1Curcumin protects against ischemic spinal cord injury The pathway effect显示文摘Inducible nitric oxide synthase and N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors have been shown to participate in nerve cell injury during spinal cord ischemia.This study observed a protective effect of curcumin on ischemic spinal cord injury.Models of spinal cord ischemia were established by ligating the lumbar artery from the left renal artery to the bifurcation of the abdominal aorta.At 24 hours after model establishment,the rats were intraperitoneally injected with curcumin.Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemical results demonstrated that after spinal cord ischemia,inducible nitric oxide synthase and N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor mRNA and protein expression significantly increased.However,curcumin significantly decreased inducible nitric oxide synthase and N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor mRNA and protein expression in the ischemic spinal cord.Tarlov scale results showed that curcumin significantly improved motor function of the rat hind limb after spinal cord ischemia.The results demonstrate that curcumin exerts a neuroprotective effect against ischemic spinal cord injury by decreasing inducible nitric oxide synthase and N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor expression.Jinhua Zhang Hao Wei Meimei Lin Chunmei Chen Chunhua Wang Maobai Liu 2013Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,36:9
2Low complexity asymptotically unitary algorithm for hybrid beamforming in mmWave communication systems显示文摘In millimeter wave(mmWave) massive multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) systems, because of the high hardware cost and high power consumption, the traditional fully digital beamforming(DBF) cannot be implemented easily. Meanwhile, analog beamforming which is implemented with phase shifters has high availability but suffers poor performance. Considering the advantages of above two, a potential solution is to design an appropriate hybrid analog and digital beamforming structure, where the available iterative optimization algorithm can get performance close to fully digital processing, but solving this sparse optimization problem faces with a high computational complexity. The key challenge of seeking out hybrid beamforming(HBF) matrices lies in leveraging the trade-off between the spectral efficiency performance and the computational complexity. In this paper, we propose an asymptotically unitary hybrid precoding(AUHP) algorithm based on antenna array response(AAR) properties to solve the HBF optimization problem. Firstly, we get the optimal orthogonal analog and digital beamforming matrices relying on the channel's path gain in absolute value by taking into account that the AAR matrices are asymptotically unitary. Then, an improved simultaneously orthogonal matching pursuit(SOMP) algorithm based on recursion is adopted to refine the hybrid combining. 5Antibacterial mechanism of kojic acid and tea polyphenols against Escherichia coli O157:H7 through transcriptomic analysis显示文摘Escherichia coli O157:H7 is one of the major foodborne pathogenic bacterial that cause infectious diseases in humans.The previous found that a combination of kojic acid and tea polyphenols exhibited better activity against E.coli O157:H7 than using either alone.This study aimed to explore responses underlying the antibacterial mechanisms of kojic acid and tea polyphenols from the gene level.The functional enrichment analysis by comparing kojic acid and tea polyphenols individually or synergistically against E.coli O157:H7 found that acid resistance systems in kojic acid were activated,and the cell membrane and genomic DNA were destructed in the cells,resulting in“oxygen starvation”.The oxidative stress response triggered by tea polyphenols inhibited both sulfur uptake and the synthesis of ATP,which affected the bacteria's life metabolic process.Interestingly,we found that kojic acid combined with tea polyphenols hindered the uptake of iron that played an essential role in the synthesis of DNA,respiration,tricarboxylic acid cycle.The results suggested that the iron uptake pathways may represent a novel approach for kojic acid and tea polyphenols synergistically against E.coli O157:H7 and provided a theoretical basis for bacterial pathogen control in the food industry.Yilin Lin Ruifei Wang Xiaoqing Li Keren Agyekumwaa Addo Meimei Fang Yehui Zhang Yigang Yu 2024Food Science and Human Wellness2024,13,2:1
