| 1 | Compound Gaoziban tablet(复方高滋斑片) alleviates depression via toll-like receptor 4/myeloid differentiation factor 88/nuclear factor-kappa B pathway显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of compound Gaoziban tablet(复方高滋斑片, CGZBT) on depression, and to investigate the underlying mechanism. METHODS: The components of CGZBT were analysed by high-performance liquid chromatography. Then, we assessed the effects of varying doses of CGZBT on an established chronic unpredictable mild stress(CUMS) model in rats. Whether animals were depressed was evaluated by sucrose preference test, open field test and forced swimming test. Neurotransmitters of hippocampus were detected by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. Serum levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α), interleukin(IL)-1β, IL-6, IL-4, and IL-10 were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Expressions of toll-like receptor 4(TLR4), myeloid differentiation factor 88(My D88), phospho-nuclear factorkappa B(p-NF-κB), cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2), ionized calcium binding adapter molecule-1(IBA-1) were assessed by immunohistochemical staining and western blotting. RESULTS: Eight compounds were identified from CGZBT, moreover, our results showed that CGZBT effectively reversed the CUMS-induced decrease in sucrose preference, shortened the movement distance and prolonged immobility time. CGZBT significantly increased levels of 5-hydroxytryptamine, dopamine, norepinephrine, 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid levels, and reduced the expression of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, yet increased IL-4 and IL-10. Furthermore, the expressions of TLR4, My D88, COX-2, p-NF-κB and IBA-1 in hippocampus were effectively reversed after treatment with CGZBT. | 3 | Colon hydrotherapy plus Traditional Chinese Medicine to treat non-alcoholic fatty liver disease:a pilot study显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To demonstrate the potential to treat non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) with colon hydrotherapy(CHT) plus Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM).METHODS: A total of 20 patients were enrolled into the study and received CHT with TCM for 2 weeks.Body mass index(BMI) and levels of serum triglycerides(TG) and total cholesterol(TC) were compared between pre-treatment and post-treatment.RESULTS: Two-week treatment with CHT plus TCM significantly lowered BMI and reduced blood lipids.BMI decreased from 29.5 ± 4.3 to 25.4 ± 1.0, while mean TG levels decreased by 0.70 mmol/L on average from baseline and mean TC levels decreased by0.37 mmol/L. Forty-five percent of patients exhibited TC decreasing by more than 10% from baseline and25%ofpatientsexhibited TCdecreasingbymore than 20%. Sixty percent of patients exhibited TG decreasing by more than 20% and 20% of patients exhibited TG decreasing by more than 40%. However,high-density and low-density lipoprotein cholester-ol levels did not change significantly after intervention. | 5 | Sound radiation attenuation by circular total-reflection elastic metasurface composed of subunits with cubic profiles显示文摘Utilizing metamaterials or acoustic black holes(ABHs)to control wave propagation and then to realize vibration control and sound radiation attenuation is a hot topic in recent years.However,using elastic metasurfaces that possess similar wave manipulation abilities with metamaterials and ABHs to attenuate sound radiation has not been reported yet.In this paper,a circular total-reflection elastic metasurface(CTREM)composed of subunits with cubic profiles similar with ABHs is proposed to realize vibration isolation and achieve broadband sound radiation attenuation of a plate below the cut-on frequency of the ABH.Compared with the corresponding bare plate and the plate containing a single ABH with a conventional design,the sound radiation efficiencies of the CTREM plate within and outside the vibration isolation band are both substantially attenuated.This phenomenon can be attributed to two distinct mechanisms:the total reflection of flexural waves caused by vibration isolation,and the local resonances of subunits.Analyses of the wavenumber spectra obtained from normal vibration velocities of the CTREM plate,both experimentally and numerically,along with the supersonic intensity patterns,reveal that the confined vibration energies are subsonic components localized within ineffective sound radiation areas.This,in turn,reduces the coupling strength of sound and vibration,thereby significantly attenuating sound radiation efficiency.The proposed CTREM provides a lossless and lightweight method for sound radiation attenuation. | Feng LIU Zhichun YANG Pengtao SHI Yizhou SHEN Yanlong XU | 2023 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2023,36,11: | 0 |
