1Altered trends in carbon uptake in China’s terrestrial ecosystems under the enhanced summer monsoon and warming hiatus显示文摘The carbon budgets in terrestrial ecosystems in China are strongly coupled with climate changes.Over the past decade,China has experienced dramatic climate changes characterized by enhanced summer monsoon and decelerated warming.However,the changes in the trends of terrestrial net ecosystem production(NEP)in China under climate changes are not well documented.Here,we used three ecosystem models to simulate the spatiotemporal variations in China's NEP during 1982–2010 and quantify the contribution of the strengthened summer monsoon and warming hiatus to the NEP variations in four distinct climatic regions of the country.Our results revealed a decadal-scale shift in NEP from a downtrend of–5.95 Tg C/yr^2(reduced sink)during 1982–2000 to an uptrend of 14.22 Tg C/yr^2(enhanced sink)during 2000–10.This shift was essentially induced by the strengthened summer monsoon,which stimulated carbon uptake,and the warming hiatus,which lessened the decrease in the NEP trend.Compared to the contribution of 56.3%by the climate effect,atmospheric CO2 concentration and nitrogen deposition had relatively small contributions(8.6 and 11.3%,respectively)to the shift.In conclusion,within the context of the global-warming hiatus,the strengthening of the summer monsoon is a critical climate factor that enhances carbon uptake in China due to the asymmetric response of photosynthesis and respiration.Our study not only revealed the shift in ecosystem carbon sequestration in China in recent decades,but also provides some insight for understanding ecosystem carbon dynamics in other monsoonal areas.Honglin He Shaoqiang Wang Li Zhang Junbang Wang Xiaoli Ren Lei Zhou Shilong Piao Hao Yan Weimin Ju Fengxue Gu Shiyong Yu Yuanhe Yang Miaomiao Wang Zhongen Niu Rcmg Ge Huimin Yan Mei Huang Guoyi Zhou Yongfei Bai Zongqiang Xie Zhiyao Tang Bingfang Wu Leiming Zhang Nianpeng He Qiufeng Wang Guirui Yu 2019National Science Review2019,6,3:24
2A de novo Genome of a Chinese Radish Cultivar显示文摘Here, we report a high-quality draft genome of a Chinese radish(Raphanus sativus) cultivar. This draft contains 387.73 Mb of assembled scaffolds, 83.93% of the scaffolds were anchored onto nine pseudochromosomes and 95.09% of 43 240 protein-coding genes were functionally annotated. 184.75 Mb(47.65%) of repeat sequences was identified in the assembled genome. By comparative analyses of the radish genome against 10 other plant genomes, 2 275 genes in 780 gene families were found unique to R. sativus. 3A naturally occurring variation in the BrMAM-3 gene is associated with aliphatic glucosinolate accumulation in Brassica rapa leaves显示文摘Glucosinolate profiles significantly vary among Brassica rapa genotypes.However,the molecular basis of these variations is largely unknown.In this study,we investigated a major quantitative trait locus(QTL)controlling aliphatic glucosinolate accumulation in B.rapa leaves.The QTL,which encompasses three tandem MAM genes and two MYB genes,was detected in two BC2DH populations.Among the five-candidate genes,only the expression level of BrMAM-3(Bra013007)was significantly correlated with the accumulation of aliphatic glucosinolates in B.rapa leaves.We identified a naturally occurring insertion within exon 1 of BrMAM-3,which is predicted to be a loss-of-function mutation,as confirmed by qRT-PCR.We determined that the loss of function was associated with the low glucosinolate content in B.rapa accessions.Furthermore,overexpressing the BrMAM-3 gene resulted in an increase in total aliphatic glucosinolates in Arabidopsis transgenic lines.Our study provides insights into the molecular mechanism underlying the accumulation of aliphatic glucosinolates in B.rapa leaves,thereby facilitating in the manipulation of total aliphatic glucosinolate content in Brassica crops.Jifang Zhang Hui Wang Zhiyuan Liu Jianli Liang Jian Wu Feng Cheng Shiyong Mei Xiaowu Wang 2018Horticulture Research2018,5,1:5

7KREEP-rich breccia in Chang'E-5 regolith and its implications显示文摘Lunar breccias provide crucial insights into the lithological diversity,shock processing and evolution of the lunar crust.Here,we report a unique regolith breccia(CE5C0000YJYX070GP,hereafter CE5C)returned from the Chang'E-5(CE-5)mission.CE5C is one of the largest CE-5 breccias with a wide variety of lithologies,dominated by basaltic and mineral fragments as well as impact-melted clasts(including mid-Ti glasses,high-Al glasses,and crystal-bearing impact melt clasts).A comprehensive study of petrology and mineralogy on several representative clasts was conducted by integrating Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM),Tescan Integrated Mineral Analysis(TIMA),Electron Probe Microanalysis(EPMA)and Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry(LA-ICP-MS)techniques.Evidence is sufficient that CE5C is a mixed mare-highland regolith breccia,with a high percentage of KREEPy material(>20 vol.%),which has not been previously reported in other CE-5 samples.The mid-Ti impact glasses are characterized by high FeO(24.0 wt.%)and intermediate TiO_(2)(5.5 wt.%)contents,while the high-Al impact glasses have a chemical composition compatible with KREEP.Integrated with the regional geological context of the CE-5 landing site,we propose that CE5C is likely derived from a mixed region between the P58/Em4 mare unit and its contiguous eastern highlands.Despite the difficulty in assessing the representativeness of CE5C,the substantial presence of KREEPy material may provide valuable clues to the provenance of exotic ejecta,including the identification of unrecognized source craters situated in the eastern periphery of the sampling unit.Aoxin MEI Yun JIANG Shiyong LIAO Jinting KANG Fang HUANG Weibiao HSU 2023Science China Earth Sciences2023,66,11:0
