| 2 | Mechanisms simultaneously regulate smooth muscle proliferation and differentiation显示文摘Vascular smooth muscle cell(VSMC) differentiation and proliferation are two important physiological processes during vascular development.The phenotypic alteration from differentiated to proliferative VSMC contributes to the development of several major cardiovascular diseases including atherosclerosis,hypertension,restenosis after angioplasty or bypass,diabetic vascular complications,and transplantation arteriopathy.Since the VSMC phenotype in these pathological conditions resembles that of developing VSMC during embryonic development,understanding of the molecular mechanisms that control VSMC differentiation will provide fundamental insights into the pathological processes of these cardiovascular diseases.Although VSMC differentiation is usually accompanied by an irreversible cell cycle exit,VSMC proliferation and differentiation occur concurrently during embryonic development.The molecular mechanisms simultaneously regulating these two processes,however,remain largely unknown.Our recent study demonstrates that cell division cycle 7,a key regulator of cell cycle,promotes both VSMC differentiation and proliferation through different mechanisms during the initial phase of VSMC differentiation.Conversely,Krüppel-like factor 4 appears to be a repressor for both VSMC differentiation and proliferation.This review attempts to highlight the novel role of cell division cycle 7 in TGF-β-induced VSMC differentiation and proliferation.The role of Krüppel-like factor 4 in suppressing these two processes will also be discussed. | Ning Shi Shi-You Chen | 2014 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2014，28，1： | 45 |
| 3 | Programmable time-domain digital-coding metasurface for non-linear harmonic manipulation and new wireless communication systems显示文摘Optical non-linear phenomena are typically observed in natural materials interacting with light at high intensities, and they benefit a diverse range of applications from communication to sensing. However,controlling harmonic conversion with high efficiency and flexibility remains a major issue in modern optical and radio-frequency systems. Here, we introduce a dynamic time-domain digital-coding metasurface that enables efficient manipulation of spectral harmonic distribution. By dynamically modulating the local phase of the surface reflectivity, we achieve accurate control of different harmonics in a highly programmable and dynamic fashion, enabling unusual responses, such as velocity illusion. As a relevant application, we propose and realize a novel architecture for wireless communication systems based on the time-domain digital-coding metasurface, which largely simplifies the architecture of modern communication systems, at the same time yielding excellent performance for real-time signal transmission. | 5 | Stenting for symptomatic intracranial arterial stenosis in China:1-year outcome of a multicentre registry study显示文摘background and purpose A multicentre prospective registry study of individually tailored stenting for a patient with symptomatic intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis(ICAS)combined with poor collaterals in China showed that the short-term safety and efficacy of stenting was acceptable.However,it remained uncertain whether the low event rate could be of a long term.We reported the 1-year outcome of this registry study to evaluate the long-term efficacy of individually tailored stenting for patients with severe symptomatic ICAS combined with poor collaterals.Methods Patients with symptomatic ICAS caused by 70%-99% stenosis located at the intracranial internal carotid,middle cerebral,intracranial vertebral or basilar arteries combined with poor collaterals were enrolled.Balloon-mounted stent or balloon plus self-expanding stent were selected based on the ease of vascular access and lesion morphology determined by the operators.The primary outcome was the rate of 30-day stroke,transient ischaemic attack and death,and 12-month ischaemic stroke within the same vascular territory,haemorrhagic stroke and vascular death after stenting.results From September 2013 to January 2015,300 patients(ages 58.3±9.78 years)were recruited.Among them,159 patients were treated with balloon-mounted stent and 141 with balloon plus self-expanding stent.During the 1-year follow-up,25 patients had a primary end point event.The probability of primary outcome at 1 year was 8.1%(95% CI 5.3% to 11.7%).In 76 patients with digital subtraction angiography follow-up,27.6%(21/76)had re-stenosis≥50% and 18.4%(14/76)had re-stenosis≥70%.No baseline characteristic was associated with the primary outcome.Conclusion The event rate remains low over 1 year of individually tailored stenting for patients with severe symptomatic ICAS combined with poor collaterals.Further randomised trial of comparing individually tailored stenting with best medical therapy is needed. | Ning Ma Yong Zhang Jie Shuai Changchun Jiang Qiyi Zhu Kangning Chen Li Liu Baomin Li Xiangqun Shi Lianbo Gao Yajie Liu Feng Wang Yongli Li Tieyan Liu Hongbo Zheng Dapeng Mo Feng Gao Yilong Wang Yongjun Wang Lei Feng Zhongrong Miao | 2018 | Stroke & Vascular Neurology2018，3，3： | 29 |
