Remineralization of enamel caries by an amelogenin-derived peptide and fluoride in vitro显示文摘Dental caries is one of the most common oral diseases in the world. This study was tantamount to investigate the combinatory effects of an amelogenin-derived peptide(called QP5)and fluoride on the remineralization of artificial enamel caries. The peptide QP5 was synthesized and characterized, and the binding capability of the peptide on hydroxyapatite(HA)and demineralized tooth enamel surface was analysed. Then, the mineralization function of the peptide and fluoride was studied through the spontaneous mineralization testing and remineralization on enamel caries in vitro.First, the novel peptide QP5 could bind on the hydroxyapatite and demineralized tooth enamel surfaces.Second,QP5 can transitorily stabilize the formation of amorphous calcium phosphate and direct the transformation into hydroxyapatite crystals alone and in combination with fluoride. In addition, compared to blocks treated by peptide QP5 alone or fluoride, the sample blocks showed significantly higher surface microhardness, lower mineral loss and shallower lesion depth after treatment with a combination of QP5 and fluoride at high or low concentrations. The peptide QP5 could control the crystallization of hydroxyapatite, and combinatory application of peptide QP5 and fluoride had a potential synergistic effect on the remineralization of enamel caries. | Longjiang Ding Sili Han Kun Wang Sainan Zheng Wenyue Zheng Xiu Peng Yumei Niu Wei Li Linglin Zhang | 2020 | Regenerative Biomaterials2020,7,3: | 6
Anti-biofilm and remineralization effects of chitosan hydrogel containing amelogeninderived peptide on initial caries lesions显示文摘In this study,we have designed a more clinically powerful anti-caries treatment by applying the amelogenin-derived peptide QP5 to the antibacterial carrier material chitosan in a hydrogel(CS-QP5 hydrogel),and characterized its effects on the inhibition of a cariogenic biofilm and the promotion of the remineralization of the initial caries lesions. The results indicated that the CS-QP5 hydrogel sustainably inhibited the growth of the Streptococcus mutans biofilm, lactic acid production and the metabolic activity over a prolonged period of time. Moreover, the CS-QP5 hydrogel promoted the remineralization of early enamel lesions, which were indicated by surface microhardness(,polarized light microscopy and transverse microradiography. In conclusion, the CS-QP5 hydrogel shows good potential for caries control in the clinic because of its antibacterial effects as well as the remineralization of initial enamel carious lesions even in a biofilm model over a prolonged period of time. | Qian Ren Zhongcheng Li Longjiang Ding Xiuqing Wang Yumei Niu Xi Qin Xuedong Zhou Linglin Zhang | 2018 | Regenerative Biomaterials2018,5,2: | 5

Comparative analysis of de novo transcriptome assembly显示文摘The fast development of next-generation sequencing technology presents a major computational challenge for data processing and analysis.A fast algorithm,de Bruijn graph has been successfully used for genome DNA de novo assembly;nevertheless, its performance for transcriptome assembly is unclear. In this study,we used both simulated and real RNA-Seq data, from either artificial RNA templates or human transcripts,to evaluate five de novo assemblers,ABySS,Mira,Trinity,Velvet and Oases.Of these assemblers,ABySS,Trinity,Velvet and Oases are all based on de Bruijn graph, and Mira uses an overlap graph algorithm.Various numbers of RNA short reads were selected from the External RNA Control Consortium(ERCC) data and human chromosome 22.A number of statistics were then calculated for the resulting contigs from each assembler. Each experiment was repeated multiple times to obtain the mean statistics and standard error estimate.Trinity had relative good performance for both ERCC and human data, but it may not consistently generate full length transcripts.ABySS was the fastest method but its assembly quality was low.Mira gave a good rate for mapping its contigs onto human chromosome 22,but its computational speed is not satisfactory. Our results suggest that transcript assembly remains a challenge problem for bioinformatics society. Therefore,a novel assembler is in need for assembling transcriptome data generated by next generation sequencing technique. | CLARKE Kaitlin YANG Yi MARSH Ronald XIE LingLin ZHANG Ke K. | 2013 | Science China(Life Sciences)2013,56,2: | 3

