| 1 | Incidence and risk factors of retinopathy of prematurity and utility of the national screening criteria in a tertiary center in Iran显示文摘AIM: To determine the incidence and risk factors of retinopathy of prematurity(ROP) and the sensitivity of current screening criteria in a tertiary eye center in Tehran, Iran. METHODS: In a cross-sectional observational study, neonates weighing ≤2000 grams at birth or born <34 wk gestational age(GA) and all other infants at risk of ROP admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit(NICU) or referred to our ROP clinic were investigated. The incidence of ROP and severe ROP(i.e. patients needing treatment) were determined. The associations between risk factors and the development and severity of ROP were assessed. We also examined the sensitivity of the current national screening guideline in Iran. RESULTS: Among 207 infants, the incidence of ROP and severe ROP was 33.3% and 11.1%, respectively. Mean GA and birth weight(BW) were significantly lower in ROP vs non-ROP infants(29±2 wk vs 33±3 wk, P<0.001;1274±489 g vs 1916±550 g, P<0.001, respectively). Univariate analysis displayed significant association between ROP incidence and GA, BW, NICU admission period, blood transfusion, surfactant usage, sepsis, intraventricular hemorrhage and patent ductus arteriosus(P<0.05 for all). BW [relative risk(RR): 0.857(0.711-0.873), P<0.001], GA [RR: 0.788(0.711-0.873), P<0.001] and blood transfusion [RR: 1.888(0.995-3.583), P=0.052] were independent ROP risk factors. The sensitivity of country-specific screening guidelines was 95.7% and 100% for overall and severe ROP detection, respectively. CONCLUSION: ROP incidence is relatively high in Iran. Identifying ROP risk factors results in more accurate screening and reduces the risk of irreversible vision loss. The ROP screening criteria utilized in Iran are efficient at the present time. | Milad Khorshidifar Homayoun Nikkhah Alireza Ramezani Morteza Entezari NarsisDaftarian Hamid Norouzi Mansoor Shahiari Mitra Radfar Ramin Norinia Saeed Karimi | 2019 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2019,12,8: | 6 |
| Mohammad Ali KARIMI Morteza SHAMANIAN Mohammad Hossein ENAYATI | 2021 | Transactions of Nonferrous Metals Society of China2021,31,10: | 2 |

| 5 | Shoreline spatial and temporal response to natural and human effectsin Boujagh National Park, Iran显示文摘Shoreline variation and river deltas are among the most dynamic systems in marine environments. The related different variations in spatial and temporal scales play significant roles in land planning and different management applications. Modeling the dynamics of seashore of Boujagh National Park(BNP)which is located on the southern coast of the Caspian Sea in the Sefidrud Delta(SD), considering natural and anthropogenic factors, was the main objective of the current study. To achieve this goal, a combination of remote sensing data, historical data, and numerical simulations was utilized. The BNP covers an area of 3,270 ha and includes two international wetlands, Boujagh and Kiashahr. In earlier periods, this area faced severe morphological changes whereas recently its shoreline has experienced gradual variations. Accordingly, at the first stage, the shoreline variation from 2006 to 2017 was extracted by processing and classifying Operational Land Imager(OLI) and Thematic Mapper(TM) images from Landsat satellites using the Maximum Likelihood approach. In the second stage, the two dimensional MIKE21 model was utilized to identify wave and coastal current patterns and parameters for the year 2015.Morphologically, the results showed that, the shoreline of the BNP is affected by several natural and anthropogenic factors. Seaward advancement of the shoreline occurred in zones A(east zone) and C(west zone) due to Caspian Sea Level drop and sedimentation while retreating occurred at Zone B(north zone) influenced by wave and current patterns and reduction of the Sefidrud River flows. Also, the results imply that maintaining the existing conditions results in the disappearance of a considerable part of the ecological area in the BNP. Hence, to manage and preserve the coastline of the BNP complying with the current anthropogenic and natural factors, it is vital to take necessary management measures. | Morteza Karimi Jamal Mohammad Vali Samani Mehdi Mazaheri | 2021 | International Journal of Sediment Research2021,36,5: | 0 |
| 6 | Jadwar(Delphinium denudatum Wall.):a medicinal plant显示文摘Delphinium denudatum Wall.is one of the important medicinal herbs of traditional Persian medicine and is known as Jadwar.Medicinal plants are the most widely used drugs in traditional Persian medicine and has been used for various diseases since earlier times. The medicinal uses of Delphinium denudatum Wall.date back to over 1,000 years ago.Rhazes(845–925 C.E.)was the first Persian physician and scientist who reported the use of Delphinium denudatum Wall.as a herbal remedy.During the following centuries, the usages of Delphinium denudatum Wall.in the treatment of various diseases has been mentioned in the books and references of traditional Persian medicine for cures to various diseases such as neurologic and psychiatric disease, gastrointestinal disease, fever, pain, and poisoning.According to modern studies, the dried roots of Delphinium denudatum Wall.have antipyretic, antimicrobial, anticonvulsant, hepatoprotective, antioxidant, and pain-relieving properties.Biomolecules from roots of Delphinium denudatum Wall.were also identified as potential cures for central nervous system diseases as well as for the amelioration of morphine addiction.Delphinium denudatum Wall.,with its properties involving the prevention of mitochondrial dysfunction, reduction of oxidative stress, and inflammation and immune dysregulation, can be utilized in curing inflammatory disorders. The effective therapeutic influence of root extract of Delphinium denudatum Wall.against several diseases needs to be confirmed through controlled clinical trials. This article reviews the different features of Delphinium denudatum Wall.and focuses on the well-known therapeutic effects of this herbal drug on various human disorders and animal disease models. | Roghayeh Baghervand Navid Mehrdad Karimi Morteza Ghojazadeh Seyed Mostafa Araj-Khodaei Alireza Bagherzadeh karimi Sanam Dolati Mehri Bansans Seyed Mohammad Bagher Fazljou | 2020 | Traditional Medicine Research2020,5,6: | 0 |
