2Enhanced oxidation and graphitization resistance of polycrystalline diamond sintered with Ti-coated diamond powders显示文摘To improve the oxidation and graphitization resistances of the polycrystalline diamond(PCD), Ti coating was deposited on the diamond powders via magnetic sputtering method, which achieved a uniform Ti C protection barrier in PCD during the sintering process. The phase compositions, microstructures and thermal stability of Ti-PCD were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), Auger electron spectroscopy(AES),scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and thermal gravimetric-differential scanning calorimetry(TG-DSC).The results demonstrate that the oxidation and graphitization resistances of PCD are strengthened due to the existence of Ti C phase, which acts as an effective inhibitor. The as-received inhibitor delays the oxidation and graphitization of PCD, elevating their initial temperature by ~50°C and ~100°C, respectively. During the annealing treatment of Ti-PCD, the priory oxidation of Ti C, which produces Ti O2 as an oxygen barrier, postpones the diamond oxide. Moreover, the Ti C barrier also protects diamond grains from direct contact with cobalt, thus a lower cobalt-catalytic graphitization, and yields to an improved graphitization resistance of PCD. 4Myofiber necroptosis promotes muscle stem cell proliferation via releasing Tenascin-C during regeneration显示文摘Necroptosis,a form of programmed cell death,is characterized by the loss of membrane integrity and release of intracellular contents,the execution of which depends on the membrane-disrupting activity of the Mixed Lineage Kinase Domain-Like protein(MLKL)upon its phosphorylation.Here we found myofibers committed MLKL-dependent necroptosis after muscle injury.Either pharmacological inhibition of the necroptosis upstream kinase Receptor Interacting Protein Kinases 1(RIPK1)or genetic ablation of MLKL expression in myofibers led to significant muscle regeneration defects.By releasing factors into the muscle stem cell(MuSC)microenvironment,necroptotic myofibers facilitated muscle regeneration.Tenascin-C(TNC),released by necroptotic myofibers,was found to be critical for MuSC proliferation.The temporary expression of TNC in myofibers is tightly controlled by necroptosis;the extracellular release of TNC depends on necroptotic membrane rupture.TNC directly activated EGF receptor(EGFR)signaling pathway in MuSCs through its N-terminus assembly domain together with the EGF-like domain.These findings indicate that necroptosis plays a key role in promoting MuSC proliferation to facilitate muscle regeneration.Shen'ao Zhou Wei Zhang Gaihong Cai Yingzhe Ding Caixia Wei Sheng Li Yu Yang Jie Qin Dan Liu Hao Zhang Xiexiang Shao Jianhua Wang Hongye Wang Wenjun Yang Huating Wang She Chen Ping Hu Liming Sun 2020Cell Research2020,30,12:4
5NADPH is superior to NADH or edaravone in ameliorating metabolic disturbance and brain injury in ischemic stroke显示文摘Our previous studies confirm that exogenous reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate(NADPH)exerts a neuroprotective effect in animal models of ischemic stroke,and its primary mechanism is related to anti-oxidative stress and improved energy metabolism.However,it is unknown whether nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NADH)also plays a neuroprotective role and whether NADPH is superior to NADH against ischemic stroke?In this study we compared the efficacy of NADH,NADPH,and edaravone in ameliorating brain injury and metabolic stress in ischemic stroke.Transient middle cerebral artery occlusion/reperfusion(t-MCAO/R)mouse model and in vitro oxygen glucose deprivation/reoxygenation(OGD/R)model were established.The mice were intravenously administered the optimal dose of NADPH(7.5 mg/kg),NADH(22.5 mg/kg),or edaravone(3 mg/kg)immediately after reperfusion.We showed that the overall efficacy of NADPH in ameliorating ischemic injury was superior to NADH and edaravone.NADPH had a longer therapeutic time window(within 5 h)after reperfusion than NADH and edaravone(within 2 h)for ischemic stroke.In addition,NADPH and edaravone were better in alleviating the brain atrophy,while NADH and NADPH were better in increasing the long-term survival rate.NADPH showed stronger antioxidant effects than NADH and edaravone;but NADH was the best in terms of maintaining energy metabolism.Taken together,this study demonstrates that NADPH exerts better neuroprotective effects against ischemic stroke than NADH and edaravone.Xin-xin Wang Fan Wang Guang-hui Mao Jun-chao Wu Mei Li Rong Han Jing She Rong Zhang Rui Sheng Zhong Chen Zheng-hong Qin 2022Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2022,43,3:4

