| 1 | Activity of Recombinant Human Interleukin-15 against Tumor Recurrence and Metastasis in Mice显示文摘Transplantable experimental tumor models were constructed to study the activities of recombinant human interleukin-15 (rhIL-15) against tumor recurrence and metastasis. The results showed that tumor nodule formation was retarded and tumor growth was inhibited in the subcutaneous tumor model of LA795 lung adenocarcinoma after treatment with rhIL-15, and the survival rate of T739 tumor-bearing mice treated with rhIL-15 was much higher than that of mice treated with either saline or with the same dose of rhIL-2. This indicats that rhIL-15 had better antitumor effect than rhIL-2 at the same dose level. In some rhIL-15 treated mice, the tumor cells inoculated subcutaneously were eradicated and there was no tumor formation even 138 days after tumor cell inoculation. The tumor-free mice were rechallenged with live tumor cells and no tumor reoccurred in the following two months in all of these mice, indicating that long-lasting antitumor systemic immunity developed. It was also shown that tumor recurrence and metastasis were inhibited markedly after treatment with rhIL-15, but not with the same dose of rhIL-2, in both subcutaneously and intravenously disseminated tumor models of LA795 lung adenocarcinoma. Simultaneously, the CTL and NK cell activities of the splenocytes obtained from tumor-bearing mice that had been treated with either rhIL-15 or rhIL-2 were both markedly enhanced. However, the enhancement of CTL and NK cell activities was more significant in rhIL-15 treated mice than that in rhIL-2 treated mice. | 2 | High performance streaked X-ray spectrometer for research of laser-produced plasmas显示文摘In order to mitigate the effect of the strong electromagnetic pulse, which produces laser-plasma interactions, we designed a new streaked X-ray spectrometer (SXS) enclosed within a well-sealed, electromag- netic interference-free cavity. The SXS can cover a wide selection of spectral windows using interchangeable Bragg crystals and by appropriate adjustment of the Bragg angle. The SXS has been used to observe time-re- solved X-ray spectrum in the 2.5 keV to 3.5 keV photon-energy range, resulting in a demonstrated spectral res- olution of about 13 at 2960 eV with a time resolution of 10 ps. | 3 | Neuroprotective effects of ProBeptigen/CMI-168 on aging-induced cognitive decline and neuroinflammation in mice:a comparison with essence of chicken显示文摘Neuroinflammation and cognitive decline are the key pathological features in aging that bring detrimental impacts upon quality of life.However,there is no effective anti-aging pharmacological therapy thus far.Dietary supplements in particular essence of chicken(EC)has been found to be an effective remedy for alleviating mental stress and improving memory.In addition,a novel hydrolyzed chicken extract,ProBeptigen/CMI-168(PB),showed beneficial effects on cognitive ability.However,the antiaging effect and possible mechanism of PB and EC are still unknown.Here,we investigated the antiaging effects of PB and EC on hippocampus-related cognitive decline and neuroinflammation in aged mice.PB and EC were administered for 16 weeks in 10-month-old mice.Both PB and EC treatments ameliorated age-related deterioration of learning and memory,and attenuated oxidative stress and inflammation in the hippocampus.These results were associated with decreased inflammatory cytokine levels and increased neurotransmitter levels in the hippocampus.The overall effects of improving aging-induced cognitive decline were more robust in PB-treated mice,while EC was effective in decreasing oxidative stress and inflammation.Moreover,alterations in the diversity and composition of the gut microbiota in aged mice were also regulated by both PB and EC,which induced distinguished features in the gut microbiota and their related functions.This study showed that PB exerts neuroprotective effects in aged mice,the mechanism of which might be different from that of EC.Therefore,PB has a potential as dietary supplement for ameliorating cognitive dysfunction and neuroinflammation in elderly individuals. | Yinhua Ni Liyang Ni Lingyan Ma Zhe Wang Yufeng Zhao Luting Hu Liujie Zheng Zhengwei Fu | 2021 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2021,53,4: | 0 |
| 4 | Analysis-Aware Modelling of Spacial Curve for Isogeometric Analysis of Timoshenko Beam显示文摘Geometric fitting based on discrete points to establish curve structures is an important problem in numerical modeling.The purpose of this paper is to investigate the geometric fitting method for curved beam structure from points,and to get high-quality parametric model for isogeometric analysis.ATimoshenko beam element is established for an initially curved spacial beam with arbitrary curvature.The approximation and interpolation methods to get parametric models of curves from given points are examined,and three strategies of parameterization,meaning the equally spaced method,the chord length method and the centripetal method are considered.The influences of the different geometric approximation algorithms on the precision of isogeometric analysis are examined.The static analysis and the modal analysis with the established parametric models are carried out.Three examples with different complexities,the quarter arc curved beam,the Tschirnhausen beam and the Archimedes spiral beam are examined.The results show that for the geometric approximation the interpolation method performs good and maintains high precision.The fitting algorithms are able to provide parametric models for isogeometric analysis of spacial beam with Timoshenko model.The equally spaced method and centripetal method perform better than the chord length method for the algorithm to carry out the parameterization for the sampling points. | Yang Xia Luting Deng Jian Zhao | 2020 | Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2020,,8: | 0 |
| 5 | The effect of urbanization and exposure to multiple environmental factors on life-history traits and breeding success of Barn Swallows(Hirundo rustica)across China显示文摘In addition to landscape changes,urbanization also brings about changes in environmental factors that can affect wildlife.Despite the common referral in the published literature to multiple environmental factors such as light and noise pollution,there is a gap in knowledge about their combined impact.We developed a multidimensional environmental framework to assess the effect of urbanization and multiple environmental factors(light,noise,and temperature)on life-history traits and breeding success of Barn Swallows(Hirundo rustica)across rural to urban gradients in four locations spanning over 2500 km from North to South China.Over a single breeding season,we measured these environmental factors nearby nests and quantified landscape urbanization over a 1km~2radius.We then analysed the relationships between these multiple environmental factors through a principal component analysis and conducted spatially explicit linear-mixed effects models to assess their effect on lifehistory traits and breeding success.We were particularly interested in understanding whether and how Barn Swallows were able to adapt to such environmental conditions associated with urbanization.The results show that there is significant variation in the exposure to environmental conditions experienced by Barn Swallows breeding across urbanization gradients in China.These changes and their effects are complex due to the behavioural responses ameliorating potential negative effects by selecting nesting sites that minimize exposure to environmental factors.However,significant relationships between landscape urbanization,exposure to environmental factors,and life-history traits such as laying date and clutch size were pervasive.Still,the impact on breeding success was,at least in our sample,negligible,suggesting that Barn Swallows are extremely adaptable to a wide range of environmental features. | Yanyan Zhao Emilio Pagani-Nú~nez Yu Liu Xiaoying Xing Zhiqiang Zhang Guangji Pan Luting Song Xiang Li Zhuoya Zhou Yanqiu Chen Donglai Li Yang Liu Rebecca J.Safran | 2022 | Avian Research2022,13,3: | 0 |
