1Effect of storage time on the characteristics of corn and efficiency of its utilization in broiler chickens显示文摘Corn is one of the staple food and feed ingredients in China, therefore its storage is of particular importance. Corn is typically stored for 2 or more years in national barns before it is sold as a food or feed ingredient. However, the effects of stored corn in national barns on the animal performance and nutrient utilization have not been investigated thus far. This study attempted to determine the effects of storage time on the chemical and physical characteristics of corn and its nutritional value, broiler growth performance, and meat quality. Corn grains used in the present study were stored for 4 different periods,from 2 to 5 yr, under the same conditions in a building at the Beijing National Grain Storage Facility. A total of 240 birds in Exp. 1 and 90 birds in Exp. 2 were used to compare the effects of storage time on the utilization of nutrients of corn, the performance, and meat quality of broilers. The content of starch, crude protein, amino acids, fatty acids, and test weight generally decreased with increasing storage time. Corn stored for over 4 yr showed decreased catalase(CAT) and peroxidase(POD) activities and increased fat acidity. Body weight gain(BWG) and European production index(EPI) of broilers from 0 to 3 wk tended to decrease linearly with storage time(0.05 < P < 0.10), and the BWG and EPI of broilers from 4 to 6 wk decreased quadratically(P < 0.05), whereas feed conversion ratio(FCR) increased with storage time(P < 0.05). The FCR, performance, and EPI of broilers positively correlated with CAT activity(P < 0.05), and negatively correlated with fat acidity(P < 0.05). Drip loss of breast muscle increased linearly with corn storage time(P < 0.001); however, pH decreased linearly with corn storage time. Drip loss had a strong negative correlation with POD(P < 0.05). There were no significant differences of the storage length on metabolizable energy(ME), digestibility of crude protein, and starch(P > 0.05). The digestibility of histidine and arginine, and C18:2 and C18:3 changed quadratically with storage time(P < 0.05).Collectively, the results suggest that the use of corn stored for 4 yr in animal feed decreased the performance and meat quality of broilers. 3Research progress in electrospinning engineering for all-solid-state electrolytes of lithium metal batteries显示文摘Owing to safety issue and low energy density of liquid lithium-ion batteries(LIBs),all-solid-state lithium metal batteries(ASLMBs)with unique all-solid-state electrolytes(SEs)have attracted wide attentions.This arises mainly from the advantages of the SEs in the suppression of lithium dendrite growth,long cycle life,and broad working temperature range,showing huge potential applications in electronic devices,electric vehicles,smart grids,and biomedical devices.However,SEs suffer from low lithiumion conductivity and low mechanical integrity,slowing down the development of practical ASLMBs.Nanostructure engineering is of great efficiency in tuning the structure and composition of the SEs with improved lithium-ion conductivity and mechanical integrity.Among various available technologies for nanostructure engineering,electrospinning is a promising technique because of its simple operation,cost-effectiveness,and efficient integration with different components.In this review,we will first give a simple description of the electrospinning process.Then,the use of electrospinning technique in the synthesis of various SEs is summarized,for example,organic nanofibrous matrix,organic/inorganic nanofibrous matrix,and inorganic nanofibrous matrix combined with other components.The current development of the advanced architectures of SEs through electrospinning technology is also presented to provide references and ideas for designing high-performance ASLMBs.Finally,an outlook and further challenges in the preparation of advanced SEs for ASLMBs through electrospinning engineering are given.Manxi Wang Yaling Wu Min Qiu Xuan Li Chuanping Li Ruiling Li Jiabo He Ganggang Lin Qingrong Qian Zhenhai Wen Xiaoyan Li Ziqiang Wang Qi Chen Qinghua Chen Jinhyuk Lee Yiu-Wing Mai Yuming Chen 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,10:4

7Research Progress in Lithium-Excess Disordered Rock-Salt Oxides Cathode显示文摘The increasing demand for new energy sources has promoted the improvement of the energy storage capacity of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)that urged the development of higher energy density cathode materials.The enhancement of the classical cathode in the last 30 years has reached a bottleneck,and then the discovery of the lithium-excess disordered materials has greatly expanded the research space of the cathode materials.Compared with the conventional layered oxides,the lithium-excess disordered rock-salt oxides(LEDRXs)with a more stable structure has higher extractable Li^(+)content,even though the inactive high-valent transition metals(TMs)were needed to compensate for the excess Li,which would reduce the total TM redox content.In addition,oxygen redox provides additional electron capacity for the materials,which also causes O loss and results in the subsequent poor cycle performance.Herein,a series of studies about LEDRXs and their targeted modification measures are summarized,including the prospect of the materials,in order to provide ideas for the design of highperformance LEDRXs.Finally,the new discoveries and outlook on future research directions of LEDRX cathode materials for LIBs with higher energy density are given.Manxi Wang Xiaochuan Chen Hurong Yao Ganggang Lin Jinhyuk Lee Yuming Chen Qinghua Chen 2022Energy & Environmental Materials2022,5,4:0

9Characteristics of Sputter-deposited Gadolinia-doped Ceria Thin Films on Al_2O_3/SiO_2/Si Systems显示文摘Metal oxide films prepared by thin film technology have been reported for the potential applications on thin solid electrolyte layers for solid oxide fuel cells(SOFCs). Gadolinia-doped ceria(GDC) thin films and Al2O3 layers on SiO2/Si substrates are successively deposited by RF reactive magnetron sputtering from a cerium-gadolinium (90:10 at.%) alloy target and Al target in O2/Ar gas mixture and then perform post-thermal treatments at 300-700 ℃ and 900 ℃ for 2 h, respectively. Materials characteristics and chemical compositions of GDC films and Al2O3 layers are investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), cross-sectional scanning electron microscopy(SEM), X-ray diffraction(XRD), and atomic force microscopy(AFM). Stoichiometric Al2O3 layers with polycrystalline structures are firstly prepared onto SiO2/Si substrates. A cubic fluorite structure with columnar crystallites of GDC films is successfully deposited on Al2O3/SiO2/Si systems. The chemical composition of 700 ℃-annealed GDC films is (Ce0.91Gd0.09)O1.94 and possesses a higher film density of 7.257 g/cm3.