7Study on the Relationship Between Sex Differentiation and Ethylene in Ramie显示文摘To explore the role of ethylene in sexual determination in ramie,the ethylene release rates in ramie stem apex of different sex,bud of the same node in female and hermaphrodite ramie in the second crop,and single inflorescence of different sex in hermaphrodite ramie were measured by gas chromatography.Effects of two ethylene inhibitors on sex expression in ramie were investigated.The ethylene release rate of stem apex was higher in the second crop or female ramie than that in the third crop or hermaphrodite ramie during growth.Although ethylene release rates between lower nodes and higher nodes were little different,it was lower in the middle nodes in hermaphrodite ramie.The ethylene release rates were higher in the higher nodes of female ramie at the second crop.At the third crop,the ethylene release rates were higher in lower nodes,lower in middle nodes and then highest in higher nodes in female ramie.However,an opposite ethylene release pattern was observed in hermaphrodite ramie.The ethylene release rate was higher in female flower than male flower and mixed inflorescence in hermaphrodite ramie.The male flower could be distinctly induced by AVG(aminooethoxyvinylglycine).The node of the first male flower,percentage of female flowers and ratio of female flowers to male in ramie were evidently depressed by AVG in contrast to water.The percentage of mixed male and female flowers was also increased and the percentage of female flower decreased by spraying AgNO3.There was a close relationship between sexual differentiation and ethylene release rate in ramie.The female ramie could be induced by high ethylene release rate.The female flower could be inhibited by AVG and AgNO3.AVG at a concentration of 300 mg L-1 was most effective.XING Hu-cheng SHE Wei LUO Zhong-qin QIN Zhan-jun JIE Yu-cheng 2009Agricultural Sciences in China2009,8,4:2

9Association Between Lipid Profiles and Left Ventricular Hypertrophy:New Evidence from a Retrospective Study显示文摘Objective To explore the association between lipid profiles and left ventricular hypertrophy in a Chinese general population.Methods We conducted a retrospective observational study to investigate the relationship between lipid markers[including triglycerides,total cholesterol,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol,high-density lipoprotein(HDL)cholesterol,non-HDL-cholesterol,apolipoprotein A-I,apolipoprotein B,lipoprotein[a],and composite lipid profiles]and left ventricular hypertrophy.A total of 309,400 participants of two populations(one from Beijing and another from nationwide)who underwent physical examinations at different health management centers between 2009 and 2018 in China were included in the cross-sectional study.7,475 participants who had multiple physical examinations and initially did not have left ventricular hypertrophy constituted a longitudinal cohort to analyze the association between lipid markers and the new-onset of left ventricular hypertrophy.Left ventricular hypertrophy was measured by echocardiography and defined as an end-diastolic thickness of the mterventricular septum or left ventricle posterior wall>11 mm.The Logistic regression model was used in the cross-sectional study.Cox model and Cox model with restricted cubic splines were used in the longitudinal cohort.Results In the cross-sectional study for participants in the highest tertile of each lipid marker compared to the respective lowest,triglycerides[odds ratio(OR):1.2S0,95%CI:1.060 to 1.474],HDL-cholesterol(OR:0.780,95%CI:0.662 to 0.918),and lipoprotein(a)(OR:1.311,95%C7:1.115 to 1.541)had an association with left