4Meta-analysis and its application in global change research显示文摘Meta-analysis is a quantitative synthetic research method that statistically integrates results from in- dividual studies to find common trends and differences. With increasing concern over global change, meta-analysis has been rapidly adopted in global change research. Here, we introduce the methodolo- gies, advantages and disadvantages of meta-analysis, and review its application in global climate change research, including the responses of ecosystems to global warming and rising CO2 and O3 concentrations, the effects of land use and management on climate change and the effects of distur- bances on biogeochemistry cycles of ecosystem. Despite limitation and potential misapplication, meta-analysis has been demonstrated to be a much better tool than traditional narrative review in synthesizing results from multiple studies. Several methodological developments for research synthe- sis have not yet been widely used in global climate change researches such as cumulative meta-analysis and sensitivity analysis. It is necessary to update the results of meta-analysis on a given topic at regular intervals by including newly published studies. Emphasis should be put on multi-factor interaction and long-term experiments. There is great potential to apply meta-analysis to global climate change research in China because research and observation networks have been established (e.g. ChinaFlux and CERN), which create the need for combining these data and results to provide support for governments’ decision making on climate change. 5Bayesian mechanism for rational secret sharing scheme显示文摘We consider the cooperation of rational parties in secret sharing. We present a new methodology for rational secret sharing both in two-party and multi-party settings based on Bayesian game. Our approach can resolve the impossible solutions to a rational secret sharing model. First, we analyze the 2-out-of-2 rational secret sharing using Bayesian game, which makes us able to consider different classes of the protocol player(for'good' and 'bad' players) and model attributes such as any other parties' preferences and beliefs that may affect the outcome of the game. Thus, the new model makes us able to reason rational secret sharing from the perspective of Bayesian rationality, a notion that may be in some scenarios more appropriate than that defined as per pure rational. According to these analyses, we propose a Bayesian rational protocol of 2-out-of-2 secret sharing. 6An novel identification method of the environmental risk sources for surfacewater pollution accidents in chemical industrial parks显示文摘The chemical industry is a major source of various pollution accidents. Improving the management level of risk sources for pollution accidents has become an urgentdemand for most industrialized countries. In pollution accidents, the released chemicals harm the receptors to some extentdepending on their sensitivity or susceptibility. Therefore, identifying the potential risk sources from such a large number of chemical enterprises has become pressingly urgent. Based on the simulation of thewhole accident process, a novel and expandable identification method for risk sources causingwater pollution accidents is presented. The newlydeveloped approach, by analyzing and stimulating thewhole process of a pollution accident between sources and receptors, can be applied to identify risk sources, especially on the nationwide scale. Three major types of losses, such as social, economic and ecological losses,were normalized, analyzed and used for overall consequence modeling. A specific case study area, located in a chemical industry park (CIP) along the Yangtze River in Jiangsu Province, China,was selected to test the potential of the identification method. The results showed that therewere four risk sources for pollution accidents in this CIP. Aniline leakage in the HS Chemical Plantwould lead to the most serious impact on the surroundingwater environment. This potential accidentwould severelydamage the ecosystem up to3.8 kmdownstream of Yangtze River, and lead to pollution over adistance stretching to 73.7 kmdownstream. 7Physiological effects of weightlessness: countermeasure system development for a long-term Chinese manned spaceflight显示文摘The Chinese space station will be built around 2020. As a national space laboratory, it will offer unique opportunities for studying the physiological effects of weightlessness and the efficacy of the countermeasures against such effects. In this paper, we described the development of countermeasure systems in the Chinese space program. To emphasize the need of the Chinese space program to implement its own program for developing countermeasures, we reviewed the literature on the negative physiological effects of weightlessness, the challenges of completing missions, the development of countermeasure devices, the establishment of countermeasure programs, and the efficacy of the countermeasure techniques in American and Russian manned spaceflights. 