1Variations of sulfur and carbon isotopes in seawater during the Doushantuo stage in late Neoproterozoic显示文摘Successive analyses of sulfur and carbon isotopic compositions of carbonates strata in the Doushantuo Formation in the Yangtze area were accomplished through a method of extracting trace sulfate from carbonates. Sulfur and carbon isotopic compositions of coeval seawater were estimated from the samples that show the least diagenetic alteration. A high-resolution age curve of sulfur isotopes in seawater sulfates was obtained in the Doushantuo stage, which reflects the trend of variation in seawater sulfur isotopes after the Neoproterozoic snowball Earth event. Similar characteristics of variation in carbon isotopes were observed in the coeval carbonates. A large positive d 34S excursion over +20?occurs in ancient seawater sulfates in the early Doushantuo stage. Simultaneously, the d 13C values in ancient seawater carbonates exhibit a positive excursion up to 10. The maximum d 34S and d 13C values are +46.4 and +6.9? respectively. In the middle Doushantuo stage, the range of variation in d 34S values of seawater is relatively narrow, but d 13C values are quite high. Then, d 34S values of seawater become oscillating, and the same occurs in d 13C values. Negative excursions in d 34S and d 13C values occur simultaneously at the end of the Doushantuo stage, and the minimum d 34S and d 13C values dropped down to -10.1 and -5.7? respectively. The characteristics of variations in the sulfur and carbon isotopes of ancient seawater imply strong changes in oceanic environment that became beneficial to inhabitation and propagation of organism. The organic productivity and burial rate of organic carbon once reached a quite high level during the Doushantuo stage. However, the state of environment became unstable after the global glaciation. The global climate and environment possibly were fluctuating and reiterating. 2Carbon isotopic variations of Proterozoic carbonates in Jixian, Tianjin, China显示文摘Along the Proterozoic stratigraphic sections of Jixian, Tianjin, the ??13C values of carbonates are mostly negative in the Changchengian (Changcheng System), varying approximately within a range of (0±1)‰ in the Jixianian (Jixian System), and have commonly positive values of (2±2)‰ in the Qingbaikouan (Qingbaikou System). From Chuanlinggou Formation to Dahongyu Formation, i.e. from ca. 1700 Ma to 1600 Ma, the δ13C values of carbonates increase from about -3‰ to 0‰, but oscillate with large excursion in Dahongyu Formation. Two large excursions occur in the Jixianian, one in Yangzhuang Formation and the other in the third submember of Wumishan Formation overlaying. These integrated and continuous records of carbon isotope reflect secular variations of δ13C value in ancient seawater from ca. 1700 Ma to ca. 800 Ma. 3Discussion on the Neoproterozoic glaciations in the South China Block and their related paleolatitudes显示文摘The Kaigas, Sturtian, Marinoan, and Gaskiers glaciations are widely recognized in Neoproterozoic. However, in the South China Block only the Jiangkou (Sturtian) and Nantuo (Marinoan) are symbolized by sedimentary records. The Kaigas, recorded by isotopic and chemical proxies, exhibited likely the nature of cold paleoclimate with local mountain glaciation. The correlation of the Doushantuo Formation with the Gaskiers is indicated by the carbon isotope excursion and the dated age from the interval, however the South China Block was then under non-glacial weather. With no paleomagnetic data, the position of the South China Block during the Sturtian glaciation cannot be determined. The paleolatitudes of the South China Block during the Kaigas and Nantuo glaciations are intermediate, even though the Nantuo was once rendered erratically deduced equatorial. 