1Neutrophil extracellular traps mediate the crosstalk between glioma progression and the tumor microenvironment via the HMGB1/RAGE/IL-8 axis显示文摘Objective:Neutrophil extracellular traps(NETs)produced by tumor-infiltrating neutrophils(TINs)are associated with poor prognosis in patients with several types of cancer.However,the mechanisms underlying the involvement of NETs in glioma progression remain largely unknown.This study aimed to elucidate the roles of NETs in biological processes that drive the crosstalk between glioma progression and the tumor microenvironment.Methods:Neutrophil infiltration and NETs formation were investigated in glioma tissue through immunohistochemistry,and their relationships with clinicopathological features and outcomes were statistically evaluated.The effects of NETs on glioma cell progression were studied in a co-culture system.In vivo and in vitro experiments validated the reactive oxygen species activity and cytokine production of TINs,as well as the ERK signaling pathway activation and the metastasis of gliomas.Results:Neutrophil infiltration and NETs formation were induced in high-grade glioma compared with low-grade glioma.NETs induced by TINs were determined to be an oncogenic marker of high-grade gliomas and to be involved in cell proliferation and invasion.NETs overproduction promoted glioma cell proliferation,migration,and invasion.Furthermore,HMGB1 was found to bind to RAGE and activate the NF-κB signaling pathway in vitro.In addition,NETs stimulated the NF-κB signaling pathway,thus promoting IL-8 secretion in glioblastoma.Subsequently,IL-8 recruited neutrophils which in turn mediated NETs formation via the PI3 K/AKT/ROS axis in TINs.Conclusions:Our results suggest that NETs produced by TINs mediate the crosstalk between glioma progression and the tumor microenvironment by regulating the HMGB1/RAGE/IL-8 axis.Targeting NETs formation or IL-8 secretion may be an effective approach to inhibit glioma progression.Caijun Zha Xiangqi Meng Lulu Li Shan Mi Da Qian Ziwei Li Pengfei Wu Shaoshan Hu Shihong Zhao Jinquan Cai Yanhong Liu 2020Cancer Biology & Medicine2020,17,1:19
2Psychological status and diabetes-related distress of Chinese type 1 diabetes patients in Jiangsu province, China显示文摘We sought to assess the psychological status and diabetes-related distress of Chinese type 1 diabetes patients in Jiangsu province,China.According to the World Health Organization criteria,42 patients with type 1 diabetes were enrolled in the study and assessed with the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS)and Diabetes Distress Scale(DDS).All data were tabulated and statistical analyses were performed.The study summarized cases of 42 patients with type 1 diabetes,including 17 males and 25 females with a mean age of 23±12 years and a mean duration of diabetes of 7±6 years.Compared to the Chinese normative data,the SAS standard score was significantly higher,whereas SDS standard score had no statistical significance.The SAS standard score was most highly correlated with diabetes duration(γ=0.547,P=0.011).Additionally,19.5%of the patients had moderate or even severe diabetes-related distress and 21.4%had moderate or even severe emotional burden while 26.2%had regimen-related distress.Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that the mean correlation between DDS and the four domains was high,particularly the emotional burden domain(estimatedβ=0.363,P<0.001)and regimen-related distress domain(estimatedβ=0.356,P<0.001).The correlation between SAS and DDS was positive(estimatedβ=0.039,P=0.027).In conclusion,the results showed the importance of psychological aspects in Chinese individuals with type 1 diabetes.Screening and treatment of psychological aspects may result in better adherence and increased quality of life for patients with diabetes.Lulu Kong Yun Cai Gang Mei Rong Gu Xiaojiao Zhang Yao Qin Ya Cai Yan Li Hongwen Zhou Mei Zhang Tao Yang 2013The Journal of Biomedical Research2013,27,5:9

