Chemical vapor deposition of monolayer WS2 nano- sheets on Au foils toward direct application in hydrogen evolution显示文摘Monolayer tungsten disulfide (WS2), a typical member of the semiconducting transition metal dichalcogenide family has drawn considerable interest because of its unique properties. Intriguingly the edge of WS2 exhibits an ideal hydrogen binding energy which makes WS2 a potential alternative to Pt-based electrocatalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Here, we demonstrate for the first time the successful synthesis of uniform monolayer WS2 nanosheets on centimeter- scale Au foils using a facile, low-pressure chemical vapor deposition method. The edge lengths of the universally observed triangular WS2 nanosheets are tunable from -100 to N1,000 nm. The WS2 nanosheets on Au foils featuring abundant edges were then discovered to be efficient catalysts for the HER, exhibiting a rather high exchange current density of -30.20 μA/cm2 and a small onset potential of Nl10 mV. The effects of coverage and domain size (which correlate closely with the active edge density of WS2) on the electrocatalytic activity were investigated. This work not only provides a novel route toward the batch-production of monolayer WS2 via the introduction of metal foil substrates but also opens up its direct application for facile HER. | Yanshuo Zhang Jianping Shi Gaofeng Han Minjie Li Qingqing Ji Donglin Ma Yu Zhang Cong Li Xingyou Lang Yanfeng Zhang Zhongfan Liu | 2015 | Nano Research2015,8,9: | 7
Urban-rural disparities in mild cognitive impairment and its functional subtypes among community- dwelling older residents in central China显示文摘background Substantial variations in the prevalence of mild cognitive impairment(MCI)and its subtypes have been reported, although mostly in geographically defined developed countries and regions.Less is known about MCI and its subtypes in rural areas of less developed central China.Aims The study aimed to compare the prevalence of MCI and its subtypes in residents aged 65 years or older in urban and rural areas of Hubei Province,China. Methods Participants aged 65 years or older were recruited between 2018 and 2019.Inperson structured interviews and clinical and neuropsychological assessments were performed at city health community centres and township hospitals.results Among 2644 participants without dementia,735 had MCI,resulting in a prevalence of 27.8%for total MCI,20.9%for amnestic MCI(aMCI)and 6.9%for non-amnestic MCI(naMCI).The prevalence of MCI in urban and rural areas was 20.2%and 44.1%,respectively.After adjusting for demographic factors, the prevalence of total MCI,aMCI and naMCI differed significantly between rural and urban areas(adjusted odds ratio(OR)2.10,1.44 and 3.76,respectively).Subgroup analysis revealed an association between rural socioeconomic and lifestyle disadvantage and MCI and its subtypes. Conclusions Our findings suggest that the prevalence of MCI among urban residents in central China is consistent with that in other metropolis areas, such as Shanghai, but the prevalence in rural areas is twice that in urban areas.Prospective studies and dementia prevention in China should focus on rural areas. | Dan Liu Lin Li Lina An Guirong Cheng Cong Chen Mingjun Zou Bo Zhang Xuguang Gan Lang Xu Yangming Ou Qingming Wu Ru Wang Yan Zeng | 2021 | General Psychiatry2021,34,5: | 3
Large-scale multiferroic complex oxide epitaxy with magnetically switched polarization enabled by solution processing显示文摘Complex oxides with tunable structures have many fascinating properties, though high-quality complex oxide epitaxy with precisely controlled composition is still out of reach. Here we have successfully developed solution-based single-crystalline epitaxy for multiferroic(1-x)BiTi(1-y)/2FeyMg(1-y)/2O3–(x)CaTiO3(BTFM–CTO)solid solution in large area, confirming its ferroelectricity at the atomic scale with strong spontaneous polarization.Careful compositional tuning leads to a bulk magnetization of 0.07±0.035μB/Fe at room temperature, enabling magnetically induced polarization switching exhibiting a large magnetoelectric coefficient of 2.7–3.0×10^-7 s/m.This work demonstrates the great potential of solution processing in large-scale complex oxide epitaxy and establishes novel room-temperature magnetoelectric coupling in epitaxial BTFM–CTO film, making it possible to explore a much wider space of composition, phase, and structure that can be easily scaled up for industrial applications. | Cong Liu Feng An Paria S.M.Gharavi Qinwen Lu Junkun Zha Chao Chen Liming Wang Xiaozhi Zhan Zedong Xu Yuan Zhang Ke Qu Junxiang Yao Yun Ou Zhiming Zhao Xiangli Zhong Dongwen Zhang Nagarajan Valanoor Lang Chen Tao Zhu Deyang Chen Xiaofang Zhai Peng Gao Tingting Jia Shuhong Xie Gaokuo Zhong Jiangyu Li | 2020 | National Science Review2020,7,1: | 2