4Environmental factors influencing snowfall and snowfall prediction in the Tianshan Mountains, Northwest China显示文摘Snowfall is one of the dominant water resources in the mountainous regions and is closely related to the development of the local ecosystem and economy. Snowfall predication plays a critical role in understanding hydrological processes and forecasting natural disasters in the Tianshan Mountains, where meteorological stations are limited. Based on climatic, geographical and topographic variables at 27 meteorological stations during the cold season(October to April) from 1980 to 2015 in the Tianshan Mountains located in Xinjiang of Northwest China, we explored the potential influence of these variables on snowfall and predicted snowfall using two methods: multiple linear regression(MLR) model(a conventional measuring method) and random forest(RF) model(a non-parametric and non-linear machine learning algorithm). We identified the primary influencing factors of snowfall by ranking the importance of eight selected predictor variables based on the relative contribution of each variable in the two models. Model simulations were compared using different performance indices and the results showed that the RF model performed better than the MLR model, with a much higher R^2 value(R^2=0.74; R^2, coefficient of determination) and a lower bias error(RSR=0.51; RSR, the ratio of root mean square error to standard deviation of observed dataset). This indicates that the non-linear trend is more applicable for explaining the relationship between the selected predictor variables and snowfall. Relative humidity, temperature and longitude were identified as three of the most important variables influencing snowfall and snowfall prediction in both models, while elevation, aspect and latitude were of secondary importance, followed by slope and wind speed. 5Biofilm Microenvironment-Responsive Nanotheranostics for Dual-Mode Imaging and Hypoxia-Relief-Enhanced Photodynamic Therapy of Bacterial Infections显示文摘The formation of bacterial biofilms closely associates with infectious diseases.Until now,precise diagnosis and effective treatment of bacterial biofilm infections are still in great need.Herein,a novel multifunctional theranostic nanoplatform based on MnO_(2)nanosheets(MnO_(2)NSs)has been designed to achieve pH-responsive dual-mode imaging and hypoxia-relief-enhanced antimicrobial photodynamic therapy(aPDT)of bacterial biofilm infections.In this study,MnO_(2)NSs were modified with bovine serum albumin(BSA)and polyethylene glycol(PEG)and then loaded with chlorin e_(6)(Ce_(6))as photosensitizer to form MnO_(2)-BSA/PEG-Ce_(6)nanosheets(MBP-Ce_(6)NSs).After being delivered into the bacterial biofilm-infected tissues,the MBP-Ce_(6)NSs could be decomposed in acidic biofilm microenvironment and release Ce_(6)with Mn^(2+),which subsequently activate both fluorescence(FL)and magnetic resonance(MR)signals for effective dual-mode FL/MR imaging of bacterial biofilm infections.Meanwhile,MnO_(2)could catalyze the decomposing of H2O_(2)in biofilm-infected tissues into O_(2)and relieve the hypoxic condition of biofilm,which significantly enhances the efficacy of aPDT.An in vitro study showed that MBP-Ce_(6)NSs could significantly reduce the number of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA)in biofilms after 635nm laser irradiation.Guided by FL/MR imaging,MRSA biofilm-infected mice can be efficiently treated by MBP-Ce_(6)NSs-based aPDT.Overall,MBP-Ce_(6)NSs not only possess biofilm microenvironment-responsive dual-mode FL/MR imaging ability but also have significantly enhanced aPDT efficacy by relieving the hypoxia habitat of biofilm,which provides a promising theranostic nanoplatform for bacterial biofilm infections.Weijun Xiu Siyu Gan Qirui Wen Qiu Qiu Sulai Dai Heng Dong Qiang Li Lihui Yuwen Lixing Weng Zhaogang Teng Yongbin Mou Lianhui Wang 2020Research2020,,1:7
