| 1 | Evaluation of earthquake-induced structural damages by wavelet transform显示文摘The dynamic behavior of inelastic structures during an earthquake is a complicated non-stationary process that is affected by the ran- dom characteristics of seismic ground motions. The conventional Fourier analysis describes the feature of a dynamic process by decom- posing the signal into infinitely long sine and cosine series, which loses all time-located information. However, both time and frequency localizations are necessary for the analysis of an evolutionary spectrum of non-stationary processes. In this paper, an analytical approach for seismic ground motions is developed by applying the wavelet transform, which focuses on the energy input to the structure. The procedure of identification of the instantaneous modal parameters based on the continuous wavelet transform (CWT) is given in detail. And then, a novel method using the auto-regressive moving average (ARMA), called ''prediction extension', is presented to remedy the edge effect during the numerical computation of the CWT. The effectiveness of the method is verified by the use of the benchmark model developed by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Finally, a scale model with three-storey reinforced concrete frame-share wall structure is made and tested on a shaking table to investigate the relation between the dynamic properties of structures and energy accumulation and its change rates during the earthquake. | 2 | Alterations in intestinal microbiota of colorectal cancer patients receiving radical surgery combined with adjuvant CapeOx therapy显示文摘An intricate relationship exists and interactions occur between gut microbiota and colorectal cancer(CRC).Radical surgery combined with adjuvant chemotherapy(AC) serves as the mainstream therapeutic scheme for most CRC patients.The current research was conducted to assess the effect of surgery or chemotherapy on gut microbiota.Forty-three CRC patients who received radical surgery and AC were enrolled.Fecal samples were collected preoperatively,postoperatively,and after the first to fifth cycles of postoperative chemotherapy.The microbial community of each sample was analyzed using high throughput 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing.Compared with preoperative samples,fecal samples collected postoperatively exhibited a significant decrease of obligate anaerobes,tumor-related bacteria,and butyric acid-producing bacteria.However,a significant increase of some conditional pathogens was observed.In addition,the AC regimen(CapeOx) was found to alter intestinal microbiota dramatically.In particular,several changes were observed after chemotherapy including an increase of pathogenic bacteria,the 'rebound effect' of chemotherapy-adapted bacteria,the shift of lactate-utilizing microbiota from Veillonella to Butyricimonas and Butyricicoccus,as well as the decrease of probiotics.Both radical surgery and CapeOx chemotherapy exert a non-negligible effect on the gut microbiota of CRC patients.Microbiota-based intervention may be beneficial for patients during postoperative clinical management. | Cheng Kong Renyuan Gao Xuebing Yan Linsheng Huang Jide He Hao Li Jie You Huanlong Qin | 2019 | Science China(Life Sciences)2019,62,9: | 7 |
| 3 | Distribution of T-DNA carrying a Ds element on rice chromosomes显示文摘Over 3000 rice plants with T-DNA carrying a Ds element were constructed by Agro-bacterium tumefaciens mediation. Using inverse PCR methodology, 590 unique right flanking sequences of T-DNA (Ds) were retrieved from independent transformants and classified into six main types on the basis of the origin of filler DNA between the right border of T-DNA and flanking sequence of rice genome. Type I sequences were the most common and showed canonical in-tegration that T-DNA right border was followed by rice genome sequence with or without filler DNA of no more than 50 bp, while type II sequences displayed a vector-genome combination that T-DNA right border was followed by a vector fragment and then connected with rice genome sequence. The location and distribution of 340 type I and II flanking sequences on the rice chromosome were determined using BLAST analysis. The 340 Ds insertions at an