| 1 | OsWRKY03, a rice transcriptional activator that functions in defense signaling pathway upstream of OsNPR1显示文摘WRKY family proteins are a class of plant specific transcription factors that involve in many stress response pathways. It has been shown that one Arabidopsis WRKY protein, AtWRKY29/22, is activated by MAP kinase signaling cascade and confers resistance to both bacterial and fungal pathogens. However, little is known about the biological roles of WRKY proteins in rice. In this study, we investigated the expression patterns of rice AtWRKY29/22 homolog, OsWRKY03, under different conditions, and also its possible role involved in plant defense. Our results showed that OsWRKY03 was up-regulated by several defense signaling molecules or different treatments. Further analysis revealed that the expres- sion of OsWRKY03 was light dependent. Transcriptional activation activity of OsWRKY03 was also demonstrated by yeast functional assay. Transient expression of OsWRKY03-GFP fusion protein in onion epidermis cells showed that OsWRKY03 was a nuclear localized protein. OsNPR1 as well as several other pathogenesis-related genes, such as OsPR1b, phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (ZB8) and peroxidase (POX22.3), were induced in OsWRKY03-overexpressing transgenic plants. | 3 | Indocyanine green clearance test and model for end-stage liver disease score of patients with liver cirrhosis显示文摘BACKGROUND:The indocyanine green(ICG)clearance test(clearance rate(K)and retention rate at 15 minutes (R15))is a sensitive indicator to evaluate liver function. The model for end-stage liver disease(MELD)score has emerged as a useful tool for estimating the mortality of patients awaiting liver transplantation and has recently been validated on patients with liver diseases of various etiologies and severity.In this study,we investigated the correlation between the ICG clearance test and MELD score of patients with liver cirrhosis. METHODS:From June 2007 to March 2008,52 patients with liver cirrhosis admitted to our center were classified into Child-Pugh class A(8 patients),B(14)and C(30).The ICG clearance test(K value and R15)was performed by ICG pulse spectrophotometry(DDG-3300K),and the MELD scores of patients were calculated. RESULTS:As the Child-Pugh classification of liver function gradually deteriorated,the K value decreased, while R15 and MELD score increased.There were significant statistical differences in K value,R15 and MELD score in patients with different Child-Pugh classifications. Significant correlations were found between the parameters of the ICG clearance test(K value and R15)and MELD score.A negative correlation was observed between K value and MELD score(r=-0.892,P<0.05),while a positive correlation was observed between R15 and MELD score(r=0.804,P<0.05).CONCLUSIONS:The ICG clearance test and MELD score are good parameters for evaluating liver function.Moreover, K value and R15 have significant correlations with MELD score,especially the K value,which may be a convenient and appropriate indicator to evaluate liver function of patients with liver cirrhosis. | Sheng, Qin-Song Lang, Ren He, Qiang Yang, Yong-Jiu Zhao, De-Fang Chen, Da-Zhi | 2009 | Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2009,8,1: | 37 |

| 5 | Relationship of atmospheric boundary layer depth with thermodynamic processes at the land surface in arid regions of China显示文摘The atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) is an important physical characteristic of the Earth's atmosphere. Compared with the typical ABL, the ABL in arid regions has distinct features and is formed by particular mechanisms. In this paper, the depth of the diurnal and nocturnal ABLs and their related thermodynamic features of land surface processes, including net radiation, the ground-air temperature difference and sensible heat flux, under typical summer and winter conditons are discussed on the basis of comprehensive observations of the ABL and thermodynamic processes at the land surface carried out in the extreme arid zone of Dunhuang. The relationships of the ABL depth in the development and maintenance stages with these thermodynamic features are also investigated. The results show that the depth of the ABL is closely correlated with the thermodynamic features in both development and maintenance stages and more energy is consumed in the development stage. Further analysis indicates that wind velocity also affects ABL development, especially the development of a stable boundary layer in winter. | 6 | Multivariate Analysis, Description, and Ecological Interpretation of Weed Vegetation in the Summer Crop Fields of Anhui Province, China显示文摘Two surveys were conducted to investigate weed vegetation in a 153-hm2 sampling area of summer crop fields from Anhui Province, China, through visual scoring of the level of weed infestation compared with summer crops on a seven-class scale. In total, 155 sampling sites were selected in the field based on crops, tillage, rotation systems, geographical regions, and soil types across the province. Data on weed communities and environmental factors were collected and analyzed through principal component analysis (PCA) and canonical correspondence analysis (CCA), and the output