| 1 | Advances in engineered Bacillus subtilis biofilms and spores, and their applications in bioremediation, biocatalysis, and biomaterials显示文摘Bacillus subtilis is a commonly used commercial specie with broad applications in the fields of bioengineering and biotechnology.B.subtilis is capable of producing both biofilms and spores.Biofilms are matrix-encased multicellular communities that comprise various components including exopolysaccharides,proteins,extracellular DNA,and poly-γ-glutamic acid.These biofilms resist environmental conditions such as oxidative stress and hence have applications in bioremediation technologies.Furthermore,biofilms and spores can be engineered through biotechnological techniques for environmentally-friendly and safe production of bio-products such as enzymes.The ability to withstand with harsh conditions and producing spores makes Bacillus a suitable candidate for surface display technology.In recent years,the spores of such specie are widely used as it is generally regarded as safe to use.Advances in synthetic biology have enabled the reprogramming of biofilms to improve their functions and enhance the production of value-added products.Globally,there is increased interest in the production of engineered biosensors,biocatalysts,and biomaterials.The elastic modulus and gel properties of B.subtilis biofilms have been utilized to develop living materials.This review outlines the formation of B.subtilis biofilms and spores.Biotechnological engineering processes and their increasing application in bioremediation and biocatalysis,as well as the future directions of B.subtilis biofilm engineering,are discussed.Furthermore,the ability of B.subtilis biofilms and spores to fabricate functional living materials with self-regenerating,self-regulating and environmentally responsive characteristics has been summarized.This review aims to resume advances in biological engineering of B.subtilis biofilms and spores and their applications. | Muhammad Zubair Mohsin Rabia Omer Jiaofang Huang Ali Mohsin Meijin Guo Jiangchao Qian Yingping Zhuang | 2021 | Synthetic and Systems Biotechnology2021,6,3: | 2 |

| 5 | Novel photoelectrochemical immunosensor for MCF-7 cell detection based on n-p organic semiconductor heterojunction显示文摘In this work,we developed a novel photoelectrochemical(PEC)sensor based on n-p organic semiconductor heterojunction for sensitive detecting MCF-7 cancer cells.BTA-C4 Ph and PM6 were designed as photoactive materials to form n-p heterojunction,which greatly enhanced the photoelectric conversion efficiency.Antibody-modified magnetic nanoparticles were utilized to capture and separate MCF-7 cells from samples.Detection of MCF-7 is ascribed to the loading of MCF-7 onto BTA-C4 Ph-PM6 modified electrode that resulted in the decrease of photocurrent intensity.The PEC immunosensor displayed a linear concentration ranging from 50 cell/m L to 1×10^(4) cell/m L with a limit of detection(LOD)of 41 cell/m L(S/N=3)for MCF-7.Additionally,the senor also exhibited good stability,excellent selectivity and prominent reproducibility.Furthermore,the sensor was successfully applied to detect MCF-7 in whole blood.This work illustrates that n-p heterojunction of organic semiconductor may find wide applications for the preparation of different photoelectrochemical sensors. | Qin Zeng Qingya Wei Jiarong Luo Yong Qian Minghui Yang Yingping Zou Limin Lu | 2022 | Chinese Chemical Letters2022,33,6: | 0 |
| 6 | Continuous-flow enzymatic synthesis of chiral lactones in a three-dimensional microfluidic reactor显示文摘A new continuous-flow process for the enzymatic synthesis of optically pureγ-lactones,which are used as flavors and fragrances in the food and cosmetic industries,was developed in a three-dimensional microfluidic reactor.The microchannels(175 mm in length,0.9 mm in depth,and 1.72 mL in volume)were carved precisely inside a single borosilicate glass(90 mm×75 mm×12 mm)with ultrafast femtosecond laser micromachining.The flow field analysis and reaction simulation showed that the mixing of substrates and enzymes was enhanced,allowing the adjustment of residence time in a wide window.SmCR_(V4),a carbonyl reductase with excellent catalytic activity and enantioselectivity towardγ/δ-keto acids,was employed for the asymmetric synthesis of various chiral lactones.30 mmol/L(R)-γ-decalactone(3g)can be obtained in 26 s with a space-time yield(STY)up to 16,877 g L^(-1)d^(-1),which is 14.4 times higher than the highest STY of batch reaction reported previously.This continuous-flow process was applied to the synthesis of 6 chiral lactones.In addition,the scaled-up synthesis of 3g was carried out in 6 cascade microreactors continuously for 6 h,demonstrating the feasibility and stability of the 3D continuous-flow process in enzymatic synthesis of optically pure compounds. | Xuelei Deng Meng Fan Miao Wu Xiaoyan Zhang Ya Cheng Jianye Xia Yingping Zhuang Weiping Zhu Xuhong Qian Yunpeng Bai | 2024 | Chinese Chemical Letters2024,35,3: | 0 |
