1Simulation of particle flow in a bell-less type charging system of a blast furnace using the discrete element method显示文摘A three-dimensional model was established by the discrete element method(DEM) to analyze the flow and segregation of particles in a charging process in detail.The simulation results of the burden falling trajectory obtained by the model were compared with the industrial charging measurements to validate the applicability of the model.The flow behavior of particles from the weighing hopper to the top layer of a blast furnace and the heaping behavior were analyzed using this model.A radial segregation index(RSI)was used to evaluate the extent of the size segregation in the charging process.In addition,the influence of the chute inclination angle on the size segregation and burden profile during the charging process was investigated.Jianliang Zhang Jiayong Qiu Hongwei Guo Shan Ren Hui Sun Guangwei Wang Zhengkai Gao 2014Particuology2014,12,5:16
2Progress in the stratigraphy and geochronology of the Shuidonggou site,Ningxia,North China显示文摘In the past years we carried out further stratigraphy division in field and it is found that rich stone artifacts can be found in fluvial-shallow lake-alluvial sediments on the terrace Ⅱ of Biangou River, in Shuidonggou site, Ningxia and they are SDG1, 2 and 7. More luminescence and AMS 14C dating in laboratory show that Paleolithic culture develops during the Upper Paleolithic period with ages of 35―20 ka. The Paleolithic culture of SDG 1 is a little earlier than that of SDG 2 similar to SDG 7. The sandy sediments on terrace Ⅱ of Biangou River deposits in the past 72―18 ka, corresponding to Last Glacial. 3Terrestrial water storage changes over the Pearl River Basin from GRACE and connections with Pacific climate variability显示文摘Time-variable gravity data from the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment(GRACE)satellite mission are used to study terrestrial water storage(TWS) changes over the Pearl River Basin(PRB) for the period 2003 eN ov. 2014. TWS estimates from GRACE generally show good agreement with those from two hydrological models GLDAS and WGHM. But they show different capability of detecting significant TWS changes over the PRB. Among them,WGHM is likely to underestimate the seasonal variability of TWS, while GRACE detects longterm water depletions over the upper PRB as was done by hydrological models, and observes significant water increases around the Longtan Reservoir(LTR) due to water impoundment.The heavy drought in 2011 caused by the persistent precipitation deficit has resulted in extreme low surface runoff and water level of the LTR. Moreover, large variability of summer and autumn precipitation may easily trigger floods and droughts in the rainy season in the PRB, especially for summer, as a high correlation of 0.89 was found between precipitation and surface runoff. Generally, the PRB TWS was negatively correlated with El Nin^o-Southern Oscillation(ENSO) events. However, the modulation of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation(PDO)may impact this relationship, and the significant TWS anomaly was likely to occur in the peak of PDO phase as they agree well in both of the magnitude and timing of peaks. 4Climate background of the evolution from Paleolithic to Neolithic cultural transition during the last deglaciation in the middle reaches of the Yellow River显示文摘Shizitan in Jixian County, Shanxi Province, is a site of transitional period from Paleolithic to Neolithic. The dating and the sporopollen analysis show that the middle reaches of the Yellow River where the site is located had been maintaining a steppe environment during 35.1-9.4 kaBP, in which, 35.1-17 kaBP belonged to the last glacial. With cold and dry climate, this period featured a desert steppe environment. In the late of this period, the area had a cold and half-humid steppe environment. The 17.0-11.9 kaBP belonged to the early- and mid-period of the last deglaciation. Mild and half-arid steppe alternates with mild and half-arid steppe, with a small amount of deciduous broadleaf species. During the period of 11.9-10.5 kaBP, cold and dry glacial climate appeared once more, featuring a desert steppe environment. During 10.5-9.4 kaBP, it is mild and half-arid, and later transited toward warm and half-humid. 6Phase change driving mechanism and modeling for heat pipe with porous wick显示文摘According to heat pipe theory, capillary force is the only driving force for the circle of working fluid in heat pipe with porous wick. By developing a simulating circuit of liquid and vapor flow in heat pipe with porous wick, this paper presents a new driving mechanism which is from phase change of fluid. Furthermore, by analyzing transport process of working fluid between evaporation and condensation interfaces, a mathematical model is developed to describe this driving mechanism. Besides, calculating examples are given for heat pipe with water as working fluid to predict its driving force and flow resistance. By applying the model presented in the paper, thermal design and calculation for heat pipe with porous wick, especially for miniature heat pipe, can be made correctly, and phase change driving mechanism of working fluid can be explained, which thereby leads to a better understanding of heat transfer limitation of heat pipe with porous wick.LIU Wei LIU ZhiChun YANG Kun TU ZhengKai 2009Chinese Science Bulletin2009,54,21:4