8Correlation of CD105 and Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor in Laser-induced Choroidal Neovascularization in Rats显示文摘Purpose: Choroidal neovascularization (CNV) plays an important role in pathogenesis of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), ocular histoplasmosis syndrome (OHS) and so on. However, mechanisms of CNV formation are not fully understood. The aim of this study is to investigate the correlation between expressions of CD105 and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in experimental laser-induced CNV in rats. Methods: CNV model was established by 532 nm laser photocoagulation in Brown-Norway rats. The expression of CD105 and VEGF in CNV was observed by immunohistochemistry at 3, 7, 14, 21, 28 and 56 days after laser photocoagulation. The image analysis was performed with the professional software of Image-Pro Plus. Results: Fluorescein angiography showed fluorescein leakage in CNV from days 7 to 56 after photocoagulation. VEGF expression was mainly observed in vascular endothelial cells, ganglion cells, inner nuclear layers and retinal pigment epithelial cells in normal retina and vascular endothelial cells in normal choroid of the rats. On day 3 after photocoagulation, VEGF began to express in laser-induced lesions. VEGF was strongly expressed in CNV after 7 days (P<0.05) and decreased after 14 days (P>0.05). CD105 was initially presented in CNV at 7 days and obviously expressed at 14 days after photocoagulation (P<0.05). Four weeks later, when angiogenesis tended toward inactive status, expression of CD105 was markedly decreased (P>0.05). There was notablely direct correlation between CD105-positive-microvessel density and positively semiquantitative scoring of VEGF in the CNV(r=0.989, P<0.01). Conclusions: There is direct correlation between the expression of CD105 and VEGF in the laser-induced CNV in rat. 10RNA-binding protein LIN28B inhibits apoptosis through regulation of the AKT2/FOXO3A/BIM axis in ovarian cancer cells显示文摘LIN28B is an evolutionarily conserved RNA-binding protein that regulates mRNA translation and miRNA let-7 maturation in embryonic stem cells and developing tissues.Increasing evidence demonstrates that LIN28B is activated in cancer and serves as a critical oncogene.However,the underlying molecular mechanisms of LIN28B function in tumorigenesis are still largely unknown.Here we report that LIN28B was expressed in over half of the patients with epithelial ovarian cancer who were examined(n=584).Functional experiments demonstrated that LIN28B inhibited ovarian cancer cell apoptosis.Furthermore,we showed that the proapoptotic factor BIM played an essential role in the antiapoptotic function of LIN28B.RNA-IP microarray analysis suggested that LIN28B binds to mRNAs that are associated with the DNA damage pathway,such as AKT2,in ovarian cancer cells.By binding to AKT2 mRNA and enhancing its protein expression,LIN28B regulated FOXO3A protein phosphorylation and decreased the transcriptional level of BIM,which antagonized the antiapoptosis activity of LIN28B.Taken together,these results mechanistically linked LIN28B and the AKT2/FOXO3A/BIM axis to the apoptosis pathway.The findings may have important implications in the diagnosis and therapeutics of ovarian cancer.Xiaojuan Lin Jianfeng Shen Dan Peng Xinhong He Congjian Xu Xiaojun Chen Janos LTanyi Kathleen Montone Yi Fan Qihong Huang Lin Zhang Xiaomin Zhong 2018Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2018,3,1:8
11Dark matter direct search sensitivity of the PandaX-4T experiment显示文摘The Panda X-4T experiment, a 4-ton scale dark matter direct detection experiment, is being planned at the China Jinping Underground Laboratory. In this paper we present a simulation study of the expected background in this experiment. In a 2.8-ton fiducial mass and the signal region between 1-10 keV electron equivalent energy, the total electron recoil background is found to be 4.9 × 10^(-5) kg^(-1) d^(-1) keV^(-1). The nuclear recoil background in the same region is 2.8 × 10^(-7) kg^(-1) d^(-1) keV^(-1). 15Pharmacological Activation of RXR-a Promotes Hematoma Absorption via a PPAR-y-dependent Pathway After Intracerebral Hemorrhage显示文摘Endogenously eliminating the hematoma is a favorable strategy in addressing intracerebral hemorrhage(ICH).This study sought to determine the role of retinoid X receptor-ot(RXR-a)in the context of hematoma absorption after ICH.Our results showed that pharmacologically activating RXR-a with bexarotene significantly accelerated hematoma clearance and alleviated neurological dysfunction after ICH.RXR-ot was expressed in microglia/macro-phages,neurons,and astrocytes.Mechanistically,bexarotene promoted the nuclear translocation of RXR-a and PPAR-y,as well as reducing neuroinflammation by modulating microglia/macrophage reprograming from the Ml into the M2 phenotype.Furthermore,all the beneficial effects of RXR-a in ICH were reversed by the PPAR-y inhibitor GW9662.In conclusion,the pharmacological activation of RXR-a confers robust neuroprotection against ICH by accelerating hematoma clearance and repolarizing microglia/macrophages towards the M2 phenotype through PPAR-y-related mechanisms.Our data support the notion that RXR-ot might be a promising therapeutic target for ICH.Chaoran Xu Huaijun Chen Shengjun Zhou Chenjun Sun Xiaolong Xia Yucong Peng Jianfeng Zhuang Xiongjie Fu Hanhai Zeng Hang Zhou Yang Cao Qian Yu Yin Li Libin Hu Guoyang Zhou Feng Yan Gao Chen Jianru Li 2021Neuroscience Bulletin2021,37,10:4
