1A new variational inequality formulation for unconfined seepage flow through fracture networks显示文摘Darcy's law only applying to the flow domain is extended to the entire fracture network domain including the dry domain.The partial differential equation(PDE) formulation for unconfined seepage flow problems for discrete fracture network is established,in which a boundary condition of Signorini's type is prescribed over the potential seepage surfaces.In order to reduce the difficulty in selecting trial functions,a new variational inequality formulation is presented and mathematically proved to be equivalent to the PDE formulation.The numerical procedure based on the VI formulation is proposed and the corresponding algorithm has been developed.Since a continuous penalized Heaviside function is introduced to replace a jump function in finite element analysis,oscillation of numerical integration for facture elements cut by the free surface is eliminated and stability of numerical solution is assured.The numerical results from two typical examples demonstrate,on the one hand the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method,and on the other hand the capability of predicting main seepage pathways in fractured rocks and flow rates out of the drainage system,which is very important for performance assessments and design optimization of complex drainage system.JIANG QingHui YE ZuYang YAO Chi ZHOU ChuangBing 2012Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,11:11
2A new classification of seepage control mechanisms in geotechnical engineering显示文摘Seepage flow through soils,rocks and geotechnical structures has a great influence on their stabilities and performances,and seepage control is a critical technological issue in engineering practices.The physical mechanisms associated with various engineering measures for seepage control are investigated from a new perspective within the framework of continuum mechanics;and an equation-based classification of seepage control mechanisms is proposed according to their roles in the mathematical models for seepage flow,including control mechanisms by coupled processes,initial states,boundary conditions and hydraulic properties.The effects of each mechanism on seepage control are illustrated with examples in hydroelectric engineering and radioactive waste disposal,and hence the reasonability of classification is demonstrated.Advice on performance assessment and optimization design of the seepage control systems in geotechnical engineering is provided,and the suggested procedure would serve as a useful guidance for cost-effective control of seepage flow in various engineering practices.Yifeng Chen Ran Hu Chuangbing Zhou Dianqing Li Guan Rong Qinghui Jiang 2010Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2010,2,3:10
3A generalized multi-field coupling approach and its application to stability and deformation control of a high slope显示文摘Human activities,such as blasting excavation,bolting,grouting and impounding of reservoirs,will lead to disturbances to rock masses and variations in their structural features and material properties.These engineering disturbances are important factors that would alter the natural evolutionary processes or change the multi-field interactions in the rock masses from their initial equilibrium states.The concept of generalized multi-field couplings was proposed by placing particular emphasis on the role of engineering disturbances in traditional multi-field couplings in rock masses.A mathematical model was then developed,in which the effects of engineering disturbances on the coupling-processes were described with changes in boundary conditions and evolutions in thermo-hydro-mechanical(THM) properties of the rocks.A parameter,d,which is similar to damage variables but has a broader physical meaning,was conceptually introduced to represent the degree of engineering disturbances and the couplings among the material properties.The effects of blasting excavation,bolting and grouting in rock engineering were illustrated with various field observations or theoretical results,on which the degree of disturbances and the variations in elastic moduli and permeabilities were particularly focused.The influences of excavation and groundwater drainage on the seepage flow and stability of the slopes were demonstrated with numerical simulations.The proposed approach was further employed to investigate the coupled hydro-mechanical responses of a high rock slope to excavation,bolting and impounding of the reservoir in the dam left abutment of Jinping I hydropower station.The impacts of engineering disturbances on the deformation and stability of the slope during construction and operation were demonstrated.Chuangbing Zhou Yifeng Chen Qinghui Jiang Wenbo Lu 2011Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2011,3,3:5
