2Characterization of 500 Chinese patients with cervical esophageal cancer by clinicopathological and treatment outcomes显示文摘Objective: There are no comprehensive studies on survival outcomes and optimal treatment protocols for cervical esophageal cancer(CEC), due to its rare clinical prevalence. Our objective was to determine the relationship between pathological characteristics, treatment protocols, and survival outcomes in Chinese CEC patients.Methods: A total of 500 Chinese CEC patients were selected from our 500,000 esophageal and gastric cardia carcinoma database(1973–2018). There were two main groups: patients treated with surgery, and patients receiving non-surgical treatments(radiotherapy, radiochemotherapy, and chemotherapy). The Chi-square test and Kaplan–Meier method were used to compare the continuous variables and survival.Results: Among the 500 CEC patients, 278(55.6%) were male, and the median age was 60.9 ± 9.4 years. A total of 496 patients(99.2%) were diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma. In 171(34.2%) patients who received surgery, 22(12.9%) had undergone laryngectomy. In 322(64.4%) patients who received non-surgical treatments, 245(76.1%) received radiotherapy. Stratified survival analysis showed that only T stage was related with survival outcomes for CEC patients in the surgical group, and the outcomes between laryngectomy and non-laryngectomy patients were similar. It was noteworthy that the 5-year survival rate was similar in CEC patients among the different groups treated with surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, or radiochemotherapy(P = 0.244). Conclusions: The CEC patients had similar survival outcomes after curative esophagectomy and radiotherapy, including those with or without total laryngectomy. 3Polydopamine and ammonium bicarbonate coated and doxorubicin loaded hollow cerium oxide nanoparticles for synergistic tumor therapy显示文摘The development of effective nanoplatforms is extremely necessary for cancer therapy.Herein,we prepared polydopamine(PDA)andammonium bicarbonate(NH4HCO3)coated and doxorubicin(Dox)loaded hollow cerium oxide(CeO2)NPs(PDAC NPs),which showedexcellent synergistic effect for photothermal therapy,chemotherapy and chemodynamic therapy.Under near infrared laser irradiation,PDA shell could absorb the incident light and convert it into heat,which could not only kill tumor cells with hyperthermia,but also trigger thedecomposition of NH4HCO3 into gaseous carbon dioxide and ammonia,leading to the destroy of PDA shell.The leakage of PDA furtheraccelerated Dox release and exposed CeO2 surface,in which Dox could enter into cell nucleus to induce chemotherapy,and CeO2 couldcatalyze cellular hydrogen peroxide into hydroxyl radical to present chemodynamic therapy.In fact,PDAC NPs showed an excellenttherapeutic efficacy both in vitro and in vivo.This design provides a new strategy for synergistic tumor therapy.Keqiang Xu Yan Cheng Jiao Yan Yanlin Feng Runxiao Zheng Xiaqhig Wu Yanjing Wang Panpan Song Haiyuan Zhang 2019Nano Research2019,12,12:4
4Flow characteristics of tangential leakage in a scroll compressor for automobile heat pump with CO_(2)显示文摘Tangential leakage loss reduction has great significance on improving the performance of scroll compressors.In this study,the flow field of a scroll compressor working with CO_(2) was numerically investigated.The development characteristics of the tangential leakage flow in different working chambers were carried out,which was obtained by analyzing the field quantities distributions.The impacts of the radial clearances and sidewall roughness on the tangential leakage were also taken into consideration,in order to explore the feasible method of the flow control for the tangential leakage in scroll compressors.Results showed that the tangential leakage flow had various characteristics in the suction and compression chambers due to the different interactions between the tangential leakage flow and mainstream.Owing to little reverse pressure gradient,the tangential leakage flow maintained the typical jet form in the suction chambers.By contrast,the mixing of the tangential leakage flow and mainstream induced the passage vortex and secondary flows in the compression