1Altered trends in carbon uptake in China’s terrestrial ecosystems under the enhanced summer monsoon and warming hiatus显示文摘The carbon budgets in terrestrial ecosystems in China are strongly coupled with climate changes.Over the past decade,China has experienced dramatic climate changes characterized by enhanced summer monsoon and decelerated warming.However,the changes in the trends of terrestrial net ecosystem production(NEP)in China under climate changes are not well documented.Here,we used three ecosystem models to simulate the spatiotemporal variations in China's NEP during 1982–2010 and quantify the contribution of the strengthened summer monsoon and warming hiatus to the NEP variations in four distinct climatic regions of the country.Our results revealed a decadal-scale shift in NEP from a downtrend of–5.95 Tg C/yr^2(reduced sink)during 1982–2000 to an uptrend of 14.22 Tg C/yr^2(enhanced sink)during 2000–10.This shift was essentially induced by the strengthened summer monsoon,which stimulated carbon uptake,and the warming hiatus,which lessened the decrease in the NEP trend.Compared to the contribution of 56.3%by the climate effect,atmospheric CO2 concentration and nitrogen deposition had relatively small contributions(8.6 and 11.3%,respectively)to the shift.In conclusion,within the context of the global-warming hiatus,the strengthening of the summer monsoon is a critical climate factor that enhances carbon uptake in China due to the asymmetric response of photosynthesis and respiration.Our study not only revealed the shift in ecosystem carbon sequestration in China in recent decades,but also provides some insight for understanding ecosystem carbon dynamics in other monsoonal areas.Honglin He Shaoqiang Wang Li Zhang Junbang Wang Xiaoli Ren Lei Zhou Shilong Piao Hao Yan Weimin Ju Fengxue Gu Shiyong Yu Yuanhe Yang Miaomiao Wang Zhongen Niu Rcmg Ge Huimin Yan Mei Huang Guoyi Zhou Yongfei Bai Zongqiang Xie Zhiyao Tang Bingfang Wu Leiming Zhang Nianpeng He Qiufeng Wang Guirui Yu 2019National Science Review2019,6,3:24
2Analysis of net primary productivity of terrestrial vegetation on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,based on MODIS remote sensing data显示文摘GLO-PEM is driven by soil moisture data of AMSR-E and PAR(Photosynthetically active radiation) which is retrieved from MODIS atmospheric data product in this paper.Using remote sensing data can overcome uncertainty brought from interpola-tion of precipitation and PAR.Comparing with observed radiation data,PAR retrieved by remote sensing is in high accuracy in this study.RMSE is 9 and 19.68 W m 2 and R2 is 0.89 and 0.67 respectively.As a result of GLO-PEM,annual total amount of NPP of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is 0.37 Pg C a-1 in 2005 2008.There is a significant linear relationship between field and simu-lated NPP.Determination coefficient reached 0.93.NPP is decrease from southeast to northwest in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.NPP changes from 0 to 1500 g C m-2 a-1.There is different limit factors of vegetation growth in west and east plateau.In the west of 450 mm rainfall line,the limit factors is precipitation.In the east of 450 mm rainfall line,temperature is the dominated factor of vegetation growth.CHEN ZhuoQi SHAO QuanQin LIU JiYuan WANG JunBang 2012Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,8:12
3Modeling the radiation balance of different urban underlying surfaces显示文摘An urban net all-wave radiation parameterization scheme is evaluated using annual datasets for 2010 recorded at a Beijing urban observation site.The statistical relationship between observed data and simulation data of net radiation has a correlation coefficient of 0.98 and model efficiency of 0.93.Therefore,it can be used to simulate the radiation balance of Beijing.This study analyzes the variation in the radiation balance for different underlying surfaces.To simulate radiation balance differences,we set four pure land-cover types(forest,grass,roads,and buildings).Keeping all other conditions inputted unchanged,we model the radiation balance by changing the land-cover type.The results show that the effects of different underlying surfaces on radiation differ,and that there is much upward long-wave radiation,accounting for 84.3% of the total radiation energy falling incident on the land surface.The annual averages of net radiation for the four land-cover types are in the range of 38.2-53.4 W/m2.The net radiation of the grass surface is minimal while that of the roads surface is maximal.Additionally,with urbanization the net radiation values of common types of land-cover change,such as conversion from forest to roads,grass to roads,and grass to buildings,all have increasing trends,indicating that net radiation usually increases with urban sprawl.CUI YaoPing LIU JiYuan HU YunFeng WANG JunBang KUANG WenHui 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,9:9
