situ malignant metastatic tumor associated with EDV and VM.Here,we demonstrate a self-assembled nanoparticle(VE-DDP-Pro)featuring self-anti-EDV and-VM capacity enables to significantly enhance the treatment efficacy of cisplatin(DDP)against the growth and metastasis of ovarian cancer.The VE-DDP-Pro is constructed by patching DDP loaded cRGD-folate-heparin nanoparticles(VE)onto the surface of protamine(Pro)nanoparticle.We demonstrated the self-anti-angiogenesis capacity of VE-DDP-Pro was attributed to VE,which could significantly inhibit the formation of EDV and VM by regulating signaling pathway of MMP-2/VEGF,AKT/mTOR/MMP-2/Laminin and AKT/mTOR/EMT,facilitating chemotherapeutics to effectively suppress the development and metastasis of ovarian cancer.Thus,combing with the chemotherapeutics effectiveness of DDP,the VE-DDP-Pro can significantly enhance treatment efficacy and prolong median survival of mice with metastatic ovarian cancer.We believe our self-assembled nanoparticles integrating the anti-EDV and anti-VM capacity provide a new preclinical sight to enhance the efficacy of chemotherapeutics for the treatment malignant metastasis tumor.Jiamao Luo Xinxian Zhong Yingming Peng Chenyuan Hao Xiaomei Liang Yulu Yang Xiubo Shi Xuncai Chen Xiao Yi iaoxuan Li Jianhua Wu Jinheng Li Qian Xiao Chentian Wu b Ruojing Lu b Yao Pan Xuejiao Wang Jun-Bing Fan Yifeng Wang Ying Wang 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,7:1

13Design of readout electronics based on peak-holding circuit and multiplexer for a fast neutron spectrometer显示文摘Background Fast neutron detection is meaningful in many research fields such as space environment monitoring.A scintillating fiber array model for fast neutron detection was proposed and developed in 1980s.Aerospace applications of the model require electronics in small size.Purpose To design a dedicated electronic system to readout and process the 384-channel signals from scintillating fiber array,and to use the designed system to fabricate a neutron detector for aerospace applications.Methods With the method of nuclear recoil,fast neutron is detected by tracking recoil proton of n–p scatter in scintillating plastic fibers.Using the peak-holding circuits and multiplexers,the system size and power consumption were reduced.Results The detector fabricated with the designed system,had 34 cm×34 cm×27 cm mechanical size,20.4 kg weight,and 30.05W power consumption.Comparing to traditional waveform sampling electronics,the designed electronics was highly integrated and had a small size.The readout electronics also gave a better energy resolution of 39%in neutron detection,while the energy resolution was 43%in previous version.Conclusion In this study,a highly integrated readout electronic system was designed and verified.The detector using the system gave good performance.The designed electronics had potential development in fast neutron detection and other high energy physics detection system.Liyang Sun Kai Zhuang Xiaoming Wang Fanjian Zeng Heng An Daowu Li Yuxiong Xue Zhiming Zhang Wei Zhou Yingjie Wang Baotong Feng Peilin Wang Xiaohui Li Jiale Cai Teng Tong Fanhui Meng Junguang Zhou Huan Huang Xuanhou Hu Xiubo Qin 2018Radiation Detection Technology and Methods2018,2,1:1

17Examining Health of Wetlands with Multiple Ecosystem Services as Targets in China’s Coastal Regions显示文摘Coastal zones are key interconnectors of terrestrial and marine ecosystems.Due to the degradation and fragmentation of coastal wetlands,there is an urgent need to develop assessment methodology to compare the health of wetland ecosystems at different spatial scales.This will help efficiently develop and implement protections using easy-to-access ecosystem health data.This study aims to understand the spatial distribution of coastal and inland wetland health for China’s coastal regions.A Wetland Health Index(WHI)was developed to provide a basis for policy and decision making.Four utilization models—Long Term Model,Open Model,Nature Reserve Model,and Protected and Economic Model—were defined in the context of China’s coastal regions to specifically examine wetland health.Results show that the average WHI score was 63.6 with the range of 44.8–84.3 for 35 National Nature Reserves(NNRs),and the southern NNRs generally performed better than the northern NNRs.The wetlands in the southern provinces/municipalities are relatively healthier than their northern counterparts.The competent authority has slight influence on WHI scores but duration of conservation establishment does not show a clear correlation.With increasing economic activity,the differences in health conditions(WHI scores)of China’s coastal regions also increase.Gross Domestic Product(GDP)or economic intensification does not relate to WHI scores.Appropriate trade-offs between wetland management and economic development could contribute to improve health conditions,conservation and utilization of coastal and inland wetlands.ZHOU Yangming DOU Yuehan YU Xiubo ZHANG Li HUANG Chong WANG Yuyu LI Xiaowei LI He JIA Yifei BAKKER Martha CARSJENS Gerrit Jan ZHOU Yan DUAN Houlang 2020Chinese Geographical Science2020,30,4:1

