3Effect of uneven noise source and/or station distribution on estimating the azimuth anisotropy of surface waves显示文摘With the development of the dense array,the surface wave velocity and azimuthal anisotropy under the array can be directly obtained by beamforming the noise cross-correlation functions(NCFs). However, the retrieval of the Green's function by cross-correlating the seismic noise requires that the noise source has a uniform distribution. For the case with uneven noise source, the azimuthal dependence on the sources in the expression for the spatial coherence function, which corresponds to the NCF in the time domain,has the same form as the azimuthal dependence of the surface wave velocity in weakly anisotropic media. Therefore, the uneven noise source will affect the surface wave anisotropy extraction. In this study, three passive seismic methods, i.e.,beamforming, SPAC(spatial autocorrelation), and NCF, are compared to demonstrate that an uneven source distribution and uneven station distribution have equivalent effects on the outcome from each method. A beamforming method is proposed to directly extract the velocity and azimuthal anisotropy of surface waves. The effect of uneven noise source and/or station distribution on estimating the azimuth anisotropy of surface waves was investigated using data from the ChinArray Phase Ⅱ. 10Receiver function structures beneath the Haiyuan fault on the northeastern margin of the Tibetan plateau显示文摘We performed a receiver function analysis on teleseismic data recorded along two dense seismic profiles and from 4 broadband regional seismic stations across the northeastern Tibetan plateau.The crustal thickness and vP/vS ratio were measured by the H-κdomain search algorithm.The Moho discontinuity across the Haiyuan arc fault zone was also revealed by common conversion point(CCP)imaging.Our study results show that the crustal thickness and the vP/vS ratio were 42–56 km and 1.60–1.88,respectively.The crustal thickening on the northeastern margin indicates that the crust is shortening or that there was a superimposition of crusts during the collision of the Tibetan plateau with Eurasian block.Our results suggest that Haiyuan fault likely resulted from the interactions of high temperature and pressure conditions during the collision of the Indian and Asian continents.The Moho beneath the Haiyuan tectonic region exhibits an obvious offset and a vague discontinuity according to CCP imaging.This study suggests that the Haiyuan arc fault zone is a trans-crustal fault that cuts through the Moho in the northeastern Tibetan Plateau.Moreover,there are indications of strong deformation in the intensive crustal extrusion from the interior of the Tibetan Plateau to its northeastern margin.Yutao Shi Yuan Gao Laiyu Lu 2021Earthquake Science2021,34,4:1

12Extremely Stable Sulfuric Acid Covalent Organic Framework for Highly Effective Ammonia Capture显示文摘Ammonia(NH_(3))is one of the most important industrial feedstocks in the fields of fertilizers,drugs,explosives,ordnance,commercial cleanings,and so on.However,the features of ammonia such as high toxicity and corrosivity,and difficulty in handling would inevitably increase the risk of environmental damage and the deterioration of natural/public lands.Although sorts of solid adsorbents such as metal oxides,zeolites,organic polymers,activated carbons,and metal organic frameworks have been applied in NH_(3) capture,they still show low uptake capacity,low affinities,and instability.Herein,we developed the first case of a highly stable sulfuric acid covalent organic framework(COF),namely TpBD-(SO_(3)H)_(2),as NH_(3) capturer,in which sulfonic acid sites can strongly interact with NH_(3) molecules,and enhance the performance of NH_(3) sorption.As a result,TpBD-(SO_(3)H)_(2) shows high chemical stability under strong acid and water conditions,an important merit for the potential application in harsh environment.And it also exhibits high ammonia capacity of 11.5 mmol·g^(−1) at 298 K and 1.0 bar,making it one of the best in all chemically stable NH_(3) adsorbents up to date.This work thus develops sulfuric acid COF materials as a new platform for ammonia capture and storage.Jinli Li Yun Xiao Feng Shui Mao Yi Zhiyuan Zhang Xiongli Liu Laiyu Zhang Zifeng You Rufeng Yang Shiqi Yang Baiyan Li Xian-He Bu 2022Chinese Journal of Chemistry2022,40,20:1

15On the eigenvalues and eigendisplacement of the critical mode in horizontally layered media显示文摘Wave propagation in horizontally layered media is a classical problem in seismic-wave theory.In semi-infinite space,a nondispersive Rayleigh wave mode exists,and the eigendisplacement decays exponentially with depth.In a layered model with increasing layer velocity,the phase velocity of the Rayleigh wave varies between the S-wave velocity of the bottom half-space and that of the classical Rayleigh wave propagated in a supposed half-space formed by the parameters of the top layer.If the phase velocity is the same as the P-or S-wave velocity of the layer,which is called the critical mode or critical phase velocity of surface waves,the general solution of the wave equation is not a homogeneous(expressed by trigonometric functions)or inhomogeneous(expressed by exponential functions)plane wave,but one whose amplitude changes linearly with depth(expressed by a linear function).Theories based on a general solution containing only trigonometric or exponential functions do not apply to the critical mode,owing to the singularity at the critical phase velocity.In this study,based on the classical framework of generalized reflection and transmission coefficients,the propagation of surface waves in horizontally layered media was studied by introducing a solution for the linear function at the critical phase velocity.Therefore,the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the critical mode can be calculated by solving a singular problem.The eigendisplacement characteristics associated with the critical phase velocity were investigated for different layered models.In contrast to the normal mode,the eigendisplacement associated with the critical phase velocity exhibits different characteristics.If the phase velocity is equal to the S-wave velocity in the bottom half-space,the eigendisplacement remains constant with increasing depth.Shaotong Wang Laiyu Lu 2024Earthquake Science2024,37,1:0
16Joint inversion of Rayleigh group and phase velocities for S-wave velocity structure of the 2021 M_(S)6.0 Luxian earthquake source area,China显示文摘On September 16,2021,a MS6.0 earthquake struck Luxian County,one of the shale gas blocks in the Southeastern Sichuan Basin,China.To understand the seismogenic environment and its mechanism,we inverted a fine three-dimensional S-wave velocity model from ambient noise tomography using data from a newly deployed dense seismic array around the epicenter,by extracting and jointly inverting the Rayleigh phase and group velocities in the period of 1.6–7.2 s.The results showed that the velocity model varied significantly beneath different geological units.The Yujiasi syncline is characterized by low velocity at depths of~3.0–4.0 km,corresponding to the stable sedimentary layer in the Sichuan Basin.The eastern and western branches of the Huayingshan fault belt generally exhibit high velocities in the NE-SW direction,with a few local low-velocity zones.The Luxian MS6.0 earthquake epicenter is located at the boundary between the high-and low-velocity zones,and the earthquake sequences expand eastward from the epicenter at depths of 3.0–5.0 km.Integrated with the velocity variations around the epicenter,distribution of aftershock sequences,and focal mechanism solution,it is speculated that the seismogenic mechanism of the main shock might be interpreted as the reactivation of pre-existing faults by hydraulic fracturing.Wei Xu Pingping Wu Dahu Li Huili Guo Qiyan Yang Laiyu Lu Zhifeng Ding 2023Earthquake Science2023,36,5:0