| 6 | Rapid Identification of a Candidate Gene Related to Fiber Strength Using a Superior Chromosome Segment Substitution Line from Gossypium hirsutum × Gossypium barbadense via Bulked Segregant RNA-Sequencing显示文摘Cotton is the most widely cultivated commercial crop producing natural fiber around the world.As a critical trait for fiber quality,fiber strength principally determined during the secondary wall thickening period.Based on the developed BC5F3:5 CSSLs(chromosome segment substitution lines)from Gossypium hirsutum CCRI36×G.barbadense Hai 1,the superior MBI9915 was chosen to construct the secondary segregated population BC7F2 with its recurrent parent CCRI36,which was subsequently subjected to Bulk segregant RNA-sequencing(BSR-seq)for rapid identification of candidate genes related to fiber strength.A total of 4 fiber-transcriptome libraries were separately constructed and sequenced,including two parents(CCRI36 and MBI9915)and two extreme pools at 20 DPA(days post anathesis).Through multiple comparisons,536 DEGs(differentially expressed genes)were overlapped at 20 DPA.Allelic-polymorphism comparison in mRNA sequences revealed 831 highly probable SNPs between two extreme pools related to fiber strength.Linkage analysis was performed between two extreme pools with SNP-index method.Eighteen correlated regions with 1981 annotation genes were obtained between two pools at 20 DPA,of which 12 common DEGs were similarly identified both between two parents and two pools.One gene(Gh_A07G0837)in the candidate region related to fiber strength was differentially expressed in both parents and extreme pools and involved in fiber strength development through reactive oxygen species(ROS)activity.Co-expression analysis of Gh_A07G0837 showed that Gh_A07G0837 may cooperate with other genes to regulate fiber strength.The reliability of BSR-seq results was validated by the quantitative real-time PCR(qRT-PCR)experiments on 5 common DGEs 20 DPA.Co-expressed analysis results indicated that there were some genes expressed especially low in MBI9915,resulting in good fiber strength.Focusing on bulked segregant analysis on the extreme pools derived from superior CSSL population,this study indicates that BSR-seq can be efficiently applied on rapid identification of candidate genes related to fiber strength,which make contributions to our understanding of fiber quality formation in cotton. | Qi Zhang Pengtao Li Aiying Liu Shaoqi Li Quanwei Lu Qun Ge Junwen Li Wankui Gong Xiaoying Deng Haihong Shang Yuzhen Shi Youlu Yuan | 2021 | Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2021,90,3: | 0 |

| 8 | Genome-wide identification,characterization,and expression analysis of aluminum-activated malate transporter genes(ALMTs)in Gossypium hirsutum L.显示文摘Aluminum-activated malate transporters(ALMT)are widely involved in plant growth and metabolic processes,including adaptation to acid soils,guard cell regulation,anion homeostasis,and seed development.Although ALMT genes have been identified in Arabidopsis,wheat,barley,and Lotus japonicus,little is known about its presence in Gossypium hirsutum L.In this study,ALMT gene recognition in diploid and tetraploid cotton were done using bioinformatics analysis that examined correlation between homology and evolution.Differentially regulated ALMT genetic profile in G.hirsutum was examined,using RNA sequencing and qRT-PCR,during six fiber developmental time-points,namely 5 d,7 d,10 d,15 d,20 d,and 25 d.We detected 36 ALMT genes in G.hirsutum,which were subsequently annotated and divided into seven sub-categories.Among these ALMT genes,34 had uneven distribution across 14/26 chromosomes.Conserved domains and gene structure analysis indicated that ALMT genes were highly conserved and composed of exons and introns.The GhALMT gene expression profile at different DPA(days post anthesis)in different varieties of G.hirsutum is indicative of a crucial role of ALMT genes in fiber development in G.hirsutum.This study provides basis for advancements in the cloning and functional enhancements of ALMT genes in enhancing fiber development and augmenting high quality crop production. | QUANWEI LU YUZHEN SHI RUILI CHEN XIANGHUI XIAO PENGTAO LI JUWU GONG RENHAI PENG YOULU YUAN | 2022 | BIOCELL2022,46,5: | 0 |
