2Soil respiration in tropical seasonal rain forest in Xishuangbanna, SW China显示文摘With the static opaque chamber and gas chromatography technique, from January 2003 to January 2004 soil respiration was investigated in a tropical seasonal rain forest in Xishuangbanna, SW China. In this study three treatments were applied, each with three replicates: A (bare soil), B (soil+litter), and C (soil+litter+seedling). The results showed that soil respiration varied seasonally, low from December 2003 to February 2004, and high from June to July 2004. The annual average values of CO2 efflux from soil respiration differed among the treatments at 1% level, with the rank of C (14642 mgCO2· m-2. h-1)>B (12807 mgCO2· m-2. h-1)>A (9532 mgCO2· m-2. h-1). Diurnal variation in soil respiration was not apparent due to little diurnal temperate change in Xishuangbanna. There was a parabola relationship between soil respiration and soil moisture at 1% level. Soil respiration rates were higher when soil moisture ranged from 35% to 45%. There was an exponential relationship between soil respiration and soil temperature (at a depth of 5cm in mineral soil) at 1% level. The calculated Q1o values in this study,ranging from 2.03 to 2.36, were very near to those of tropical soil reported. 3Indirectly extruded biodegradable Zn-0.05wt%Mg alloy with improved strength and ductility: In vitro and in vivo studies显示文摘As compared to permanent orthopedic implants for load-bearing applications, biodegradable orthopedic implants have the advantage of no need for removing after healing, but they suffer from the 'trilemma' problem of compromising among sufficiently high mechanical properties, good biocompatibility and proper degradation rate conforming to the growth rate of new bones. In the present work, in vitro and in vivo studies of a Zn-0.05 wt%Mg alloy(namely, Zn-0.05 Mg alloy) were conducted with pure Zn as a control. The Zn-0.05 Mg alloy is composed of a small amount of Mg_2 Zn11 phase embedded in the refined Zn matrix with an average grain size of ~20 μm. The addition of 0.05 wt% Mg into Zn significantly increases the ultimate tensile strength up to 225 MPa and the elongation to fracture to 26%, but has little influence on the in vitro degradation rate. Both Zn and Zn-0.05 Mg alloy exhibit homogeneous in vitro degradation with a rate of about 0.15 mm/year. Based on the cytotoxicity evaluation, Zn and Zn-0.05 Mg alloy do not induce toxicity to L-929 cells, indicating that they have little toxicity to the general functions of the animal. An in vivo biocompatibility study of Zn and Zn-0.05 Mg alloy samples by placing them in a rabbit model for 4.12 and 24 weeks, respectively did not show any inflammatory cells, and demonstrated that new bone tissue formed at the bone/implant interface, suggesting that Zn and Zn-0.05 Mg alloy promote the formation of new bone tissue. The in vivo degradation of Zn and Zn-0.05 Mg alloy does not bring harm to the important organs and their cell structures. More interestingly, Zn and Zn-0.05 Mg alloy exhibit strong antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. 4Effects of Feiwei granules in the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis:a randomized and placebo-controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To document the therapeutic effect of Feiwei granules(FGs) for idiopathic pulmonary fi brosis(IPF).METHODS:One hundred cases with IPF were randomized into the treatment group(80) and control group(20).Both groups were given basic treatment with prednisone.The treatment group was given FGs,and the control group was given Jinshuibao capsules(JCs).Treatment lasted for 6 months.The Medical Research Council Dyspnea Scale(MRCDS),the Saint George's Hospital Respiratory Questionnaire(SGHRQ),pulmonary function,the Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Score(TCMSS),6-min walking test(6MWT) and blood gas analyses were recorded before the study as well as3 months and 6 months after treatment.RESULTS:FGs showed greater efficacy than the control in certain parameters between before the study and 6 months,and between 3 months and 6months,in the MRCDS,some indicators in the SGHRQ,and the TCMSS.There were no significant differences between the treatment group and control group in the remainder of the indices evaluated.In the treatment group,there were significant differences in before and after treatment in the MRCDS,SGHRQ,TCMSS and 6MWT.CONCLUSION:FGs were similar to JCs for IPF treatment.Yu Yang Sun Zengtao Shi Liqing Zhang Yanping Zhou Zhaoshan Zhang Shunan Chao Enxiang 2016Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2016,36,4:5
