| 1 | OsWRKY03, a rice transcriptional activator that functions in defense signaling pathway upstream of OsNPR1显示文摘WRKY family proteins are a class of plant specific transcription factors that involve in many stress response pathways. It has been shown that one Arabidopsis WRKY protein, AtWRKY29/22, is activated by MAP kinase signaling cascade and confers resistance to both bacterial and fungal pathogens. However, little is known about the biological roles of WRKY proteins in rice. In this study, we investigated the expression patterns of rice AtWRKY29/22 homolog, OsWRKY03, under different conditions, and also its possible role involved in plant defense. Our results showed that OsWRKY03 was up-regulated by several defense signaling molecules or different treatments. Further analysis revealed that the expres- sion of OsWRKY03 was light dependent. Transcriptional activation activity of OsWRKY03 was also demonstrated by yeast functional assay. Transient expression of OsWRKY03-GFP fusion protein in onion epidermis cells showed that OsWRKY03 was a nuclear localized protein. OsNPR1 as well as several other pathogenesis-related genes, such as OsPR1b, phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (ZB8) and peroxidase (POX22.3), were induced in OsWRKY03-overexpressing transgenic plants. | 2 | Effects of Lactobacillus plantarum on gut barrier function in experimental obstructive jaundice显示文摘AIM:To investigate the mechanisms of Lactobacillus plantarum(L.plantarum)action on gut barrier in preoperative and postoperative experimental obstructive jaundice in rats.METHODS:Forty rats were randomly divided into groups of sham-operation,bile duct ligation(BDL),BDL +L.plantarum,BDL+internal biliary drainage(IBD),and BDL+IBD+L.plantarum.Ten days after L.plantarum administration,blood and ileal samples were collected from the rats for morphological examination,and intestinal barrier function,liver function,intestinal oxidative stress and protein kinase C(PKC)activity measurement.The distribution and expression of the PKC and tight junction(TJ)proteins,such as occludin,zonula occludens-1,claudin-1,claudin-4,junction adhesion molecule-A and F-actin,were examined by confocal laser scanning microscopy,immunohistochemistry,Western blotting,real-time fluorescent quantitative polymerase chain reaction assay.RESULTS:L.plantarum administration substantially restored gut barrier,decreased enterocyte apoptosis,improved intestinal oxidative stress,promoted the activity and expression of protein kinase(BDL vs BDL+L.plantarum,0.295±0.007 vs 0.349±0.003,P<0.05;BDL+IBD vs BDL+IBD+L.plantarum,0.407±0.046 vs 0.465±0.135,P<0.05),and particularly enhanced the expression and phosphorylation of TJ proteins in the experimental obstructive jaundice(BDL vs BDL+L.plantarum,0.266±0.118 vs 0.326±0.009,P<0.05).The protective effect of L.plantarum was more prominent after internal biliary drainage(BDL+IBD vs BDL +IBD+L.plantarum,0.415±0.105 vs 0.494±0.145,P<0.05).CONCLUSION:L.plantarum can decrease intestinal epithelial cell apoptosis,reduce oxidative stress,and prevent TJ disruption in biliary obstruction by activating the PKC pathway. | Yu-Kun Zhou Huan-Long Qin Ming Zhang Tong-Yi Shen Hong-Qi Chen Yan-Lei Ma Zhao-Xin Chu Peng Zhang Zhi-Hua Liu | 2012 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,30: | 21 |
| 3 | Efficacy of epalrestat plus α-lipoic acid combination therapy versus monotherapy in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy: a meta-analysis of 20 randomized controlled trials显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy of α-lipoic acid(ALA) plus epalrestat combination therapy in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN). DATA SOURCES: The electronic databases of Pub Med, Medline, Embase, the Cochrane Library, the Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure, the Wanfang Database and the Chinese Biomedical Database were used to retrieve relevant studies without language restrictions. The search was conducted from the inception of each database to 7 October 2016. The key terms were(diabetic peripheral neuropathy or diabetic neuropathy or DPN) AND(α-lipoic acid or lipoic acid or thioctic acid) AND epalrestat. DATA SELECTION: All of the eligible studies met the following inclusion criteria:(1) Randomized controlled trials that compared efficacy and safety of epalrestat plus ALA combination therapy versus epalrestat or ALA monotherapy in patients with DPN.(2) The minimum duration of treatment was 2 weeks.