6Generalized Predictive Control for Superheated Steam Temperature Regulation in a Supercritical Coal-fired Power Plant显示文摘The design and implementation of a Generalized Predictive Control(GPC)strategy for the superheated steam temperature regulation in a supercritical(SC)coal-fired power plant is presented.A Controlled Auto-Regressive MovingAverage(CARMA)model of the plant is derived from using the experimental data to approximately predict the plant’s future behavior.This model is required by the GPC algorithm to calculate the future control inputs.A new GPC controller is designed and its performance is tested through extensive simulation studies.Compared with the performance of the plant using a conventional PID controller,the steam temperature controlled by the GPC controller is found to be more stable.The stable steam temperature leads to more efficient plant operation and energy saving,as demonstrated by the simulation results.Plant performance improvement is also tested while the plant experiences the load demand changes and disturbances resulting from the malfunctioning of coal mills.Mihai Draganescu Shen Guo Jacek Wojcik Jihong Wang Xiangjie Liu Guolian Hou Yali Xue Qirui Gao 2015CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems2015,1,1:7

8The Pre-Sturtian Negative δ^(13)C Excursion of the Dajiangbian Formation Deposited on the Western Margin of Cathaysia Block in South China显示文摘The Dajiangbian Formation in South China is a siliciclastic-dominated sedimentary succession with low-grade metamorphism deposited on the western margin of the Cathaysia Block, and is capped by a glaciogenic diamictite(the Sizhoushan Formation). The Sizhoushan glaciogenic strata can be attributed to the Jiangkou glacial(Sturtian glacial) episode as they share stratigraphic and lithological similarities with Jiangkou strata in South China. Some carbonate, chert and shale units throughout the upper part of the Dajiangbian Formation were sampled for carbonate carbon isotope(δ^(13)C_(carb)) and organic carbon isotope(δ^(13)C_(org)) analyses. A range of geochemical indices including oxygen isotopes(δ^(18)O) and Mn/Sr(Fe/Sr) ratios suggest that primary carbon isotope values were preserved in the upper Dajiangbian Formation. The upper Dajiangbian Formation shows δ^(13)C_(carb) of-0.1‰, upward decreasing towards to-5.4‰. We suggest that the negative δ^(13)C excursion beneath the Sizhoushan diamictite is correlative with the Pre-Sturtian Islay δ^(13)C_(carb) anomaly and allows correlation with the global Neoproterozoic isotope stratigraphy. 9Degradation of the Large Subunit of Ribulose-1, 5-Bisphosphate Carboxylase/Oxygenase in Wheat Leaves显示文摘The degradation of the large subunit (LSU) of ribulose- 1, 5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (Rubisco; EC 4.1.1.39) in wheat (Triticum aestivum L. cv. Yangmai 158) leaves was investigated. A 50 kDa fragment, a portion of the LSU of Rubisco, was detected by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and immunoblotting with antibody against tobacco Rubisco in crude enzyme extract of young wheat leaves. The appearance of the 50 kDa fragment was most obvious at 30-35 ℃ and pH 5.5. The LSU and its 50 kDa fragment both existed when the crude enzyme extract was incubated for 60 min. The amount of LSU decreased with incubation time from 0 to 3 h in crude enzyme extract. However, the 50 kDa fragment could not be found any pH from 4.5 to 8.5 in chloroplast lysates of young wheat leaves. 11Targeting a novel inducible GPX4 alternative isoform to alleviate ferroptosis and treat metabolic-associated fatty liver disease显示文摘Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD),which is previously known as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),represents a major health concern worldwide with limited therapy.Here,we provide evidence that ferroptosis,a novel form of regulated cell death characterized by iron-driven lipid peroxidation,was comprehensively activated in liver tissues from MAFLD patients.The canonical-GPX4(cGPX4),which is the most important negative controller of ferroptosis,is downregulated at protein but not mRNA level.Interestingly,a non-canonical GPX4 transcript-variant is induced(inducible-GPX4,iGPX4)in MAFLD condition.The high fat-fructose/sucrose diet(HFFD)and methionine/choline-deficient diet(MCD)-induced MAFLD pathologies,including hepatocellular ballooning,steatohepatitis andfibrosis,were attenuated and aggravated,respectively,in cGPX4-and iGPX4-knockin mice.cGPX4 and iGPX4 isoforms also displayed opposing effects on oxidative stress and ferroptosis in hepatocytes.Knockdown of iGPX4 by siRNA alleviated lipid stress,ferroptosis and cell injury.Mechanistically,the triggered iGPX4 interacts with cGPX4 to facilitate the transformation of