4Remote Sensing Retrieval of Surface Suspended Sediment Concentration in the Yellow River Estuary显示文摘Accurate assessment of surface suspended sediment concentration(SSSC) in estuary is essential to address several important issues: erosion, water pollution, human health risks, etc. In this study, an empirical cubic retrieval model was developed for the retrieval of SSSC from Yellow River Estuary. Based on sediments and seawater collected from the Yellow River and southeastern Laizhou Bay, SSSC conditions were reproduced in the laboratory at increasing concentrations within a range common to field observations. Continuous spectrum measurements of the various SSSCs ranging from 1 to 5700 mg/l were carried out using an Ava Field-3 spectrometer. The results indicated the good correlation between water SSSC and spectral reflectance(Rrs) was obtained in the spectral range of 726–900 nm. At SSSC greater than 2700 mg/L, the 740–900 nm spectral range was less susceptible to the effects of spectral reflectance saturation and more suitable for retrieval of high sediment concentrations. The best correlations were obtained for the reflectance ratio of 820 nm to 490 nm. Informed by the correlation between Rrs and SSSC, a retrieval model was developed(R2 = 0.992). The novel cubic model, which used the ratio of a near-infrared(NIR) band(740–900 nm) to a visible band(400–600 nm) as factors, provided robust quantification of high SSSC water samples. Two high SSSC centers, with an order of 103 mg/l, were found in the inversion results around the abandoned Diaokou River mouth, the present Yellow River mouth to the abandoned Qingshuigou River mouth. 5The variational inequality formulation for unconfined seepage through three-dimensional dense fracture networks显示文摘The space block search technology is used to determine a connected three-dimensional fracture network in polygonal shapes,i.e.,seepage paths.After triangulation on these polygons,a finite element mesh for 3D fracture network seepage is obtained.Through introduction of the generalized Darcy's law,conservative equations for both fracture surface and fracture interactions are established.Combined with the boundary condition of Signorini's type,a partial differential equation(PDE) formulation is presented for the whole domain concerned.To solve this problem efficiently,an equivalent variational inequality(VI) formulation is given.With the penalized Heaviside function,a finite element procedure for unconfined seepage problem in 3D fracture network is developed.Through an example in a homogeneous rectangular dam,validity of the algorithm is verified.The analysis of an unconfined seepage problem in a complex fracture network shows that the proposed algorithm is very applicable to complex three-dimensional problems,and is effective in describing some interesting phenomenon usually encountered in practice,such as 'preferential flow'.YAO Chi JIANG QingHui WEI Wei ZHOU ChuangBing 2013Science China(Technological Sciences)2013,56,5:5
6Proline with or without Hydroxyproline Influences Collagen Concentration and Regulates Prolyl 4-Hydroxylase α(I) Gene Expression in Juvenile Turbot(Scophthalmus maximus L.)显示文摘This study was conducted to investigate the effect of dietary proline(Pro), and Pro and hydroxyproline(Hyp) in combination on the growth performance, total Hyp and collagen concentrations of tissues, and prolyl 4-hydroxylase α(I)(P4H α(I)) gene expression in juvenile turbot feeding high plant protein diets. A diet containing 50% crude protein and 12% crude lipid was formulated as the basal and control, on which other two protein and lipid contents identical experimental diets were formulated by supplementing the basal with either 0.75% Pro(Pro-0.75) or 0.75% Pro and 0.75% Hyp(Pro+Hyp). Four groups of fish in indoor seawater recirculating systems, 35 individuals each, were fed twice a day to apparent satiation for 10 weeks. The results showed that dietary Pro and Hyp supplementation had no significant effect on growth performance and feed utilization of juvenile turbot(P > 0.05). Total Hyp and collagen concentrations in muscle were significantly increased when dietary Pro and Hyp increased(P < 0.05), and fish fed diet Pro+Hyp showed significantly higher free Hyp content in plasma than those fed other diets(P < 0.05). The expression of P4 H α(I) gene in liver and muscle was significantly up regulated in fish fed diet Pro-0.75 in comparison with control(P < 0.05); however the gene was significantly down regulated in fish fed diet Pro+Hyp in muscle in comparison with fish fed diet Pro-0.75(P < 0.05). 