chamber.The secondary flow was the primary factor that results in the occurrence of localized high temperature region rather than the tangential leakage.With the increase of the radial clearance,the volumetric efficiency declined and the discharge temperature increased rapidly.In terms of flow control of the tangential leakage,the increase of sidewall roughness by 2μm could achieve the same effect as the decrease of the radial clearance by 4μm,while the volumetric efficiency increased by almost 5%and average discharge temperature decreased by 5K.ZHENG SiYu WEI MingShan HU ChenXing SONG PanPan TIAN Ran 2021Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,5:4
5Geochemistry of arsenic and selenium in a Ge-poor coal from the Wulantuga coal-hosted Ge ore deposit,Inner Mongolia,North China显示文摘This paper reports new data for arsenic(As)and selenium(Se)in a total of twelve bench samples of Ge-rich and Ge-poor coals in the No.6 coal seam from the Wulantuga ore deposit,Inner Mongolia,Northeastern China.The Gepoor coals are characterized by low-ash(with a weighted average ash yield 10.59%).The coal samples were digested using an UltraClave microwave high pressure reactor(milestone)and trace elements were detected by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry—collision/reaction cell technology,a reliable method for As and Se determination in coal samples.The contents of As and Se in the Ge-poor(with a weighted average content of 9.14 and 0.30 lg/g,respectively)and Ge-rich coal samples in the present study(varies from 16.88 to 17,776 lg/g and from 0.26 to 14.39 lg/g,respectively)are in a sharp contrast.The As in the Ge-poor coals is of both organic-and pyrite-associations,and its enrichment is attributed to the sediment source,and to a lesser extent,to hydrothermal fluids.Se is predominantly connected with organic matter in the Wulantuga Ge-poor coals.Panpan Xie Qingqian Li Jingjing Liu Hongjian Song Jianpeng Wei 2014International Journal of Coal Science & Technology2014,1,4:3
6Experimental study of a micro-scale solar organic Rankine cycle system based on compound cylindrical Fresnel lens solar concentrator显示文摘In the present study, a micro-scale solar organic Rankine cycle power generation system was developed. The system comprises of a solar collection system based on compound cylindrical Fresnel lens concentrator and an organic Rankine cycle power generation system integrated with a scroll expander. YD320 and R245 fa were used as the heat transfer fluid and the working fluid, respectively. The effects of the evaporation pressure, the degree of superheat, and the mass flow rate of the working fluid were analyzed to evaluate the solar collection efficiency, the electric power output, the thermal efficiency and exergy efficiency of the system. The results illustrate that both the increasing evaporation pressure and decreasing superheat degree have positive impacts on solar collection efficiency. The electric power increases as the evaporation pressure increases, while the thermal efficiency and the exergy efficiency decrease. However, the system overall efficiency decreases slowly due to the increase of solar collection efficiency. The electric power increases with the increment of the working fluid mass flow rate. The increasing mass flow rate has no visible impact on the thermal and exergy efficiencies of organic Rankine cycle subsystem, whereas a slightly increase of the thermal and exergy efficiencies of the integrated system. The electric power decreases with the increase of the superheat degree, whereas the thermal and the exergy efficiencies of the system increase. 8An artificial chromosome for data storage显示文摘DNA digital storage provides an alternative for information storage with high density and long-term stability.Here,we report the de novo design and synthesis of an artificial chromosome that encodes two pictures and a video clip.The encoding paradigm utilizing the superposition of sparsified error correction codewords and pseudo-random sequences tolerates base insertions/deletions and is well suited to error-prone nanopore sequencing for data retrieval.The entire 254 kb sequence was 95.27%occupied by encoded data.The Transformation-Associated Recombination method was used in the construction of this chromosome from DNA fragments and necessary autonomous replication sequences.The stability was demonstrated by transmitting the data-carrying chromosome to the 100 th generation.This study demonstrates a data storage method using encoded artificial chromosomes via in vivo assembly for write-once and stable replication for multiple retrievals,similar to a compact disc,with potential in economically massive data distribution.Weigang Chen Mingzhe Han Jianting Zhou Qi Ge Panpan Wang Xinchen Zhang Siyu Zhu Lifu Song Yingjin Yuan 2021National Science Review2021,8,5:3