4A new method of formation evaluation for fractured and caved carbonate reservoirs:A case study from the Lundong area,Tarim Basin,China显示文摘The carbonate reservoirs in the Tarim Basin are characterized by low matrix-porosity,heterogeneity and anisotropy,which make it difficult to predict and evaluate these reservoirs.The reservoir formations in Lundong area experienced a series of diagenesis and tectonic evolution stages.And secondary storage spaces such as fractures and dissolution caves were developed while nearly all the primary pores have disappeared.Based on a summary of different types of storage spaces and their responses in conventional logs,FMI and full waveform sonic logs which are sensitive to different reservoirs,the comprehensive probability index (CPI) method is applied to evaluating the reservoirs and a standard of reservoir classification is established.By comparing the evaluation results with actual welllogging results,the method has proven to be practical for formation evaluation of carbonate reservoirs,especially for the fractured carbonate reservoirs.In reservoir fluid identification,the multivariate stepwise discriminant analysis (MSDA) method is introduced.Combining the CPI method and MSDA method,comprehensive formation evaluation has been performed for fractured and caved carbonate reservoirs in the Tarim Basin.Additionally,on the basis of secondary pore inversion results,another new method of formation evaluation is also proposed in the discussion part of this paper.Through detailed application result analysis,the method shows a promising capability for formation evaluation of complex carbonate reservoirs dominated by various secondary pores such as holes,caves,and cracks.Yang Haijun Sam Zandong Sun Cai Lulu Xiao Youjun WangHaiyang Luo Chunshu Hu Hongru 2011Petroleum Science2011,8,4:7

9Bioaccumulation and changes of trace metals over the last two decades in marine organisms from Guangdong coastal regions, South China显示文摘Trace metal(Cr, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd and Pb) exposures, distribution and bioaccumulation were investigated in marine organisms from Guangdong coastal regions, South China. The results showed that all of the selected metals were observed in marine organisms with a predomination of Cu and Zn. The metal exposure levels exhibited obvious variations between species with the decreasing order of crab > shellfish > shrimp > fish. The higher metals enrichment seen in shellfish and crab species primarily attributed to their living habits and the higher sediment background values of trace metals. Endpoint bioaccumulation factor(BAFfd) was used to characterize the bioaccumulation potentials of marine organisms to trace metals, of which Cu and Zn were the most accumulated elements. The exposure of trace metals in the cultured organisms was far lower than those in wild marine organisms, which is probably due to the effect of growth dilution. 10β-Elemene-loaded polymeric micelles intensify anti-carcinoma efficacy and alleviate side effects显示文摘β-Elemene is a volatile oil used for the treatment of cancer,but poor solubility,low bioavailability,and various adverse reactions limit its application.For amelio rating risks of the venous toxicity ofβ-elemene,intravenously injectable micelle ofβ-elemene was prepared using the thin-film hydration method.The results pointed out the micelles were uniformly spherical with about 20.96±0.1966 nm in average diameter and exhibited high entrapment efficiency(99.02%±0.88%).As revealed by drug release studies in vitro,β-elemene micelles had sustained drug release.Compared with freeβ-elemene,the micelles increased the drug cellular uptake and enhanced the anti-tumor effect in vitro through retarding cell cycle and inducing apoptosis.Meanwhile,the elevated se rum stability o fβ-elemene micelles implied less drug leakage and reduced toxicity.The wound healing and tube formation assay in vitro demonstrated the anti-metastasis and anti-angiogenesis effects ofβ-elemene micelles.Moreover,the pharmacokinetics study showed the AUC and T1/2 ofβ-elemene in micelle group were 1.79 and 1.62 times of that in free fi-elemene group,suggesting the circulation time ofβ-elemene in the blood had been prolonged.In addition,β-elemene micelles showed a favorable antitumor response compared with theβ-elemene solution on C26 colon cance r-bearing mice model.Local irritation study investigated in rabbits indicated that theβ-elemene micelles strikingly mitigated the irritation to the injection sites compared with freeβ-elemene.These results proved that the micelle could be a good candidate as an auspicious drug delivery system ofβ-elemene for the prospective clinical treatment of carcinoma.Qiaoqiao Hu Lan Bai Zejiang Zhu Zhengying Su Peng Bai Minghai Tang Caixia Dou Junfeng Yan Rongsheng Tong Wuyu Zhang Lijuan Chen Lulu Cai 2020Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,3:2