7A 3D-bioprinted scaffold with doxycycline-controlled BMP2-expressing cells for inducing bone regeneration and inhibiting bacterial infection显示文摘Large bone defects face a high risk of pathogen exposure due to open wounds,which leads to high infection rates and delayed bone union.To promote successful repair of infectious bone defects,fabrication of a scaffold with dual functions of osteo-induction and bacterial inhibition is required.This study describes creation of an engineered progenitor cell line(C3H10T1/2)capable of doxycycline(DOX)-mediated release of bone morphogenetic protein-2(BMP2).Three-dimensional bioprinting technology enabled creation of scaffolds,comprising polycaprolactone/mesoporous bioactive glass/DOX and bioink,containing these engineered cells.In vivo and in vitro experiments confirmed that the scaffold could actively secrete BMP2 to significantly promote osteoblast differentiation and induce ectopic bone formation.Additionally,the scaffold exhibited broad-spectrum antibacterial capacity,thereby ensuring the survival of embedded engineered cells when facing high risk of infection.These findings demonstrated the efficacy of this bioprinted scaffold to release BMP2 in a controlled manner and prevent the occurrence of infection;thus,showing its potential for repairing infectious bone defects.Minqi Wang Hanjun Li Yiqi Yang Kai Yuan Feng Zhou Haibei Liu Qinghui Zhou Shengbing Yang Tingting Tang 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,5:3
8TAT Improves in vitro Transportation of Fortilin Through Midgut and into Hemocytes of White Shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei显示文摘Fortilin is a multifunctional protein implicated in many important cellular processes. Since injection of Pm-fortilin reduces shrimp mortality caused by white spot syndrome virus (WSSV), there is potential application of fortilin in shrimp culture. In the present study, in order to improve trans-membrane transportation efficiency, the protein transduction domain of the transactivator of transcription (TAT) peptide was fused to fortilin. The Pichia pastoris yeast expression system, which is widely accepted in animal feeds, was used for production of recombinant fusion protein. Green fluorescence protein (GFP) was selected as a reporter because of its intrinsic visible fluorescence. The fortilin, TAT and GFP fusion protein were constructed. Their trans-membrane transportation efficiency and effects on immune response of shrimp were analyzed in vitro. Results showed that TAT peptide improved in vitro uptake of fortilin into the hemocytes and midgut of Litopenaeus vannamei. The phenoloxidase (PO) activity of hemocytes incubated with GFP-Fortilin or GFP-Fortilin-TAT was significantly increased compared with that in the control without expressed fortilin. The PO activity of hemocytes incubated with 200 μg mL-1 GFP-Fortilin-TAT was significantly higher than that in the group with the same concentration of GFP-Fortilin. Hemocytes incubated with GFP-Fortilin-TAT at all concentrations showed significantly higher nitric oxide synthase (NOS) activity than those in the control or in the GFP-Fortilin treatment. 9Effect of Dietary Lipid on the Growth, Fatty Acid Composition and Δ5 Fads Expression of Abalone(Haliotis discus hannai Ino) Hepatopancreas显示文摘This study investigated the effect of dietary lipid on the growth, fatty acid composition and Δ5 fatty acyl desaturase genes(Fads) expression of juvenile abalone(Haliotis discus hannai Ino) hepatopancreas. Six purified diets were formulated to contain tripalmitin(TP), olive oil(OO, 72.87% 18:1n-9), grape seed oil(GO, 68.67% 18:2n-6), linseed oil(LO, 70.48% 18:3n-3), ARA oil(AO, 41.81% ARA) or EPA oil(EO, 44.09% EPA and 23.67% DAH). No significant difference in survival rate was observed among abalone fed with different diets. Weight gain rate(WGR) and daily growth rate of shell length(DGRSL) were significantly increased in abalone fed with diets containing OO, AO and EO, but decreased in abalone fed with LO diet(P < 0.05) in comparison with those fed with TP. High level of dietary 18:2n-6 resulted in higher content of n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFAs) in abalone fed with GO than those fed with TP, OO, LO and EO(P < 0.05). n-3 PUFAs in abalone fed with LO was significantly higher than those in abalone fed with TP, OO, GO and AO(P < 0.05). The highest contents of 20:1n-9 and 22:1n-9 were observed in abalone fed with OO. The expression of Δ5 Fads in hepatopancreas of abalone was enhanced by high concentration of 18:3n-3 and suppressed by dietary LC-PUFAs; however it was not affected by dietary high concentration of 18:1n-9 or 18:2n-6. 