| 6 | Sleep and Cognitive Abnormalities in Acute Minor Thalamic Infarction显示文摘In order to characterize sleep and the cognitive patterns in patients with acute minor thalamic infarction(AMTI), we enrolled 27 patients with AMTI and 12 matched healthy individuals. Questionnaires about sleep and cognition as well as polysomnography(PSG) were performed on days 14 and 90 post-stroke. Compared to healthy controls, in patients with AMTI, hyposomnia was more prevalent; sleep architecture was disrupted as indicated by decreased sleep efficiency, increased sleep latency, and decreased non-rapid eye movement sleep stages 2 and 3;more sleep-related breathing disorders occurred; and cognitive functions were worse, especially memory. While sleep apnea and long-delay memory recovered to a large extent in the patients, other sleep and cognitive function deficit often persisted. Patients with AMTI are at an increased risk for hyposomnia, sleep structure disturbance,sleep apnea, and memory deficits. | 8 | Hydrogen sulfide regulates abiotic stress tolerance and biotic stress resistance in Arabidopsis显示文摘Hydrogen sulfide(H_2S) is an important gaseous molecule in various plant developmental processes and plant stress responses.In this study,the transgenic Arabidopsis thaliana plants with modulated expressions of two cysteine desulfhydrases,and exogenous H_2S donor(sodium hydrosulfide,NaHS) and H_2S scavenger(hypotaurine,HT) pre-treated plants were used to dissect the involvement of H_2S in plant stress responses.The cysteine desulfhydrases overexpressing plants and NaHS pre-treated plants exhibited higher endogenous H_2S level and improved abiotic stress tolerance and biotic stress resistance,while cysteine desulfhydrases knockdown plants and HT pre-treated plants displayed lower endogenous H_2S level and decreased stress resistance.Moreover,H_2S upregulated the transcripts of multiple abiotic and biotic stress-related genes,and inhibited reactive oxygen species(ROS) accumulation.Interestingly,MIR393-mediated auxin signaling including MIR393a/b and their target genes(TIR1,AFB1,AFB2,and AFB3) was transcriptionally regulated by H_2S,and was related with H_2S-induced antibacterial resistance.Moreover,H_2S regulated 50 carbon metabolites including amino acids,organic acids,sugars,sugar alcohols,and aromatic amines.Taken together,these results indicated that cysteine desulfhydrase and H_2S conferred abiotic stress tolerance and biotic stress resistance,via affecting the stress-related gene expressions,ROS metabolism,metabolic homeostasis,and MIR393-targeted auxin receptors. | Haitao Shi Tiantian Ye Ning Han Hongwu Bian Xiaodong Liu Zhulong Chan | 2015 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2015，57，7： | 26 |

| 10 | Features of the EAP events on the medium-range evolution process and the mid-and high-latitude Rossby wave activities during the Meiyu period显示文摘In this paper,features for the evolution of the East Asia/Pacific(EAP) events and their association with high-and mid-latitude Rossby waves during the Meiyu period are analyzed on the medium-range time scale.It is shown that life cycles of the positive and negative EAP events cannot be simply regarded as 'mirror' each other.In the upper troposphere,downward propagations of Rossby wave packets both over high-and mid-latitude regions of Eurasian continent and over the Asian jet region are responsible for generating basic patterns of high-and mid-latitude anomaly centers of the events.In this layer,Rossby wave packets also propagate from the mid-latitude anomaly center to the high-latitude one.In the middle and lower troposphere,the formation of the subtropical anomaly center of the event is mainly attributed to the anomalous convective activity in the tropical Pacific warm pool.The northward Rossby wave energy dispersion from this center is favorable to the enhancement and maintenance of the mid-latitude anomaly center in the same layer.Finally,it might be hypothesized that typical features of the positive and negative EAP events in their mature phase result from the interaction between(or phase-locking of) respective anomalous circulations induced both by quasi-zonal Rossby wave packets embedded in upper troposphere westerly and by quasi-meridional Rossby wave packets in the background flow of the East Asian summer monsoon in the middle and lower troposphere. | BUEH Cholaw SHI Ning JI LiRen WEI Jie TAO ShiYan | 2008 | Chinese Science Bulletin2008，53，4： | 23 |