(3) The DPN patients were diagnosed using the World Health Organization standardized type 2 diabetes mellitus and DPN criteria.(4) Studies contained at least one measure that could reflect the efficacy of the drug and nerve conduction velocities. Studies in which the control group used epalrestat or ALA combined with other drugs were excluded. Statistical analyses were performed using STATA software for meta-analysis. OUTCOME MEASURES: The primary outcomes were the therapeutic efficacy, median motor nerve conduction velocity(MNCV), median sensory nerve conduction velocity(SNCV), peroneal MNCV and peroneal SNCV.RESULTS: Twenty studies with 1894 DPN patients were included, including 864 patients in the ALA plus epalrestat group, 473 in the ALA group and 557 in the epalrestat group. The efficacy of ALA plus epalrestat combination therapy was superior to ALA and epalrestat monotherapies(RR = 1.29, 95% CI: 1.21–1.38; RR = 1.43, 95% CI: 1.34–1.54, respectively). | 5 | Donepezil attenuates vascular dementia in rats through increasing BDNF induced by reducing HDAC6 nuclear translocation显示文摘Vascular dementia(VD)is the second most common dementia disease after Alzheimer’s diseases(AD)in the world.Donepezil is used to treat mild to moderate AD,and it has been shown to treat cognitive impairment and memory deficits caused by VD.However,the action mechanism of donepezil against VD has not been clarified.In this study,a bilateral common carotid artery occlusion(BCCAO)model was established in rats to simulate the pathology of VD.Two weeks after the surgery,the rats were administered donepezil(10 mg·kg^−1·d^−1,ig)for 3 weeks,and then subjected to behavioral tests.We showed that donepezil treatment significantly improved the performance of BCCAO rats in Morris Water Mazes test and Step-down test.Furthermore,we showed that donepezil treatment significantly attenuated neurodegeneration and restored the synapse dendritic spines density in cortex and hippocampus.We revealed that donepezil treatment significantly increased BDNF expression in cortex and hippocampus.Interestingly,donepezil treatment significantly decreased nuclear translocation of HDAC6 and the binding between HDAC6 and BDNF promoter IV in cortex,but not in the hippocampus.The attenuated neurodegeneration by donepezil in cortex and hippocampus might due to the reduced ROS levels and increased phosphorylation of AMPK,whereas increased phosphorylation of AKT was only detected in cortex.In conclusion,our results demonstrate that donepezil attenuates neurodegeneration in cortex and hippocampus via increasing BDNF expression;the regulation of donepezil on HDAC6 occurred in cortex,but not in the hippocampus.This study further clarifies the pharmacological mechanism of donepezil,while also emphasizes the promising epigenetic regulation of HDAC6. | Wen-xuan Jian Zhao Zhang Jia-hong Zhan Shi-feng Chu Ye Peng Ming Zhao Qi Wang Nai-hong Chen | 2020 | Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2020,41,5: | 9 |

| 7 | Analysis of genetic architecture and favorable allele usage of agronomic traits in a large collection of Chinese rice accessions显示文摘Genotyping and phenotyping large natural populations provide opportunities for population genomic analysis and genome-wide association studies(GWAS). Several rice populations have been re-sequenced in the past decade;however, many major Chinese rice cultivars were not included in these studies. Here, we report large-scale genomic and phenotypic datasets for a collection mainly comprised of 1,275 rice accessions of widely planted cultivars and parental hybrid rice lines from China. The population was divided into three indica/Xian and three japonica/Geng phylogenetic subgroups that correlate strongly with their geographic or breeding origins. We acquired a total of 146 phenotypic datasets for 29 agronomic traits under multi-environments for different subpopulations. With GWAS, we identified a total of 143 significant association loci, including three newly identified candidate genes or alleles that control heading date or amylose content. Our genotypic analysis of agronomically important genes in the population revealed that many favorable alleles are underused in elite accessions, suggesting they may be used to provide improvements in future breeding efforts. | 8 | The Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST)显示文摘The Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST, also called the Guo Shou Jing Telescope) is a special reflecting Schmidt telescope. LAMOST's special