2Soil Erosion Changes over the Past Five Decades in the Red Soil Region of Southern China显示文摘This paper reports the dynamic changes of soil and water loss in the red soil region of Southern China since the 1950s. The red soil region covers eight provinces: Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian, Anhui, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong and Hainan. From the 1950s to 1986, the annual rate of soil erosion increased by 3.4%. From 1986 to 1996 and from 1996 to 2000, the annual rates of soil erosion decreased by 2.0% and 0.32%, respectively. Field surveys showed that from 2000 to 2005, the area of soil and water loss decreased annually by 1.2%. This decrease was a result of large-scale erosion control activities across China. Although the eroded soil has been restored, the restoration process is very slow and full restoration will take a long time. 5Recent advances in mammalian reproductive biology显示文摘Reproductive biology is a uniquely important topic since it is about germ cells, which are central for transmitting genetic information from generation to generation. In this review, we discuss recent advances in mammalian germ cell development,including preimplantation development, fetal germ cell development and postnatal development of oocytes and sperm. 6The impacts of ‘05.6’ extreme flood event on riverine carbon fluxes in Xijiang River显示文摘An extreme flood event with a frequency of nearly 200 year occurred in June of 2005 in the Xijiang River, the main trunk stream of the Zhujiang River. Samples were systematically collected during the flood event, and water quality parameters, including total suspended sediment (TSS), dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC), dissolved organic carbon (DOC), and particulate organic carbon (POC) were analyzed, and riverine carbon concentrations associated with its changing pattern through the flood process were discussed. These parameters reflect the changes in basin surface flow and subsurface flow dur-ing the flood. This flood event influenced annual flux estimations of POC, DOC, and DIC to great extents. Based on carbon flux estimations for the year 2005 and the flood event (June 21-28) in the Xijiang River, it was found that DIC, DOC, and POC fluxes during ‘05.6’ flood event are 1.52×106 g.km?2.a?1, 0.24×106 g.km?2.a?1, and 0.54×106 g.km?2.a?1, and account for 14.87%, 24.75% and 44.89% of the annual fluxes in 2005, respectively. 7ANALYSIS OF SOIL EROSION CHARACTERISTICS AND SEDIMENT SOURCES FOR THE YANTZE THREE GORGES REGION显示文摘In this paper the researches made in 1981-1990 have identified that the annual soil loss in the Three Gorges region is 157 million t. and the annual incoming sediment load of the Three Gorges reservoir is 40 million t. Soil erosion increases with the destruction of vegetative cover and its subsequent evolution. The annual amounts of sediment erosion for forest land, shrub land, grassland and farmland make up respectively 6.19%, 10.76%, 23.05% and 60% of the total erosion of the Three Gorges region; the quantities of incoming sediment load to the Yangtze River from the above four types of land account for 5.95%, 12.42%, 35.46% and 46.1 % of the total amount of sediment transported to the reservoir. The farmland of offers the main source of sediment. Gravitational erosion produces more bed loads, which will present serious threat to the Three Gorges Project if entering the reservoir. Resettlement of people to the upper parts of the mountainous areas for agricultural production will increase the sediment yield of the Three Gorges region by 10-20 million t and increase the incoming sediment of the Yangtze River by 50-60 million t. 9Carbon sequestration in biomass and soil following reforestation:a case study of the Yangtze River Basin显示文摘The effect of reforestation on carbon sequestration has been extensively studied but there is less understanding of the changes that stand age and vegetation types have on changes in biomass carbon and soil organic carbon(SOC)after reforestation.In this study,150 reforested plots were sampled across six provinces and one municipality in the Yangtze River Basin(YRB)during 2017 and 2018 to estimate carbon storage in biomass and soil.The results illustrate that site-averaged SOC was greater than site-averaged biomass carbon.There was more carbon sequestered in the biomass than in the soil.Biomass carbon accumulated rapidly in the initial 20 years after planting.In contrast,SOC sequestration increased rapidly after 20 years.In addition,evergreen species had higher carbon density in both biomass and soil than deciduous species and economic species(fruit trees).Carbon sequestration in evergreen and deciduous species is greater than in economic species.Our findings provide new evidence on the divergent responses of biomass and soil to carbon sequestration after reforestation with respect to stand ages and vegetation types.This study provides relevant information for ecosystem management as well as for carbon sequestration and global climate change policies.Jianyu Wang Claudio O.Delang Guolong Hou Lei Gao Xiankun Yang Xixi Lu 2022Journal of Forestry Research2022,33,5:1