10Ultrathin FeS nanosheets with high chemodynamic activity for sensitive colorimetric detection of H_(2)O_(2) and glutathione显示文摘Iron chalcogenides have attracted great interest as potential substitutes of nature enzymes in the colorimetric biological sensing due to their unique chemodynamic characteristics.Herein,we report the preparation of ultrathin Fe S nanosheets(NSs)by a simple one-pot hydrothermal method and the prepared Fe S NSs exhibit strong Fenton-reaction activity to catalyze hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2))for generation of hydroxyl radical(^(·)OH).Based on the chromogenic reaction of resultant^(·)OH with 3,3,5,5-tetramethylbenzidine(TMB),we develop colorimetric biosensors for highly sensitive detection of H_(2)O_(2)and glutathione(GSH).The fabricated biosensors show wide linear ranges for the detection of H_(2)O_(2)(5–150μmol/L)and GSH(5–50μmol/L).Their detection limits for H_(2)O_(2)and GSH reach as low as0.19μmol/L and 0.14μmol/L,respectively.The experimental results of sensing intracellular H_(2)O_(2)and GSH demonstrate that this colorimetric method can realize the accurate detection of H_(2)O_(2)and GSH in normal cells(L02 and 3T3)and cancer cells(MCF-7 and He La).Our results have demonstrated that the synthesized Fe S NSs is a promising material to construct colorimetric biosensors for the sensitive detection of H_(2)O_(2)and GSH,holding great promising for medical diagnosis in cancer therapy.Yefan Duan Qi Li Panpan He Yan Li Jingrun Song Jing Wang Junjie Liu Jiang Zhou Fei Chen Zhusheng Huang Jianfei Sun Ying Zhang Zhimin Luo 2022Chinese Chemical Letters2022,33,6:2
11Deep eutectic solvent-based polymer electrolyte for solid-state lithium metal batteries显示文摘Poly(ethylene) oxide(PEO)-based electrolytes have been widely studied for solid-state lithium batteries while their ionic conductivity and lithium-ion transference number still need to be further improved.Herein, using the combined experimental and theoretical approach, we demonstrate a novel, solidstate PEO-deep eutectic solvent(DES) electrolyte for the first time. We found that the in situ formation of DES can reduce the crystallinity of PEO matrix and more Li+ions can move freely owing to the weakened coordination between ether oxygens and Li-ions. Besides, we show that more Li+ions can be dissociated from Li salts in PEO-DES electrolyte using the molecular dynamics simulations. Such liquid-free PEO-DES electrolytes showed good ionic conductivity(2.1 × 10^(-4) S cm^(-1)) which is 160% higher than that of conventional PEO-Li TFSI(8.1 × 10^(-5) S cm^(-1)) electrolyte at 60 ℃. Additionally, the PEO-DES electrolyte showed 136% increase of Li-ion transference number(0.33) compared with ionic liquid-doped PEO-Li TFSI(0.14) at 60 ℃. Moreover, the PEO-DES exhibited good compatibility with Li metal and stable Li plating/stripping behavior with little morphology change of Li metal. 14Coral-like carbon-based composite derived from layered structure Co-MOF-71 with outstanding impedance matching and tunable microwave absorption performance显示文摘Metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)are considered as a novel type of microwave absorption(MA)material owing to the sufficient pore structure,diverse configurations,and easy-to-control magnetic properties.However,their evolution is limited by the imperfect impedance matching conditions caused by the undesirable microstructure.Herein,two types of novel porous coral-like carbon/Co_(3)O_(4)and carbon/Co composites have been effectively fabricated for the first time by a facile heat treatment process of precursor Co-MOF-71.The graphitization degree,magnetic