| 2 | Two energy balance closure approaches: applications and comparisons over an oasis-desert ecotone显示文摘Studies of energy balance that rely on eddy covariance(EC) are always challenged by energy balance closure, which is mainly caused by the underestimations of latent heat flux(LE) and sensible heat flux(Hs). The Bowen ratio(BR) and energy balance residual(ER) approaches are two widely-used methods to correct the LE. A comprehensive comparison of those two approaches in different land-use types is essential to accurately correcting the LE and thus improving the EC experiments. In this study, two energy balance approaches(i.e., BR and ER) were compared to correct the LE measured at six EC sites(i.e., three vegetated, one mixed and two non-vegetated sites) in an oasis-desert ecotone of the Heihe River Basin, China. The influences of meteorological factors on those two approaches were also quantitatively assessed. Our results demonstrated that the average energy closure ratio((LE+Hs)/(Rn–Gs); where Rn is the surface net radiation and Gs is the surface soil heat flux) was approximately close to 1.0 at wetland, maize and village sites, but far from 1.0 at orchard, Gobi and desert sites, indicating a significant energy imbalance at those three latter sites. After the corrections of BR and ER approaches that took into account of soil heat storage, the corrected LE was considerably larger than the EC-measured LE at five of six EC sites with an exception at Gobi site. The BR and ER approaches yielded approximately similar corrected LE at vegetated and mixed sites, but they generated dissimilar results at non-vegetated sites, especially at non-vegetated sites with low relative humidity, strong wind, and large surface-air temperature difference. Our findings provide insight into the applicability of BR and ER approaches to correcting EC-based LE measurements in different land-use types. | 3 | 3D printing of Mg-substituted wollastonite reinforcing diopside porous bioceramics with enhanced mechanical and biological performances显示文摘Mechanical strength and its long-term stability of bioceramic scaffolds is still a problem to treat the osteonecrosis of the femoral head.Considering the long-term stability of diopside(DIO)ceramic but poor mechanical strength,we developed the DIO-based porous bioceramic composites via dilute magnesium substituted wollastonite reinforcing and three-dimensional(3D)printing.The experimental results showed that the secondary phase(i.e.10%magnesium substituting calcium silicate;CSM10)could readily improve the sintering property of the bioceramic composites(DIO/CSM10-x,x=0-30)with increasing the CSM10 content from 0%to 30%,and the presence of the CSM10 also improved the biomimetic apatite mineralization ability in the pore struts of the scaffolds.Furthermore,the flexible strength(12.5 -30 MPa)and compressive strength(14-37 MPa)of the 3D printed porous bioceramics remarkably increased with increasing CSM10 content,and the compressive strength of DIO/CSM10-30 showed a limited decay(from 37 MPa to 29 MPa)in the Tris buffer solution for a long time stage(8 weeks).These findings suggest that the new CSM10-reinforced diopside porous constructs possess excellent mechanical properties and can potentially be used to the clinic,especially for the treatment of osteonecrosis of the femoral head work as a bioceramic rod. | Dongshuang He Chen Zhuang Sanzhong Xu Xiurong Ke Xianyan Yang Lei Zhang Guojing Yang Xiaoyi Chen Xiaozhou Mou An Liu Zhongru Gou | 2016 | Bioactive Materials2016,1,1: | 5 |
| 4 | Ultraviolet absorbance titration for the determination of conditional stability constants of Hg(Ⅱ) and dissolved organic matter显示文摘Strong interaction between natural dissolved organic matter (DOM) and Hg(Ⅱ) may influence the trans- port, conversion, toxicity and bio-validity of mercury in the environment. In this paper ultraviolet (UV) absorbance titration was employed for the first time for the determination of the conditional stability constants of Hg(Ⅱ) and (DOM). With increasing Hg(Ⅱ) concentrations, the UV absorbance of fulvic acid, humic acid, and DOM in river increases progressively. By linear and non-linear model fitting, the conditional stability constants (lgK) of Hg(Ⅱ) and DOM were worked out to be 3.54?4.93 and 3.64?4.85, respectively. The results are consistent with those acquired by the typical fluorescence quenching titration method, with the maximum relative error of lgK being 2.6% and the average relative error being 0.2%. | 5 | Effect of Ermiao Fang with Xixin(Herba Asari Mandshurici) on bone marrow stem cell directional homing to a focal zone in an osteoarthritis rat model显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of Ermiao Fang(EM) with medical guide Xixin(Herba Asari Mandshurici)(HAM) on bone marrow stem cell migration to a focal zone in osteoarthritis(OA) rats.METHODS: OA rats were induced by arthrectomy and assigned to sham-operated, model, EM, or EM plus HAM groups.All rats were injected with recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor 30μg·kg-1·d-1for7 days and treated with EMor EM plus HAM at 1.6 or 1.9 g·kg-1·d-1 for 3 or 6 weeks, respectively. Chondrocyte apoptosis and cartilage matrix components were tested by transferase-mediated deoxyuridine triphosphate-biotin nick end labeling assay and special staining. Levels of interleukin-1 beta(IL-1β) tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-α) nitric