1Anisotropic coding metamaterials and their powerful manipulation of differently polarized terahertz waves显示文摘Metamaterials based on effective media can be used to produce a number of unusual physical properties(for example,negative refraction and invisibility cloaking)because they can be tailored with effective medium parameters that do not occur in nature.Recently,the use of coding metamaterials has been suggested for the control of electromagnetic waves through the design of coding sequences using digital elements‘0’and‘1,'which possess opposite phase responses.Here we propose the concept of an anisotropic coding metamaterial in which the coding behaviors in different directions are dependent on the polarization status of the electromagnetic waves.We experimentally demonstrate an ultrathin and flexible polarization-controlled anisotropic coding metasurface that functions in the terahertz regime using specially designed coding elements.By encoding the elements with elaborately designed coding sequences(both 1-bit and 2-bit sequences),the x-and y-polarized waves can be anomalously reflected or independently diffused in three dimensions.The simulated far-field scattering patterns and near-field distributions are presented to illustrate the dual-functional performance of the encoded metasurface,and the results are consistent with the measured results.We further demonstrate the ability of the anisotropic coding metasurfaces to generate a beam splitter and realize simultaneous anomalous reflections and polarization conversions,thus providing powerful control of differently polarized electromagnetic waves.The proposed method enables versatile beam behaviors under orthogonal polarizations using a single metasurface and has the potential for use in the development of interesting terahertz devices.Shuo Liu Tie Jun Cui Quan Xu Di Bao Liangliang Du Xiang Wan Wen Xuan Tang Chunmei Ouyang Xiao Yang Zhou Hao Yuan Hui Feng Ma Wei Xiang Jiang Jiaguang Han Weili Zhang Qiang Cheng 2016Light(Science & Applications)2016,5,1:36
2Kinetics and equilibrium of adsorption of dissolved organic matter fractions from secondary effluent by fly ash显示文摘Fly ash was used as a low-cost adsorbent for removing dissolved organic matter (DOM) in secondary effluent. Batch experiments were conducted under various adsorbent dosages, pH, contact time, temperatures and DOM fractional characteristics. Under the optimum conditions of fly ash dosage of 15 g/L, temperature of 303 K and contact time of 180 min, a removal of 22.5% of the dissolved organic carbon (DOC), 23.7% of UV-254, 25.9% of the trihalomethanes precursors in secondary effluent was obtained. The adsorption of DOM fractions onto fly ash all followed the pseudo second-order kinetic model, and the hydrophilic fraction adsorption by fly ash also fitted the intraparticle diffusion model quite well. Freundlich and Langmuir models were applicable to the fly ash adsorption and their constants were evaluated. The maximum adsorption capacities of the adsorptions revealed that fly ash was more effective in adsorbing hydrophilic fraction than the acidic fractions. Structure changes of the DOM fractions after fly ash adsorption were also characterized via spectrum analyzing. 4Fate of secondary effluent dissolved organic matter during soil-aquifer treatment显示文摘The reduction of mass and trihalomethane formation potential (THMFP) of dissolved organic matter (DOM) and its fractions from secondary effluent during laboratory-scale soil-aquifer treatment (SAT) soil columns were studied. Reduction in dissolved organic carbon (DOC), absorbance of ultraviolet light at 254 nm (UV-254), biodegradable dissolved organic carbon (BDOC) and nonbiodegradable dis- solved organic carbon (NBDOC) for the bulk DOM averaged 72.35%, 53.98%, 97.49% and 35.33% across the soil columns, respectively. Using XAD-8 and XAD-4 resins, DOM was fractionated into 3 fractions: hydrophobic acid (HPO-A), transphilic acid (TPI-A) and hydrophilic fraction (HPI). HPO-A was removed by 61.06%, TPI-A by 54.86% and HPI by 74.95% as DOC as a consequence of the laboratory-scale SAT, respectively. The reduction of THMFP from HPO-A, TPI-A and HPI was 27.24%, 26.24% and 36.08%, respectively. Proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) spectra revealed that the HPO-A isolated from the secondary effluent contained more aromatic functional groups than the corresponding TPI-A. Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrum analysis illustrated that TPI-A had decreased hydrocarbon and increased aromatics content in the SAT columns. Specific ultraviolet light absorbance (SUVA) and specific THMFP for each DOM fraction increased across the soil columns and HPI exhibited greater increase in both than HPO-A and TPI-A. 7Removal and transformation of organic matters in domestic wastewater during lab-scale chemically enhanced primary treatment and a trickling filter treatment显示文摘To find a simple and economical way for treating the domestic wastewater in small counties and towns, a process combining chemically enhanced primary treatment and a trickling filter (CEPT-TF, representing the physical and biological effects) was constructed and operated in laboratory conditions. The characteristic behaviors of dissolved organic matter in raw wastewater and effluents were examined during steady-state operation. Experimental results showed that the process of CEPT and TF in series was beneficial for the removal of hydrophobic and hydrophilic organics. Specially, the hydrophobic and aromatic materials could be preferentially removed in the CEPT unit, and the hydrophilic fraction in the TF. 8Transformation of erythromycin during secondary effluent soil aquifer recharging:Removal contribution and degradation path显示文摘Erythromycin(ERY),a widely used antibiotic,has recently been detected in municipal secondary effluents and poses serious threats to human health during wastewater reusing.In this study,the removal,fate,and degradation pathway of ERY in secondary effluent during soil aquifer treatment was evaluated via laboratory-scale SAT tests.Up to a 92.9%reduction of ERY in synthetic secondary effluent was observed in 1.0 m depth column system,which decreased to 64.7%when recharged with wastewater treatment plant secondary effluent.XRD-fractionation results demonstrated that the transphilic acid and hydrophobic acid fractions in secondary effluent compete for the adsorption sites of the packed soil and lead to a declined ERY removal.Moreover,aerobic biodegradation was the predominant role for ERY removal,contributing more than 60%reduction of ERY when recharged with synthetic secondary effluent.Destruction of 14-member macrocyclic lactone ring and breakdown of two cyclic sugars(L-cladinose and D-desosamine) were main removal pathways for ERY degradation,and produced six new intermediates.Liangliang Wei Kena Qin Ningbo Zhao Daniel R.Noguera Wei Qiu Qingliang Zhao Xiangjuan Kong Weixian Zhang Felix Tetteh Kabutey 2017Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,1:4
9A review of ARGs in WWTPs:Sources,stressors and elimination显示文摘Antibiotic re sistance genes(ARGs)in aquatic enviro nments,which seriously endanger human health and ecological safety,have become a worldwide concern due to their easy diffusion and proliferation.Wastewater treatment plants(WWTPs),which receive resistant bacteria and ARGs from a wide variety of sources(i.e.,livestock farms,hospitals,antibiotic manufactures,and households),are regarded as important emission sources of aquatic ARGs.This review presents a quantitative profile of the majority sources of ARGs in the influent of WWTPs and discusses the potential factors that affect the concentration distribution of ARGs.Specifically,a noteworthy existence of ARGs,which ranged from 1 E+05 to 1 E+11 copies/mL,was detected in livestock breeding wastewater,and household wastewater(caused by the unlimited utilization of antibiotics)was determined to be the predominant contributor of ARGs in WWTPs.We summarized the selective pressure on ARGs and determined the positive correlation of the concentration of ARGs and the existence of many containments,including antibiotics,heavy metals(Zn and Cu were frequently reported),quaternary ammonium compounds,etc.In the last section,physical,chemical,and biological treatments for the removal of ARGs and their effluent in WWTPs are discussed and prospective future studies are summarized.Kena Qin Liangliang Wei Jianju Li Bo Lai Fengyi Zhu Hang Yu Qingliang Zhao Kun Wang 2020Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,10:2