4Variations of Vegetation Phenology Extracted from Remote Sensing Data over the Tibetan Plateau Hinterland during 2000–2014显示文摘How vegetation phenology responds to climate change is a key to the understanding of the mechanisms driving historic and future changes in regional terrestrial ecosystem productivity. Based on the 250-m and 8-day moderate resolution imaging spectroradiometer(MODIS) normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI) data for 2000-2014 in the Three-River Source Region(TRSR) of Qinghai Province, China, i.e., the hinterland of the Tibetan Plateau, we extracted relevant vegetation phenological information(e.g., start, end, and length of growing season) and analyzed the changes in the TRSR vegetation in response to climate change. The results reveal that, under the increasingly warm and humid climate, the start of vegetation growing season(SOS) advanced 1.03 day yr-1 while the end of vegetation growing season(EOS) exhibited no significant changes, which led to extended growing season length. It is found that the SOS was greatly affected by the preceding winter precipitation, with progressively enhanced precipitation facilitating an earlier SOS. Moreover, as the variations of SOS and its trend depended strongly on topography, we estimated the elevation break-points for SOS. The lower the elevations were, the earlier the SOS started. In the areas below 3095-m elevation, the SOS delay changed rapidly with increasing elevation;whereas above that, the SOS changes were relatively minor. 6Response of Growing Season Gross Primary Production to El Nino in Different Phases of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation over Eastern China Based on Bayesian Model Averaging显示文摘Gross primary production(GPP) plays a crucial part in the carbon cycle of terrestrial ecosystems.A set of validated monthly GPP data from 1957 to 2010 in 0.5°× 0.5° grids of China was weighted from the Multi-scale Terrestrial Model Intercomparison Project using Bayesian model averaging(BMA).The spatial anomalies of detrended BMA GPP during the growing seasons of typical El Nino years indicated that GPP response to El Nino varies with Pacific Decadal Oscillation(PDO) phases: when the PDO was in the cool phase,it was likely that GPP was greater in northern China(32°–38°N,111°–122°E) and less in the Yangtze River valley(28°–32°N,111°–122°E);in contrast,when PDO was in the warm phase,the GPP anomalies were usually reversed in these two regions.The consistent spatiotemporal pattern and high partial correlation revealed that rainfall dominated this phenomenon.The previously published findings on how El Nino during different phases of PDO affecting rainfall in eastern China make the statistical relationship between GPP and El Nino in this study theoretically credible.This paper not only introduces an effective way to use BMA in grids that have mixed plant function types,but also makes it possible to evaluate the carbon cycle in eastern China based on the prediction of El Nino and PDO.Yueyue LI Li DAN Jing PENG Junbang WANG Fuqiang YANG Dongdong GAO Xiujing YANG Qiang YU 2021Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2021,38,9:2

9The role of herbivores in the grassland carbon budget for Three-Rivers Headwaters region,Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau,China显示文摘Background:An accurate assessment of the carbon budget is a crucial part of projecting future climate change and its impact on ecosystems.Grasslands foster multiple ecological functions including support for wild animals and livestocks.Herbivores intake forage biomass carbon,then digest and metabolize,and finally retain some carbon.The carbon processes have not been well quantified,resulting in uncertainties in the estimation of regional carbon budgets for grassland ecosystems.Methods:An animal metabolic carbon flux model was developed for herbivores in the Three-Rivers Headwaters region of China.The forage intake and metabolic carbon rates were estimated through metabolic body weight and daily digested measures for the main herbivore species.Results:The carbon intake was 5.52 Tg C year−1(45%)from partial aboveground biomass(12.2 Tg C year−1),in which 39.31%was released into the atmosphere by respiration CO_(2),43.77%was returned to the ecosystem as feces and urine,and 16.96%was retained in herbivores for population regeneration or for human well-being.Conclusions:This study,as the first research on this topic,quantified the carbon flux of herbivores and found livestock accounts for a major part of consumed carbon on grasslands,which is important for understanding regional carbon budgets to mitigate and adapt to climate change over grasslands worldwide.Junbang Wang Xinquan Zhao Xihuang Ouyang Liang Zhao Wenying Wang Chan Zuo Zhenhua Zhang Huakun Zhou Alan Watson Yingnian Li 2022Grassland Research2022,1,3:1
