1Increased leptin by hypoxic-preconditioning promotes autophagy of mesenchymal stem cells and protects them from apoptosis显示文摘Autophagy is the basic catabolic progress involved in cell degradation of unnecessary or dysfunctional cellular components.It has been proven that autophagy could be utilized for cell survival under stresses.Hypoxic-preconditioning(HPC)could reduce apoptosis induced by ischemia and hypoxia/serum deprivation(H/SD)in bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs).Previous studies have shown that both leptin signaling and autophagy activation were involved in the protection against apoptosis induced by various stress,including ischemia-reperfusion.However,it has never been fully understood how leptin was involved in the protective effects conferred by autophagy.In the present study,we demonstrated that HPC can induce autophagy in BMSCs by increased LC3-II/LC3-I ratio and autophagosome formation.Interestingly,similar effects were also observed when BMSCs were pretreated with rapamycin.The beneficial effects offered by HPC were absent when BMSCs were incubated with autophagy inhibitor,3-methyladenine(3-MA).In addition,down-regulated leptin expression by leptin-shRNA also attenuated HPC-induced autophagy in BMSCs,which in turn was associated with increased apoptosis after exposed to sustained H/SD.Furthermore,increased AMP-activated protein kinase phosphorylation and decreased mammalian target of rapamycin phosphorylation that were observed in HPC-treated BMSCs can also be attenuated by down-regulation of leptin expression.Our data suggests that leptin has impact on HPC-induced autophagy in BMSCs which confers protection against apoptosis under H/SD,possibly through modulating both AMPK and mTOR pathway.WANG LiHan HU XinYang ZHU Wei JIANG Zhi ZHOU Yu CHEN PanPan WANG JianAn 2014Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,2:8
2Long-tailed object detection of kitchen waste with class-instance balanced detector显示文摘Intelligent detection and classification of kitchen waste can promote ecological sustainability by replacing inefficient manual processes.However,the presence of non-degradable waste mixed in kitchen waste often follows a long-tailed distribution,making it challenging to train convolutional neural network-based object detectors,which results in the unsatisfactory detection of tailclass waste.To address this challenge,we propose a class-instance balanced detector(CIB-Det) for intelligent detection and classification of kitchen waste.CIB-Det implements two strategies for the loss function:the class-balanced strategy(CBS)and the instance-balanced strategy(IBS).The CBS focuses more on tail classes,and the IBS concentrates on hard-to-classify instances adaptively during training.Consequently,CIB-Det comprehensively and adaptively addresses the long-tailed issue.Our experiments on a real dataset of kitchen waste images support the effectiveness of CIB-Det for kitchen waste detection.FANG LeYuan TANG Qi OUYANG LiHan YU JunWu LIN JiaXing DING ShuaiYu TANG Lin 2023Science China(Technological Sciences)2023,66,8:1

4Application of Deep Inspiration Breath Hold Technique in Radiotherapy After Breast- Conserving Surgery for Left Breast Cancer and Its Improvement on Cardiac Dose显示文摘Objective:To analyze the application of deep inspiration breath hold technique in radiotherapy after breast-conserving surgery for left breast cancer and the improvement of cardiac dose.Methods:A total of 45 patients with left breast cancer treated in our hospital after breast-conserving surgery were selected,and the selection time was set from January 2020 to August 2022.All patients received radiotherapy.The right breast,heart,and lung volumes,and dose parameters of the heart,lungs,right breast,and left anterior descending coronary artery were compared under free breathing(FB)and deep inspiration breath hold(DIBH)technical modes.Results:The heart volume of the DIBH group was smaller than that of the FB group,and the left and right lung volumes were significantly larger than those of the FB group.In the DIBH group,the heart dose parameters V5,proper lung dose parameters,and left anterior descending coronary artery dose parameters were found lower than that of the FB group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Compared with FB,the DIBH technique can reduce the heart’s size and increase the lung volume when used for radiotherapy after breast-conserving surgery for left breast cancer.It also reduces the dose to the heart,right lung,and left anterior descending coronary artery,thus protecting the heart and lungs.Yu Luo Lihan Huang Qiao Lan Yurui Wu Yin Li Xiaorong Cheng Kunhai Xiong Xiaoyu Wu 2023Proceedings of Anticancer Research2023,7,5:0