Genome assembly of the maize inbred line A188 provides a new reference genome for functional genomics显示文摘The current assembled maize genomes cannot represent the broad genetic diversity of maize germplasms.Acquiring more genome sequences is critical for constructing a pan-genome and elucidating the linkage between genotype and phenotype in maize. Here we describe the genome sequence and annotation of A188,a maize inbred line with high phenotypic variation relative to other lines, acquired by single-molecule sequencing and optical genome mapping. We assembled a 2210-Mb genome with a scaffold N50 size of 11.61 million bases(Mb),compared to 9.73 Mb for B73 and 10.2 Mb for Mo17.Based on the B73_Ref Gen_V4 genome,295 scaffolds(2084.35 Mb,94.30%of the final genome assembly)were anchored and oriented on ten chromosomes.Comparative analysis revealed that~30%of the predicted A188 genes showed large structural divergence from B73,Mo17,and W22 genomes, which causes high protein divergence and may lead to phenotypic variation among the four inbred lines. As a line with high embryonic callus(EC)induction capacity,A188 provides a convenient tool for elucidating the molecular mechanism underlying the formation of EC in maize.Combining our new A188 genome with previously reported QTL and RNA sequencing data revealed eight genes with large structural variation and two differentially expressed genes playing potential roles in maize EC induction. | Fei Ge Jingtao Qu Peng Liu Lang Pan Chaoying Zou Guangsheng Yuan Cong Yang Guangtang Pan Jianwei Huang Langlang Ma Yaou Shen | 2022 | The Crop Journal2022,10,1: | 2

Ultralong nitrogen/sulfur Co-doped carbon nano-hollowsphere chains with encapsulated cobalt nanoparticles for highly efficient oxygen electrocatalysis显示文摘The development of simple and effective strategies to prepare electrocatalysts, which possess unique and stable structures comprised of metal/nonmetallic atoms for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER),is currently an urgent issue.Herein,an efficient bifunctional electrocatalyst featured by ultralong N,S-doped carbon nano-hollow-sphere chains about 1300 nm with encapsulated Co nanoparticles(Co-CNHSCs)is developed. The multifunctional catalytic properties of Co together with the heteroatom-induced charge redistribution(i.e.,modulating the electronic structure of the active site)result in superior catalytic activities toward OER and ORR in alkaline media. The optimized catalyst Co-CNHSC-3 displays an outstanding electrocatalytic ability for ORR and OER,a high specific capacity of 1023.6 mAh gZn^(-1),and excellent reversibility after 80 h at 10mA cm^(-2)in a Zn-air battery system. This work presents a new strategy for the design and synthesis of efficient multifunctional carbon-based catalysts for energy storage and conversion devices. | Wei Zhang Xingmei Guo Cong Li Jiang-Yan Xue Wan-Ying Xu Zheng Niu Hongwei Gu Carl Redshaw Jian-Ping Lang | 2023 | Carbon Energy2023,5,8: | 1

A hybrid catalyst for efficient electrochemical N_(2)fixation formed by decorating amorphous MoS_(3)nanosheets with MIL-101(Fe)nanodots显示文摘Metal-organic frameworks possessing relatively large pores, high surface areas, and unsaturated metal sites are attractive materials for use as electrocatalysts in the reduction of N_(2)to NH_(3).In this work,a MIL-101(Fe)/MoS_(3)hybrid catalyst, prepared by using a precursor-transformation strategy,is shown to be an effective electrocatalyst for the N_(2)reduction reaction(NRR).Under solvothermal conditions,micro-sized octahedral MIL-101(Fe)precursors are converted into ultra-small nanodots, while amorphous MoS_(3)derived from(NH_(4))_(2)MoS_(4)provides a surface suitable for anchoring the MIL-101(Fe)nanodots.The asprepared composite exhibits excellent electrocatalytic activity and durability for the NRR with a Faraday efficiency of 36.71%and an NH_(3)yield of 25.7μg h^(-1)mg_(cat)^(-1)at-0.1 V vs.RHE in 0.1 M HCl.The results show that the dispersion and adherence of MIL-101(Fe)nanodots on amorphous MoS_(3)improves the exposure of active centers and aids mass transfer, resulting in greatly enhanced catalytic activity and stability. | Wan-Ying Xu Cong Li Fei-Long Li Jiang-Yan Xue Wei Zhang Hongwei Gu Brendan F.Abrahams Jian-Ping Lang | 2022 | Science China Chemistry2022,65,5: | 1
