2Experimental study of two saturated natural soils and their saturated remoulded soils under three consolidated undrained stress paths显示文摘In this paper,an experimental investigation is conducted to study the mechanical behavior of saturated natural loess, saturated natural filling in ground fissure and their corresponding saturated remoulded soils under three consolidated undrained triaxial stress tests, namely, conventional triaxial compression test(CTC),triaxial compression test(TC)and reduced triaxial compression test(RTC).The test results show that stress-strain relation,i.e.strain-softening or strain-hardening,is remarkably influenced by the structure, void ratio, stress path and confining pressure.Natural structure, high void ratio,TC stress path,RTC stress path and low confining pressures are favorable factors leading to strain-softening.Excess pore pressure during shearing is significantly affected by stress path. The tested soils are different from loose sand on character of strain-softening and are different from common clay on excess pore water pressure behavior. The critical states in p′-q space in CTC,TC and RTC tests almost lie on one line, which indicates that the critical state is independent of the above stress paths. As for remoulded loess or remoulded filling, the critical state line(CSL)and isotropic consolidation line(ICL)in e-log p′space are almost straight, while for natural loess or natural filling,in e-log p′space there is a turning point on the CSL,which is similar to the ICL.Mingjing JIANG Haijun HU Jianbing PENG Serge LEROUEIL 2011Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering2011,5,2:1
3An Experimental and Numerical Study on the Ballistic Performance of Multi-Layered Moderately-Thick Metallic Targets against 12.7-mm Projectiles显示文摘Themain goal of this work is to study the ballistic performance ofmulti-layered moderately-thick metallic targets.Several target configurations have been considered in thiswork, with various types of interlayer connection(spaced, contacted and adhesive)and the number of layers(four and eight),and the influence of target configurations on ballistic performance has been studied experimentally and numerically. In the experiments, the targets were impacted by 12.7-mm projectiles at a velocity around 820 m/s.The experimental results show that, with similar total thickness, the contacted and adhesive targets exhibit better ballistic performance than the monolithic targets, and the four-layered targets are better than the eight-layered targets with the same connection type.To explore the ballistic resistance mechanism, numerical method has been used to simulate the penetration process of each target. The numerical results indicate that petal formation and friction have significant influence on targets’ballistic performance.Friction has stronger influence on themulti-layered targets than on themonolithic ones.According to the numerical results, about 14%of projectile’s initial kinetic energy is dissipated by friction during penetrating the four-layered contacted target, which is proved to be the most effective type of target studied in thiswork. The results also indicate that,in contrast to common understanding, friction plays an important role even when the impact velocity is significantly higher than the ballistic limit. The outcome of this work may provide useful information for a better understanding of ballistic resistant mechanisms and more efficient utilization of multi-layered metallic targets in armor structural design.Kailei Wang Mingjing Li Peng Yan Leiting Dong 2022Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2022,,4:0
4Cellularmetabolism: A key player in cancer ferroptosis显示文摘Cellular metabolism is the fundamental process by which cells maintain growth and self-renewal.It produces energy, furnishes raw materials, and intermedi-ates for biomolecule synthesis, and modulates enzyme activity to sustain normal cellular functions.Cellular metabolism is the foundation of cellular life processes and plays a regulatory role in various biological functions, including pro-grammed cell death.Ferroptosis is a recently discovered form of iron-dependent programmed cell death. The inhibition of ferroptosis plays a crucial role in tumorigenesis and tumor progression. However, the role of cellular metabolism, particularly glucose and amino acid metabolism,in cancer ferroptosis is not well understood. Here,we reviewed glucose, lipid, amino acid, iron and sele-nium metabolism involvement in cancer cell ferroptosis to elucidate the impact of different metabolic pathways on this process.Additionally,we provided a detailed overview of agents used to induce cancer ferroptosis. We explained that the metabolism of tumor cells plays a crucial role in maintaining intracellu-lar redox homeostasis and that disrupting the normal metabolic processes in these cells renders them more susceptible to iron-induced cell death, resulting in enhanced tumor cell killing. The combination of ferroptosis inducers and cel-lular metabolism inhibitors may be a novel approach to future cancer therapy and an important strategy to advance the development of treatments.Xianjie Jiang Qiu Peng Mingjing Peng Linda Oyang Honghan Wang Qiang Liu Xuemeng Xu Nayiyuan Wu Shiming Tan Wenjuan Yang Yaqian Han Jinguan Lin Longzheng Xia Yanyan Tang Xia Luo Jie Dai Yujuan Zhou Qianjin Liao 2024Cancer Communications2024,44,2:0