cGPX4 from enzymatic-active monomer to enzymatic-inactive oligomers upon lipid stress,and thus promotes ferroptosis.Co-immunoprecipitation and nano LC–MS/MS analyses confirmed the interaction between iGPX4 and cGPX4.Our results reveal a detrimental role of non-canonical GPX4 isoform in ferroptosis,and indicate selectively targeting iGPX4 may be a promising therapeutic strategy for MAFLD.Jie Tong Dongjie Li Hongbo Meng Diyang Sun Xiuting Lan Min Ni Jiawei Ma Feiyan Zeng Sijia Sun Jiangtao Fu Guoqiang Li Qingxin Ji Guoyan Zhang Qirui Shen Yuanyuan Wang Jiahui Zhu Yi Zhao Xujie Wang Yi Liu Shenxi Ouyang Chunquan Sheng Fuming Shen Pei Wang 2022Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2022,12,9:3

13SP1 governs primordial folliculogenesis by regulating pregranulosa cell development in mice显示文摘Establishment of the primordial follicle(PF)pool is pivotal for the female reproductive lifespan;however,the mechanism of primordial folliculogenesis is poorly understood.Here,the transcription factor SP1 was shown to be essential for PF formation in mice.Our results showed that SP1 is present in both oocytes and somatic cells during PF formation in the ovary.Knockdown of Sp1 expression,especially in pregranulosa cells,significantly suppressed nest breakdown,oocyte apoptosis,and PF formation,suggesting that SP1 expressed by somatic cells functions in the process of primordial folliculogenesis.We further demonstrated that SP1 governs the recruitment and maintenance of Forkhead box L2-positive(FOXL2^+)pregranulosa cells using an Lgr5-EGFP-IRES-CreER^T2(Lgr5-KI)reporter mouse model and a FOXL2^+ cell-specific knockdown model.At the molecular level,SP1 functioned mainly through manipulation of NOTCH2 expression by binding directly to the promoter of the Notch2 gene.Finally,consistent with the critical role of granulosa cells in follicle survival in vitro,massive loss of oocytes in SP1 knockdown ovaries was evidenced before puberty after the ovaries were tranSP1anted under the renal capsules.Conclusively,our results reveal that SP1 controls the establishment of the ovarian reserve by regulating pregranulosa cell development in the mammalian ovary.Han Cai Bingying Liu Huarong Wang Guanghong Sun Lizhao Feng Ziqi Chen Jiaqi Zhou Jiawei Zhang Tuo Zhang Meina He Tingting Yang Qirui Guo Zhen Teng Qiliang Xin Bo Zhou Hua Zhang Guoliang Xia Chao Wang 2020Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2020,12,3:3

15Interacting plexcitons for designed ultrafast optical nonlinearity in a monolayer semiconductor显示文摘Searching for ideal materials with strong effective optical nonlinear responses is a long-term task enabling remarkable breakthroughs in contemporary quantum and nonlinear optics.Polaritons,hybridized light-matter quasiparticles,are an appealing candidate to realize such nonlinearities.Here,we explore a class of peculiar polaritons,named plasmon–exciton polaritons(plexcitons),in a hybrid system composed of silver nanodisk arrays and monolayer tungsten-disulfide(WS2),which shows giant room-temperature nonlinearity due to their deep-subwavelength localized nature.Specifically,comprehensive ultrafast pump–probe measurements reveal that plexciton nonlinearity is dominated by the saturation and higher-order excitation-induced dephasing interactions,rather than the well-known exchange interaction in traditional microcavity polaritons.Furthermore,we demonstrate this giant nonlinearity can be exploited to manipulate the ultrafast nonlinear absorption properties of the solid-state system.Our findings suggest that plexcitons are intrinsically strongly interacting,thereby pioneering new horizons for practical implementations such as energy-efficient ultrafast all-optical switching and information processing.Yuxiang Tang Yanbin Zhang Qirui Liu Ke Wei Xiang’ai Cheng Lei Shi Tian Jiang 2022Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,5:2