Vessel fusion tracking with a dual-frequency high-frequency surface wave radar and calibrated by an automatic identification system显示文摘High-frequency surface wave radar(HFSWR) and automatic identification system(AIS) are the two most important sensors used for vessel tracking. The HFSWR can be applied to tracking all vessels in a detection area, while the AIS is usually used to verify the information of cooperative vessels.Because of interference from sea clutter, employing single-frequency HFSWR for vessel tracking may obscure vessels located in the blind zones of Bragg peaks.Analyzing changes in the detection frequencies constitutes an effective method for addressing this deficiency.A solution consisting of vessel fusion tracking is proposed using dual-frequency HFSWR data calibrated by the AIS.Since different systematic biases exist between HFSWR frequency measurements and AIS measurements,AIS information is used to estimate and correct the HFSWR systematic biases at each frequency.First,AIS point measurements for cooperative vessels are associated with the HFSWR measurements using a JVC assignment algorithm. From the association results of the cooperative vessels, the systematic biases in the dualfrequency HFSWR data are estimated and corrected. Then, based on the corrected dual-frequency HFSWR data, the vessels are tracked using a dual-frequency fusion joint probabilistic data association(JPDA)-unscented Kalman filter(UKF) algorithm.Experimental results using real-life detection data show that the proposed method is efficient at tracking vessels in real time and can improve the tracking capability and accuracy compared with tracking processes involving single-frequency data. | ZHANG Hui LIU Yongxin JI Yonggang WANG Linglin | 2018 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2018,37,7: | 3

Review of ultraviolet ageing mechanisms and anti-ageing methods for asphalt binders显示文摘Asphalt binder is inevitably aged by ultraviolet(UV)light during its service period.UV ageing can significantly decrease the technical properties of asphalt binder. The sensitivity of asphalt to UV ageing and thermal-oxidative ageing differs, such that the UV ageing performance cannot be determined based on the thermal-oxidative ageing performance.Previous researches mainly focused on the chemical composite and technical performance changes of asphalt binder during UV ageing, and the UV light parameters effect on the ageing rate of asphalt binder. However, the theory for characterizing and explaining the development of UV ageing depth does not get too much attentions, and the UV ageing mechanism of asphalt binder is not very clear. Therefore,it cannot guide to develop or select the good methods or anti-UV ageing additives for asphalt binders. This paper focuses on the latest researches of the mechanisms and anti-ageing methods of asphalt binders. With the increase of UV ageing time, the UV ageing of asphalt binder develops gradually from the surface to inner part. There are various methods, such as low-penetration grade asphalt, less air void ratio,UV stabilizers and UV light absorbers, that can improve the UV ageing resistance of asphalt binders.A new theory of sensitive wavelengths of asphalt UV ageing is proposed, which can enrich the basic theory of asphalt UV ageing.Depending on this theory, different wavelengths of UV light have different ageing effects on asphalt binder. The composite anti-UV ageing additives with barrier and specific absorption effects on UV light is proposed, and may have better improvement effect on the anti-UV ageing performance of asphalt binder. | Yuanyuan Li Jianlin Feng Shaopeng Wu Anqi Chen Dongliang Kuang Tao Bai Yangming Gao Jizhe Zhang Linglin Li Liyao Wan Quantao Liu Zongwu Chen Dengjun Gu | 2022 | Journal of Road Engineering2022,2,2: | 1
A strong physical unclonable function with machine learning immunity for Internet of Things application显示文摘The physical unclonable functions(PUFs) are novel cryptographic primitives in modern hardware security systems.Compared with traditional alternatives based on digital keys and non-volatile memory(NVM),the PUF system shows great unclonability, high efficiency, and physical attack resilience. However, the conventional PUF design suffers from weak machine learning immunity, high storage overhead, and unreliability, making it difficult to implement in the Internet of Things(Io T) and edge computing applications. This paper presents a new PUF design that could solve the proposed obstacles.By utilizing the emission probability of traps commonly found in nano-scaled transistors,a model-based PUF system with strong machine learning resistance could be achieved. This PUF design, called Prob-PUF,needs fewer challengeresponse pairs(CRPs) space and reveals superior resistance to modeling attacks due to the mixture of stable/random bits in its output response. Moreover, the Prob-PUF system could reach a high level of uniqueness and robustness, making it a potential candidate for future cryptographically secured protocols within the IoT. | Pengpeng REN Yongkang XUE Linglin JING Lining ZHANG Runsheng WANG Zhigang JI | 2024 | Science China(Information Sciences)2024,67,1: | 0