5Influence of Deep Cryogenic Treatment on Microstructures and Mechanical Properties of an Ultrafine-Grained WC-12Co Cemented Carbide显示文摘Effect of deep cryogenic treatment(DCT) on the microstructures and mechanical behavior of ultrafine-grained WC-12 Co cemented carbide was investigated by using XRD, SEM, and DSC. The phase transformations of pure Co and binder phase Co in cemented carbide were analyzed in detail to correlate the strengthening mechanism with its a→ε phase transition. The results show that DCT resulted in a slight increase in hardness and bending strength of ultrafinegrained WC-12 Co cemented carbide. For the ultrafine-grained cemented carbide after DCT, there is no significant change in the microstructure and the elemental distribution of the cemented carbides, but the fractured morphology shows a feature of plastic deformation. In the cases of pure Co and the binder phase Co in WC-12 Co cemented carbide, they exhibit different features of phase transformation. 6Experimental and numerical study on the flapping motion of submerged turbulent plane jet显示文摘A submerged,vertical turbulent plane water jet impinging onto a free surface will be self-excited into a flapping oscillation when the jet velocity,leaving the jet orifice,exceeds a critical value.The flapping phenomenon was verified simultaneously in this paper by laser Doppler velocimeter measurement and numerical analyses with volume of fluid approach coupled with a large eddy simulation turbulent model.The general agreement of mean velocities between numerical predictions and experimental results in self-similar region is good for two cases:Reynolds numbers 2090 and 2970,which correspond to the stable impinging jet and flapping jet.Results show that the flapping jet is a new flow pattern for submerged turbulent plane jets with characteristic flapping frequency,and that the decay of the mean velocity along the jet centerline is considerably faster than that of the stable impinging state.SUN JianHong ZHAO LiQing HSU ChinTsau 2013Science China(Technological Sciences)2013,56,10:4
7Application of a screw conveyor with axial tilt blades on a shearer drum and investigation of conveying performance based on DEM显示文摘Screw conveyors are widely employed in industrial fields for conveying bulk materials.The shearer drum which uses the screw conveying principle is responsible for excavation and conveying coal particles onto the chain conveyor.Screw conveyor performance is affected by potential factors,such as the blade axial tilt angle and style,core shaft form and diameter.The effect of blade axial tilt angle on the conveying performance was investigated with the help of DEM.In the case of the screw conveyor,the mass flow rate,and particle axial velocity increased with increasing positive axial tilt angle,and declined with increasing negative axial tilt angle.In the case of the drum,the mass flow rate,particle axial velocity,and loading rate first increased and then decreased with increasing positive axial tilt angle,and decreased with increasing negative axial tilt angle.These results can be considered as a benchmark for screw conveyor and drum structural designs with axial tilt screw blades.Liqing Sun Xiaodi Zhang Qingliang Zeng Kuidong Gao Kao Jiang Jiawei Zhou 2022Particuology2022,20,2:3
8Large-eddy simulation of the compressible flow past a tabbed cylinder显示文摘The compressible flow past a tabbed cylinder has been studied numerically using large-eddy simulation for a free-stream Mach number M∞=0.75 and a Reynolds number based on the diameter Re=2×105. Because of the passive control of the flow past a tabbed cylinder, the mean drag coefficient of tabbed cylinder is less than that of a corresponding circular cylinder with a drag reduction up to 33%. The fluctuating lift coefficient is greatly suppressed to be nearly zero. Drag reduction due to the shearing process prevails over that due to the compressing process in this flow. Through investigating the mechanisms relevant to passive control of the tab, it is found that suppression of the shear layer instability can lead to a higher-base-pressure distribution, which can reasonably be associated with drag reduction and suppression of the lift fluctuations. 9De novo Assembly of Pen Shell(Atrina pectinata) Transcriptome and Screening of Its Genic Microsatellites显示文摘The pen shell(Atrina pectinata) is a large wedge-shaped bivalve, which belongs to family Pinnidae. Due to its large and nutritious adductor muscle, it is the popular seafood with high commercial value in Asia-Pacific countries. However, limiting genomic and transcriptomic data have hampered its genetic investigations. In this study, the transcriptome of A. pectinata was deeply sequenced using Illumina pair-end sequencing technology. After assembling, a total of 127263 unigenes were obtained. Functional annotation indicated that the highest percentage of unigenes(18.60%) was annotated on GO database, followed by 18.44% on PFAM database and 17.04% on NR database. There were 270 biological pathways matched with those in KEGG database. Furthermore, a total of 23452 potential simple sequence repeats(SSRs) were identified, of them the most abundant type was mono-nucleotide repeats(12902, 55.01%), which was followed by di-nucleotide(8132, 34.68%), tri-nucleotide(2010, 8.57%), tetra-nucleotide(401, 1.71%), and penta-nucleotide(7, 0.03%) repeats. Sixty SSRs were selected for validating and developing genic SSR markers, of them 23 showed polymorphism in a cultured population with the average observed and expected heterozygosities of 0.412 and 0.579, respectively. In this study, we established the first comprehensive transcript dataset of A. pectinata genes. 