7Selective hydrocracking of light cycle oil into high-octane gasoline over bi-functional catalysts显示文摘Light cycle oil(LCO) with high content of poly-aromatics was difficult to upgrade and convert,which had hindered upgrading fuel quality to meet with the standard of automotive diesel for the purpose of sustainable development.The hydrocracking behaviors of typical aromatics in LCO of naphthalene and tetralin were investigated over NiMo and CoMo catalysts.Several characterization methods including N2-adsoprtion and desorption,ammonia temperature-programmed desorption(NH3-TPD),Pyridine infrared spectroscopy(Py-IR),CO infrared spectroscopy(CO-IR),Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) were applied to determine the properties of different catalysts.The results showed that CoMo catalyst with high concentration of S-edges could hydrosaturate more naphthalene to tetralin but exhibit lower yield of high-value light aromatics(carbon numbers less than 10) than NiMo catalyst.NiMo catalyst with high concentration of Mo-edges also presented a higher selectivity of converting naphthalene into cyclanes than CoMo catalyst.Subsequently,the naphthalene and LCO hydrocracking performances were also investigated over different catalysts systems.The activity evaluation and kinetic analysis results showed that the naphthalene hydrocracking conversion and the yield of light aromatics for CoMo-AY/NiMo-AY grading catalysts were higher than NiMo-AY/CoMo-AY grading catalysts at same condition.A stepwise reaction principle was proposed to explain the high efficiency of CoMo-AY/NiMoAY grading catalysts.Finally,the LCO hydrocracking evaluation results confirmed that CoMo-AY/NiMoAY catalysts grading system with low carbon deposition and high stability could remain high percentage of active phases,which was more efficient to convert LCO to high-octane gasoline.Zhengkai Cao Xia Zhang Chunming Xu Xinlu Huang Ziming Wu Chong Peng Aijun Duan 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,1:3
8Whole-genome sequencing reveals selection signals among Chinese,Pakistani,and Nepalese goats显示文摘The goat(Capra hircus)is one of the oldest domesticated animal species,with archeological evidence indicating that its earliest domestication from the wild ancestor(bezoar)occurred in the Fertile Crescent 10,000 calibrated calendar years ago(Zeder and Hesse,2000).A variety of well-adapted goat breeds with excellent economic traits have been selected artificially and naturally for human needs in China,Pakistan,and Nepal.For example,cashmere goat breeds produce fine cashmere wool and are mainly distributed on the Himalayan Plateau(e.g.,Nepal and Tibet)and in cold northern China(e.g.,Inner Mongolia and Liaoning).The Toggenburg dairy goat is the most productive breed of dairy goat and is distributed in at least 50 countries on all continents(Ferro et al.,2017).Pakistani ewes are reared mostly for meat and wool purposes,but some are used as dairy goats,such as the Bugi Toori goat and Pateri goat(Bilal et al.,2018).Additionally,indigenous goats of the southern Asian regions are well adapted to the local hot environment.Their unique traits and biodiversity serve as genetic resources that can be used for the artificial breeding of goats.Recently,several studies have provided patterns of genome-wide characteristics in goat populations to explore the underlying genetic basis of trait formation and environmental adaptability in China(Zhang et al.,2018),Pakistan(Kumar et al.,2018),and Nepal(Sasazaki et al.,2021),respectively.However,due to the proximity of these geographic regions,the profiles of genetic differences,gene flow,and common genes related to high trait performance between goat populations from China,Pakistan,and Nepal remain unclear.Yefang Li Ying Gong Zhengkai Zhang Ling Li Xuexue Liu Xiaohong He Qianjun Zhao Yabin Pu Yuehui Ma Lin Jiang 2023Journal of Genetics and Genomics2023,50,5:2

11Co-based Amorphous/Nanocrystalline Composite Coatings Deposited by Arc Ion Plating显示文摘Cobalt-based amorphous/nanocrystalline composite coatings have been grown by arc ion plating together with a specimen cooling system.With decreasing substrate temperature,the coatings undergo significant structure evolution.The degree of crystallization first decreases and subsequently increases as confirmed by X-ray diffraction.The cluster size first decreases and then remains constant as confirmed by transmission electron microscopy.The effect of substrate temperature on the evolution of the structure has been studied as a result of a competition between nucleation thermodynamics and kinetics of crystalline growth.With decreasing the substrate temperature,the microhardness and the critical load of the composite coatings firstly increased,and then remained almost constant.And the saturation magnetization revealed the opposite trend over the same range.The essence of these phenomena was ascribed to the microstructural variations caused by the decrease of the substrate temperature.Zhengkai Chang Jun Gong Chao Sun 2013Journal of Materials Science & Technology2013,29,9:1

13Discovery and significance of buried paleoearthquake of the early Shang Dynasty (1260-1520 BC) in Xuecun,Xingyang,Henan Province,China显示文摘Due to the South-to-North Water Diversion Project,the salvage archaeological excavations were conducted in Xuecun,Xingyang city,Henan Province,China,by the Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology of Henan Province in 2005 and 2006.Ample evidence for a paleoearthquake was found during the excavation in the Xuecun archaeological site.The evidence includes faults,two small grabens and a series of ground fissures.These geological structures are considered to be generated by the earthquake.Based on the relationship between the paleoseismic relics and the cultural layers excavated in the site,we inferred that the earthquake took place in the early Shang Dynasty (the Erligang period).The AMS 14C dates of charcoal from ash pits in the site indicate that the earthquake occurred between 1260 BC and 1520 BC.The paleoearthquake during this period was first discovered in the Central Plain of China.This discovery not only extents the scope of paleoseismic investigation,but also provides valuable information for safety evaluation of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project.XIA ZhengKai ZHANG XiaoHu CHU XiaoLong ZHANG JunNa 2010Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,12:1