6Gram-Schmidt based hybrid beamforming for mm Wave MIMO systems显示文摘Due to the high cost and power consumption of the radio frequency(RF) chains, it is difficult to implement the full digital beamforming in millimeter-wave(mm Wave) multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) systems. Fortunately, the hybrid beamforming(HBF) is proposed to overcome these limitations by splitting the beamforming process between the analog and digital domains. In recent works, most HBF schemes improve the spectral efficiency based on greedy algorithms. However, the iterative process in greedy algorithms leads to high computational complexity. In this paper, a new method is proposed to achieve a reasonable compromise between complexity and performance. The novel algorithm utilizes the low-complexity Gram-Schmidt method to orthogonalize the candidate vectors. With the orthogonal candidate matrix, the slow greedy algorithm is avoided. Thus, the RF vectors are found simultaneously without any iteration. Additionally, the phase extraction is applied to satisfy the element-wise constant-magnitude constraint on the RF matrix. 7Development and Validation of a Clinical Risk Score to Predict Immune-mediated Liver Injury Caused by Sintilimab:Assessed for Causality Using Updated RUCAM显示文摘Background and Aims:Immune-mediated liver injury is a fatal side effect of sintilimab.This study aimed to shed light on the associated risk factors and characteristics of this adverse event.Methods:The clinical records of 772 patients treated with sintilimab were retrospectively reviewed to investigate risk factors associated with sintilimab immune-related hepatotoxicity,as well as its incidence and outcome.The Roussel Uclaf Causality Assessment Method was used o identify cases of sintilimab-induced hepatotoxicity.Furthermore,logistic regressions were performed to compare the clinical and bloodwork characteristics of patients with and without immune-mediated liver injury caused by checkpoint inhibitors.Resu/ts:Of the 585 patients included in the study,71(12.1%)developed liver injury during sintili-mab use.The median RUCAM score with interquartile range was 7(6,8).Hypoproteinemia,dyslipidemia,and the pres-ence of thyroid peroxidase antibodies were risk factors for sintilimab-related hepatotoxicity.A nomogram model was constructed for sintilimab-induced immune-mediated liver injury based on these risk factors,which had a C-index value of 0.713 and a good calibration curve.When applied o patients with grade≥3 and≥4 sintilimab-induced immune-mediated liver injury,it achieved C-index values of 0.752 and 0.811,respectively.The nomogram model also showed a good prediction potential in patients≥65 years and males.Six of the patients with sintilimab-related hepatotoxicity showed improved liver function upon treatment with steroids.Conclusions:This study demonstrated that hypoproteinemia,dyslipidemia,and the presence of thyroid peroxidase antibodies were clinically feasible prognostic biomarkers to predict liver injury in patients treated with sintilimab.Caiyun Zheng Shunmin Huang Meimei Lin Baohui Hong Hengfen Dai Jing Yang 2023Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2023,11,6:0
8Disaster assessment for the“Belt and Road”region based on SDG landmarks显示文摘In this study,based on the EM-DAT(The Emergency Events Database)database,disaster assessment for the“Belt and Road”region was carried out in relation to the SDG_(13.1.1)indicator of the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs)agenda launched in 2015.A new method for diagnosing trends in the SDG_(13.1.1)indicators based on the Theil-Sen median method is proposed.In addition,using the data available in the EM-DAT,an overview of disaster records is used to quantify disasters for a total of 73 countries.The disaster trends for the period 2015‒2019 were found to demon-strate the following.(1)As a result of geological and climate con-ditions,Asia and Africa are high-risk disaster areas and disasters have caused considerable economic losses and affected the popu-lations in developing and underdeveloped countries in these regions.(2)The clear positive value ofΔs_(13.1.1)found for China reflects the country’s encouraging achievements in disaster preven-tion and mitigation.(3)The value of SDG_(13.1.1)was observed to be increasing in South Asia,northwest Africa and South Africa,with the increase in India and Mauritania being the most serious.The new method proposed in this paper allows the real trend in the SDG_(13.1.1)indicator in various countries to be derived and provides critical intelligence support for international disaster risk reduction plans and sustainable development goals.Li Wang Yuanhuizi He Yuelin Zhang Lei Wang Huicong Jia Quan Zhou Bo Yu Meimei Zhang Zhengyang Lin Fang Chen 2022Big Earth Data2022,6,1:0
