Ambient volatile organic compounds pollution in China显示文摘Owing to rapid economic and industrial development,China has been suffering from degraded air quality and visibility. Volatile organic compounds(VOCs)are important precursors to the formation of ground-level ozone and hence photochemical smog. Some VOCs adversely affect human health. Therefore,VOCs have recently elicited public concern and given new impetus to scientific interest. China is now implementing a series of polices to control VOCs pollution. The key to formulating policy is understanding the ambient VOCs pollution status. This paper mainly analyzes the species, levels, sources, and spatial distributions of VOCs in ambient air. The results show that the concentrations of ambient VOCs in China are much higher than those of developed countries such as the United States and Japan, especial benzene, which exceeds available standards. At the same time, the ozone formation potential(OFP)and secondary organic aerosol formation potential(SOAFP)of various VOCs are calculated. Aromatics and alkenes have much higher OFPs,while aromatics have higher SOAFP. The OFPs of ambient VOCs in the cities of Beijing,Guangzhou and Changchun are very high, and the SOAFP of ambient VOCs in the cities of Hangzhou,Guangzhou and Changchun are higher.Xinmin Zhang Zhigang Xue Hong Li Li Yan Yuan Yang Yi Wang Jingchun Duan Lei Li Fahe Chai Miaomiao Cheng Weiqi Zhang 2017Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,5:34
Characteristics of the lower layer of sandstorms in the Minqin desert-oasis zone显示文摘By measuring the sand-dust flux, vertical deposition, and the wind velocity throughout 19 sandstorms in the Minqin region,we quantitatively analyzed the horizontal distribution and vertical variation in sandstorm characteristics under different land cover conditions. The effect of different land cover on mitigating sandstorms was also investigated. The results indicated that,in the surface layer ranging from 0-50 m,the intensity of sand-dust horizontal flux and concentration of sand-dust decreased with the increase of the height in the desert and the edge of oasis, whereas the two physical quantities increased slightly with the increase of the height in the oasis. The two physical quantities obey power function well under all three cover conditions. Moreover,in the desert and at the edge of oasis, the sand-dust vertical deposition decreased with the increase of the height. But a partial unimodal distribution at the oasis site and the maximum deposition occurred at the height of 9 m,which corresponds to the middle height of farmland protection forest. The annual flux that passed through a section of 1 m in width and 50 m in height was 9169 kg in the desert,5318 kg at the edge of oasis, and 2345 kg in the oasis. And the annual fluxes at the edge of oasis and in the oasis are 42% and 74% less, respectively, than that in the desert. This implies that the wind break forest significantly reduced the intensity of sandstorms.ZHAO Ming ZHAN KeJie YANG ZiHui FANG ErTian QIU GuoYu WANG QiangQiang ZHANG YinChang GUO ShuJiang LI AiDe ZHANG JingChun 2011Science China Earth Sciences2011,54,5:8
Plasma soluble C-type lectin-like receptor-2 is associated with the risk of coronary artery disease显示文摘Accumulating evidence suggests that C-type lectin-like receptor-2(CLEC-2)plays an important role in atherothrombosis. In this case-control study,we investigated the association between CLEC-2 and incidence of coronary artery disease(CAD).A total of 216 patients, including 14 cases of stable angina pectoris(SAP,non-ACS)and 202 cases of acute coronary syndrome(ACS),and 89 non-CAD control subjects were enrolled.Plasma levels of soluble CLEC-2(sCLEC-2)were measured using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Compared with the control group(65.69(55.36–143.22)pg/mL),the plasma levels of sCLEC-2 were significantly increased in patients with CAD(133.67(88.76–220.09)pg/mL)and ACS(134.16(88.88–225.81)pg/mL).The multivariate adjusted odds ratios(95%confidence interval)of CAD reached 2.01(1.52–2.66)(Ptrend<0.001)for each 1-quartile increase in sCLEC-2.Restricted cubic splines showed a positive dose-response association between sCLEC2 and CAD incidence(Plinearity<0.001).The addition of sCLEC-2 to conventional risk factors improved the C statistic(0.821 vs.0.761,P=0.004)and reclassification ability(net reclassification improvement:57.45%,P<0.001;integrated discrimination improvement:8.27%,P<0.001)for CAD.In conclusion, high plasma sCLEC-2 is independently associated with CAD risk, and the prognostic value of sCLEC-2 may be evaluated in future prospective studies.Min Fei Li Xiang Xichen Chai Jingchun Jin Tao You Yiming Zhao Changgeng Ruan Yiwen Hao Li Zhu 2020Frontiers of Medicine2020,14,1:5
Prediction and systematic study of protein-protein interaction networks of Leptospira interrogans显示文摘Leptospira interrogans serovar Lai is a pathogenic bacterium that causes a spirochetal zoonosis in humans and some animals. With its complete genome sequence available, it is possible to analyze protein-protein interactions from a whole- genome standpoint. Here we combine four recently developed computational approaches (gene fusion method, gene neighbor method, phylogenetic profiles method, and operon method) to predict protein-pro- tein interaction networks of Leptospira interrogans strain Lai. Through comprehensive analysis on in- teractions among proteins of motility and chemotaxis system, signal transduction, lipopolysaccaride bio- synthesis and a series of proteins related to adhesion and invasion, we provided information for further studying on its pathogenic mechanism. In addition, we also assigned 203 previously uncharacterized proteins with possible functions based on the known functions of its interacting partners. This work is helpful for further investigating L. interrogans strain Lai.SUN Jingchun XU Jinlin CAO Jianping LIU Qi GUO Xiaokui SHI Tieliu LI Yixue 2006Chinese Science Bulletin2006,51,11:3