was interpreted ecologically. Results showed that the main factors influencing the structure and distribution of weed communities in summer crop fields were the soil submersion period, latitude, and soil type and pH. The CCA indicated a significant relationship between weed dominance and soil submersion duration, latitude, and soil pH. From the result of the PCA and CCA ordination, the 155 sampling sites could be divided into three groups based on geographic and floristic composition, as well as weed abundance. The southern dry land group, which was characterized by a double-cropping system in the hilly regions of southern and central Anhui Province with a continuous summer crop and an autumn dry land crop, was dominated by Galium aparine Linn. var. tenerum (Gren. et Godr) Robb., Avenafatua L., and Veronica persica Poir. The northern dry land group, which had the same cropping system as the southern dry land group, was dominated by G. aparine var. tenerun, Galium tricorne Stokes, Descurainia sophia (L.) Schur., and Lithospermum arvense L. in the North Anhui Province, China. These two dry land groups could be combined into one large dry land group, in which the Galium weed vegetation type dominated. The third group was the paddy soil group, which was characterized by a continu ous summer crop and double- or triple-cropping systems of rice, and prevailed in the south and central areas of Anhui Province; Alopecurus aequalis Sobol. was the dominant weed in this group. Other main weeds in this group included Malachium aquaticum (L.) Fries, Stellaria alsine Grimm, Alopecurus japonicus Steud., and Lapsana apogonoides Maxim. Thus, the weed community distributions in this group were described as the Alopecurus weed vegetation type. The paddy soil group could be divided into two subgroups, one southern and one central paddy soil subgroup. A strategy for integrated weed management is suggested according to the weed distribution pattern. | 10 | Occurrence of Glyphosate-Resistant Horseweed (Conyza canadensis) Population in China显示文摘Horseweed (Conyza canadensis), an invasive alien weed, is one of the main weeds in orchards in China. Although glyphosate has been used for control of horseweed and many other weeds in orchards for more than 25 years in China, a case of glyphosate-resistant horseweed has not been identified in orchard in China so far despite glyphosate-resistant horseweed cases have been reported in some other countries. Seeds of 25 horseweed populations were collected from different orchards with different glyphosate application history. Potted seedlings with 11-13-leaf growth stage were treated with glyphosate at 0.035, 0.07, 0.14, 0.28, 0.56, 1.12, 2.24, 4.48, and 8.96 kg a.i. ha-1. The dosage dependence response curve of each population was constructed with Log-logistic dose response regression equations. The ED50 value of each population was calculated and compared with the susceptible population from China. Different populations had different relative glyphosate-resistant levels which increased with the number of years of glyphosate application. Two populations with the highest resistance levels, 8.28 and 7.95 times, were found in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China, where glyphosate was used for weed control in orchards twice each year for 15 yr. The interventions including percutaneous, endoscopic o surgical approaches are based on the size, location symptoms and complications of a pseudocyst With the availability of advanced imaging system and cameras, better hemostatic equipments and excellent laparoscopic techniques, most pseudocyst can be found and managed by laparoscopy. We describe a case of a 30-year-old male patient with a pancreatic pseudocyst amenable to laparoscopi cystogastrostomy. An incision was made through the anterior gastric wall to expose the posterior gastri wall in close contact with the pseudocyst using an ultrasonically activated scalpel. Then, another incision was made for cystogastrostomy to obtain complete and unobstructed drainage. | 12 | Reproductive traits associated with invasiveness in Conyza sumatrensis显示文摘Conyza sumatrensis (Retz.) E. Walker, a member of Asteraceae, is a highly invasive species. However, its reproduction biology remains poorly known. To understand the role of reproductive traits in successful invasion of the species, we studied several traits of its reproductive system: the miniature capitulum and gynomonoecious sexual system, the biology and phenology of capitula and florets, pollen/ovule ratio, the mating system (self-compatibility), flower visitors, physical traits and dispersal potential of achenes, germination potential of achenes from manually pollinated capitula, and the association of these traits with invasiveness. Our study showed that the reproductive traits of autonomous seed production, versatile mating system of self- and cross-pollination, and generalized pollination system might contribute to the species' successful invasive capability. The invasiveness was further enhanced by the high and rapid production of achenes, as well as the high percentage, rapid germination rate and high dispersal capability of achenes. | 13 | Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. | 14 | Establishment