1Crashworthiness Design and Multi-Objective Optimization for Bio-Inspired Hierarchical Thin-Walled Structures显示文摘Thin-walled structures have been used in many fields due to their superior mechanical properties.In this paper,two types of hierarchical multi-cell tubes,inspired by the self-similarity of Pinus sylvestris,are proposed to enhance structural energy absorption performance.The finite element models of the hierarchical structures are established to validate the crashworthiness performance under axial dynamic load.The theoreticalmodel of themean crushing force is also derived based on the simplified super folded element theory.The finite element results demonstrate that the energy absorption characteristics and deformation mode of the bionic hierarchical thin-walled tubes are further improved with the increase of hierarchical sub-structures.It can be also obtained that the energy absorption performance of corner self-similar tubes is better than edge self-similar tubes.Furthermore,multiobjective optimization of the hierarchical tubes is constructed by employing the response surface method and genetic algorithm,and the corresponding Pareto front diagram is obtained.This research provides a new idea for the crashworthiness design of thin-walled structures.Shaoqiang Xu Weiwei Li Lin Li Tao Li Chicheng Ma 2022Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2022,,5:1

3Axial control for nonlinear resonances of electrostatically actuated nanobeam with graphene sensor显示文摘The nonlinear resonance response of an electrostatically actuated nanobeam is studied over the near-half natural frequency with an axial capacitor controller. A graphene sensor deformed by the vibrations of the nanobeam is used to produce the voltage signal.The voltage of the vibration graphene sensor is used as a control signal input to a closedloop circuit to mitigate the nonlinear vibration of the nanobeam. An axial control force produced by the axial capacitor controller can transform the frequency-amplitude curves from nonlinear to linear. The necessary and sufficient conditions for guaranteeing the system stability and a saddle-node bifurcation are studied. The numerical simulations are conducted for uniform nanobeams. The nonlinear terms of the vibration system can be transformed into linear ones by applying the critical control voltage to the system. 4Structural Damage Identification System Suitable for Old Arch Bridge in Rural Regions: Random Forest Approach显示文摘A huge number of old arch bridges located in rural regions are at the peak of maintenance.The health monitoring technology of the long-span bridge is hardly applicable to the small-span bridge,owing to the absence of technical resources and sufficient funds in rural regions.There is an urgent need for an economical,fast,and accurate damage identification solution.The authors proposed a damage identification system of an old arch bridge implemented with amachine learning algorithm,which took the vehicle-induced response as the excitation.A damage index was defined based on wavelet packet theory,and a machine learning sample database collecting the denoised response was constructed.Through comparing three machine learning algorithms:Back-Propagation Neural Network(BPNN),Support Vector Machine(SVM),and Random Forest(R.F.),the R.F.damage identification model were found to have a better recognition ability.Finally,the Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO)algorithm was used to optimize the number of subtrees and split features of the R.F.model.The PSO optimized R.F.model was capable of the identification of different damage levels of old arch bridges with sensitive damage index.The proposed framework is practical and promising for the old bridge’s structural damage identification in rural regions.Yu Zhang Zhihua Xiong Zhuoxi Liang Jiachen She Chicheng Ma 2023Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2023,,7:1