9Safety and activity of WX-0593(Iruplinalkib)in patients with ALK-or ROS1-rearranged advanced non-small cell lung cancer:a phase 1 dose-escalation and dose-expansion trial显示文摘WX-0593(Iruplinalkib)is a novel,highly selective oral ALK and ROS1 tyrosine kinase inhibitor(TKI).In this study,the safety,antitumor activity,and pharmacokinetics of WX-0593 were evaluated in advanced non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)patients with ALK or ROS1 rearrangement.In the dose-escalation phase and dose-expansion phase,patients were treated with WX-0593 until disease progression,unacceptable toxicity,or subject withdrawal.In the dose-escalation phase,the primary endpoints were maximum tolerated dose(MTD),dose-limiting toxicity(DLT),and safety assessed by investigators.In the dose-expansion phase,the primary endpoint was objective response rate(ORR)assessed by investigators.Between September 25,2017 and October 15,2018,a total of 153 patients received WX-0593 treatment.Two dose-limiting toxicities(DLTs)including one grade 3 QT interval prolonged and one grade 2 chronic heart failure were reported at the dose of 300 mg in one patient.MTD was not reached.Overall,140 of the 152(92%)patients experienced treatment-related adverse events(TRAEs)and 35 of the 152(23%)patients had TRAEs≥grade 3.The overall ORR was 59.3%(32 of 54)for the dose-escalation phase and 56.6%(56 of 99)for the dose-expansion phase.For patients who were ALK-rearranged and ALK TKI naive,the ORR were 81.0%(17 of 21)in the dose-escalation phase and 76.3%(29 of 38)in the dose-expansion phase,and for patients who previously received crizotinib as the only ALK TKI,the ORR were 38.1%(8 of 21)and 45.7%(21 of 46)for the two phases,respectively.For patients who were ROS1-rearranged,the ORR were 30.0%(3 of 10)in the dose-escalation phase and 44.4%(4 of 9)in the dose-expansion phase.WX-0593 showed favorable safety and promising antitumor activity in advanced NSCLC patients with ALK or ROS1 rearrangement.Yuankai Shi Jian Fang Xuezhi Hao Shucai Zhang Yunpeng Liu Lin Wang Jianhua Chen Yi Hu Xiaosheng Hang Juan Li Chunling Liu Yiping Zhang Zhehai Wang Yanping Hu Kangsheng Gu Jian’an Huang Liangming Zhang Jinlu Shan Weiwei Ouyang Yanqiu Zhao Wu Zhuang Yan Yu Jun Zhao Helong Zhang Pei Lu Weidong Li Meimei Si Mingjing Ge Huaize Geng 2022Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,2:0
10Preoperative Acute Sleep Deprivation Causes Postoperative Pain Hypersensitivity and Abnormal Cerebral Function显示文摘Preoperative sleep loss can amplify post-operative mechanical hyperalgesia.However,the underlying mechanisms are still largely unknown.In the current study,rats were randomly allocated to a control group and an acute sleep deprivation(ASD)group which experienced 6 h ASD before surgery.Then the variations in cerebral function and activity were investigated with multi-modal techniques,such as nuclear magnetic resonance,functional magnetic resonance imaging,c-Fos immunofluorescence,and electrophysiology.The results indicated that ASD induced hyperalgesia,and the metabolic kinetics were remarkably decreased in the striatum and midbrain.The functional connectivity(FC)between the nucleus accumbens(NAc,a subregion of the ventral striatum)and the ventrolateral periaqueductal gray(vLPAG)was significantly reduced,and the c-Fos expression in the NAc and the vLPAG was suppressed.Furthermore,the electrophysiological recordings demonstrated that both the neuronal activity in the NAc and the vLPAG,and the coherence of the NAc-vLPAG were suppressed in both resting and task states.This study showed that neuronal activity in the NAc and the vLPAG were weakened and the FC between the NAc and the vLPAG was also suppressed in rats with ASD-induced hyperalgesia.This study highlights the importance of preoperative sleep management for surgical patients.Meimei Guo Yuxiang Wu Danhao Zheng Lei Chen Bingrui Xiong Jinfeng Wu Ke Li Li Wang Kangguang Lin Zongze Zhang Anne Manyande Fuqiang Xu Jie Wang Mian Peng 2022Neuroscience Bulletin2022,38,12:0