oxide(NO), and inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS) in serum were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay or radioimmunoassay. Matrix metalloproteinases(MMPs)-13,tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases(TIMPs)-1,Bromodeoxyuridine(BrdU), cluster of differentiation 34(CD34), and stromal cell-derived factor 1(SDF-1) were measured by immunohistochemical assay.RESULTS:The EM and EM plus HAM groups had significantly less cartilage damage and synovium inflammation the model group. Moreover, the EM and EM plus HAM groups had less chondrocyte apoptosis and more proteoglycan and collagen content than the model group.The EM and EMplus HAM groups had obviously higher MMPs-13 and TIMPs-1 expression in the cartilage than the model group. Moreover, the two formula groups had less release of IL-1β, TNF-α, NO, and iNOS than model group. Importantly, the expressions of BrdU, CD34,and SDF-1 in cartilage were significantly higher in the EM and EM plus HAM-Medtreated rats than model group. | 6 | Extensive Inter-plant Protein Transfer between Cuscuta Parasites and Their Host Plants显示文摘Cuscuta species(dodders)are holoparasites that totally rely on host plants to survive.Although various mobile proteins have been identified to travel within a plant,whether and to what extent protein transfer between Cuscuta and host plants remain unclear.We found that hundreds to more than 1500 proteins were transferred between Cuscuta and the host plants Arabidopsis and soybean,and hundreds of interplant mobile proteins were even detected in the seeds of Cuscuta and the host soybean.Different hosts bridge-connected by dodder were also found to exchange hundreds of proteins.Quantitatively,the mobile proteins represent a few to more than 10%of the proteomes of foreign plants.Using Arabidopsis plants expressing different reporter proteins,we further showed that these reporter proteins could travel between plants and,importantly,retained their activity in the foreign plants.Comparative analysis between the interplant mobile proteins and mRNAs indicated that the majority of mobile proteins were not de novo synthesized from the translocated mRNAs,but bona fide mobile proteins.We propose that large-scale inter-plant protein translocation may play an important role in the interactions between host plants and dodder and even among the dodder bridge-connected hosts. | Nian Liu Guojing Shen Yuxing Xu Hui Liu Jingxiong Zhang Shalan Li Jing Li Cuiping Zhang Jinfeng Qi Lei Wang Jianqiang Wu | 2020 | Molecular Plant2020,13,4: | 3 |
| 7 | Causes and statistical characteristics of bridge failures:A review显示文摘Bridge failure, which is generally associated with serious economic and life losses, is defined as the incapacity of a constructed bridge or its components to perform as specified in the design and construction requirements. This paper presents an overview of current researches on the typical characteristics and causes of bridge failures based on 10 former investigations. Principal causes can be divided into internal causes and external causes or natural factors and human factors. Design error, construction mistakes, hydraulic, collision, and overload are the top 5 leading causes of bridge failures, resulting in more than70% of the bridge failures. Causes of bridge failures are closely related to regional economy,structural type, type of use, material type, and service age. The failure rate is very high for steel bridges, which is inseparable from excessive emphasis on structure strength but lack of consideration on structure stability and fatigue in early years. Researchers need to strengthen their research on the stability and fatigue of steel bridges, as well as inspection and maintenance. Extreme loads such as flood, collision, and overload contribute to a large number of bridge failures because of the lack of extreme loads data and design theory defects. It is critical for such bridges to have sufficient redundancy and capacity protection measures to reduce the probability of bridge failure due to extreme loads. Previous statistical methods and classification methods for the characteristics and causes of bridge failures lack unified standards, and a more scientific method needs to be established. | 8 | Finite-element analysis for surface discharge on polyimide insulation in air at atmospheric pressure under pulsed electrical stress显示文摘A surface discharge non-equilibrium plasma model of air–polyimide under pulsed electrical stress is established, byconsidering the reaction of charged particles on the dielectric surface and the secondary electron emission caused by thecondition that high-energy particles bombard the material surface. The model defines the chemical reaction of air discharge byusing simplified set of reactions, which greatly reduces the complexity of the model. To avoid the negative value of particledensity in the process of solution, the logarithmic finite-element method is used to solve the model established, so as toimplement the dynamic simulation of the surface discharge process. Also, the temporal and spatial evolution of themicroparameters such as charge and electric field distribution during discharge are obtained, and the reliability of the model isverified by experiments in terms of discharge development pattern and surface charge accumulation. The pathological complete response (PCR) rates of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in TNBC were higher than other types of breast cancer with fluctuate data. Predictors to identify which subgroup TNBC was more likely to achieve PCR in neoadjuvant chemotherapy would give us some hints on how to improve outcomes of TNBC patients. The meta-analysis was conducted to contrast the prognostic function of some clinicopathological parameters in the PCR rates of neoadjuvant chemotherapy for TNBC. Methods: Studies were selected from the PubMed database. The relevant parameters to PCR rates in TNBC group were recorded. Review Manager and MIX were used to estimate prognostic function of some biological markers and clinicopathological parameters in PCR rates of TNBC. Results: The analysis included 6 studies with 723 patients, the aggregate PCR rate was 27.9% in TNBC group. The association of lymph nodes metastasis, Ki-67 expression, p53 expression and CK5/6 expression with PCR rate of TNBC was investigated in the analysis, and the odds ratios were 0.50, 9.87, 1.17 and 0.53 respectively. | 17 | Registration of intervention trials of Traditional Chinese Medicine for four neurological diseases on Chinese Clinical Trial Registry and Clinical Trials.gov:a narrative review显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To analyze the current status of clinical trial registration of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)for the treatment of neurological diseases.METHODS:Interventional clinical trials of TCM treatment for ischemic stroke,hemorrhagic stroke,vascular cognitive impairment,tension-type headache before September 22,2020 on the platform of Chinese Clinical Trial Registry(Chi CTR),and Clinical Trials.gov were searched.Two researchers independently selected the literature and extracted data.RESULTS:A total of 180 interventional clinical trials were included for analysis.Out of 180 trials,127 were from Chi CTR and 53 from Clinical Trials.gov.The countries primary sponsoring the included trials were China(176,97.8%),and the common categories of primary sponsors were hospital(131,72.8%).Among the study design,the largest proportion of allocation was randomized(172,95.6%),interventional model assignment was parallel(163,90.6%),masking was double blind 49(27.2%),and the sample size was≤400(144,80.0%).The trials were most carried out at a single center(102,56.7%).Among the included studies,112(62.2%)registered on Chi CTR attached the ethical approval documents.In terms of trial stages,50(27.7%)studies were in phaseⅣ.The mostly used intervention was Chinese herbal medicines(99,55%),acupuncture(68,37.8%)was the second.By searching the registration number on China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database and Pub Med,38(21.1%)registered trials were published,including 25 protocol studies and 14 research results with one(NCT02275949)published both the protocol and the results.CONCLUSIONS:Irregular and inadequate reporting,untimely update and publication,insufficient information on traditional medicine unique characteristics,and lack of international collaborations are the problems existing in the interventional clinical registration trials of traditional medicine treatment on neurological diseases.More efforts need to be made from the above aspects to standardize and improve the registration of traditional medicine trials. | WEI Jingjing GUO Rongjuan FU Guojing LIANG Xiao XU Zhenmin JIA Min ZENG Zixiu DU Wanqing JIAO Weiwei SUN Linjuan LIU Hongmei GUO Chunli TONG Chenguang ZHANG Yunling LIAO Xing | 2022 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2022,42,1: | 1 |

| 19 | Reconstructing avascular necrotic femoral head through a bioactiveβ-TCP system:From design to application显示文摘A variety of techniques have been used for treating avascular necrosis of the femoral head(ANFH),but have frequently failed.In this study,we proposed aβ-TCP system for the treatment of ANFH by boosting revascularization and bone regeneration.The angio-conductive properties and concurrent osteogenesis of the highly interconnected porousβ-TCP scaffold were revealed and quantified through an in vivo model that simulated the ischemic environment of ANFH.Mechanical test and finite element analysis showed that the mechanical loss caused by tissue necrosis and surgery was immediately partially compensated after implantation,and the strength of the operated femoral head was adaptively increased and eventually returned to normal bone,along with continuous material degradation and bone regeneration.For translational application,we further conducted a multi-center open-label clinical trial to assess the efficacy of theβ-TCP system in treating ANFH.Two hundred fourteen patients with 246 hips were enrolled for evaluation,and 82.1%of the operated hips survived at a 42.79-month median follow-up.The imaging results,hip function,and pain scores were dramatically improved compared to preoperative levels.ARCO stage II disease outperformed stage III in terms of clinical effectiveness.Thus,bio-adaptive reconstruction using theβ-TCP system is a promising hip-preserving strategy for the treatment of ANFH. | Yajie Lu Xiantao Chen Xiao Lu Changning Sun Minghui Li Guojing Chen Zuoyao Long Yuan Gao Haoqiang Zhang Mengquan Huang Chuanlei Ji Hongbin Fan Dong Liu Yuewen Hao Hong Wang Leilei Zhang Hongmei Zhang Jianxi Lu Zhen Wang Jing Li | 2023 | Bioactive Materials2023,,10: | 1 |