design allows both a large aperture (effective aperture of 3.6 m-4.9 m) and a wide field of view (FOV) (5°). It has an innovative active reflecting Schmidt configuration which continuously changes the mirror's surface that adjusts during the observation process and combines thin deformable mirror active optics with segmented active optics. Its primary mirror (6.67m×6.05 m) and active Schmidt mirror (5.74m×4.40 m) are both segmented, and composed of 37 and 24 hexagonal sub-mirrors respectively. By using a parallel controllable fiber positioning technique, the focal surface of 1.75 m in diameter can accommodate 4000 optical fibers. Also, LAMOST has 16 spectrographs with 32 CCD cameras. LAMOST will be the telescope with the highest rate of spectral acquisition. As a national large scientific project, the LAMOST project was formally proposed in 1996, and approved by the Chinese government in 1997. The construction started in 2001, was completed in 2008 and passed the official acceptance in June 2009. The LAMOST pilot survey was started in October 2011 and the spectroscopic survey will launch in September 2012. Up to now, LAMOST has released more than 480 000 spectra of objects. | 9 | Folate receptor-mediated boron-10 containing carbon nanoparticles as potential delivery vehicles for boron neutron capture therapy of nonfunctional pituitary adenomas显示文摘Invasive nonfunctional pituitary adenomas(NFPAs) are difficult to completely resect and often develop tumor recurrence after initial surgery.Currently,no medications are clinically effective in the control of NFPA.Although radiation therapy and radiosurgery are useful to prevent tumor regrowth,they are frequently withheld because of severe complications.Boron neutron capture therapy(BNCT) is a binary radiotherapy that selectively and maximally damages tumor cells without harming the surrounding normal tissue.Folate receptor(FR)-targeted boron-10 containing carbon nanoparticles is a novel boron delivery agent that can be selectively taken up by FR-expressing cells via FR-mediated endocytosis.In this study,FR-targeted boron-10 containing carbon nanoparticles were selectively taken up by NFPAs cells expressing FR but not other types of non-FR expressing pituitary adenomas.After incubation with boron-10 containing carbon nanoparticles and following irradiation with thermal neutrons,the cell viability of NFPAs was significantly decreased,while apoptotic cells were simultaneously increased.However,cells administered the same dose of FR-targeted boron-10 containing carbon nanoparticles without neutron irradiation or received the same neutron irradiation alone did not show significant decrease in cell viability or increase in apoptotic cells.The expression of Bcl-2 was down-regulated and the expression of Bax was up-regulated in NFPAs after treatment with FR-mediated BNCT.In conclusion,FR-targeted boron-10 containing carbon nanoparticles may be an ideal delivery system of boron to NFPAs cells for BNCT.Furthermore,our study also provides a novel insight into therapeutic strategies for invasive NFPA refractory to conventional therapy,while exploring these new applications of BNCT for tumors,especially benign tumors. | DAI CongXin CAI Feng HWANG Kuo Chu ZHOU YongMao ZHANG ZiZhu LIU XiaoHai MA SiHai YANG YaKun YAO Yong FENG Ming BAO XinJie LI GuiLin WEI JunJi JIAO YongHui WEI ZhenQing MA WenBin WANG RenZhi | 2013 | Science China(Life Sciences)2013,56,2: | 8 |

| 13 | Basic mechanisms of peripheral nerve injury and treatment via electrical stimulation显示文摘Previous studies on the mechanisms of peripheral nerve injury(PNI)have mainly focused on the pathophysiological changes within a single injury site.However,recent studies have indicated that within the central nervous system,PNI can lead to changes in both injury sites and target organs at the cellular and molecular levels.Therefore,the basic mechanisms of PNI have not been comprehensively understood.Although electrical stimulation was found to promote axonal regeneration and functional rehabilitation after PNI,as well as to alleviate neuropathic pain,the specific mechanisms of successful PNI treatment are unclear.We summarize and discuss the basic mechanisms of PNI and of treatment via electrical stimulation.After PNI,activity in the central nervous system(spinal cord)is altered,which can limit regeneration of the damaged nerve.For example,cell apoptosis and synaptic stripping in the anterior horn of the spinal cord can reduce the speed of nerve regeneration.The