11Integrated strategies for chemotherapy cycles in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients: Real-world data from two epidemic centers guiding decision-making显示文摘objective:Two cycles of induction chemotherapy(IC)followed by 2 cycles of platinum-based concurrent chemoradiotherapy(CCRT)(2IC+2CCRT)for locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma(LA-NPC)is widely adopted but not evidence-confirmed.This study aimed to determine the clinical value of 2IC+2CCRT regarding efficacy,toxicity and cost-effectiveness.Methods:This real-world study from two epidemic centers used propensity score matching(PSM)and inverse probability of treatment weighting(IPTW)analyses.The enrolled patients were divided into three groups based on treatment modality:Group A(2IC+2CCRT),Group B(3IC+2CCRT or 2IC+3CCRT)and Group C(3IC+3CCRT).Long-term survival,acute toxicities and cost-effectiveness were compared among the groups.We developed a prognostic model dividing the population into high-and low-risk cohorts,and survivals including overall survival(OS),progression-free survival(PFS),distant metastasis-free survival(DMFS)and locoregional relapse-free survival(LRRFS)were compared among the three groups according to certain risk stratifications.Results:Of 4,042 patients,1,175 were enrolled,with 660,419,and 96 included in Groups A,B and C,respectively.Five-year survivals were similar among the three groups after PSM and confirmed by IPTW.Grade 3-4 neutropenia and leukocytopenia were significantly higher in Groups C and B than in Group A(52.1%vs.41.5%vs.25.2%;41.7%vs.32.7%vs.25.0%)as were grade 3-4 nausea/vomiting and oral mucositis(29.2%vs.15.0%vs.6.1%;32.3%vs.25.3%vs.18.0%).Cost-effective analysis suggested that 2IC+2CCRT was the least expensive,while the health benefits were similar to those of the other groups.Further exploration showed that 2IC+2CCRT tended to be associated with a shorter PFS in high-risk patients,while 3IC+3CCRT potentially contributed to poor PFS in low-risk individuals,mainly reflected by LRRFS.Conclusions:In LA-NPC patients,2IC+2CCRT was the optimal choice regarding efficacy,toxicity and costeffectiveness;however,2IC+2CCRT and 3IC+3CCRT probably shortened LRRFS in high-and low-risk populations,respectively.Zejiang Zhan Yingying Huang Jiayu Zhou Zhuochen Cai Haoyang Huang Ying Deng Wenze Qiu Xun Cao Xi Chen Chixiong Liang Lulu Zhang Xiang Guo Taize Yuan Xing Lyu 2023Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2023,35,2:1
12Science with the 2.5-meter Wide Field Survey Telescope(WFST)显示文摘The Wide Field Survey Telescope(WFST) is a dedicated photometric surveying facility being built jointly by University of Science and Technology of China(USTC) and the Purple Mountain Observatory(PMO). It is equipped with a 2.5-meter diameter primary mirror, an active optics system, and a mosaic CCD camera with 0.73 gigapixels on the primary focal plane for highquality image capture over a 6.5-square-degree field of view. The installation of WFST near the summit of Saishiteng mountain in the Lenghu region is scheduled in summer of 2023, and the operation is planned to start three months later. WFST will scan the northern sky in four optical bands(u, g, r and i) at cadences from hourly/daily in the deep high-cadence survey(DHS) program, to semi-weekly in the wide field survey(WFS) program. During a photometric night, a nominal 30 s exposure in the WFS program will reach a depth of 22.27, 23.32, 22.84, and 22.31(AB magnitudes) in these four bands, respectively, allowing for the detection of a tremendous amount of transients in the low-z universe and a systematic investigation of the variability of Galactic and extragalactic objects. In the DHS program, intranight 90 s exposures as deep as 23(u) and 24 mag(g), in combination with target of opportunity follow-ups, will provide a unique opportunity to explore energetic transients in demand for high sensitivities, including the electromagnetic counterparts of gravitational wave events, supernovae within a few hours of their explosions,tidal disruption events and fast, luminous optical transients even beyond redshift of unity. In addition, the final 6-year co-added images, anticipated to reach g■25.8 mag in WFS or 1.5 mags deeper in DHS, will be of fundamental importance to general Galactic and extragalactic science. The highly uniform legacy surveys of WFST will serve as