| 11 | Climate change regionalization in China(1961–2010)显示文摘Since climatic condition is the important foundation for human subsistence and development and the key factor in sustainable development of economy and society, climate change has been a global issue attracting great attentions of politicians, scientists, governments, and the public alike throughout the world. Existing climate regionalization in China aims to characterize the regional differences in climate based on years of the mean value of different climate indexes. However, with the accelerating climate change nowadays, existing climate regionalization cannot represent the regional difference of climate change, nor can it reflect the disasters and environmental risks incurred from climate changes. This paper utilizes the tendency value and fluctuation value of temperature and precipitation from 1961 to 2010 to identify the climate change quantitatively, and completes the climate change regionalization in China(1961–2010) with county administrative regionalization as the unit in combination with China's terrain feature. | 14 | Association between Ambient Air Pollution and Hospital Emergency Admissions for Respiratory and Cardiovascular Diseases in Beijing: a Time Series Study显示文摘Objective To investigate the association between ambient air pollution and hospital emergency admissions in Beijing. Methods In this study, a semi-parametric generalized additive model(GAM) was used to evaluate the specific influences of air pollutants(PM10, SO2, and NO2) on hospital emergency admissions with different lag structures from 2009 to 2011, the sex and age specific influences of air pollution and the modifying effect of seasons on air pollution to analyze the possible interaction. Results It was found that a 10 μg/m3 increase in concentration of PM10 at lag 03 day, SO2 and NO2 at lag 0 day were associated with an increase of 0.88%, 0.76%, and 1.82% respectively in overall emergency admissions. A 10 μg/m3 increase in concentration of PM10, SO2 and NO2 at lag 5 day were associated with an increase of 1.39%, 1.56%, and 1.18% respectively in cardiovascular disease emergency admissions. For lag 02, a 10 μg/m3 increase in concentration of PM10, SO2 and NO2 were associated with 1.72%, 1.34%, and 2.57% increases respectively in respiratory disease emergency admissions. | 17 | Placement of prophylactic pancreatic stents to prevent post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography pancreatitis in high-risk patients: A meta-analysis显示文摘AIM:To assess the effectiveness of pancreatic stents for preventing pancreatitis in high-risk patients after endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP).METHODS:PubMed,Embase,Science Citation Index,and Cochrane Controlled Trials Register were searched to identify relevant trials published in English.Inclu-sion and exclusion criteria were used to screen for suitable studies.Two reviewers independently judged the study eligibility while screening the citations.The methodological quality of the included trials was assessed using the Jadad scoring system.All results were expressed as OR and 95%CI.Data were analyzed using Stata12.0 software.RESULTS:Ten eligible randomized controlled trials were selected,including 1176 patients.A fixed-effects model in meta-analysis supported that pancreatic duct stents significantly decreased the incidence of postERCP pancreatitis(PEP)in high-risk patients(OR=0.25;95%CI:0.17-0.38;P<0.001).Pancreatic stents also alleviated the severity of PEP(mild pancreatitis after ERCP:OR=0.33;95%CI:0.21-0.54;P<0.001;moderate pancreatitis after ERCP:OR=0.30;95%CI:0.13-0.67;P=0.004).The result of severe pancreatitis after ERCP was handled more rigorously(OR=0.24;95%CI:0.05-1.16;P=0.077).Serum amylase levels were not different between patients with pancreatic stents and control patients(OR=1.08;95%CI:0.82-1.41;P=0.586).CONCLUSION:Placement of prophylactic pancreatic stents may lower the incidence of post-ERCP pancreatitis in high-risk patients and alleviate the severity of this condition. | Qing-Qing Shi Xiao-Yi Ning Ling-Ling Zhan Guo-Du Tang Xiao-Ping Lv | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014，20，22： | 15 |
