^(226)Ra evidence for the ecosystem shift over the past 40 years in the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre显示文摘Surface seawater was collected for ^(226)Ra measurement in the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre from July to October, 1999 and October to December, 2003. Combined with the historical data reported for this sea area, a declined trend of surface ^(226)Ra concentrations was observed since 1960s, indicating the ecosystem shift in response to global warming. On one side, the enhanced stratification of the upper water column resulting from global warming reduced the ^(226)Ra input from the depth, on the other, the temporal increase of biological production resulting from the climate-related ecosystem structure change strengthened the ^(226)Ra removal from the surface ocean. Both the physical and biological processes resulted in the decrease of surface ^(226)Ra concentrations in the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre. The temporal trend of surface ^(226)Ra concentrations was consistent with the trends of chlorophyll a, silicate, phosphate and primary production previously reported. This study provided ^(226)Ra evidence for the ecosystem shift under global change. | YANG JunHong CHEN Min QIU YuSheng LI YanPing MA Qiang LUE E ZHANG Run HUANG YiPu | 2007 | Chinese Science Bulletin2007,52,6: | 5
Cytotoxicity and penetration enhancement activity of essential oils from warming the interior medicinals with hot or warm property in terms of Traditional Chinese Medicine显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate on the cytotoxicity and penetration enhancement effect of essential oils(EOs) from warming the interior medicinals(WIM)from Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM).METHODS: EOs were extracted from WIM of Bichengqie(Litseae Fructus), Dingxiang(Flos Syzygii Aromatici), Huajiao(Pericorpium Zanthoxyli Bungeani), and Xiaohuixiang(Fructus Foeniculi) with warm nature, and Ganjiang(Rhizoma Zingiberis),Gaoliangjiang(Rhizoma Alpinioe Officinari), Rougui(Cortex Cinnamomi Cassioe), and Wuzhuyu(Fructus Evodiae Rutoecorpae) with hot nature; respectively.Their chemical compositions were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS). The cytotoxicity of the extracted eight EOs on HaCaT cells was measured and compared. Moreover, analyses of cell cycle and cell apoptosis were performed to investigate the cytotoxic mechanism. The transdermal penetration enhancement effects of the extracted eight EOs on ibuprofen were further compared by the modified Franz diffusion cell method.RESULTS: The most abundant constituents in the extracted eight EOs were determined to be monoterpenes, especially oxygen containing monoterpenes. The HaCaT cell cytotoxicity of EOs from WIM with hot nature were significantly(P = 0.020) higher than that with warm nature. Both ginger oil and zanthoxylum oil significantly induced G0/G1 phase arrestment in HaCaT cell cycle. For ginger oil from WIM with hot nature and zanthoxylum oil from WIM with warm nature, the main mechanisms of the cytotoxicity were found to be the induction of cellular necrosis and the cellular apoptosis, respectively. Furthermore, most of the tested EOs showed remarkable penetration enhancement activity on ibuprofen. However, no statistical significance(P =0.18) was found between penetration enhancement activity of EOs from WIM with warm nature and EOs from WIM with hot nature.CONCLUSION: With the enhanced penetration activity, the extracted EOs from the WIM demonstrated their significant effect of the cytotoxicity on the skin cells. | Yao Junhong Jiang Qiudong Cai Hao Zhu Xuemin Ma Min Duan Jinao Dong Jie Chen Jun | 2018 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2018,38,2: | 4
Influence of particle composition on thorium scavenging in the marginal China seas显示文摘Thorium-234 and particle composition (organic matter, biogenic silica, carbonate and lithogenic component) were examined in the East China Sea (ECS) and the northern South China Sea (NSCS) in order to constrain the particle types scavenging thorium isotopes. Good positive correlations be-tween particulate organic matter (POM) or carbonate and thorium-234 in suspended particulate matter (SPM) indicates that POM and carbonate are efficient to scavenge thorium-234. No relation-ship between biogenic silica and thorium-234 suggests that geochemical behavior of thorium-234 may be not influenced by biogenic silica. A simple model was used to evaluate the affinity of thorium-234 to different particle components. The results show that POM is the most efficient scavenger for thorium-234 in the ECS and the NSCS, followed by carbonate. The authors’ re-sults lend support to the utility of thorium-234 as a proxy of POC and carbonate in the upper layer. However, the strong dependence of thorium scavenging on particle composition challenges thorium-230 as a constant flux proxy. | YANG Weifeng CHEN Min CAO Jianping QIU Yusheng ZHANG Run MA Qiang TONG Jinlu YANG Junhong YANG Zhi LUE E | 2009 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2009,28,2: | 4
