| 2 | Effect of hydrophilic silica nanoparticles on hydrate formation: Insight from the experimental study显示文摘Invasion of drilling fluid into natural gas hydrate deposits during drilling might damage the reservoir,induce hydrate dissociation and then cause wellbore instability and distortion of the data from well logging. Adding nanoparticles into drilling fluid is an effective method in reducing the invasion of drilling fluid and enhancing borehole stability. However, the addition of nanoparticles might also introduce hydrate formation risk in borehole because they can act as the 'seeds' for hydrate nucleation. This paper presents an experimental study of the effect of hydrophilic silica nanoparticle on gas hydrate formation in a dynamic methane/liquid-water system. In the experiment, the ultrapure water with and without1.0 wt%–6.0 wt% concentrations of silica nanoparticles, grain sizes of 20 and 50 nm, were pressurized by methane gas under varied conditions of temperature and pressure. The induction time, the gas consumption, and the average rate of gas consumption in the system were measured and compared to those in ultrapure water. The results show that a concentration of 4.0 wt% hydrophilic SiO_2 particles with a grain size of 50 nm has a relatively strong inhibition effect on hydrate formation when the initial experimental condition is 5.0 °C and 5.0 MPa. Compared to ultrapure water, the hydrophilic nano-SiO_2 fluid increases the induction time for hydrate formation by 194% and decreases the amount and average rate of hydrate formation by 10% and 17%, respectively. This inhibition effect may be attributed to the hydrophilicity,amount and aggregation of silica nanoparticle according to the results of water activity and zeta potential measurements. | 5 | Stable isotopes of modern herbivore tooth enamel in the Tibetan Plateau: Implications for paleoelevation reconstructions显示文摘Fossil tooth enamel from herbivores is considered one of the best proxies for paleoclimate and paleoelevation reconstructions, due to its low susceptibility to diagenetic alteration. A synthesis of oxygen and carbon isotope analyses of modern tooth enamel from herbivores such as Tibetan yaks, asses and antelopes is assessed. The average δ 13C(PDB) value of herbivore tooth enamel in the Lhasa and south Qiangtang terrains is-11.3‰± 1.1‰, whereas in the north Qiangtang and Hoh Xil terrains value is-10.2‰± 1.4‰ consistent with the current C3-dominant ecotype in the Tibetan Plateau. In addition, the average δ18O(PDB) values from tooth enamel show a northward systematic increase from-11.8‰± 3.4‰ in the Gyirong Basin, to-11.1‰± 1.1‰ in the Lhasa and southern Qiangtang terrains, and then to-9.0‰± 1.1‰ in the northern Qiangtang and the Hoh Xil areas, similar to those of the local river water and precipitation variation trends. It is suggested that δ 18O(PDB) values of tooth enamel should not be used directly to evaluate the paleo-elevation of the Tibetan Plateau, because oxygen isotopic composition from tooth enamel is a com-bination of drinking water (precipitation-and river-sourced) and diet (plant-sourced). | 6 | Interference Robust Channel Hopping Strategies for Wireless Sensor Networks显示文摘Due to the shared nature of the wireless medium, the performance of wireless sensor network is often limited by both internal interference and external interference. The internal interference is that simultaneous traffic activity by neighboring nodes in the same network, while the external interference is from wireless transmissions by other types of devices, such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth nodes. In this paper, we present two channel hopping algorithms for multichannel, single-radio wireless sensor networks. The first algorithm achieves collision-free transmission environment while do not introduce extra control overhead. The second algorithm, in addition to reducing internal interference effects, reduces the external interference effects from Wi-Fi devices. | 16 | Effect on the Performance of Drilling Fluids at Downhole Rock Surfaces at Low Temperatures显示文摘To maintain gas hydrate stability, low-temperature drilling fluids and high drilling speeds should be used while drilling in gas hydrate-bearing sediments. The effect of the drilling fluid on downhole rock surfaces at low temperatures is very important to increase the drilling rate. This paper analyzed the action mechanism of the drilling fluid on downhole rock surfaces and established a corresponding evaluation method. The softening effect of six simulated drilling fluids with 0.1 wt.% of four common surfactants and two common organic salts on the downhole rock surface strength was evaluated experimentally using the established method at low temperature. The experimental results showed that the surfactants and organic salts used in the drilling fluids aided in the reduction of the strength of the downhole rock surface, and the established evaluation method was able to quantitatively reveal the difference in the softening effect of the different drilling fluids through comparison with water. | 18 | Research on Fe-based impregnated diamond drill bits strengthened by Nano-NbC and Nano-WC显示文摘In order to improve the matrix performance of impregnated diamond drill bit to better meet the drilling needs,the effects of the addition of nano-WC and nano-NbC particles on the matrix material together with the mechanical properties and microstructure of the diamond-matrix composite material of the Fe-based diamond drill bit were studied by using the method of uniform formula design,regression analysis and solution finding.An indoor drilling test was also carried out using the fabricated impregnated diamond drill bit.The results showed that after the addition of nano-NbC and nano-WC,the hardness and flexural strength of the matrix material got improved,as the flexural strength of the diamond composite material increased to 4.29%,the wear-resistance ratio increased to 8.75%,and the tighter the chemical bonding between the diamond and the matrix.This,indicates that the addition of nanoparticles has a positive significance in improving the performance of the diamond composite.The results of the drilling test showed that the mechanical drilling speed of the impregnated diamond drill bit after nanoparticle strengthening is 25.85%higher than that of the conventional drill bit,and the matrix wear was increased by 17.5%.It proves that nanoparticles can improve the drilling performance and efficiency of drill bit. | Ekene Matthew Egwuonwu Uzodigwe Emmanuel Nnanwuba CHANG Si DUAN Longchen NING Fulong LIU Baochang | 2023 | Global Geology2023,26,1: | 1 |

| 20 | Multi-frequency satellite radar imaging of cultural heritage:the case studies of the Yumen Frontier Pass and Niya ruins in the Western Regions of the Silk Road Corridor显示文摘Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR)remote sensing is increasingly favoured in archaeological applications.However,the effectiveness of this technology for archaeological prospection has so far not been fully assessed.In this study,an integrated single-date and multi-temporal SAR data-processing chain was proposed to sharpen archaeological signs and hence their detection and monitoring.In total,14 scenes of X-band Cosmo-SkyMed,C-band Sentinel-1 and L-band PALSAR data covering the Western Regions of the Silk Road Corridor in China were employed for two important archaeological sites including the Yumen Frontier Pass with emerging archaeological traces and Niya ruins with subsurface remains.The results pointed out that single-date satellite radar data were useful for the identification of subsurface traces buried under desert in the landscape-scale,whereas for the identification of emerging monuments,Sentinel-1 was limited by its lower spatial resolution compared to TerraSAR and PALSAR data.Multi-date products,such as interferometric coherence,the averaged radar signatures and RGB multi-temporal composites,were effective to sharpen archaeological traces as well as for change detection in Yumen Frontier Pass.This study presents a pilot assessment of satellite SAR data for the analysis and monitoring of archaeological features in the predominantly arid-sandy environmental characteristic of investigated sites. | Fulong Chen Nicola Masini Jie Liu Jiangbin You Rosa Lasaponara | 2016 | International Journal of Digital Earth2016,9,12: | 0 |