10Rabies Virus Pseudotyped with CVS-N2C Glycoprotein as a Powerful Tool for Retrograde Neuronal Network Tracing显示文摘Efficient viral vectors for mapping and manipulating long-projection neuronal circuits are crucial in structural and functional studies of the brain. The SAD strain rabies virus with the glycoprotein gene deleted pseudotyped with the N2 C glycoprotein(SAD-RV(DG)-N2 C(G)) shows strong neuro-tropism in cell culture, but its in vivo efficiency for retrograde gene transduction and neuro-tropism have not been systematically characterized.We compared these features in different mouse brain regions for SAD-RV-N2 C(G) and two other widely-used retrograde tracers, SAD-RV(DG)-B19(G) and r AAV2-retro. We found that SAD-RV(DG)-N2 C(G) enhanced the infection efficiency of long-projecting neurons by^10 times but with very similar neuro-tropism, compared with SAD-RV(DG)-B19(G). On the other hand, SAD-RV(DG)-N2 C(G) had an infection efficiency comparable with r AAV2-retro, but a more restricted diffusion range, and broader tropism to different types and regions of longprojecting neuronal populations. 11A versatile ligand-assisted cooperative template method to synthesize multi-shelled mesoporous hollow metal hydroxide and oxide nanospheres as catalytic reactors显示文摘Nowadays,multi-shelled mesoporous hollow metal oxide nanospheres have drawn a lot of attention due to their large internal space,nanometer scaled shell thickness,high specific surface area and well-defined mesopores,of which unique nanostructure endows metallic oxides with enhanced properties.In this thesis,we have studied and proposed a versatile ligand-assisted cooperative template method to synthesize multi-shelled mesoporous hollow metal hydroxides and oxides nanospheres,in which silica nanospheres act as sacrificial templates and the coordination interaction between metal ions and surfactant can be cooperatively amplified by using chelating ligand(ascorbic acid)as a co-template.The synthesized metal hydroxides and oxides nanospheres possess stable hollow structure,uniform spherical morphology and tunable diameter from 270 to 690 nm.All the multi-shelled mesoporous hollow metal hydroxide and metal oxide nanospheres exhibit high surface areas(up to 640 m^(2)/g).The obtained Au nanoparticles loaded composited nanospheres exhibit excellent reactivity for solvent-free aerobic oxidation of ethylbenzene with high activity(28.2%)and selectivity(87%).Jingwei Liu Yali Ma Liangliang Zhang Yuenan Zheng Rui Zhang Ling Zhang Feng Wei Zhen-An Qiao 2021Nano Research2021,14,9:2
12Interference at the single-photon level based on silica photonics robust against channel disturbance显示文摘Quantum key distribution(QKD) provides a solution for communication of unconditional security. However,the quantum channel disturbance in the field severely increases the quantum bit-error rate, degrading the performance of a QKD system. Here we present a setup comprising silica planar light wave circuits(PLCs), which is robust against the channel polarization disturbance. Our PLCs are based on the asymmetric Mach–Zehnder interferometer(AMZI), integrated with a tunable power splitter and thermo-optic phase modulators. The polarization characteristics of the AMZI PLC are investigated by a novel pulse self-interfering method to determine the operation temperature of implementing polarization insensitivity. Over a 20 km fiber channel with 30 Hz polarization scrambling, our time-bin phase-encoding QKD setup is characterized with an interference fringe visibility of 98.72%. 13Synthesis and Bioactivities Evaluation of Novel Anthranilic Diamides Containing N-(tert-Butyl)benzohydrazide Moiety as Potent Ryanodine Receptor Activator显示文摘Anthranilic diamides have been proven to be a class of efficacious and safe insecticides targeting ryanodine receptors (RyRs) during the last decade. In order to develop innovative scaffolds with high insecticidal activity, two series of N-pyridylpyrazole derivatives containing N-(tert-butyl)benzohydrazide substructures were designed and synthesized. Their insecticidal activities against oriental armyworm (Mythimna separata) and diamondback moth (Plutella xylostella) were evaluated. Preliminary bioassay results revealed that some of the new compounds exhibited good insecticidal activity against the oriental armyworm and diamondback moth. 15Organic matter extracted from activated sludge with ammonium hydroxide and its characterization显示文摘In order to characterize the organic properties of waste activated sludge in a wastewater treatment plant,organic matter within sludge was extracted with NH 3 ·H 2 O preferentially,and subsequently fractionated into five fractions using XAD-8/XAD-4 resins.Up to a 63.8%-71.1% of organic matter within the sludge could be efficiently extracted