ventricular hypertrophy.In the longitudinal cohort,for participants in the highest tertile of each lipid marker at the baseline compared to the respective lowest,triglycerides[hazard ratio(HR):3.277,95%C/:1.720 to 6.244],HDL-cholesterol(HR:0.516,95%C7:0.283 to 0.940),non-HDL-cholesterol(HR:2.309,95%C/:1.296 to 4.112),apolipoprotein B(HR:2.244,95%CI:1.251 to 4.032)showed an association with new-onset left ventricular hypertrophy.In the Cox model with forward stepwise selection,triglycerides were the only lipid markers entered into the final model.Conclusion Lipids levels,especially triglycerides,are associated with left ventricular hypertrophy.Controlling triglycerides level potentiate to be a strategy in harnessing cardiac remodeling but deserve to be furdier investigated.Xuewei Huang Keqiong Deng Juanjuan Qin Fang Lei Xingyuan Zhang Wenxin Wang Lijin Lin Yuming Zheng Dongai Yao Huiming Lu Feng Liu Lidong Chen Guilan Zhang Yueping Liu Qiongyu Yang Jingjing Cai Zhigang She Hongliang Li 2022Chinese Medical Sciences Journal2022,37,2:1

16No significant association between dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors and adverse outcomes of COVID-19显示文摘BACKGROUND Dipeptidyl peptidase-4(DPP4)is commonly targeted to achieve glycemic control and has potent anti-inflammatory and immunoregulatory effects.Recent structural analyses indicated a potential tight interaction between DPP4 and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2),raising a promising hypothesis that DPP4 inhibitor(DPP4i)drugs might be an optimal strategy for treating coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)among patients with diabetes.However,there has been no direct clinical evidence illuminating the associations between DPP4i use and COVID-19 outcomes.AIM To illuminate the associations between DPP4i usage and the adverse outcomes of COVID-19.METHODS We conducted a multicenter,retrospective analysis including 2563 patients with type 2 diabetes who were hospitalized due to COVID-19 at 16 hospitals in Hubei Province,China.After excluding ineligible individuals,142 patients who received DPP4i drugs and 1115 patients who received non-DPP4i oral anti-diabetic drugs were included in the subsequent analysis.We performed a strict propensity score matching(PSM)analysis where age,sex,comorbidities,number of oral hypoglycemic agents,heart rate,blood pressure,pulse oxygen saturation(SpO2)<95%,CT diagnosed bilateral lung lesions,laboratory indicators,and proportion of insulin usage were matched.Finally,111 participants treated with DPP4i drugs were successfully matched to 333 non-DPP4i users.Then,a linear logistic model and mixed-effect Cox model were applied to analyze the associations between inhospital DPP4i use and adverse outcomes of COVID-19.RESULTS After rigorous matching and further adjustments for imbalanced variables in the linear logistic model and Cox adjusted model,we found that there was no significant association between in-hospital DPP4i use(DPP4i group)and 28-d allcause mortality(adjusted hazard ratio=0.44,95%CI:0.09-2.11,P=0.31).Likewise,the incidences and risks of secondary outcomes,including septic shock,acute respiratory distress syndrome,or acute organ(kidney,liver,and cardiac)injuries,were also comparable between the DPP4i and non-DPP4i groups.The performance of DPP4i agents in achieving glucose control(e.g.,the median level of fasting blood glucose and random blood glucose)and inflammatory regulation was approximately equivalent in the DPP4i and non-DPP4i groups.Furthermore,we did not observe substantial side effects such as uncontrolled glycemia or acidosis due to DPP4i application relative to the use of non-DPP4i agents in the study cohort.CONCLUSION Our findings demonstrated that DPP4i use is not significantly associated with poor outcomes of COVID-19 or other adverse effects of anti-diabetic treatment.The data support the continuation of DPP4i agents for diabetes management in the setting of COVID-19.Jiang-Hua Zhou Bin Wu Wen-Xin Wang Fang Lei Xu Cheng Juan-Juan Qin Jing-Jing Cai Xiao-Jing Zhang Feng Zhou Ye-Mao Liu Hao-Miao Li Li-Hua Zhu Zhi-Gang She Xin Zhang Juan Yang Hong-Liang Li 2020World Journal of Clinical Cases2020,8,22:1