pathological changes in the posterior horn of the spinal cord can modulate sensory abnormalities after PNI.This can be observed in cases of ectopic discharge of the dorsal root ganglion leading to increased pain signal transmission.The injured site of the peripheral nerve is also an important factor affecting post-PNI repair.After PNI,the proximal end of the injured site sends out axial buds to innervate both the skin and muscle at the injury site.A slow speed of axon regeneration leads to low nerve regeneration.Therefore,it can take a long time for the proximal nerve to reinnervate the skin and muscle at the injured site.From the perspective of target organs,long-term denervation can cause atrophy of the corresponding skeletal muscle,which leads to abnormal sensory perception and hyperalgesia,and finally,the loss of target organ function.The mechanisms underlying the use of electrical stimulation to treat PNI include the inhibition of synaptic stripping,addressing the excessive excitability of the dorsal root ganglion,alleviating neuropathic pain,improving neurological function,and accelerating nerve regeneration.Electrical stimulation of target organs can reduce the atrophy of denervated skeletal muscle and promote the recovery of sensory function.Findings from the included studies confirm that after PNI,a series of physiological and pathological changes occur in the spinal cord,injury site,and target organs,leading to dysfunction.Electrical stimulation may address the pathophysiological changes mentioned above,thus promoting nerve regeneration and ameliorating dysfunction. | Xiao-Lei Chu Xi-Zi Song Qi Li Yu-Ru Li Feng He Xiao-Song Gu Dong Ming | 2022 | Neural Regeneration Research2022,17,10: | 6 |
| 14 | Effects of Joint Controller on Analytical Modal Analysis of Rotational Flexible Manipulator显示文摘Modal analysis is a fundamental and important task for modeling and control of the flexible manipulator. However, almost all of the traditional modal analysis methods view the flexible manipulator as a pure mechanical structure and neglect feedback action of joint controller. In order to study the effects of joint controller on the modal analysis of rotational flexible manipulator, a closed-loop analytical modal analysis method is proposed. Firstly, two exact boundary constraints, namely servo feedback constraint and bending moment constraint, are derived to solve the vibration partial differential equation. It is found that the stiffness and damping gains of joint controller are both included in the boundary conditions, which lead to an unconventional secular term. Secondly, analytical algorithm based on Ritz approach is developed by using Laplace transform and complex modal approach to obtain the natural frequencies and mode shapes. And then, the numerical simulations are performed and the computational results show that joint controller has pronounced influence on the modal parameters: joint controller stiffness reduces the natural frequency, while joint controller damping makes the shape phase non-zero. Furthermore, the validity of the presented conclusion is confirmed through experimental studies. | 15 | Rg1 improves LPS-induced Parkinsonian symptoms in mice via inhibition of NF-κB signaling and modulation of M1/M2 polarization显示文摘Ginsenoside Rg1 is one of the most active ingredients in ginseng,which has been reported to protect dopaminergic neurons and improve behavioral defects in MPTP model,6-OHDA model and rotenone model.However,it is unclear whether Rg1 exerted neuroprotection in LPS-induced sub-acute PD model.In this study,we investigated the neuroprotective effect of Rg1 in the sub-acute PD mouse model and explored the related mechanisms.Rg1(10,20,40 mg·kg^?1·d^?1)was orally administered to mice for 18 days.A sub-acute PD model was established in the mice through LPS microinjection into the substantia nigra(SN)from D8 to D13.We found that Rg1 administration dose-dependently inhibited LPS-induced damage of dopaminergic neurons and activation of glial cells in the substantia nigra pars compacta(SNpc).The neuroprotective effects of Rg1 were associated with the reduction of pro-in?ammatory cytokines and the improvement of anti-in?ammatory cytokines and neurotrophin in the midbrain.Rg1 shifted the polarization of microglia towards the M2 phenotype from M1,evidenced by decreased M1 markers(inducible NO synthase,CD16,etc.)and increased M2 markers(arginase 1(Arg1),CD206,etc)in the midbrain.Furthermore,Rg1 administration markedly inhibited nuclear translocation of NF-κB in midbrain microglia.In conclusion,Rg1 protects PD mice induced by continuous LPS injection by inhibiting the nuclear entry of NF-κB and regulating the polarization balance of microglia,shedding new light on a disease-modifying therapy of PD. | Jia-qi Liu Ming Zhao Zhao Zhang Li-yuan Cui Xin Zhou Wei Zhang Shi-feng Chu Da-yong Zhang Nai-hong Chen | 2020 | Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2020,41,4: | 6 |

