2Isolation and characterization of H7N9 viruses from live poultry markets--Implication of the source of current H7N9 infection in humans显示文摘On March 31, 2013, the National Health and Family Planning Commission announced that human infections with a previously undescribed influenza A (H7N9) virus had occurred in Shanghai and Anhui Province, China. To investigate the possible origins of the H7N9 viruses causing these human infections, we collected 970 samples, including drinking water, soil, and cloacal and tracheal swabs of poultry from live poultry markets and poultry farms in Shanghai and Anhui Province. Twenty samples were positive for the H7N9 influenza virus. Notably, all 20 viruses were isolated from samples collected from live poultry markets in Shanghai. Phylogenetic analyses showed that the six internal genes of these novel human H7N9 viruses were derived from avian H9N2 viruses, but the ancestor of their HA and NA genes is uncertain. When we examined the phylogenetic relationship between the H7N9 isolates from live poultry markets and the viruses that caused the human infections, we found that they shared high homology across all eight gene segments. We thus identified the direct avian origin of the H7N9 influenza viruses that caused the human infections. Importantly, we observed that the H7N9 viruses isolated from humans had acquired critical mutations that made them more 'human-like'. 3Clinical and biochemical indexes from 2019-nCoV infected patients linked to viral loads and lung injury显示文摘The outbreak of the 2019-nCoV infection began in December 2019 in Wuhan,Hubei province,and rapidly spread to many provinces in China as well as other countries.Here we report the epidemiological,clinical,laboratory,and radiological characteristics,as well as potential biomarkers for predicting disease severity in 2019-nCoV-infected patients in Shenzhen,China.All 12 cases of the 2019-nCoV-infected patients developed pneumonia and half of them developed acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).The most common laboratory abnormalities were hypoalbuminemia,lymphopenia,decreased percentage of lymphocytes (LYM) and neutrophils (NEU),elevated C-reactive protein (CRP) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH),and decreased CD8 count.The viral load of 2019-nCoV detected from patient respiratory tracts was positively linked to lung disease severity.ALB,LYM,LYM (%),LDH,NEU (%),and CRP were highly correlated to the acute lung injury.Age,viral load,lung injury score,and blood biochemistry indexes,albumin (ALB),CRP,LDH,LYM (%),LYM,and NEU (%),may be predictors of disease severity.Moreover,the Angiotensin Ⅱlevel in the plasma sample from 2019-nCoV infected patients was markedly elevated and linearly associated to viral load and lung injury.Our results suggest a number of potential diagnosis biomarkers and angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) drugs for potential repurposing treatment of 2019-nCoV infection.Yingxia Liu Yang Yang Cong Zhang Fengming Huang Fuxiang Wang Jing Yuan Zhaoqin Wang Jinxiu Li Jianming Li Cheng Feng Zheng Zhang Lifei Wang Ling Peng Li Chen Yuhao Qin Dandan Zhao Shuguang Tan Lu Yin Jun Xu Congzhao Zhou Chengyu Jiang Lei Liu 2020Science China(Life Sciences)2020,63,3:157

11Mantle xenoliths from Late Cretaceous basalt in eastern Shandong Province: New constraint on the timing of lithospheric thinning in eastern China显示文摘The age of the alkali basalt from Daxizhuang in Jiaozhou, eastern Shandong, was determined to be 73.5±0.3 Ma by 40Ar-39Ar technique. The basalt gave high eNd(t) values of +7.5 and +7.6, suggesting that the primitive magma was derived from depleted asthenospheric mantle with a formation depth of about 65—95 km. Spinel-lherzolite xenoliths have been discovered in the basalt. The Fo values of olivine from the xenoliths range from 88 to 89. The estimated equilibrium P-T conditions of spinel-lherzolite xenoliths are about 2.0 GPa and 1010—1140℃, suggesting an equilibrium depth of about 65 km. Geochemical characteristics of the Late Mesozoic (125—115 Ma) mantle-derived rocks in Shandong Province suggest an enriched lithospheric mantle along the southern margin of the North China block. However, geochemical characteristics of the Late Cretaceous basalts in Daxizhuang and the equilibrium P-T condition estimated from the xenoliths suggest that the lithosphere at 73 Ma ago was as thick as that of the Cenozoic in the region. Additionally, the xenoliths are rich in basaltic-component, suggesting a derivation from a newly-formed lithosphere. 