10Drought Impacts on Vegetation Indices and Productivity of Terrestrial Ecosystems in Southwestern China During 2001–2012显示文摘Drought, as a recurring extreme climate event, affects the structure, function, and process of terrestrial ecosystems. Despite the increasing occurrence and intensity of the drought in the past decade in Southwestern China, the impacts of continuous drought events on vegetation in this region remain unclear. During 2001–2012, Southwestern China experienced the severe drought events from 2009 to 2011. Our aim is to characterize drought conditions in the Southwestern China and explore the impacts on the vegetation condition and terrestrial ecosystem productivity. The Standardized Precipitation Index(SPI) was used to characterize drought area and intensity and a light-use efficiency model was used to explore the effect of drought on the terrestrial ecosystem productivity with Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrometer(MODIS) data. The SPI captured the major drought events in Southwestern China during the study period, indicated that the 12-year period of this study included both ‘normal' precipitation years and two severe drought events in 2009–2010 and 2011. Results showed that vegetation greenness(Normalized Difference Vegetation Index, NDVI and Enhanced Vegetation Index, EVI) both declined in 2009/2010 drought, but the 2011 drought resulted in less declines of vegetation greenness and productivity due to shorten drought duration and rising temperature. Meanwhile, it was about 5 months lapse between drought events and maximum declines in vegetation greenness for 2009/2010 drought events. In addition, forest, grassland and cropland revealed significant different ecosystem responses to drought. It indicated that grassland showed an early sensitivity to drought, while cropland was the most sensitive to water deficit and forest was more resilient to drought. 12Different sites of extranodal involvement may affect the survival of patients with relapsed or refractory non-Hodgkin lymphoma after chimeric antigen receptor T cell therapy显示文摘Factors associated with complete and durable remissions after anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor T(CAR-T)cell immunotherapy for relapsed or refractory non-Hodgkin lymphoma(r/r NHL)have not been well characterized.In this study,we found that the different sites of extranodal involvement may affect response,overall survival(OS),and progression-free survival(PFS)in patients with r/r NHL treated with anti-CD19 CAR-T cells.In a cohort of 32 treated patients,12(37.5%)and 8(25%)patients exhibited soft tissue lymphoma and bone marrow(BM)infiltrations,respectively,and 13(41%)patients exhibited infiltration at other sites.The factors that may affect prognosis were identified through multivariable analysis.As an independent risk factor,soft tissue infiltration was the only factor significantly correlated with adverse prognosis(P<0.05),whereas other factors did not reach statistical significance.Furthermore,the site of extranodal tumor infiltration significantly and negatively affected OS and PFS in patients with r/r NHL treated with anti-CD19 CAR-T cell therapy.PFS and OS in patients with BM involvement were not significantly different from those of patients with lymph node involvement alone.Thus,anti-CD19 CAR-T cell therapy may improve the prognosis of patients with BM infiltration.Lili Zhou Ping Li Shiguang Ye Xiaochen Tang Junbang Wang Jie Liu Aibin Liang 2020Frontiers of Medicine2020,14,6:0
13Chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy: a promising treatment modality for relapsed/refractory mantle cell lymphoma显示文摘Mantle cell lymphoma(MCL)is a distinct histological type of B-cell lymphoma with a poor prognosis.Several agents,such as proteasome inhibitors,immunomodulatory drugs,and inhibitors of B cell lymphoma-2 and Bruton’s tyrosine kinase have shown efficacy for relapsed or refractory(r/r)MCL but often have short-term responses.Chimeric antigen receptor(CAR)T-cell therapy has emerged as a novel treatment modality for r/r non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.However,long-term safety and tolerability associated with CAR T-cell therapy are not defined well,especially in MCL.In this report,we described a 70-year-old patient with r/r MCL with 48-month duration of follow-up who achieved long-term remission after CAR T-cell therapy.CAR T-cell-related toxicities were also mild and tolerated well even in this elderly patient.This report suggested that CAR T-cell therapy is a promising treatment modality for patients with MCL,who are generally elderly and have comorbid conditions.Ping Li Ningxin Dong Yu Zeng Jie Liu Xiaochen Tang Junbang Wang Wenjun Zhang Shiguang Ye Lili Zhou Alex Hongsheng Chang Aibin Liang 2020Frontiers of Medicine2020,14,6:0
