1Geomagnetic anomalies recorded in L9 of the Songjiadian loess section in southeastern Chinese Loess Plateau显示文摘Detailed magnetostratigraphic and rock magnetic investigations on L8-S12 of the Songjiadian loess section in the Sanmenxia area, southernmost margin of the Chinese Loess Plateau were conducted in this study.Matuyama/Brunhes (M/B) boundary occurred at the bottom of the loess unit L8.The top and bottom boundaries of the Jaramillo polarity subchron are found in the middle of L10 and the bottom of L12,respectively.Magnetic fabric of the loess layers maintains the original depositional features and the recorded remanent magnetization analysis indicates little post-deposition disturbance experienced. In late Matuyama chron, two anomalies of geomagnetic field have been detected in L9.Our data demonstrated that these recorded anomalies were less likely a result of remagnetization, but more possibly the signature of geomagnetic excursions occurred, named SJD1 and SJD2.It is calculated that the midpoint ages of SJD1 and SJD2 are 0.917 Ma and 0.875 Ma,respectively, and the time-interval between the two events approximates 12 ka.Chronologically,SJD1 is close to the Santa Rosa (0.922 Ma) and SJD2 corresponds to the Kamikatsura (0.886 Ma) excursions. In consistence with previous studies, the geomagnetic field was weakened during these events.WANG DaoJing WANG YongCheng HAN JingTai DUAN MuGang SHAN JiaZeng LIU TungSheng 2010Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,6:2

5Autonomic reinnervation and functional regeneration in autologous transplanted submandibular glands in patients with severe keratoconjunctivitis sicca显示文摘Autologous submandibular gland(SMG) transplantation has been proved to ameliorate the discomforts in patients with severe keratoconjunctivitis sicca. The transplanted glands underwent a hypofunctional period and then restored secretion spontaneously. This study aims to investigate whether autonomic nerves reinnervate the grafts and contribute to the functional recovery, and further determine the origin of these nerves. Parts of the transplanted SMGs were collected from the epiphora patients, and a rabbit SMG transplantation model was established to fulfill the serial observation on the transplanted glands with time. The results showed that autonomic nerves distributed in the transplanted SMGs and parasympathetic ganglionic cells were observed in the stroma of the glands. Low-dense and unevenly distributed cholinergic axons, severe acinar atrophy and fibrosis were visible in the patients' glands 4–6 months post-transplantation, whereas the cholinergic axon density and acinar area were increased with time. The acinar area or the secretory flow rate of the transplanted glands was statistically correlated with the cholinergic axon density in the rabbit model, respectively. Meanwhile, large cholinergic nerve trunks were found to locate in the temporal fascia lower to the gland, and sympathetic plexus concomitant with the arteries was observed both in the adjacent fascia and in the stroma of the glands. In summary, the transplanted SMGs are reinnervated by autonomic nerves and the cholinergic nerves play a role in the morphological and functional restoration of the glands. Moreover, these autonomic nerves might originate from the auriculotemporal nerve and the sympathetic plexus around the supplying arteries.Xueming Zhang Ningyan Yang Xiaojing Liu Jiazeng Su Xin Cong Liling Wu Yan Zhang Guangyan Yu 2018International Journal of Oral Science2018,10,2:1
6Evaluating the impact of sulfamethoxazole on hydrogen production during dark anaerobic sludge fermentation显示文摘The impact of antibiotics on the environmental protection and sludge treatment fields has been widely studied. The recovery of hydrogen from waste activated sludge(WAS)has become an issue of great interest.Nevertheless, few studies have focused on the impact of antibiotics present in WAS on hydrogen production during dark anaerobic fermentation. To explore the mechanisms, sulfamethoxazole(SMX)was chosen as a representative antibiotic to evaluate how SMX influenced hydrogen production during dark anaerobic fermentation of WAS.The results demonstrated SMX promoted hydrogen production. With increasing additions of SMX from 0 to 500 mg/kg TSS,the cumulative hydrogen production elevated from 8.07±0.37 to 11.89±0.19 mL/g VSS.A modified Gompertz model further verified that both the maximum potential of hydrogen production(Pm)and the maximum rate of hydrogen production(R_(m))were promoted.SMX did not affected sludge solubilization, but promoted hydrolysis and acidification processes to produce more hydrogen. Moreover, the methanogenesis process was inhibited so that hydrogen consumption was reduced.Microbial community analysis further demonstrated that the introduction of SMX improved the abundance of hydrolysis bacteria and hydrogen-volatile fatty acids(VFAs)producers.SMX synergistically influenced hydrolysis, acidification and acetogenesis to facilitate the hydrogen production.Tingting Zhu Zhongxian Su Wenxia Lai Jiazeng Ding Yufen Wang Yingxin Zhao Yiwen Liu 2023Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2023,17,1:0