| 17 | Deep Spatiotemporal Convolutional-Neural-Network-Based Remaining Useful Life Estimation of Bearings显示文摘The remaining useful life(RUL)estimation of bearings is critical for ensuring the reliability of mechanical systems.Owing to the rapid development of deep learning methods,a multitude of data-driven RUL estimation approaches have been proposed recently.However,the following problems remain in existing methods:1)Most network models use raw data or statistical features as input,which renders it difficult to extract complex fault-related information hidden in signals;2)for current observations,the dependence between current states is emphasized,but their complex dependence on previous states is often disregarded;3)the output of neural networks is directly used as the estimated RUL in most studies,resulting in extremely volatile prediction results that lack robustness.Hence,a novel prognostics approach is proposed based on a time-frequency representation(TFR)subsequence,three-dimensional convolutional neural network(3DCNN),and Gaussian process regression(GPR).The approach primarily comprises two aspects:construction of a health indicator(HI)using the TFR-subsequence-3DCNN model,and RUL estimation based on the GPR model.The raw signals of the bearings are converted into TFR-subsequences by continuous wavelet transform and a dislocated overlapping strategy.Subsequently,the 3DCNN is applied to extract the hidden spatiotemporal features from the TFR-subsequences and construct HIs.Finally,the RUL of the bearings is estimated using the GPR model,which can also define the probability distribution of the potential function and prediction confidence.Experiments on the PRONOSTIA platform demonstrate the superiority of the proposed TFR-subsequence-3DCNN-GPR approach.The use of degradation-related spatiotemporal features in signals is proposed herein to achieve a highly accurate bearing RUL prediction with uncertainty quantification. | Xu Wang Tianyang Wang Anbo Ming Qinkai Han Fulei Chu Wei Zhang Aihua Li | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2021,34,3: | 5 |
| 18 | Effects of biological soil crusts on profile distribution of soil water,organic carbon and total nitrogen in Mu Us Sandland,China显示文摘Aims Biological soil crusts(BSCs)can affect soil properties including water dynamics and cycling of soil carbon and nitrogen in dryland ecosystems.Previous research has mostly focused on effects of BSCs on soil water distribution or carbon and nitrogen fixation in the surface soil layer.Thus,little is known about effects of BSCs on properties throughout the soil profile.In the current study,we assessed the effects of BSCs on the distribution of soil water content(SW),soil organic carbon content(SOC)and soil total nitrogen content(STN)throughout the soil profile as well as the influence of water conditions on the effects of BSCs.Methods In a field investigation in Mu Us Sandland,North China,soil samples were taken from plots with and without BSCs on 13 and 28 September 2006,respectively.On the two sampling dates,average soil gravimetric water content was 3.83%(61.29%)and 5.08%(60.89%),respectively,which were regarded as low and high water conditions.Soil samples were collected every 5 cm to a depth of 60 cm,and SW,SOC and STN were measured in the laboratory.Important Findings(i)BSCs affected profile distribution of SW,SOC and STN.In addition,water conditions within the plots significantly modified BSCs’effects on the profile distribution of SW,but marginally affected the effects on SOC and STN.(ii)Under high water conditions,SW in the surface soil layer(0–10 cm)was higher in soils with BSCs compared to those without BSCs,while the opposite was true in the deep soil layer(30–55 cm).(iii)Under low water conditions,SW was lower with BSCs compared with no BSCs in near-surface(5–20 cm)and deep(25–40 cm)soil layers.(iv)BSCs affected SOC and STN only in the surface soil layer(0–5 cm)and were modified by plot water conditions. | Shuqin Gao Xuehua Ye Yu Chu Ming Dong | 2010 | Journal of Plant Ecology2010,3,4: | 4 |