InvasionDB: A genome and gene database of invasive alien species显示文摘Invasive alien species(IAS) are species whose introduction to areas outside of their native range cause harm to economics, biodiversity, and the environment. Understanding the genetic basis of invasiveness is critical for preventing invasion by an alien species and managing IAS with eco-friendly control methods. In addition, uncovering the genomic features of IAS is essential for accurately predicting invasiveness. However, even though increasing efforts have been devoted to sequencing the genomes of IAS, there is still not an integrated genome database for the invasive biology community. Here, we first determined a list of invasive plants and animals by mining references and databases. Then, we retrieved the genomic and gene data of these IAS, and constructed a database, Invasion DB. Invasion DB encompasses 131 IAS genomes, 76 annotated IAS assemblies, and links these data to conventional functions such as searching for gene coding sequences and Pfam, KEGG, NR annotations, BLAST server, JBrowse, and downloads services. Next, we analyzed 19 invasivenessrelated gene families which confer invasiveness in insects. To study the roles of noncoding RNA in invasiveness, we also annotated 135 494 mi RNAs, 89 294 r RNAs, and 2 671 941 t RNAs from these IAS. In summary, Invasion DB is useful for studying the invasiveness at the genomic level, and thus helps to develop novel management strategies to control IAS. | HUANG Cong LANG Kun QIAN Wan-qiang WANG Shu-ping CAO Xiao-mei HE Rui ZHAN An-ran CHEN Meng-yao YANG Nian-wan LI Fei | 2021 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2021,20,1: | 1

Accelerating water dissociation at carbon supported nanoscale Ni/NiO heterojunction electrocatalysts for high-efficiency alkaline hydrogen evolution显示文摘The synergistic catalysis of heterojunction electrocatalysts for the multi-step process in hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)is a promising approach to enhance the kinetics of alkaline HER.Herein,we proposed a strategy to form nanoscale Ni/NiO heterojunction porous graphitic carbon composites(Ni/NiO-PGC)by reduction-pyrolysis of the preformed Ni-metal-organic framework(MOF)under H2/N2 atmosphere.Benefiting from low electron transfer resistance, increased number of active sites, and unique hierarchical micro-mesoporous structure, the optimized Ni/NiO-PGC_(10-1-400)exhibited excellent electrocatalytic performance and robust stability for alkaline HER(η10=30 mV,65 h).Density functional theory(DFT)studies revealed that the redistribution of electrons at the Ni/NiO interface enables the NiO phase to easily initiate the dissociation of alkaline H_(2)O,and shifts down the d-band center of Ni and optimizes the H*adsorption-desorption process of Ni,thereby leading to extremely high HER activity. This work contributes to a further understanding of the synergistic promotion of the multi-step HER processes by heterojunction electrocatalysts. | Cong Li Jiang-Yan Xue Wei Zhang Fei-Long Li Hongwei Gu Pierre Braunstein Jian-Ping Lang | 2023 | Nano Research2023,16,4: | 0
Electronic engineering of Co-Ru diatomic sites and Ru nanoparticles for synergistic promotion of hydrogen evolution显示文摘The coexistence of multi-component active sites like single-atom sites, diatomic sites(DAS)and nanoclusters is shown to result in superior performances in the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).Metal diatomic sites are more complex than single-atom sites but their unique electronic structures can lead to significant enhancement of the HER kinetics.Although the synthesis and identification of DAS is usually challenging,we report a simple access to a diatomic catalyst by anchoring Co-Ru DAS on nitrogen-doped carbon supports along with Ru nanoparticles(NPs).Experimental and theoretical results revealed the atomic-level characteristics of Co-Ru sites, their strong electronic coupling and their synergy with Ru NPs within the catalyst. The unique electronic structure of the catalyst resulted in an excellent HER activity and stability in alkaline media. This work provides a valuable insight into a widely applicable design of diatomic catalysts with multi-component active sites for highly efficient HER electrocatalysis. | Wei Zhang Cong Li Yongyong Cao Jun-Yang Ji Zhao-Chen Li Zheng Niu Hongwei Gu Pierre Braunstein Jian-Ping Lang | 2024 | Nano Research2024,17,5: | 0

Epitaxial etching of organic single crystals显示文摘Organic single crystals(OSCs)have received increasing interest in the last decades for their potential applications in flexible electronics.Although there are various subtractive manufacturing methods of organic electronics, the subtractive manufacturing of OSCs is still a challenge, since OSCs are assembled via weak van-der-Waals interactions which are vulnerable and cannot afford damages and suffer the degradation of performances after the process. Here,we develop an epitaxial etching strategy which clips the OSCs and keeps high-quality crystalline nature of the resulting materials. As a result,high-quality organic micro-ribbon arrays are fabricated which maintains 89%charge mobility in average compared with original OSCs,showing great potential of this subtractive manufacturing method in future organic electronics. | Cong Zhang Daizong Ji Lang Jiang Yunqi Liu Dacheng Wei | 2022 | Chinese Chemical Letters2022,33,1: | 0