an indispensable complement to those of the Vera C. 13Biomaterial-assisted biotherapy:A brief review of biomaterials used in drug delivery,vaccine development,gene therapy,and stem cell therapy显示文摘Biotherapy has recently become a hotspot research topic with encouraging prospects in various fields due to a wide range of treatments applications,as demonstrated in preclinical and clinical studies.However,the broad applications of biotherapy have been limited by critical challenges,including the lack of safe and efficient de-livery systems and serious side effects.Due to the unique potentials of biomaterials,such as good biocompati-bility and bioactive properties,biomaterial-assisted biotherapy has been demonstrated to be an attractive strategy.The biomaterial-based delivery systems possess sufficient packaging capacity and versatile functions,enabling a sustained and localized release of drugs at the target sites.Furthermore,the biomaterials can provide a niche with specific extracellular conditions for the proliferation,differentiation,attachment,and migration of stem cells,leading to tissue regeneration.In this review,the state-of-the-art studies on the applications of bio-materials in biotherapy,including drug delivery,vaccine development,gene therapy,and stem cell therapy,have been summarized.The challenges and an outlook of biomaterial-assisted biotherapies have also been discussed.Xuejiao Han Aqu Alu Hongmei Liu Yi Shi Xiawei Wei Lulu Cai Yuquan Wei 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,11:1
14Distribution Prediction of Middle-deep Lacustrine Source Rocks in Eocene Wenchang Formation in the Kaiping Sag,Pearl Mouth Basin显示文摘Oil and gas shows are rich in drilling wells in Kaiping sag,however,large oilfield was still not found in this area.For a long time,it is thought that source rocks were developed in the middle-deep lacustrine facies in the Eocene Wenchang Formation,while there is no source rocks that in middle-deep lacustrine facies have been found in well.Thickness of Wenchang Formation is big and reservoirs with good properties could be found in this formation.Distribution and scale of source rock are significant for further direction of petroleum exploration.Distribution characterization of middle-deep lacustrine facies is the base for source rock research.Based on the sedimentary background,fault activity rate,seismic response features,and seismic attributes were analyzed.No limited classification method and multi-attributes neural network deep learning method were used for predicting of source rock distribution in Wenchang Formation.It is found that during the deposition of lower Wenchang Formation,activity rate of main fault controlling the sub sag sedimentation was bigger than 100 m/Ma,which formed development background for middle-deep lacustrine facies.Compared with the seismic response of middle-deep lacustrine source rocks developed in Zhu I depression,those in Kaiping sag are characterized in low frequency and good continuity.Through RGB frequency decomposition,areas with low frequency are main distribution parts for middle-deep lacustrine facies.Dominant frequency,instantaneous frequency,and coherency attributes of seismic could be used in no limited classification method for further identification of middle-deep lacustrine facies.Based on the limitation of geology knowledge,multi-attributes of seismic were analyzed through neural network deep learning method.Distribution of middle-deep lacustrine facies in the fourth member of Wenchang Formation is oriented from west to east and is the largest.Square of the middle-deep lacustrine facies in that member is 154 km^(2)and the volume is 50 km^(3).Achievements could be bases for hydrocarbon accumulation study and for exploration target optimization in Kaiping sag.XIONG Lianqiao XIE Xiaojun ZHAO Zhao ZHANG Chunyu WANG Long LIAO Jihua CAI Lulu XU Wei 2021Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2021,95,1:1
