| 4 | Evaluating role of bone marrow-derived stem cells in dry age-related macular degeneration using multifocal electroretinogram and fundus autofluorescence imaging显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the role of bone marrow-derived stem cells in the treatment of advanced dry age-related macular degeneration(AMD) using multifocal electroretinogram(mf-ERG) and fundus autofluorescence imaging.METHODS:Thirty patients(60 eyes) with bilateral central geographic atrophy(GA) were recruited.Worse eye of each patient received autologous bone marrow-derived hematopoietic stem cells(BM-HSCs)(group 1) and the fellow eye with better visual acuity served as control(group 2).The effect of stem cell therapy was determined in terms of visual acuity,amplitude and implicit time in mf-ERG and size of GA on fundus autofluorescence imaging.These tests were performed at presentation and first,third and sixth month follow up.Adverse events(if any) were also monitored.RESULTS:At 6 mo follow-up there was no statistically significant improvement in median log MAR best corrected visual acuity(BCVA) in either group.Mf-ERG revealed significant improvement in amplitude and implicit time in the intervention group.A significant decrease was also noted in greatest linear dimension(GLD) of GA in the eyes receiving stem cells [6.78±2.60 mm at baseline to 6.56±2.59 mm at 6 mo(P=0.021)].However,no such improvement was noted in the control group.CONCLUSION:Electrophysiological and anatomical improvement in the intervention group sheds light on the therapeutic role of BM-HSCs.Further studies are required to determine the stage of disease at which the maximal benefit can be achieved and to standardize the dose and frequency of stem cell injection. | Atul Kumar Neha Midha Sujata Mohanty Annu Chohan Tulika Seth Varun Gogia Shikha Gupta | 2017 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2017,10,10: | 1 |

| 11 | The association of inherited variation in the CLOCK gene with breast cancer tumor grade显示文摘Background:Sufficient sleep and maintenance of circadian rhythm are important to health.We have shown that short duration of sleep before diagnosis is associated with higher-grade tumors among breast cancer patients.Earlier studies suggest that genetic variation in the CLOCK gene is associated with risk of cancers,including breast cancer.Studies of the association of genetic variation,including in CLOCK,and tumor grade,a standard marker of tumor aggressiveness,are lacking.Methods:We investigated the relationship between single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)in the CLOCK gene and tumor grade and estrogen receptor,progesterone receptor,and human epi-dermal growth factor receptor 2 status in 293 breast cancer patients.Nine SNPs were determined by standard TaqMan assays.Tumor grade,receptor status,and other clinical variables were abstracted from medical records.Results:Two SNPs were excluded because of poor genotyping performance.None of the remaining seven variants had a statistically significant association with breast cancer tumor grade or with receptor status.Conclusion:As with all novel studies,further work is needed to examine the association of CLOCK and other genes in the circadian rhythm pathway with breast cancer tumor grade in other populations. | Neha Gupta Li Li Cheryl L.Thompson | 2017 | Family Medicine and Community Health2017,5,2: | 0 |

| 13 | Outbreak of Salmonella Typhi enteric fever in sub-urban area of North India:A public health perspective显示文摘Outbreaks of enteric fever are a major health concern not only due to significant human morbidity and mortality but also fear of spread of multidrug resistant strains.We report an outbreak of enteric fever caused by Salmonella enterica serotype Typhi in a suburban area,in city Chandigarh of North India.Twenty-seven strains of S.typhi were isolated from blood cultures over a period of two weeks with 18 of these 27 patients residing in the same area.Maximum cases were in the age group 5-14 years(10 patients,55.5%) while 4(22.2%) cases were children under 5 years.All the strains showed similar resistogram being resistant to ampicillin and nalidixic acid,intermediate to ciprofloxacin and sensitive to chloramphenicol,ceftriaxone,cefotaxime,cotrimoxazole and azithromycin on disc diffusion testing.Minimum inhibitory concentration of ciprofloxacin was determined by agar dilution method and was found to be raised(≥2μg/mL).This nalidixic acid resistant S.typhi outbreak report warrants the necessity of implementing stringent sanitation practices in public health interest. | Nidhi Singla Neha Bansal Varsha Gupta Jagdish Chander | 2013 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2013,6,2: | 0 |

| 17 | 肠结核与克罗恩病差异表达基因的全基因分析及FOXP3 mRNA表达的鉴别价值显示文摘背景:克罗恩病(CD)和肠结核(ITB)是有着相似表型的慢性肉芽肿性疾病,因此,找到一种生物标志物来鉴别这两种疾病是必要的。本研究旨在对ITB和CD的结肠标本进行全基因表达分析。同时,为了评价调节性T细胞的作用,我们对血清标本及结肠标本进行FOXP3 mRNA定量检测。方法:收集33名研究对象(CD患者、ITB患者及正常对照)血清和结肠组织配对样本,提取标本中的总RNA。采用Illumina HumanWG-6 BeadChip试剂盒对3组研究对象中的6种总RNA样本进行人类全基因组表达芯片分析。采用real-time PCR对具有合格RNA样本的病例(CD 4例,ITB 5例,正常对照4例)血清和组织标本进行FOXP3 mRNA表达水平检测。结果:在CD和ITB患者中,分别有92和382个基因表达上调1.5倍,91和256个基因表达下调1.5倍。过氧化物酶体增殖物介导的PPARγ信号通路在CD中下调最为显著(P<0.005);此外,IL4/5/6信号通路和Toll样受体信号通路也存在显著差异表达,上调2倍以上。而在ITB患者上调最为显著是补体活化通路尤其是经典通路。ITB患者结肠组织标本中FOXP3 mRNA表达水平明显高于CD患者(4.7062.21 vs 1.4860.31,P=0.016)。结论:结肠黏膜FOXP3 mRNA表达可作为鉴别ITB与CD的一项标志物。ITB患者补体激活通路的上调提示ITB的发病机制与肺结核相似。CD患者中PPARγ通路的下调提示PPARγ依赖的微生物屏障功能可能成为新的治疗靶点。 | Vineet Ahuja Swati Subodh Amit Tuteja Veena Mishra Sushil Kumar Garg Neha Gupta Govind Makharia SK Acharya | 2016 | Gastroenterology Report2016,4,1: | 0 |
| 18 | Emerging peril of post-dengue mucormycosis:A case report显示文摘Rationale:Dengue fever is a leading cause of death in tropical and subtropical countries.Although most patients have a self-limited febrile illness,the viral infection can induce virus-mediated host changes,making immunocompetent persons susceptible to deadly fungal infections.However,there are only a few reports of such an association.Here we present a case of this deadly co-infection.Patient’s Concern:A 17-year-old male patient was diagnosed with dengue fever.He presented to us with facial swelling,periorbital edema,and black discoloration over the palate during the second week of his illness.Diagnosis:Diagnostic tests confirmed the presence of fungal hyphae.A diagnosis of post-dengue mucormycosis was made.No other comorbidity or underlying immune deficit was detected.Interventions:The patient underwent surgical debridement and antifungal treatment.Outcomes:The patient recovered and showed signs of palatal healing with an advancing mucosal edge.Lessons:Dengue virus and mucor co-infection has brought to light a new pathogenic paradigm.Clinicians need to be aware of this emerging medical condition and maintain a high index of suspicion for mucor co-infections while treating dengue patients. | Neha Verma Neelima Gupta Vashi Gupta Smita Nath | 2023 | Journal of Acute Disease2023,12,1: | 0 |
