| 2 | Genetic Algorithm to Optimize the Design of Main Combustor and Gas Generator in Liquid Rocket Engines显示文摘A genetic algorithm was used to develop optimal design methods for the regenerative cooled combustor and fuel-rich gas generator of a liquid rocket engine. For the combustor design, a chemical equilibrium analysis was applied, and the profile was calculated using Rao's method. One-dimensional heat transfer was assumed along the profile, and cooling channels were designed. For the gas-generator design, non-equilibrium properties were derived from a counterflow analysis, and a vaporization model for the fuel droplet was adopted to calculate residence time. Finally, a genetic algorithm was adopted to optimize the designs. The combustor and gas generator were optimally designed for 30-tonf, 75-tonf, and 150-tonf engines. The optimized combustors demonstrated superior design characteristics when compared with previous non-optimized results. Wall temperatures at the nozzle throat were optimized to satisfy the requirement of 800 K, and specific impulses were maximized. | 8 | Diagnostic Indicators for Blood Stasis Syndrome Patients with Gynaecological Diseases显示文摘Objective: To investigate the important diagnostic indicators for blood stasis syndrome(BSS) in patients of childbearing age with gynaecological diseases. Methods: A partial least squared-discriminant analysis(PLS-DA) were applied to BSS symptoms data of patients with gynaecological diseases, and the diagnostic indicators used by doctors of Korean medicine(DKMs) among BSS patients with gynaecological diseases were also investigated. Results: A total of 103 patients of childbearing age with gynaecological diseases and 40 healthy controls were enrolled. Among the 103 patients, 63(61.7%) and 40(38.8%) were diagnosed with BSS and non-BSS, respectively, and BSS patients exhibited a more severe extent of disease. A score plot of PLS-DA showed clearly different patterns among the 3 groups. Based on the variable importance on projection of PLS-DA model, menstrual pains, dark lumps in the menstrual blood, ileocoecal tenderness and resistance, sharp pains, and sublingual varicosities were selected as the top five most important indicators. Moreover, more than 75% of DKMs chose dark lumps in menstrual blood, menstrual pain, and dark menstrual blood as the diagnostic indicators of BSS in patients with gynaecological diseases, and more than 49% of them also considered sharp pains, dark red tongue, sublingual varicosities, and tendency to bruise easily as diagnostic indicators of BSS. | 13 | Enhancing Hydrophilicity of Thick Electrodes for High Energy Density Aqueous Batteries显示文摘Thick electrodes can substantially enhance the overall energy density of batteries.However,insufficient wettability of aqueous electrolytes toward electrodes with conventional hydrophobic binders severely limits utilization of active materials with increasing the thickness of electrodes for aqueous batteries,resulting in battery performance deterioration with a reduced capacity.Here,we demonstrate that controlling the hydrophilicity of the thicker electrodes is critical to enhancing the overall energy density of batteries.Hydrophilic binders are synthesized via a simple sulfonation process of conventional polyvinylidene fluoride binders,considering physicochemical properties such as mechanical properties and adhesion.The introduction of abundant sulfonate groups of binders(i)allows fast and sufficient electrolyte wetting,and(ii)improves ionic conduction in thick electrodes,enabling a significant increase in reversible capacities under various current densities.Further,the sulfonated binder effectively inhibits the dissolution of cathode materials in reactive aqueous electrolytes.Overall,our findings significantly enhance the energy density and contribute to the development of practical zinc-ion batteries. | Jungeun Lee Hyeonsoo Lee Cheol Bak Youngsun Hong Daeha Joung Jeong Beom Ko Yong Min Lee Chanhoon Kim | 2023 | Nano-Micro Letters2023,15,7: | 2 |
| 14 | Xenografting of human umbilical mesenchymal stem cells from Wharton’s jelly ameliorates mouse spinocerebellar ataxia type 1显示文摘Background:Spinocerebellar ataxia type 1(SCA1)is an autosomal dominant neurodegenerative disorder caused by the expansion of CAG repeats in ATXN1 gene resulting in an expansion of polyglutamine repeats in the ATXN1 protein.Unfortunately,there has yet been any effective treatment so far for SCA1.This study investigated the feasibility of transplanting human umbilical mesenchymal stem cells(HUMSCs)into transgenic SCA1 mice containing an expanded uninterrupted allele with 82 repeats in the ATXN1-coding region.Methods:106 human umbilical mesenchymal stem cells were transplanted into the cerebella at 1 month of age.Results:HUMSCs displayed significant ameliorating effects in SCA1 mice in terms of motor behaviors in balance beam test and open field test as compared with the untransplanted SCA1 mice.HUMSCs transplantation effectively reduced the cerebellar atrophy,salvaged Purkinje cell death,and alleviated molecular layer shrinkage.Electrophysiological studies showed higher amplitudes of compound motor action potentials as indicated by increasing neuronal-muscular response strength to stimuli after stem cell transplantation.At 5 months after transplantation,HUMSCs scattering in the mice cerebella remained viable and secreted cytokines without differentiating into neuronal or glia cells.Conclusions:Our findings provide hope for a new therapeutic direction for the treatment of SCA1. | Pei-Jiun Tsai Chang-Ching Yeh Wan-Jhen Huang Ming-Yuan Min Tzu-Hao Huang Tsui-Ling Ko Pei-Yu Huang Tien-Hua Chen Sanford P.C.Hsu Bing-Wen Soong Yu-Show Fu | 2019 | Translational Neurodegeneration2019,8,1: | 2 |