15Drug-induced hierarchical self-assembly of poly(amino acid)for efficient intracellular drug delivery显示文摘As a potent anticancer drug,gambogic acid(GA)suffers from its poor water solubility and low chemical stability and shows a limited clinical outcome.To address this problem,we report here a simple and effective strategy to immobilize and deliver GA using a reducible diblock poly(amino acid)as a model.The electrostatic interaction between GA and polymer enables a high drug loading content up to 53.6%.Moreover,the drug complexation induces a micelle-to-vesicle transformation,combined with a conformation tra nsition from random coil to a-helix.The hierarchically assembled drug nanocomplexes can serve as a smart carrier for efficient cell internalization and triggered release of multiple drugs under intracellular acidic and reductive conditions,resulting in a synergistic antitumor efficacy in vitro.This work provides a new insight into the drug-carrier interaction and a facile nanoplatform for drug delivery applications.Zifen Li Yanxue Yang Chuan Peng Hang Liu Rui Yang Yi Zheng Lulu Cai Hong Tan Qiang Fu Mingming Ding 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,4:1
16Ball milling pretreatment of corn straw and Pediococcus acidilactici fermentation for non‑ruminant diet显示文摘A new strategy was proposed to improve the utilization rate of corn straw by making non-ruminant feed products.The corn straw was ball milled,and the crushed straw was subjected to solid-state fermentation.After ball milling,the particle size of corn straw decreased signifcantly from 4.85±0.07 cm to 10–100μm,the content of neutral detergent fber and acid detergent fber decreased by 1.3%and 3.5%,respectively,and the total soluble sugar content increased by 16.2 mg/g.At the same time,the straw treated by ball milling as substrate could promote the rapid growth of Pediococcus acidilactici R30,the increase of organic acid production and further improvement of other nutrients during solid-state fermentation.In conclusion,the fermented straw products after ball milling could signifcantly improve the performance of pig feed in terms of digestibility and nutritional value,and better meet the feed needs of non-ruminant animals while saving resources.Dianhui Wu Wenzhe Li Beibei Chu Lulu Wang Xiaomin Li Guolin Cai Jian Lu 2022Systems Microbiology and Biomanufacturing2022,2,2:1
17Combination of ultrasonication/mechanical refining with alkali treatment to improve the accessibility and porosity of bamboo cellulose fibers for the preparation of magnetic bionanocomposite cellulose beads显示文摘Ultrasonication and mechanical refining pretreatments were carried out to enhance alkali swelling of bamboo fibers to improve accessibility and porosity.Cellulose-based magnetic beads were synthesized with the alkali swollen bamboo fibers and Fe3O4 nanoparticles.Compared to the fibers treated with alkali alone,the water retention value(WRV)increased by 33.87%for the fibers treated by sonication and alkali,and by 94.58%for those treated by mechanical refining and alkali.The increased WRV was attributed to disruption of the crystalline region of fibers in the combined treatments which resulted in decreased crystallinity and degree of polymerization of cellulose.Furthermore,compared with the control sample which was treated by alkali alone,the specific surface area and pore volume of the samples treated by the combined processes increased markedly,which favored the adsorption of Fe3O4 nanoparticles in the synthesis of functional magnetic cellulose beads for the applications of protein immobilization,drug carrier and wastewater treatment.Man Li Guigan Fang Zhaosheng Cai Long Liang Jing Zhou Lulu Wei 2018Journal of Bioresources and Bioproducts2018,3,2:0

19AcWRKY28 mediated activation of AcCPK genes confers salt tolerance in pineapple(Ananas comosus)显示文摘Unfavorable environmental cues severely affect crop productivity resulting in significant economic losses to farmers. In plants, multiple regulatory genes, such as the WRKY transcription factor (TF) family, modulate the expression of defense genes. However, the role of the pineapple WRKY genes is poorly understood. Here, we studied the pineapple WRKY gene, AcWRKY28, by generating AcWRKY28 over-expressing transgenic pineapple plants. Overexpression of AcWRKY28 enhanced the salt stress resistance in transgenic pineapple lines. Comparative transcriptome analysis of transgenic and wild-type pineapple plants showed that “plant-pathogen interaction” pathway genes, including 9calcium-dependent protein kinases (CPKs), were up-regulated in AcWRKY28 over-expressing plants. Furthermore, chromatin immunoprecipitation and yeast one-hybrid assays revealed AcCPK12, AcCPK3, AcCPK8, AcCPK1, and AcCPK15 as direct targets of AcWRKY28. Consistently, the study of AcCPK12 over-expressing Arabidopsis lines showed that AcCPK12 enhances salt, drought, and disease resistance.