12A pH-responsive mesoporous silica nanoparticles-based drug delivery system with controlled release of andrographolide for OA treatment显示文摘Andrographolide(AG)has favorable anti-inflammatory and antioxidative capacity.However,it has low bioavailability due to high lipophilicity and can be easily cleared by the synovial fluid after intra-articular injection,leading to low therapeutic efficiency in osteoarthritis(OA).Herein,we designed a nano-sized pH-responsive drug delivery system(DDS)for OA treatment by using modified mesoporous silica nanoparticles(MSNs)with pH-responsive polyacrylic acid(PAA)for loading of AG to form AG@MSNs-PAA nanoplatform.The nanoparticles have uniform size(120 nm),high drug loading efficiency(22.3860.71%)and pH-responsive properties,beneficial to sustained release in OA environment.Compared with AG,AG@MSNs-PAA showed enhanced antiarthritic efficacy and chondro-protective capacity based on IL-1b-stimulated chondrocytes and anterior cruciate ligament transection-induced rat OA model,as demonstrated by lower expression of inflammatory factors and better prevention of proteoglycan loss.Therefore,the AG@MSNs-PAA nanoplatform may be developed as a promising OA-specific and on-demand DDS.Mingwei He Zainen Qin Xiaonan Liang Xixi He Bikang Zhu Zhenhui Lu Qingjun Wei Li Zheng 2021Regenerative Biomaterials2021,8,4:1

15Dissecting Human Gonadal Cell Lineage Specification and Sex Determination Using A Single-cell RNA-seq Approach显示文摘Gonadal somatic cells are the main players in gonad development and are important for sex determination and germ cell development.Here,using a time-series single-cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq)strategy,we analyzed fetal germ cells(FGCs)and gonadal somatic cells in human embryos and fetuses.Clustering analysis of testes and ovaries revealed several novel cell subsets,including POU5F1^(+)SPARC^(+)FGCs and KRT19^(+) somatic cells.Furthermore,our data indicated that the bone morphogenetic protein(BMP)signaling pathway plays cell type-specific and developmental stage-specific roles in testis development and promotes the gonocyte-to-spermatogonium transition(GST)in late-stage testicular mitotic arrest FGCs.Intriguingly,testosterone synthesis function transitioned from fetal Sertoli cells to adult Leydig cells in a stepwise manner.In our study,potential interactions between gonadal somatic cells were systematically explored and we identified cell type-specific developmental defects in both FGCs and gonadal somatic cells in a Turner syndrome embryo(45,XO).Our work provides a blueprint of the complex yet highly ordered development of and the interactions among human FGCs and gonadal somatic cells.Rui Wang Xixi Liu Li Li Ming Yang Jun Yong Fan Zhai Lu Wen Liying Yan Jie Qiao Fuchou Tang 2022Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2022,20,2:1

19Inheritance Analysis of Bolting Associated Traits Using Mixed Major Gene Plus Polygene Model in Brassica rapa显示文摘[Objective] This study aimed to analyze the inheritance of bolting associated traits in Brassica rapa,which will provide useful information in a breeding program for late-bolting or bolting-resistant cultivars of Chinese cabbage.[Method] Three phenotypic measurements,bolting index,flowering time,days to 5 cm elongated stalk,respectively were used for inheritance analysis of six generations,P1(bolting resistant inbreed line),P2(vernalization independent type) and their filial generations F1,B1,B2and F2,using the mixed major-gene plus polygene inheritance model.[Result] The two traits,bolting index and days to 5 cm elongated stalk,both were controlled by two major genes with additive-dominant-epistatic effects( B-1 model) in hybrid. The flowering time was controlled by one major gene with additive-dominant effects plus additive-dominant-epistatic effects( D model). The heritability of the major genes in B1,B2and F2were 96. 22%,93. 33%,93. 55% for bolting index,70. 68%,70. 68%,70. 64% for flowering time,79. 44%,79. 55%,79. 38% for days to 5-cm elongated stalk,respectively,but no polygene heritability was detected in B1,B2and F2generation. It indicated that the bolting trait in Brassica rapa was controlled by one or tow major genes.[Conclusion] This implied that in the genetic improvement for bolting resistant trait major gene was a main factor.