property and MA ability of the product can be effortlessly tuned by altering the heat treatment temperature of Co-MOF-71.Remarkably,S500(Co-MOF-71 calcined at 500℃)composite displays strong and multi-frequency absorption performance,whose minimum reflection loss(RL)value achieves-36.4 d B with an absorbing thickness of 3.0 mm and attains an effective absorbing bandwidth(RL≤-10 dB)of 5.76 GHz(almost covers whole Ku band)at a thinner coating thickness of 2.5 mm.Such superb MA ability has roots in the coral-like structure derived from the layer Co-MOF-71,sufficient electromagnetic loss.This work ameliorates the MA ability of MOFs through a special nanostructural design,which provides a fresh way for the preparation of novel MA materials.Panpan Zhou Meng Wang Zhi Song Yongkang Guan Lixi Wang Qitu Zhang 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,13:1

18Chronic Exposure to Environmentally Relevant Concentrations of Tetracycline Perturbs Gut Homeostasis in Zebrafish显示文摘The prevalence of residual antibiotics is a global threat to human health.Less is known about the potential health effects of residual antibiotics in freshwater systems.Here,zebrafish were used to explore chronic effects of environmentally relevant concentrations(ERCs)of tetracycline(TC).Although chronic exposure to TC did not significantly alter the body weight of adult zebrafish,the exposed zebrafish parents exhibited substantial changes in gut microbiota composition and a reduced gut-weight ratio.Notably,male fish exposed to TC showed a significant decline of critical intestinal function-related metabolites(i.e.,triglycerides,glucose,and free fat acid),while this was not observed in females,resulting in sex-dependency.The gut microbial composition of chronically exposed zebrafish parents changed substantially,but the disruption was not transferred to their respective offspring without exposure.However,the perturbation of insulinrelated signaling pathways caused by TC exposure was not attenuated in the zebrafish offspring after removal of TC exposure.Taken together,our findings suggest that chronic exposure to TC disturbs gut microbial communities and metabolism and exerts chronic effects on the insulin/IGF-1 mediated signaling cascades,implying that exposure to antibiotics not only leads to the selection of resistant microbes but also poses long-term deleterious health risks for the next generation.Panpan Jia Shun Deng Xiaoxing Lin Liyan Song Yangqing Wang De-Sheng Pei 2023Environment & Health2023,1,4:0
19Conjugation with Acridines Turns Nuclear Localization Sequence into Highly Active Antimicrobial Peptide显示文摘The emergence of multidrug-resistant bacteria creates an urgent need for alternative antibiotics with new mechanisms of action. In this study, we synthesized a novel type of antimicrobial agent, Ac r_3-NLS, by conjugating hydrophobic acridines to the N-terminus of a nuclear localization sequence(NLS), a short cationic peptide. To further improve the antimicrobial activity of our agent, dimeric(Acr_3-NLS)_2 was simultaneously synthesized by joining two monomeric Acr_3-NLS together via a disulfide linker. Our results show that Acr_3-NLS and especially(Acr_3-NLS)_2 display signifi cant antimicrobial activity against gramnegative and gram-positive bacteria compared to that of the NLS. Subsequently, the results derived from the study on the mechanism of action demonstrate that Acr_3-NLS and(Acr_3-NLS)_2 can kill bacteria by membrane disruption and DNA binding. The double targets—cell membrane and intracellular DNA—will reduce the risk of bacteria developing resistance to Acr_3-NLS and(Acr_3-NLS)_2. 20Investigation of electrical performance of impregnation resin material for superconducting magnet显示文摘With the development of superconducting technology, the electrical performance of insulating materials is drawing increasing concern. This paper is devoted to investigating resin materials and aims to test the resin requirements of impregnating procedures and design curing molds. First, the samples are prepared, and then the power-frequency breakdown, lighting surges, relative dielectric constant, and loss angle tangent of the impregnation resin are measured at room temperature and liquid nitrogen temperature.