10Isolation and Characterization of Melanin Pigment from Yesso Scallop Patinopecten yessoensis显示文摘Melanin is one of the essential compounds in the pigments of molluscan shells.However,the effects of melanin on color variations in molluscs are largely unknown.Our previous study suggests that Yesso scallop Patinopecten yessoensis might contain melanin pigment in the dark brown shell.We therefore isolated melanin from the pigmented shells using hydrochloric acid method,and characterized the types of melanin pigments by spectrophotometry.The purified melanin,which was verified by spectrophotometry scanning and HPLC analysis,showed the typical characteristics of melanin absorption spectra and HPLC chromatograms.The contents of pheomelanin and eumelanin in pigmented shells,which were determined by the linear standard curve of melanin at 405 nm and 350 nm absorbance,were 48.23 ? 1.350 and 157.65 ? 5.905 mg,respectively.The present results indicate that the brown-pigmented shells of scallops comprise approximately 76.6% of eumelanin and 23.4% of pheomelanin,which supports the presence of eumelanin-rich pigment in scallop shells.Therefore,the combination of hydrochloric acid extraction and spectrophotometric quantification is a rapid and efficient method to isolate and quantify melanin in shells.This will facilitate the melanin studies related to shell color polymorphism and the selective breeding of bivalves with different shell colors.SUN Xiujun WU Biao ZHOU Liqing LIU Zhihong DONG Yinghui YANG Aiguo 2017Journal of Ocean University of China2017,16,2:2

13Functional isolation,culture and cryopreservation of adult human primary cardiomyocytes显示文摘Cardiovascular diseases are the most common cause of death globally.Accurately modeling cardiac homeostasis,dysfunction,and drug response lies at the heart of cardiac research.Adult human primary cardiomyocytes(hPCMs)are a promising cellular model,but unstable isolation efficiency and quality,rapid cell death in culture,and unknown response to cryopreservation prevent them from becoming a reliable and flexible in vitro cardiac model.Combing the use of a reversible inhibitor of myosinⅡATPase,(-)-blebbistatin(Bleb),and multiple optimization steps of the isolation procedure,we achieved a 2.74-fold increase in cell viability over traditional methods,accompanied by better cellular morphology,minimally perturbed gene expression,intact electrophysiology,and normal neurohormonal signaling.Further optimization of culture conditions established a method that was capable of maintaining optimal cell viability,morphology,and mitochondrial respiration for at least 7 days.Most importantly,we successfully cryopreserved hPCMs,which were structurally,molecularly,and functionally intact after undergoing the freeze-thaw cycle.hPCMs demonstrated greater sensitivity towards a set of cardiotoxic drugs,compared to human-induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes(hiPSC-CMs).Further dissection of cardiomyocyte drug response at both the population and single-cell transcriptomic level revealed that hPCM responses were more pronouncedly enriched in cardiac function,whereas hiPSC-CMs responses reflected cardiac development.Together,we established a full set of methodologies for the efficient isolation and prolonged maintenance of functional primary adult human cardiomyocytes in vitro,unlocking their potential as a cellular model for cardiovascular research,drug discovery,and safety pharmacology.Bingying Zhou Xun Shi Xiaoli Tang Quanyi Zhao Le Wang Fang Yao Yongfeng Hou Xianqiang Wang Wei Feng Liqing Wang Xiaogang Sun Li Wang Shengshou Hu 2022Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,8:1

20Flow Characteristics of Flapping Motion of a Plane Water Jet Impinging onto Free Surface显示文摘A submerged turbulent plane jet in shallow water impinging vertically onto the free surface will produce a large-scale flapping motion when the jet exit velocity is larger than a critical one.The flapping phenomenon is verified in this paper through a large eddy simulation where the free surface is modeled by volume of fluid approach.The quantitative results for flapping jet are found to be in good agreement with available experimental data in terms of mean velocity,flapping-induced velocity and turbulence intensity.Results show that the flapping motion is a new flow pattern with characteristic flapping frequency for submerged turbulent plane jets,the mean centerline velocity decay is considerably faster than that of the stable impinging jet without flapping motion,and the flapping-induced velocities are as important as the turbulent fluctuations.Liqing Zhao Jianhong Sun 2013Advances in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics2013,5,6:1