16Comparison and modeling of two biofilm processes applied to decentralized wastewater treatment显示文摘In order to control water pollution in the rapidly urbanizing South China area,biological contact oxidation(BCO)process and biological aerated filter(BAF)process were applied in a pilot-scale experiment for decentralized wastewater treatment.An investigation to find the optimal parameters of the two biofilm systems was conducted on hydraulic loading,organic loading,and aeration rate.The results indicated that the water reuse criteria required a maximum hydraulic and organic loading of 30.0 m^(3)/(m^(2)·d)and 4.0 kg COD/(m^(3)·d),respectively,as well as a minimum effluent DO of 4.0 mg/L.The utilization of a new media allowed BAF to perform better than BCO.The kinetic description of the COD removal process for BAF and BCO are Se=S0e^(-0.639t)/(1+1.035t),and S_(e)=S_(0)/[(1+0.947t)(1+1.242t)],respectively.The correlativity analysis showed that the two models could predict the effluent water quality based on the hydraulic retention time.Thus,the appropriate hydraulic loading for certain effluent water quality demands could be determined.The two models could be applied to wastewater treatment practice.Guanglei QIU Liancheng XIANG Yonghui SONG Jianfeng PENG Ping ZENG Peng YUAN 2009Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2009,3,4:4
17Multi-proxy evidence for Late Pleistocene-Holocene climatic and environmental changes in Lop-Nur,Xinjiang,Northwest China显示文摘A 10.35-m-long sediment core from the Luobei depression in Lop-Nur,Xinjiang,Northwest China,provides detailed information about environmental changes during the Late Pleistocene.The samples taken every 5 cm of the core were analyzed for 10 environmental proxies,including magnetic susceptibility,granularity,chroma,carbonate and loss on ignition(LOI),and pH value.The chronology data are provided by the uranium/thorium disequi-librium dates.The sediments of the section were deposited during the last 32000 years.The results of analysis of 10 proxies were examined using multivariate statistical analysis,and the principal components were calculated.According to the results,the Late Pleistocene sequence contains four climatic and environmental stages appearing in the cycles of cold-wet and warm-dry changes.During 10-9 ka BP,it was the earliest warm episode in the Holocene.Environmental changes in this district were restricted by global change,as suggested by the analysis of glacial-interglacial cycles.But it was different from the mutative trend of a monsoon region in East China because of its own characteristics,which was the situation of cold-wet and warm-dry climate-environment change.The candidate reason may be the uplift of the Tibet Plateau and the westerly wind circulation.LUO Chao YANG Dong PENG Zicheng ZHANG Zhaofeng LIU Weiguo HE Jianfeng ZHOU Chenlin 2008Chinese Journal Of Geochemistry2008,27,3:3
18Phosphate recovery from anaerobic digester effluents using CaMg(OH)_4显示文摘Dolomite lime(DL)(CaMg(OH)_4) was used as an economical source of Mg^(2+)for the removal and recovery of phosphate from an anaerobic digester effluent of a municipal wastewater treatment plant(MWWTP) wastewater. Batch precipitation results determined that phosphate was effectively reduced from 87 to less than 4 mg-P/L when the effluent water was mixed with 0.3 g/L of DL. The competitive precipitation mechanisms of different solids in the treatment system consisting of Ca^(2+)–Mg^(2+)–NH_4^+–PO_4^(3-)CO_3^(2-)were determined by comparing model predictions with experimental results. Thermodynamic model calculations indicated that hydroxyapatite(Ca_(10)(PO_4)_6(OH)_2), Ca_4H(PO_4)_3?3H_2O, Ca_3(PO_4)_2(beta), and Ca_3(PO_4)_2(am2)were more stable than struvite(MgNH_4PO_3?6H_2O) and calcite(CaCO_3). However, X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis determined the formation of struvite and calcite minerals in the treated effluent. Kinetic experimental results showed that most of the phosphate was removed from synthetic effluent containing NH_4^+within 2 hr, while only 20% of the PO_4^(3-)was removed in the absence of NH_4^+after 24 hr of treatment. The formation of struvite in the DL-treated effluent was due to the rapid precipitation rate of the mineral. The final pH of the DL-treated effluent significantly influenced the mass ratio of struvite to calcite in the precipitates. Because more calcite was formed when the p H increased from 8.4 to 9.6, a p H range of 8.0–8.5 should be used to produce solid with high PO_4^(3-)content. 20Flexible ITO-free organic solar cells over 10% by employing drop-coated conductive PEDOT:PSS transparent anodes显示文摘Highly conductive poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene-sulfonic acid)(PEDOT:PSS) has been explored to fabricate flexible and stretchable conductors. Generally, PEDOT:PSS transparent anodes are prepared by spin-coating method. In this article, we adopt a method by dropping PEDOT:PSS aqueous solution on the PET plastic substrate to fabricate flexible electrodes. Compared with spin coating, drop-coating is simple and cost-effective with large-area fabrications. Through this method, we fabricated highly transparent conductive electrodes and systematically studied their electrical, optical, morphological and mechanical properties. With dimethyl sulfoxide/methanesulfonic acid(DMSO/MSA) treated PEDOT:PSS electrode,bendable devices based on non-fullerene system displayed an open-circuit voltage of 0.925 V, a fill factor of 70.74%, and a high power conversion efficiency(PCE) of 10.23% under 100 mW cm^(-2) illumination, which retained over 80% of the initial PCE value after 1000 bending cycles.