of an animal model of ischemic type intrahepatic biliary lesion in rabbits显示文摘AIM:To explore a method to establish an animal model of ischemic type intrahepatic biliary lesion in rabbits. METHODS:Forty Japanese white rabbits of clean grade were divided randomly into four groups(10 rabbits per group)including sham operation(SO) group,and artery-bile obstruction(ABO)-1 h group, ABO-2 h group and ABO-3 h group.All the rabbits in this study underwent the same initial surgical procedure in which the liver was prepared as for graft removal during liver transplantation.Subsequently in the SO group,no additional vascular intervention was performed,while in groups ABO-1 h,ABO-2 h and ABO-3 h,the animals underwent combined clamping of the hepatic artery and common bile duct with microvascular clips for 1,2 and 3 h,respectively.After the scheduled occlusion time,the clip was removed to recover blood supply.The animals were killed 4 wk after operation.The survival rate,liver function, cholangiography and histopathological manifestation of the rabbits in each group were observed. RESULTS:The survival rate was 100%in groups SO,ABO-1 h and ABO-2 h,while it was 60%in group ABO-3 h.At each observation time,the change degree of the indexes of liver function was proportional to the clamping time(ABO-3 h>ABO-2 h>ABO-1 h> SO,P<0.05).Cholangiographical and histopathologic manifestations both showed that intrahepatic biliary lesion aggravated proportionally with the increase of the clamping time. | 16 | Autoimmune pancreatitis:report of two cases and literature review显示文摘BACKGROUND:Autoimmune pancreatitis(AIP)is a unique chronic inflammation of the pancreas in which autoimmune mechanisms are involved in the pathogenesis.It is characterized by clinical,histopathological,radiographic,serologic and therapeutic features.Since it was first described in 1995,increasing numbers of AIP patients have been diagnosed.METHODS:In this study,the data from 2 patients with AIP who had elevation of serum immunoglobulin G,positive autoantibody,swelling of the pancreas and narrowing of the main pancreatic duct on imaging were analyzed retrospectively.RESULTS:With the initial diagnosis of AIP,both patients underwent regular prednisone therapy,which was initiated at a dose of 40 mg per day with a tapering schedule of 5 mg every 2 weeks.The patients responded very well to treatment with prednisone.CONCLUSIONS:AIP is a relatively new disease entity.Although it is diagnosed by distinct characteristics of the clinical,radiologic,histopathologic,and serologic findings,many questions require further clarification,including its relationship to other autoimmune diseases and misdiagnosis as pancreaticobiliary malignancies. | Sheng, Qin-Song Chen, Da-Zhi Lang, Ren He, Qiang Han, Dong-Dong Pan, Fei Li, Ping Qu, Zhao-Wei | 2009 | Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2009,8,6: | 8 |

| 18 | Transgenic restorer rice line T1c-19 with stacked cry1C*/bar genes has low weediness potential without selection pressure显示文摘Stacked(insect and herbicide resistant) transgenic rice T1c-19 with cry1C*/bar genes, its receptor rice Minghui 63(herein MH63) and a local two-line hybrid indica rice Fengliangyou Xiang 1(used as a control) were compared for agronomic performance under field conditions without the relevant selection pressures. Agronomic traits(plant height, tiller number, and aboveground dry biomass), reproductive ability(pollen viability, panicle length, and filled grain number of main panicles, seed set, and grain yield), and weediness characteristics(seed shattering, seed overwintering ability, and volunteer seedling recruitment) were used to assess the potential weediness without selection pressure of stacked transgene rice T1c-19. In wet direct-seeded and transplanted rice fields, T1c-19 and its receptor MH63 performed similarly regarding vegetative growth and reproductive ability, but both of them were significantly inferior to the control. T1c-19 did not display weed characteristics; it had weak overwintering ability, low seed shattering and failed to establish volunteers. | 20 | Expression of dectin-1 during fungus infection in human corneal epithelial cells显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the expression of dendritic cell-associated C-type lectin-1(dectin-1) in human corneal epithelial(HCE) cells infected by fungus. · METHODS: A total of 20 cases of healthy donor corneas were group A,and 20 patients(20 eyes) suffered from fungal keratitis(FK) composed group B. Real-time qPCR and immunohistochemistry were applied to detect dectin-1 expression in corneal epithelium of both groups. HCE cells were cultured with aspergillus fumigatus(AF) antigens in vitro. The expression of dectin-1 mRNA was measured by real-time qPCR at the stimulation of 0,4,8 and 24h separately. Dectin-1 protein was detected by immunocytochemistry at 0 and 24h separately. ·RESULTS: Dectin-1 expressed in corneal epithelium of normal persons and FK patients. Vitro cellular experiment showed that the expression of dectin-1 mRNA in HCE cells began to increase after stimulation of AF antigens at 4h,and dectin-1 protein expression increased after stimulation at 24h. · CONCLUSION: Dectin-1 expressed in corneal epithelium of normal persons.