19Orange-derived extracellular vesicles nanodrugs for efficient treatment of ovarian cancer assisted by transcytosis effect显示文摘Extracellular vesicles(EVs)have recently received much attention about the application of drug carriers due to their desirable properties such as nano-size,biocompatibility,and high stability.Herein,we demonstrate orange-derived extracellular vesicles(OEV)nanodrugs(DN@OEV)by modifying cRGD-targeted doxorubicin(DOX)nanoparticles(DN)onto the surface of OEV,enabling significantly enhancing tumor accumulation and penetration,thereby efficiently inhibiting the growth of ovarian cancer.The obtained DN@OEV enabled to inducement of greater transcytosis capability in ovarian cancer cells,which presented the average above 10-fold transcytosis effect compared with individual DN.It was found that DN@OEV could trigger receptor-mediated endocytosis to promote early endosome/recycling endosomes pathway for exocytosis and simultaneously reduce degradation in the early endosomes-late endosomes-lysosome pathway,thereby inducing the enhanced transcytosis.In particular,the zombie mouse model bearing orthotopic ovarian cancer further validated DN@OEV presented high accumulation and penetration in tumor tissue by the transcytosis process.Our study indicated the strategy in enhancing transcytosis has significant implications for improving the therapeutic efficacy of thedrugdelivery system.Feng Long Yao Pan Jinheng Li Suinan Sha Xiubo Shi Haoyan Guo Chuanqing Huang Qian Xiao Chao Fan Xingmei Zhang Jun-Bing Fan Ying Wang 2023Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2023,13,12:0
20Morphology controllable urchin-shaped bimetallic nickel-cobalt oxide/carbon composites with enhanced electromagnetic wave absorption performance显示文摘The microscopic morphology of electromagnetic wave absorbers influences the multiple reflections of electromagnetic waves and impedance matching,determining the absorption properties.Herein,the urchin-shaped bimetallic nickel-cobalt oxide/carbon(NiCo_(2)O_(4)/C)composites are prepared via a hy-drothermal route,whose absorption properties are investigated by different morphologies regulated by changing calcination temperature.A minimum reflection loss(RL_(min))of-75.26 dB is achieved at a match-ing thickness of 1.5 mm,and the effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)of 8.96 GHz is achieved at 2 mm.Multi-advantages of the synthesized NiCo_(2)O_(4)/C composites contribute to satisfactory absorption proper-ties.First,the interweaving of the needle-like structures increases the opportunities for scattering and multiple reflections of incident electromagnetic waves,and builds up a conductive network to facilitate the enhancement of conductive losses.Second,the carbon component in the NiCo_(2)O_(4)/C composites en-hances the interfacial polarization and reduces the density of the absorber.Besides,generous oxygen va-cancy defects are introduced into the NiCo_(2)O_(4)/C composites,which induces defect polarization and dipole polarization.In summary,the ternary coordination of components,defects and morphology led to out-standing electromagnetic wave absorption,which lightened the path for improving the electromagnetic wave absorption property and enriching the family of NiCo_(2)O_(4) absorbers with excellent performance.Fushan Li Qiuyu Li Hideo Kimura Xiubo Xie Xiaoyu Zhang Nannan Wu Xueqin Sun Ben Bin Xu Hassan Algadi Rami Adel Pashameah Abdullah K.Alanazi Eman Alzahrani Handong Li Wei Du Zhanhu Guo Chuanxin Hou 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,17:0