average in-terval of 0.8 megabase (Mb) constructed a basic framework of Ds starter points on whole rice chromosomes. The frequency of T-DNA (Ds) inserted into the exons of predicted genes on chromosome one was 21%. | 4 | Soil selenium concentration and Kashin-Beck disease prevalence in Tibet,China显示文摘In order to investigate the correlation between the prevalence of Kashin-Back disease(KBD)and Se concentrations,natural soil samples and cultivated soil samples were collected from southeastern Tibet,China;and the soil Se concentrations were measured by atomic fluorescent spectrophotometer.It was found that the mean Se concentrations of natural soil samples in KBD areas,from the first layer to the third layer,were 0.17 mg/kg,0.11 mg/kg,and 0.10 mg/kg,respectively,and in nondisease areas were 0.21 mg/kg,0.24 mg/kg,and 0.13mg/kg,respectively.The mean Se concentrations of cultivated soil samples were 0.10 mg/kg in KBD areas and 0.23 mg/kg in non-disease areas,respectively.Soil Se concentrations in KBD areas were lower than that in non-disease areas,and the mean concentrations of soil Se in Tibet were lower than the average of China(0.29 mg/kg).Therefore,there is a close relationship between soil Se concentrations and KBD in Tibet.More studies should be concentrated on the impacts of Se deficiency in soils and its relationship with Se concentrations in food-grain and the human body in Tibet areas. | Shunjiang LI Wei LI Xia HU Linsheng YANG Ruodeng XIRAO | 2009 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2009,3,1: | 4 |

| 9 | Optimization of Hydrolysis Conditions for the Isolation of Angiotensin-I Converting Enzyme(ACE) Inhibitory Peptides from Rhopilema hispidum显示文摘To obtain the maximum angiotensin-I converting enzyme(ACE) inhibitory activity, the protein hydrolysis conditions of the jellyfish Rhopilema hispidum were optimized using response surface methodology(RSM). Trypsin was selected to produce R. hispidum protein hydrolysates(RPH) with ACE inhibitory activity. The optimal parameters for producing protein hydrolysates with the highest ACE inhibitory activity were as follows: hydrolysis time 5 h, hydrolysis temperature 50℃, and the enzyme-to-substrate ratio 6%. Under these conditions, the ACE inhibitory rate of RPH could reach 64.28% ± 5.72%. In addition, RPH contained high levels of Gly, Glu, Pro, Ala, Asp and Arg, with a molecular weight distribution range of 0.32–6.84 kDa. The following three novel ACE inhibitory peptides were isolated and identified: Ile-Gly-Glu-Thr-Gly-Pro, Gly-Ala-Thr-Gly-Pro-Ala-Gly-Tyr-Val and Gly-AlaPhe-Gly-Pro-Gly-Gly-Leu-Val-Gly-Arg-Pro. The IC_(50) values of the ACE inhibitory activity of these three purified peptides were 19.07, 27.42 and 31.26 μmol L^(-1), respectively. | 15 | Detection of Frameshift Mutations of the Transforming Growth Factor p ReceptorⅡin Gastric Cancers with Microsatellite Instability显示文摘OBJECTIVE To study the relationship among microsatellite instability (MSI), frameshift mutations (FM) of the transforming growth factor p receptorⅡ(TGFpRⅡ), methylation state of the hMLH1 promoter and hMLH1 protein expression level in gastric cancers, and to explore their relationship to gastric carcinogenesis. METHODS DMA was isolated from 101 gastric specimens and 5 microsatellite loci were detected. PCR, electrophoresis on denatured polyacrylamide gels and silver staining were performed to detect the MSI. The FMs of TGFβRⅡwere also screened with the same method. HMLH1 methylation was analyzed by methylation specific PCR (MSP) and sequencing. HMLH1 protein expression was detected using immunohistochemistry. RESULTS The incidence of MSIs was 53.7% and 0% in the cancers and normal tissues, respectively, with the frequency of MSIs being significantly higher in the gastric cancers compared to the normal gastric tissues (P<0.05). The frequency of hMLH1 methylation was 41.5%(17/41) in the gastric cancers and 0%(0/60) in the normal group. Decreased hMLH1 expression was observed in 94.1%(16/17) of cases exhibiting methylation. FMs of TGFβRⅡwere identified in 5 (62.5%) of the 8 samples with MSIH. In contrast, FMs were not found in MSI -L or microsatellite stable (MSS) cases. CONCLUSION MSIs and FMs of TGFβRⅡmay play an important role in gastric carcinogenesis.