Significance of vulnerability assessment in establishment of Hainan provincal disaster medical system显示文摘Hainan is an island province in south China with a high frequency of unconventional emergencies due to its special geographic location and national military defense role.Given the limited transportation route from Hainan to the outside world,self-rescue is more important to Hainan Province than other provinces in China and it is therefore imperative to establish an independent, scientific as well as efficient provincal disaster medical system in Hainan. The regulatory role for vulnerability analysis/assessment has been demonstrated in establisment of disaster medical system in varoius countries and or regions. In this paper,we attempt to describe/propose how to adopt vulnerability assessment through mathematical modeling of major biophysical social vulnerability factors to establish an independent, scientific, effieicnt and comprehensive provincial disaster medical system in Hainan. | Min Li Chuanzhu Lu Wei Son Junhong Miao Yipeng Ding Longhe Li Leilei Zhang Nin Zhao Bijiang Hu Yunjun Zhang | 2011 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2011,4,8: | 2
Biomarkers of aging显示文摘Aging biomarkers are a combination of biological parameters to(i)assess age-related changes,(ii)track the physiological aging process, and(iii)predict the transition into a pathological status.Although a broad spectrum of aging biomarkers has been developed, their potential uses and limitations remain poorly characterized. An immediate goal of biomarkers is to help us answer the following three fundamental questions in aging research:How old are we?Why do we get old?And how can we age slower? This review aims to address this need. Here,we summarize our current knowledge of biomarkers developed for cellular, organ, and organismal levels of aging, comprising six pillars:physiological characteristics, medical imaging, histological features, cellular alterations, molecular changes, and secretory factors. To fulfill all these requisites,we propose that aging biomarkers should qualify for being specific, systemic, and clinically relevant. | Aging Biomarker Consortium Hainan Bao Jiani Cao Mengting Chen Min Chen Wei Chen Xiao Chen Yanhao Chen Yu Chen Yutian Chen Zhiyang Chen Jagadish K Chhetri Yingjie Ding Junlin Feng Jun Guo Mengmeng Guo Chuting He Yujuan Jia Haiping Jiang Ying Jing Dingfeng Li Jiaming Li Jingyi Li Qinhao Liang Rui Liang Feng Liu Xiaoqian Liu Zuojun Liu Oscar Junhong Luo Jianwei Lv Jingyi Ma Kehang Mao Jiawei Nie Xinhua Qiao Xinpei Sun Xiaoqiang Tang Jianfang Wang Qiaoran Wang Siyuan Wang Xuan Wang Yaning Wang Yuhan Wang Rimo Wu Kai Xia Fu-Hui Xiao Lingyan Xu Yingying Xu Haoteng Yan Liang Yang Ruici Yang Yuanxin Yang Yilin Ying Le Zhang Weiwei Zhang Wenwan Zhang Xing Zhang Zhuo Zhang Min Zhou Rui Zhou Qingchen Zhu Zhengmao Zhu Feng Cao Zhongwei Cao Piu Chan Chang Chen Guobing Chen Hou-Zao Chen Jun Chen Weimin Ci Bi-Sen Ding Qiurong Ding Feng Gao Jing-Dong JHan Kai Huang Zhenyu Ju Qing-Peng Kong Ji Li Jian Li Xin Li Baohua Liu Feng Liu Lin Liu Qiang Liu Qiang Liu Xingguo Liu Yong Liu Xianghang Luo Shuai Ma Xinran Ma Zhiyong Mao Jing Nie Yaojin Peng Jing Qu Jie Ren Ruibao Ren Moshi Song Zhou Songyang Yi Eve Sun Yu Sun Mei Tian Shusen Wang Si Wang Xia Wang Xiaoning Wang Yan-Jiang Wang Yunfang Wang Catherine CL Wong Andy Peng Xiang Yichuan Xiao Zhengwei Xie Daichao Xu Jing Ye Rui Yue Cuntai Zhang Hongbo Zhang Liang Zhang Weiqi Zhang Yong Zhang Yun-Wu Zhang Zhuohua Zhang Tongbiao Zhao Yuzheng Zhao Dahai Zhu Weiguo Zou Gang Pei Guang-Hui Liu | 2023 | Science China(Life Sciences)2023,66,5: | 2

Factor analysis of recent major heatwaves in East Asia显示文摘Heatwaves(HWs)present a major hazard to our society and more extreme heatwaves are expected with future climatic changes.Hence,it is important to improve our understanding of the underlying processes that drive HWs,in order to boost our socioeconomic-ecological resilience. In this study,we quantified the influences of key driving factors(large-scale atmospheric circulation, soil moisture, and sea surface temperature)and their synergies on recent heatwaves in East Asia.We conducted a factor separation analysis for three recent HW events by constraining the key factors in the regional Weather Research and Forecasting model with their climatologies or pseudo-observations in different combinations. Our study showed distinct spatial variations in the HW-controlling factors in East Asia. The synergistic interaction of large-scale circulation and soil moisture was the most important factors in the 2013 Chinese HW.During the 2018 HWs in Korea and Japan, the same stagnant large-scale atmospheric circulation played a dominant role in driving the HW events. The land-atmosphere coupling via soil moisture, its interaction with circulation, and SST exhibited stronger influences during the Korean HW than the Japanese HW.Our analysis also revealed temporal variations in the factors driving Korean and Chinese HWs due to typhoon passage and other multiple processes over heterogeneous surfaces(i.e.,topographically induced Foehn winds,large-scale warm advection from the warm ocean, spatial differences in soil moisture). Our findings suggest that future heatwave-related studies should consider interactive contributions of key factors, their interplay with surface heterogeneities of complex terrain. | Arim Yoon Jeongwon Kim Jooyeop Lee Hyun Min Sung Je-Woo Hong Seung-Ki Min Junhong Lee Jinkyu Hong | 2024 | Geoscience Frontiers2024,15,1: | 0