by NH 3 ·H 2 O.Fractionation results showed that hydrophobic acid and hydrophilic fraction were two main components among the sludge organic matter (accounting for 32.2% and 48.0% of the bulk organic matter,respectively),whereas transphilic acid,hydrophobic neutral and transphilic neutral were quite low (accounting for 9.2%,5.8% and 4.8%,respectively).Despite that the extractant of NH 3 ·H 2 O showed a relatively higher extraction efficiency of the aromatic components,the relatively low aromaticity of the organic fractions implied that those non-aromatic components could also be effectively extracted,especially for neutral and hydrophilic fractions.In addition,acidic fractions contained more aromatic humic-like components,whereas the neutral fractions had a greater content of aromatic proteins and soluble microbial byproduct-like components.Extraction of sludge organics with NH 3 ·H 2 O and subsequential fractionation using XAD resins could be a novel method for further characterization of sludge organics.Liangliang Wei Kun Wang Qingliang Zhao Junqiu Jiang Chunmei Xie Wei Qiu 2010Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,5:1
16Identification of a dominant murine T-cell epitope in recombinant protein P29 from Echinococcus granulosus显示文摘Echinococcus granulosus causes echinococcosis,an important zoonotic disease worldwide and a major public health issue.Vaccination is an economical and practical approach for controlling E.granulosus.We have previously revealed that a recombinant protein P29(rEg.P29)is a good vaccine candidate against E.granulosus.However,T cell immunogenic epitopes have not been identified.In the present study,we use rEg.P29-immunized mice as models to screen immunogenic epitopes for the construction of a novel multi-epitope vaccine.We search for immunodominant epitopes from an overlapping peptide library to screen the peptides of rEg.P29.Our results confirm that rEg.P29 immunization in mice elicits the activation of T cells and induces cellular immune responses.Further analyses show that a T cell epitope within amino acids 86–100 of rEg.P29 elicits significant antigen-specific IFN-γproduction in CD4^(+) and CD8^(+) T cells and promotes specific T-cell activation and proliferation.Collectively,these results provide a reference for the construction of a novel vaccine against broad E.granulosus genotypes based on epitopes of rEg.P29.Yongxue Lv Yazhou Zhu Liangliang Chang Jihui Yang Yinqi Zhao Jiaqing Zhao Yana Wang Mingxing Zhu Changyou Wu Wei Zhao 2022Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2022,54,4:1

18LncRNA DACH1 protects against pulmonary fibrosis by binding to SRSF1 to suppress CTNNB1 accumulation显示文摘Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis(IPF)is a progressive disease with unknown etiology and limited therapeutic options.Activation of fibroblasts is a prominent feature of pulmonary fibrosis.Here we report that lncRNA DACH1(dachshund homolog 1)is downregulated in the lungs of IPF patients and in an experimental mouse model of lung fibrosis.LncDACH1 knockout mice develop spontaneous pulmonary fibrosis,whereas overexpression of LncDACH1 attenuated TGF-β1-induced aberrant activation,collagen deposition and differentiation of mouse lung fibroblasts.Similarly,forced expression of LncDACH1 not only prevented bleomycin(BLM)-induced lung fibrosis,but also reversed established lung fibrosis in a BLM model.Mechanistically,LncDACH1 binding to the serine/arginine-rich splicing factor 1(SRSF1)protein decreases its activity and inhibits the accumulation of Ctnnb1.Enhanced expression of SRSF1 blocked the anti-fibrotic effect of LncDACH1 in lung fibroblasts.Furthermore,loss of LncDACH1 promoted proliferation,differentiation,and extracellular matrix(ECM)deposition in mouse lung fibroblasts,whereas such effects were abolished by silencing of Ctnnb1.In addition,a conserved fragment of LncDACH1 alleviated hyperproliferation,ECM deposition and differentiation of MRC-5 cells driven by TGF-β1.Collectively,LncDACH1 inhibits lung fibrosis by interacting with SRSF1 to suppress CTNNB1 accumulation,suggesting that LncDACH1 might be a potential therapeutic target for pulmonary fibrosis.Jian Sun Tongzhu Jin Zhihui Niu Jiayu Guo Yingying Guo Ruoxuan Yang Qianqian Wang Huiying Gao Yuhan Zhang Tianyu Li Wenxin He Zhixin Li Wenchao Ma Wei Su Liangliang Li Xingxing Fan Hongli Shan Haihai Liang 2022Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2022,12,9:1