14Effects of Dietary Vitamin D_(3)on Growth Performance,Immune Status,and Calcium and Phosphorus Metabolism in Litopenaeus vannamei Under Different Salinity Conditions显示文摘Vitamin D_(3)(VD_(3)) plays a vital role in various physiological processes in addition to its role in regulating the homeostasis of calcium and phosphorus.The present study was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary VD_(3) on growth performance,immune status and the metabolism of calcium and phosphorus in Litopenaeus vannamei under the optimal salinity(25)and high salinity(35)conditions.Shrimp(2.1 g±0.1 g)were fed with experimental diets containing 0,1500,6000 and 12000IUkg^(−1)VD_(3) for 30 days under two salinity conditions respectively.The results showed that the growth performance and intestinal health were reduced,while oxidative stress was induced in the shrimp cultured at salinity 35 compared to those in the shrimp cultured at salinity 25.Interestingly,dietary supplementation of 1500 IU kg^(−1)VD_(3) at salinity 35 promoted the growth performance,improved the intestinal health,and enhanced the antioxidant capacity and non-specific immunity in shrimp.In addition,the content of inorganic phosphorus in shrimp serum was affected by dietary VD_(3) independent of salinity.In contrast,the expressions of calcium transport-related genes,including calmodulin and Ca2+-ATPase,were regulated by salinity,instead of dietary VD_(3).In conclusion,an appropriate supplementation of dietary VD_(3) under high-salt condition can promote the growth,alleviate intestinal inflammation,enhance antioxidant capacity and immunity,and contribute to phosphorus metabolism in L.vannamei.LIU Miao ZHANG Hui SHAO Rui ZHOU Xueqi ZHOU Qicun MAI Kangsen AI Qinghui WAN Min 2023Journal of Ocean University of China2023,22,4:0
15Semi-interpenetrating-network all-solid-state polymer electrolyte with liquid crystal constructing efficient ion transport channels for flexible solid lithium-metal batteries显示文摘The development of the solid-state polymer electrolytes (SPEs) for Li-ion batteries (LIBs) can effectively address the hidden safety issues of commercially used liquid electrolytes.Nevertheless,the unsatisfactory room temperature ion conductivity and inferior mechanical strength for linear PEO-based SPEs are still the immense obstacles impeding the further applications of SPEs for large-scale commercialization.Herein,we fabricate a series of semi-interpenetrating-network (semi-IPN) polymer electrolytes based on a novel liquid crystal (C6M LC) and poly(ethylene glycol) diglycidyl ether (PEGDE) via UV-irradiation at the first time.The LCs not only highly improve the mechanical properties of electrolyte membranes via the construction of network structure with PEGDE,but also create stable ion transport channels for ion conduction.As a result,a free-standing flexible SPE shows outstanding ionic conductivity(5.93×10^(-5) S cm^(-1) at 30℃),a very wide electrochemical stability window of 5.5 V,and excellent thermal stability at thermal decomposition temperatures above 360℃ as well as the capacity of suppressing lithium dendrite growth.Moreover,the LiFePO_(4)/Li battery assembled with the semi-IPN electrolyte membranes exhibits good cycle performance and admirable reversible specific capacity.This work highlights the obvious advantages of LCs applied to the electrolyte for the advanced solid lithium battery.Qinghui Zeng Yu Lu Pingping Chen Zhenfeng Li Xin Wen Wen Wen Yu Liu Shuping Zhang Hailei Zhao Henghui Zhou Zhi-xiang Wang Liaoyun Zhang 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,4:0
16Seismic detection of the X-discontinuity beneath the Ryukyu subduction zone from the SdP conversion phase显示文摘The X-discontinuity,which appears at the depth of approximately 300 km,is an important seismic interface with positive velocity contrasts in the upper mantle.Detecting its presence and topography can be useful to understand phase transformations of relevant mantle minerals under the high-temperature and high-pressure circumstance of the Earth's interior.In this study,we detect the X-discontinuity beneath the Ryukyu subduction zone using five intermediate-depth events recorded by the dense Alaska Regional Network(AK).The X-discontinuity is successfully revealed from the robust slant stacking of the secondary down-going and converting Sd P phases.From the depth distribution of conversion points,we find that the X-discontinuity's depth ranges between 269 km and 313 km,with an average depth of 295 km.All the conversion points are located beneath the down-dipping side of the Philippine Sea slab.From energy comparisons in vespagrams for observed and synthetic seismograms,the strong converted energy is more likely from a thin high-velocity layer,and the S-wave velocity jumps across the X-discontinuity are up to 5% to 8% with an average of 6.0%.According to previous petrological and seismological studies,the X-discontinuity we detected can be interpreted as the phase transformation of coesite to stishovite in eclogitic materials within the oceanic crust.QingHui Cui WenLan Li GuoHui Li MaiNing Ma XiaoYu Guan YuanZe Zhou 2018Earth and Planetary Physics2018,2,3:0