Oral administration of Bacillus coagulans TQ-35 alleviates allergic responses in OVA-sensitive BALB/c mice显示文摘Bacillus coagulans has been extensively studied so far,but there has been a lack of research on its usage in allergy. In this study,we designed to assess the effect of different concentrations of B.coagulans on food allergy in a BALB/c mouse model of ovalbumin(OVA)-induced food allergy and its effect on gut microbes. The assessment of symptoms, specific immunoglobulin E(IgE),T-cell differentiation, and related gene expression levels in sensitized mice by assay indicated that high doses of oral B.coagulans could alleviate allergic symptoms.Treatment with B.coagulans,in the high-dose group, significantly reduced IgE and IgG1 levels and modulated the balance of T helper type 1 cell(Th1)and Th2 and the expression of relevant genes in the spleen.16S rRNA analysis showed that probiotics improved the structure of the microbiota,in particular by boosting the percentage of Clostridia,Bacteroides vulgatus and Enterococcus faecium, and by increasing the abundance of microbial species, thereby modulating the immune system. Therefore, this study can provide insights into the practical application of B.coagulans doses to alleviate OVA allergy. | Yifan Wang Shanjun Chen Chong Wang Yi Zhang Hongliang Zeng Linglin Fu Yanbo Wang | 2024 | Food Science and Human Wellness2024,13,3: | 0
Promoting effect of a calcium-responsive self-assemblyβ-sheet peptide on collagen intrafibrillar mineralization显示文摘Recently,a de novo synthetic calcium-responsive self-assemblyβ-sheet peptide ID8(Ile-Asp-Ile-Asp-Ile-Asp-Ile-Asp)has been developed to serve as the template inducing hydroxyapatite nucleation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of ID8 on intrafibrillar mineralization of collagen making full use of its self-assembly ability. The mineralization experiments were carried out in vitro on both bare TypeⅠcollagen and fully demineralized dentin samples. The calcium-responsive self-assembly of ID8 was revealed by circular dichroism spectrum,8-anilino-1-naphthalenesulfonic acid ammonium salt hydrate assay, attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectrum(ATR-FTIR)and transmission electron microscope(TEM).Polyacrylic acid(450 kDa)with a concentration of 100μg ml^(-1)was selected as the nucleation inhibitor based on the determination of turbidimetry and TEM with selected area electron diffraction(TEM-SAED).The results showed that collagen intrafibrillar mineralization was significantly promoted with the pretreatment of self-assembly ID8 detected by TEM-SAED,SEM,X-ray diffraction and ATRFTIR.The pretreatment of collagen utilizing self-assembly ID8 not only enhanced intermolecular hydrogen bonding but also contributed to calcium retention inside collagen and significantly increased the hydrophilicity of collagen. These results indicated that peptides with self-assembly properties like ID8 are expected to be potential tools for biomimetic mineralization of collagen. | Zhongcheng Li Qian Ren Sili Han Longjiang Ding Xi Qin Die Hu Ting He Tian Tian Ziqian Lu Linglin Zhang | 2022 | Regenerative Biomaterials2022,9,1: | 0

Comparison of immune responses and intestinal flora in epicutaneously sensitized BALB/c or C57BL/6 mouse models of food allergy显示文摘Cutaneous exposure to food allergens through a disrupted skin barrier is recognized as an important cause of food allergy, and the cutaneous sensitized mouse model has been established to investigate relevant allergic disorders. However, the role of different genetic backgrounds of mice on immune responses to food allergens upon epicutaneous sensitization is largely unknown. In this study, two strains of mice,i.e.,the BALB/c and C57BL/6 mice, were epicutaneously sensitized with ovalbumin on atopic dermatitis(AD)-like skin lesions, followed by intragastric challenge to induce IgE-mediated food allergy.Allergic outcomes were measured as clinical signs, specific antibodies and cytokines, and immune cell subpopulations,as well as changes in intestinal barrier function and gut microbiota. Results showed that both strains of mice exhibited typical food-allergic symptoms with a Th2-skewed response. The C57BL/6 mice, rather than the BALB/c mice, were fitter for establishing an epicutaneously sensitized model of food allergy since a stronger Th2-biased response and severer disruptions in the intestinal barrier and gut homeostasis were observed. This study provides knowledge for selecting an appropriate mouse model to study food-allergic responses associated with AD-like skin lesions and highlights the role of genetic variations in the immune mechanism underlying pathogenesis of food allergy. | Gang Yu Yuhao Jiang Shuifeng Zhang Pengpeng Liu Shunyu Wang Huadong Sheng Yanbo Wang Qiaozhi Zhang Linglin Fu | 2024 | Food Science and Human Wellness2024,13,2: | 0
