1Baduanjin exercise improved premenstrual syndrome symptoms in Macao women显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of Baduanjin,a traditional Chinese medical exercise, on improving premenstrual syndrome(PMS) symptoms in women.METHODS: Forty reproductive age women with PMS in Macao practiced standardized Baduanjin exercise for three menstrual cycles. A questionnaire,the daily record of severity of problems(DRSP), was used to measure symptom severity. DRSP was filled out every days tarting from the last cycle before exercise(i.e., the first menstrual cycle) to the third cycle after exercise initiation(i.e., the fourth menstrual cycle). The total scores and the scores of each item during the 5 premenstrual days and follicular phase(5-9 postmenstrual days)were calculated.RESULTS: After exercise, the total DRSP scores dur-ing the 5 premenstrual days and differences in the total DRSP scores between the 5 premenstrual days and the follicular phase were both significantly reduced. Of note, the physical symptom total scores in the 5 premenstrual days and the differences between its total score in the 5 premenstrual days and in the follicular phase were both significantly reduced. The differences between the total scores of depressed mood, anxious mood, loss of interest,and reduction in social activity during the 5 premenstrual days and the follicular phase were also reduced.CONCLUSION: Baduanjin exercise was able to improve the mental and especially the physical symptoms of PMS.Huilin Zhang Mingxia Zhu Yang Song Meirong Kong 2014Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2014,34,4:2
2Sericin protects against diabetes-induced injuries in sciatic nerve and related nerve cells显示文摘Sericin from discarded silkworm cocoons of silk reeling has been used in different fields,such as cosmetology,skin care,nutrition,and oncology.The present study established a rat model of type 2 diabetes by consecutive intraperitoneal injections of low-dose (25 mg/kg) streptozotocin.After intragastrical perfusion of sericin for 35 days,blood glucose levels significantly declined,and the expression of neurofilament protein in the sciatic nerve and nerve growth factor in L4-6 spinal ganglion and anterior horn cells significantly increased.However,the expression of neuropeptide Y in spinal ganglion and anterior horn cells significantly decreased in model rats.These findings indicate that sericin protected the sciatic nerve and related nerve cells against injury in a rat type 2 diabetic model by upregulating the expression of neurofilament protein in the sciatic nerve and nerve growth factor in spinal ganglion and anterior horn cells,and downregulating the expression of neuropeptide Y in spinal ganglion and anterior horn cells.Chengjun Song Zhenjun Yang Meirong Zhong Zhihong Chen 2013Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,6:2
3Feasibility Study of Aluminum Hydroxide Sol as Adjuvant to Prepare Stable Vaccine Using Newcastle Disease Virus as a Model显示文摘Aluminum hydroxide sol (consisting of aluminum hydroxide nano-particles) prepared by a hydrothermal method was used as nano-aluminum adjuvant adsorbed the inactived Newcastle disease virus (NDV). The zeta potential of aluminum hydroxide colloidal particles,the inactivated NDV and the nano-aluminum adjuvant NDV are +48.16 mV,?13.8 mV and +39.97 mV,respec-tively. The nano-aluminum adjuvant vaccine was transparent and stable without precipitate,whereas the conventional aluminum ad-juvant vaccine was turbid and a white precipitate was visible soon. The hemagglutination inhibition (HI) titers of the nano-aluminum adjuvant group were generally higher than those of the conventional aluminum group except the titer on day 29. 11Alternatingly stacked thin film electrodes-based compact aqueous hybrid electrochemical capacitors for hundred-volts AC line filtering显示文摘Filtering capacitor with compact configuration and a wide range of operating voltage has been attracting increasing attention for the smooth conversion of the electric signal in modern circuits.Lossless integration of capacitor units can be regarded as one of the efficient ways to achieve a wider voltage range,which has not yet been fully conquered due to the lack of rational designs of the electrode structure and integration technology.This study presents an alternatingly stacked assemble technology to conveniently fabricate compact aqueous hybrid integrated filtering capacitors on a large scale,in which a unit consists of rGO/MXene composite film as a negative electrode and PEDOT:PSS based film as a positive electrode.Benefiting from the synergistic effect of rGO and MXene components,and morphological characteristics of PEDOT:PSS,the capacitor unit exhibits outstanding AC line filtering with a large areal specific energy density of 1,015 μF V^(2)cm^(-2)(0.28 μW h cm^(-2)) at 120 Hz.After rational integration,the assembled capacitors present compact/lightweight configuration and lossless frequency response,as reflected by almost constant resistor-capacitor time constant of 0.2 ms and dissipation factor of 15% at120 Hz,identical to those of the single capacitor unit.Apart from standing alone steadily on a flower,a small volume(only 8.1 cm^(3)) of the integrated capacitor with 70 units connected in series achieves hundred-volts alternating current line filtering,which is superior to most reported filtering capacitors with sandwich configuration.This study provides insight into the fabrication and application of compact/ultralight filtering capacitors with lossless frequency response,and a wide range of operating voltage.Lixia Wang Lingyu Zhao Meirong Song Lixia Xie Xiaopeng Wang Xin Li Yanjie Huang Min Wei Qiu Jin Xianglong Meng Yang Zhao 2023Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,3:0
12Target slinging of droplets with a flexible cantilever显示文摘Control of the directional bounce of droplets impacting solid surfaces is crucial for many agricultural and industrial applications.However,for the universal impact process of raindrops on plant leaves,little is known about how the highly coupled and complicated fluid–structure interaction controls the postimpact motion of droplets and endows the leaves with tenacious vitality.Here,we report a leaf-like superhydrophobic cantilever to flexibly bounce droplets with well-defined directionality and controllability.Through theoretical modeling and three-dimensional fluid–solid coupling simulations,we find that the flexible cantilever significantly relieves the impacting forces of raindrops to reduce droplet fragmentation and enhance water repellency.The results further uncover the scaling relations of the droplet bouncing direction with respect to Weber number and cantilever stiffness.By this technique,the seemed disorganized postimpact movements of droplets are programmable and predictable,achieving the goal of where to point and where to hit automatically.This work advances the understanding of natural droplet impact phenomena,opens a new avenue for delicately controlling liquid motion in space with soft materials,and inspires a plethora of applications like soft robots to transport materials and energies,monitor plant growth as well as predict pathogen transmission in plants.Wei Fang Shun Wang Hu Duan Shahid Ali Tahir Kaixuan Zhang Lixia Wang Xi-Qiao Feng Meirong Song 2023Droplet2023,2,3:0