Enhanced microbial reduction of aqueous hexavalent chromium by Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 with biochar as electron shuttle显示文摘Biochar, carbonaceous material produced from biomass pyrolysis, has been demonstrated to have electron transfer property(associated with redox active groups and multi condensed aromatic moiety), and to be also involved in biogeochemical redox reactions. In this study, the enhanced removal of Cr(VI) by Shewanella oneidensis MR-1(MR-1) in the presence of biochars with different pyrolysis temperatures(300 to 800 ℃) was investigated to understand how biochar interacts with Cr(VI) reducing bacteria under anaerobic condition. The promotion effects of biochar(as high as 1.07~1.47 fold) were discovered in this process, of which the synergistic effect of BMBC700(ball milled biochar) and BMBC800 with MR-1 was noticeable, in contrast, the synergistic effect of BMBCs(300–600 ℃) with MR-1 was not recognized. The more enhanced removal effect was observed with the increase of BMBC dosage for BMBC700 + MR-1 group. The conductivity and conjugated O-containing functional groups of BMBC700 particles themselves has been proposed to become a dominant factor for the synergistic action with this strain. And, the smallest negative Zeta potential of BMBC700 and BMBC800 is thought to favor decreasing the distance from microbe than other BMBCs. The results are expected to provide some technical considerations and scientific insight for the optimization of bioreduction by useful microbes combining with biochar composites to be newly developed.Cholnam Ri Jingchun Tang Feng Liu Honghong Lyu Fengxiang Li 2022Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,3:3
Analysis and application of large-scale protein-protein interaction data sets显示文摘Protein-protein interactions play key roles in cells. Lots of experimental approaches and in silico methods have been developed to identify and predict large-scale pro- tein-protein interactions. However, compared with the tradi- tionally experimental results, the high-throughput pro- tein-protein interaction data often contain the false positives in high probability. In order to fully utilize the large-scale data, it is necessary to develop bioinformatic methods for systematically evaluating those data in order to further im- prove the data reliability and mine biological information. This review summarizes the methodologies of analysis and application of high-throughput protein-protein interaction data, including the evaluation methods, the relationship be- tween protein-protein interaction data and other protein biological information, and their applications in biological study. In addition, this paper also suggests some interesting topics on mining high-throughput protein-protein interaction data.SUN Jingchun XU Jinlin LI Yixue SHI Tieliu 2005Chinese Science Bulletin2005,50,20:2
Exploiting Effective Facial Patches for Robust Gender Recognition显示文摘Gender classification is an important task in automated face analysis. Most existing approaches for gender classification use only raw/aligned face images after face detection as input. These methods exhibit fair classification ability under constrained conditions, in which face images are acquired under similar illumination with similar poses. The performances of these methods may deteriorate when face images show drastic variances in poses and occlusion as routinely encountered in real-world data. The reduction in the performances of current gender classification methods may be attributed to the sensitiveness of features to image translations. This work proposes to alleviate this sensitivity by introducing a majority voting procedure that involves multiple face patches.Specifically, this work utilizes a deep learning method based on multiple large patches. Several Convolutional Neural Networks(CNN) are trained on individual, predefined patches that reflect various image resolutions and partial cropping. The decisions of each CNN are aggregated through majority voting to obtain the final gender classification accurately. Extensive experiments are conducted on four gender classification databases, including Labeled Face in-the-Wild(LFW), CelebA, ColorFeret, and All-Age Faces database, a novel database collected by our group. Each individual patch is evaluated, and complementary patches are selected for voting. We show that the classification accuracy of our method is comparable with that of state-of-the-art systems. This characteristic validates the effectiveness of our proposed method.Jingchun Cheng Yali Li Jilong Wang Le Yu Shengjin Wang 2019Tsinghua Science and Technology2019,24,3:2

Integrated metabolomics analysis of the effect of PPARδ agonist GW501516 on catabolism of BCAAs and carboxylic acids in diabetic mice显示文摘The peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor(PPARδ)agonists are reported to improve insulin sensitivity, reduce glucose levels, and alleviate dysfunctional lipid metabolism in animal models of type 2 diabetes mellitus. However, the underlying mechanisms remain incompletely understood.Metabolism plays an essential role in the biological system.Monitoring of metabolic changes in response to disease conditions or drug treatment is critical for better understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms. In this study, metabolic profiling analysis by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry integrated with targeted analysis by liquid chro matography-mass spectrometry was carried out in plasma samples of db/db diabetic mice after six-week treatment of PPARδagonist GW501516.GW501516 treatment significantly altered levels of metabolites, such as branched-chain amino acids(BCAAs),BCAA metabolites(3-hydroxyisobutyric acid and 3-hydroxyisovaleric acid),long-chain fatty acids, uric acid and ketone bodies(3-hydroxybutyric acid and 2-hydroxybutyric acid)which are all associated with the impaired systemic insulin sensitivity. The pre sent results indicate the beneficial effect of PPARδagonist in alleviating insulin resistance of diabetic mice by favorably modulating metabolic profile, thus providing valuable information in understanding the therapeutic potential of PPARδagonists in correcting metabolic dysfunction in diabetes.Li Xiang Juan Nie Li Wang Yu Wang Jingchun Shi Juntong Wei Chi-Wai Lau Zongwei Cai Yu Huang 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,7:1
