| 13 | Agnuside Reduces Visceral Adipocyte Size,Improves Insulin Sensitivity and Reverses Hepatic Steatosis in Ovariectomized Rats显示文摘This study aimed to investigate the effects of agnuside(AGN),a phytoestrogen in Vitex agnus-castus,on cellular and metabolic alterations induced by ovariectomy in rats.Ovariectomized(OVX)Wistar rats were used as an animal model of postmenopausal metabolic syndrome. The visceral and subcutaneous adipocyte sizes, the peripheral insulin sensitivity and the occurrence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)and liver oxidative damage were evaluated. The results were compared with those obtained from control rats(sham-operated)and OVX rats treated daily with AGN.Obese OVX rats exhibited visceral adipocyte hypertrophy and developed glucose intolerance, hyperinsulinemia,NAFLD and dyslipidemia.AGN exerted beneficial effects on several metabolic parameters in OVX rats, including the improvement in glucose intolerance, hyperinsulinemia and NAFLD.Besides,AGN promoted a general improvement in the liver redox state.Although the reduction of the mesenteric adipocyte size is very likely to be an important mode of action of AGN,some actions of AGN could also involve the interaction with estrogen receptors. | Franciele Neves Moreno Eduardo Hideo Gilglioni Rosangela Fernandes Garcia Naiara Cristina Lucredi Sandra Mara Ferreira Nilton Almeida Brito Marcia do Nascimento Brito Emy Luiza Ishii-Iwamoto Clairce Luzia Salgueiro-Pagadigorria | 2019 | Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology2019,7,4: | 0 |
| 14 | Environmental and Durability Perspective of the Use of Curaua Fiber Treated in Mortars显示文摘The use of natural lignocellulosic fibers(NLFs)as a reinforcement mechanism for cementitious composites, such as mortar, has been investigated in the last decades. However, their application has often been restricted to technological evaluation research.A NLF with great potential the curaua, which after treatment with NaOH solution, proved to be technologically feasible for mortars reinforcement based on cement and lime. The objective of this research was the comparative evaluation between a traditional mortar, based on cement and lime, with 1:1:6:0.8 ratio of cement:lime:sand:water, and a modified mortar with addition of 2 wt.%treated curaua fiber in cement mass by evaluating environmental and durability aspects. After a curing time for 28 days, environmental assessments were carried out and durability methodologies were evaluated. The tests performed were:(i)attack by chlorides and sulfate,(ii)the wetting and drying cycles, and(iii)slake durability test. The results showed that the mortar with the addition of curaua fiber presented a similar behavior to the reference mixture, both in terms of environmental and durability aspects. This modified mortar is able to be used in internal and external environments, the latter with some conditions.Besides,it also contributes to the promotion of sustainable use of curaua fiber. | Afonso R.G.de Azevedo Marcelo Nascimento Dirlane do Carmo Markssuel T.Marvila Gustavo de C.Xavier Sergio Neves Monteiro | 2022 | Journal of Renewable Materials2022,10,9: | 0 |
| 15 | Physical activity and emotions in a period of social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic显示文摘Social distancing(SD)to prevent SARS-CoV-2(COVID-19)transmission reduced practices of physical activities(PA)and changed emotional conditions, but the relationship between PA and the emotions has to be further studied. This study aimed to analyze PA and the intensity of basic emotions during a period of social distancing in the State of S~ao Paulo,Brazil.Data collection was performed using the snowball system and an online survey with questions about the minimum weekly frequency of 30-min moderate and/or vigorous activities(MVPA),intensity of basic emotions, and sociodemographic profile.A total of 704 volunteers participated;mean age 38.113.4 years,67.9%female,82.0%insufficiently practiced MVPA,and 37.9%of the group reported no weekly PA.Anxiety/fear was the emotion with the highest intensity in the study period.A significant association was observed between PA and intensity of happiness(rho=0.125;p<0.01)and a negative association between PA practice and intensity of anxiety/fear(rho=-0.090;p<0.05),sadness(rho=-0.134;p<0.01),and anger(rho?0.109;p<0.01).Also,an association was observed between anxiety/fear and social isolation(rho=0.082;p<0.05).These results suggest that public policies offering PA programs and psychological care are required to improve the quality of life of the population. | Raphaela Espanha Corrêa Paulo Eduardo Neves Ferreira Velho Rafael do Prado Calazans Calvino Camargo Rute Estanislava Tolocka | 2022 | Sports Medicine and Health Science2022,4,3: | 0 |

| 17 | Yield of surgery in solid pseudopapillary neoplasms of the pancreas: A case series and literature review显示文摘BACKGROUND Solid pseudopapillary neoplasms(SPN)of the pancreas represents approximately 2%of non-endocrine tumors of the pancreas. It is described in the literature as a rare and predominant tumor in young women.AIM To report a case series with SPN and analyzing clinical, surgical, anatomopathological characteristics,as well as the prognosis and review of literature.METHODS Retrospective analysis of patients undergoing surgery, with histological diagnosis of SPN between 1998 and 2018,using standardized and prospectively completed forms, performed at the Surgery Service of the Upper Digestive System at Hospital São Rafael/Rede D’Or in Salvador-BA.Review of literature through a database search in MEDLINE/PubMed of retrospective articles.RESULTS Fourteen female patients with the average age of 31.6 years(range min-max)were selected.Twelve patients(85.7%)were asymptomatic, being an incidental diagnosis or due to screening for other reasons. One patient had abdominal pain due to gastric compression and another patient had jaundice. The 14 patients were staged with computerized tomography or magnetic resonance imaging.None had evidence of metastasis. In 8 patients(57.1%),the tumor was in the tail and body. The average size was 6.7 cm(range min-18).The type of surgery was according to the anatomical location of the tumor. There was no lymph node involvement. In two cases, vascular resection with the use of a prosthesis was required for reconstruction. The surgical margins were free.In all cases, postoperative immunohistochemistry confirmed that it was a solid pseudo-papillary neoplasia of the pancreas. There has been no disease recurrence in any case so far.CONCLUSION The tumors had a benign, indolent and histopathological behavior compatible with the literature.Curative surgery is recommended in all cases. | Flávio Silano Ricardo Bandeira de Melo Amaral Rodolfo Carvalho Santana Vanessa Costa Neves JoséCelso Ardengh Paulo Cezar Galvão do Amaral | 2021 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology2021,13,6: | 0 |