Trichoderma metabolites trigger aggregation behavior in Formosan subterranean termites (Coptotermes formosanus)显示文摘Our previous studies have shown that some Trichoderma fungi trigger aggregation behavior in Formosan subterranean termites,Coptotermes formosanus Shiraki. However, the mechanisms underlying the induction of termite aggregation by Trichoderma fungi remain unclear. Here,we found that the aqueous or acetone extract of Trichoderma asperellum Samuels,Lieckfeldt&Nirenberg and Trichoderma virens Pers.ex Fries isolated from the gut or cuticle of C.formosanus elicited significant termite aggregation in 2-choice tests. We then screened 9 Trichoderma metabolites(3-acetoxy-2-butanone,phenol,3-ethoxypropionic acid, ethyl 2,4-dioxovalerate,diglycolic acid,d-valine,styrene,3-aminopyridine,and hexyl acetoacetate)that triggered termite aggregation.Among them,phenol(1000μg/mL),3-ethoxypropionic acid(10μg/mL),ethyl 2,4-dioxovalerate(1000μg/mL),and diglycolic acid(1000μg/mL)showed the strongest activities, triggering termite aggregation throughout the 24-h period. As T.asperellum and T.virens produce different metabolites that trigger aggregation behavior in termites, the mechanisms underlying the interaction between subterranean termites and Trichoderma fungi likely vary.Future studies are needed to test whether these chemicals can attract termites and increase bait consumption. | Lang Zhang Cong Yi Chengju Du Chao Wen Zhiqiang Li Yong Chen Xiujun Wen Cai Wang | 2023 | Insect Science2023,30,6: | 0
Exploring the tidal effect of urban business district with large-scale human mobility data显示文摘Business districts are urban areas that have various functions for gathering people, such as work, consumption, leisure and entertainment.Due to the dynamic nature of business activities, there exists significant tidal effect on the boundary and functionality of business districts.Indeed, effectively analyzing the tidal patterns of business districts can benefit the economic and social development of a city. However, with the implicit and complex nature of business district evolution,it is non-trivial for existing works to support the fine-grained and timely analysis on the tidal effect of business districts. To this end,we propose a data-driven and multi-dimensional framework for dynamic business district analysis.Specifically,we use the large-scale human trajectory data in urban areas to dynamically detect and forecast the boundary changes of business districts in different time periods. Then,we detect and forecast the functional changes in business districts.Experimental results on real-world trajectory data clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of our framework on detecting and predicting the boundary and functionality change of business districts. Moreover, the analysis on practical business districts shows that our method can discover meaningful patterns and provide interesting insights into the dynamics of business districts. For example, the major functions of business districts will significantly change in different time periods in a day and the rate and magnitude of boundaries varies with the functional distribution of business districts. | Hongting NIU Ying SUN Hengshu ZHU Cong GENG Jiuchun YANG Hui XIONG Bo LANG | 2023 | Frontiers of Computer Science2023,17,3: | 0
Inhibiting the expression of hepatocyte nuclear factor 4 alpha attenuates lipopolysaccharide/ D-galactosamine-induced fulminant hepatic failure in mice显示文摘BACKGROUND: Hepatocyte nuclear factor 4 alpha (HNF4α) plays an important role in regulating cytokine-induced inflammatory responses. This study aimed to investigate the role of HNF4α in the development of fulminant hepatic failure (FHF) induced by lipopolysaccharide/D-galactosamine (LPS/D-GalN). METHODS: The FHF model was induced by simultaneous intraperitoneal injection of LPS/D-GalN in mice. Three days prior to LPS/D-GalN administration, HNF4α short-hairpin interfering RNA expression plasmid or physiological saline was injected via the tail vein with a hydrodynamics-based procedure. The degree of hepatic damage and cumulative survival rate were subsequently assessed. RESULTS: The expression of HNF4α was increased in the early stage after LPS/D-GalN administration. Inhibiting the expression of HNF4α reduced serum levels of alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase, alleviated histological injury, and improved the survival of mice with FHF. In addition, both serum and hepatic tumor necrosis factor alpha expression were suppressed when HNF4α expression was inhibited in mice with FHF. CONCLUSION: Inhibiting HNF4α expression protects mice from FHF induced by LPS/D-GalN, but the exact mechanism behind this needs further investigation. | En-Qiang Chen, Dao-Yin Gong, Xiao-Hua Leng, Lang Bai, Cong Liu, Li-Chun Wang , Hong Tang Center for Infectious Diseases, West China Hospital and State Key Laboratory of Biotherapy ,Department of Forensic Pathology, College of Basic Medicine and Forensic Medicine , Sichuan University, Chengdu 610041, China | 2012 | Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2012,11,6: | 0