13Effect of Long-Term Rice Straw Return on Soil Glomalin, Carbon and Nitrogen显示文摘A long-term experiment was conducted to investigate how long-term fertilization and rice straw incorporation into soil affect soil glomalin, C and N. The combined application of chemical fertilizer and straw resulted in a significant increase in both soil easily extractable glomalin (EEG) and total glomalin (TG) concentrations, as compared with application of only chemical fertilizer or no fertilizer application. The EEG and TG concentrations of the NPKS (nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium fertilizer application + rice straw return) plot were 4.68% and 5.67% higher than those of the CK (unfertilized control) plot, and 9.87% and 6.23% higher than those of the NPK (nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium fertilizer applied annually) plot, respectively. Application of only chemical fertilizer did not cause a statistically significant change of soil glomalin compared with no fertilizer application. The changes of soil organic C (SOC) and total N (TN) contents demonstrated a similar trend to soil glomalin in these plots. The SOC and TN contents of NPKS plot were 15.01% and 9.18% higher than those of the CK plot, and 8.85% and 14.76% higher than those of the NPK plot, respectively. Rice straw return also enhanced the contents of microbial biomass C (MBC) and microbial biomass N (MBN) in the NPKS plot by 7.76% for MBC and 31.42% for MBN compared with the CK plot, and 12.66% for MBC and 15.07% for MBN compared with the NPK plots, respectively. 16The efficacy and safety of endovascular recanalization of occluded large cerebral arteries during the subacute phase of cerebral infarction:a case series report显示文摘background Intravenous tissue plasminogen activator with or without mechanical thrombectomy during the acute phase are approved therapies for ischaemic stroke.Due to the short treatment time window(<6 hours)and often treatment failure,these patients would still have an intracranial arterial occlusion(IAO).It is unclear whether these patients can benefit from subsequent interventional recanalizationof their occluded artery in the subacute phase.In this retrospective study,we have examined the efficacy and safety in patients who have received either percutaneous transluminal angioplasty(PTA)or percutaneous transluminal angioplasty and stenting(PTAS)for IAO in the subacute phase of their stroke.Methods Patients with subacute symptomatic ischaemic stroke caused by IAO were assessed to identify the responsible artery and low perfusion areas by CT angiography,MR angiography or digital subtraction angiography.In eligible patients,a PTA or PTAS was performed to reopen the occluded artery.Regular antithrombotic therapy,use of statins,control of risk factors and rehabilitation therapy were prescribed after the procedure.All patients had regular follow-up up to 12 months.results PTA or PTAS was performed in 16 patients with cerebral infarction caused by IAO in the subacute phase.After the procedure,12 cases were recanalized,two were partially recanalized and two failed to open.One patient with left C6 segment occlusion of the carotid artery had a central retinal artery embolism after PTAS.The perioperative adverse events were 6.25%.At 3 months,the distribution of modified Rankin scale scores was 0(seven cases),1(three cases),2(five cases)and 3(one case).conclusion Selective PTA or PTAS could be performed in ischaemic stroke patients with a small infarct size and large area of hypoperfusion from an occluded large cerebral artery after the acute phase.It may improve neurological dysfunction and reduce the incidence of disability.Kangning Chen Xianhua Hou Zhenhua Zhou Guangjian Li Qu Liu Li Gui Jun Hu Shugui Shi 2017Stroke & Vascular Neurology2017,2,3:41
17A study on relationship of nitric oxide,oxidation,peroxidation,lipoperoxidation with chronic cholecystitis显示文摘AIM To study relationship of injury induced bynitric oxide,oxidation,peroxidation,lipoperoxidation with chronic cholecystitis.METHODS The values of plasma nitric oxide(P-NO),plasma vitamin C(P-VC),plasma vitamin E(P-VE),plasma β-carotene(P-β-CAR),plasmalipoperoxides(P-LPO),erythrocyte superoxidedismutase(E-SOD),erythrocyte catalase(E-CAT),erythrocyte glutathione peroxidase(E-GSH-Px)activities and erythrocyte lipoperoxides(E-LPO)level in 77 patients with chronic cholecystitisand 80 healthy control subjects were determined,differences of the above average values betweenthe patient group and the control group anddifferences of the average values betweenpreoperative and postoperative patients wereanalyzed and compared,linear regression andcorrelation of the disease course with the abovedetermination values as well as the stepwiseregression and correlation of the course with thevalues were analyzed.RESULTS Compared with the control group,theaverage values of P-NO,P-LPO,E-LPO weresignificantly increased(P<0.01),and of P-VC, P-VE,P-β-CAR,E-SOD,E-CAT and E-GSH-Pxdecreased(P<0.01)in the patient group.Theanalysis of the linear regression and correlationshowed that with prolonging of the course,thevalues of P-NO,P-LPO and E-LPO in the patientswere gradually ascended and the values of P-VC,P-VE,P-β-CAR,E-SOD,E-CAT and E-GSH-Pxdescended(P<0.01).The analysis of thestepwise regression and correlation indicated thatthe correlation of the course with P-NO,P-VE andP-β-CAR values was the closest.Compared withthe preoperative patients,the average values of P-NO,P-LPO and E-LPO were significantlydecreased(P<0.01)and the average values of P-VC,E-SOD,E-CAT and E-GSH-Px in postoperativepatients increased(P<0.01)in postoperativepatients.But there was no significant difference inthe average values of P-VE,P-β-CAR preoperativeand postoperative patients.CONCLUSION Chronic cholecystitis could inducethe increase of nitric oxide,oxidation,peroxidation and lipoperoxidation.Jun Fu Zhou Dong Cai You Gen Zhu Jin Lu Yang Cheng Hong Peng Yang Hai Yu 2000World Journal of Gastroenterology2000,6,4:36