16Performance and uncertainty analysis of a short-term climate reconstruction based on multi-source data in the Tianshan Mountains region,China显示文摘Short-term climate reconstruction,i.e.,the reproduction of short-term(several decades)historical climatic time series based on the relationship between observed data and available longer-term reference data in a certain area,can extend the length of climatic time series and offset the shortage of observations.This can be used to assess regional climate change over a much longer time scale.Based on monthly grid climate data from a Coupled Model Inter-comparison Project phase 5(CMIP5)dataset for the period of 1850–2000,the Climatic Research Unit(CRU)dataset for the period of 1901–2000 and the observed data from 53 meteorological stations located in the Tianshan Mountains region(TMR)of China during the period of 1961–2011,we calibrated and validated monthly average temperature(MAT)and monthly accumulated precipitation(MAP)in the TMR using the delta,physical scaling(SP)and artificial neural network(ANN)methods.Performance and uncertainty during the calibration(1971–1999)and verification(1961–1970)periods were assessed and compared using traditional performance indices and a revised set pair analysis(RSPA)method.The calibration and verification processes were subjected to various sources of uncertainty due to the influence of different reconstructed variables,different data sources,and/or different methods used.According to traditional performance indices,both the CRU and CMIP5 datasets resulted in satisfactory calibrated and verified MAT time series at 53 meteorological stations and MAP time series at 20 meteorological stations using the delta and SP methods for the period of 1961–1999.However,the results differed from those obtained by the RSPA method.This showed that the CRU dataset produced a low degree of uncertainty(positive connection degree)during the calibration and verification of MAT using the delta and SP methods compared to the CMIP5 dataset.Overall,the calibrated and verified MAP had a high degree of uncertainty(negative connection degree)regardless of the dataset or reconstruction method used.Therefore,the reconstructed time series of MAT for the period of 1850(or 1901)–1960 based on the CRU and CMIP5 datasets using the delta and SP methods could be used for further study.The results of this study will be useful for short-term(several decades)regional climate reconstruction and longer-term(100 a or more)assessments of regional climate change.LI Xuemei Slobodan P SIMONOVIC LI Lanhai ZHANG Xueting QIN Qirui 2020Journal of Arid Land2020,12,3:2
17Pore Characteristics and Factors Controlling Lacustrine Shales from the Upper Cretaceous Qingshankou Formation of the Songliao Basin,Northeast China:A Study Combining SEM,Low-temperature Gas Adsorption and MICP Experiments显示文摘To investigate pore characteristics and the factors controlling lacustrine shales,geochemical,mineralogical and petrophysical experiments were performed on 23 shale samples from the Qingshankou Formation of the Songliao Basin,China.A comparison of mercury injection capillary pressure(MICP)and low-temperature N2 adsorption pore-size distribution showed that MICP has a higher pore-size distribution(PSD)line in its overlapping pore diameter range,which may be elevated by the higher pressure of MICP.Therefore,in the overlapping range,low-temperature N2 adsorption data were preferred in pore characterization.Negative correlations were observed between pore volumes and TOC content,indicating organic matter pores are not well-developed in the studied samples.This may be related to their low grade of maturity and type I kerogens.There existed negative relationships between pore volumes and S1,which illustrated that liquid hydrocarbons occupied some pore space.Micropore volume had a better correlation with S1 than mesopore and macropore volumes,which suggests that liquid hydrocarbons preferentially occur in micropores.No obvious relationships between pore volumes and quartz or feldspar were observed,while pore volumes increased with the increasing clay mineral content.These relationships indicate that intraparticle pores in clay minerals represent the principal pore type.HAN Hui DAI Jie GUO Chen ZHONG Ningning PANG Peng DING Zhengang CHEN Jianping HUANG Zhenkai GAO Yuan LUO Jinyu LI Qirui ZHANG Zhaokun 2021Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2021,95,2:2