18Design and engineering implementation of non-supplementary fired compressed air energy storage system: TICC-500显示文摘The integration and accommodation of the wind and solar energy pose great challenges on today’s power system operation due to the intermittent nature and volatility of the wind and solar resources.High efficient large-scale electrical energy storage is one of the most effective and economical solutions to those problems.After the comprehensive review of the existing storage technologies,this paper proposes an overall design scheme for the Non-supplementary Fired Compressed Air Energy Storage(NFCAES)system,including system design,modeling and efficiency assessment,as well as protection and control.Especially,the design principles of the multistage regenerative,i.e.heat recovery system which is used to fully recycle and utilize the waste heat from compression are provided,so as the overall system efficiency evaluation method.This paper theoretically ascertains the storage decoupling rules in the potential and internal energy of molecular compressed air and reveals the conversion mechanism of gas,heat,power,electricity and other forms of energy.On this basis,a 500-k W physical simulation system of CAES system(TICC-500,Tsinghua-IPCCAS-CEPRI-CAES)is built,which passed a system-wide 420-k W load power generation test with less pollution and zero carbon emissions.Besides,the multi-form energy conversion of multi-stage regenerative CAES and storage efficiency is verified,especially its incomparable superiority in solving the uncertainty problem in wind and solar power generation.Finally,the propaganda and application scenario of the CAES system in China is introduced.MEI Sheng Wei WANG Jun Jie TIAN Fang CHEN Lai Jun XUE Xiao Dai LU Qiang ZHOU Yuan ZHOU Xiao Xin 2015Science China(Technological Sciences)2015,58,4:37
19Prognostic factors and failure patterns in non-metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma after intensity-modulated radiotherapy显示文摘Background: The prognostic values of staging parameters require continual re?assessment amid changes in diag?nostic and therapeutic methods. This study aimed to identify the prognostic factors and failure patterns of non?meta?static nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC) in the intensity?modulated radiotherapy(IMRT) era.Methods: We reviewed the data from 749 patients with newly diagnosed, biopsy?proven, non?metastatic NPC in our cancer center(South China, an NPC endemic area) between January 2003 and December 2007. All patients under?went magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) before receiving IMRT. The actuarial survival rates were estimated using the Kaplan–Meier method, and survival curves were compared using the log?rank test. Multivariate analyses with the Cox proportional hazards model were used to test for the independent prognostic factors by backward eliminating insigniicant explanatory variables.Results: The 5?year occurrence rates of local failure, regional failure, locoregional failure, and distant failure were 5.4, 3.0, 7.4, and 17.4%, respectively. The 5?year survival rates were as follows: local relapse?free survival, 94.6%; nodal relapse?free survival, 97.0%; distant metastasis?free survival, 82.6%; disease?free survival, 75.1%; and overall survival, 82.0%. Multivariate Cox regression analysis revealed that orbit involvement was the only signiicant prognostic fac?tor for local failure(P = 0.011). Parapharyngeal tumor extension, retropharyngeal lymph node involvement, and the laterality, longest diameter, and Ho's location of the cervical lymph nodes were signiicant prognostic factors for both distant failure and disease failure(all P < 0.05). Intracranial extension had signiicant prognostic value for distant failure(P = 0.040).Conclusions: The key failure pattern for NPC was distant metastasis in the IMRT era. 2042,573 cases of hepatectomy in China: a multicenter retrospective investigation显示文摘Hepatectomy is currently routinely performed in most hospitals in China. China owns the largest population of liver diseases and the biggest number of liver resection cases. A nationwide multicenter retrospective investigation involving 112 hospitals was performed, and focused on liver resection for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). 42,573 cases of hepatectomy were enrolled, and 18,275 valid cases of liver resection for HCC patients were selected for statistical analysis. The epidemiology of HCC, distribution of hepatectomy, postoperative complications and prognosis were finally analyzed. In the 18,275 HCC patients,81% had hepatitis B virus infection and 10% had hepatitis C virus infection. 38% of the HCC patients had normal Alphafetoprotein(AFP) level, and other 35% had an AFP level lower than 400 ng mL^(-1). In the study period, 97% of the hepatectomy for HCC were treated with open surgery, and 23.81% had vascular exclusion techniques. The operation time was(191.7±105.6) min,the blood loss was(546.0±562.8) m L, and blood transfusion was(543.0±1,035.2) m L. The median survival for HCC patients was 631 days, with 1-, 3-, and 5-year overall survival of 73.2%, 28.8% and 19.6%, respectively.
