| 1 | Impact of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area on China's International Agricultural Trade and Its Regional Development显示文摘This study aims to examine the impact of the China–ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA) on China’s international agricultural trade and its regional agricultural development, using the Global Trade Analysis Project model and the China Agricultural Decision Support System. Our analysis showed that: (i) CAFTA will improve resource allocation efficiencies for both China and ASEAN and will promote bilateral agricultural trade and, hence, will have positive effects on the economic development of both sides; (ii) CAFTA will accelerate China’s export of the agricultural commodities in which it has comparative advantages, such as vegetables, wheat and horticultural products, but at the same time bring about a large increase in imports of commodities such as vegetable oil and sugar; and (iii) CAFTA will have significantly varying impacts on China’s regional agricultural development because of large differences in the agricultural production structure in each region. Our results indicate that agriculture in the northern, northeastern and eastern regions of China will benefit from CAFTA, whereas agriculture development in southern China will suffer. | 2 | Association of cystatin C level and cardiovascular prognosis for patients with preexisting coronary heart disease:a meta-analysis显示文摘The association of circulating levels of cystatin C(CysC)and risk of recurrent cardiovascular events in patients with preexisting coronary heart disease are uncertain.To qualitatively and quantitatively address this issue,we performed a random meta-analysis of results from prospective studies on the topic.We searched electronic and printed sources(up to 16 October 2011)using keywords and retrieved articles for seven prospective studies according to the selection criteria.Data were abstracted and meta-analysis was performed using the random-effects model(RevMan 5.0.23 software).The cohorts involved 4,576 patients with preexisting coronary heart disease(CHD)and normal or mild chronic kidney disease,and follow-up ranged from 5.6 to 40.6 months.Highest versus lowest baseline CysC level was significantly associated with increased risk of cardiovascular events(OR 2.30,95%CI 1.80–2.94),all-cause mortality(OR 5.69,95%CI 3.70–8.74),but not with recurrent MI(OR 1.75,95%CI 0.77–4.00).In heterogeneity testing for studies reporting cardiovascular events and all-cause mortality,no significant heterogeneity was found,and exclusion of any single study did not alter the overall finding.For risk of recurrent MI,significant heterogeneity was found among the five trials(v2=13.16,P=0.01,I2=70%)and exclusion of the Taglieri et al.[12]study from the analysis resulted in a rise in relative risk(OR 2.36,95%CI 1.09–5.15).In conclusion,for patients with established CHD,high baseline level of CysC is associated with increased risk of cardiovascular events and all-cause death during long-term follow-up. | Ruijian Li Panpan Hao Yuguo Chen Yun Zhang | 2014 | Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,5: | 8 |
| 3 | Expression of hypoxia inducible factor-1 alpha and ischemic erythropoietin tolerance in the brain of cerebral ischemic tolerance model rats显示文摘BACKGROUND: Hypoxia inducible factor-1 alpha (HIF-1 α) and erythropoietin(EPO), possessing neuroprotective effect in the cerebral ischemia, might play an important role in the formation of cerebral ischemic tolerance (IT). OBJECTIVE:To observe the neuroprotective effect of cerebral ischemic preconditioning(IPC) of rats, and the expression and mechanism of HIF-1α and target gene erythropoietin in the brain tissue following the formation of cerebral IT. DESIGN:A randomized and controlled observation. SETTING: Department of Neurology, the Affiliated Hospital of Medical College, Qingdao University. MATERIALS: Totally 84 enrolled adult healthy male Wistar rats of clean grade, weighing 250 to 300 g, were provided by the Animal Experimental Department, Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Ready-to-use SABC reagent kit and rabbit anti-rat HIF-1α monoclonal antibody were purchased from Boshide Bioengineering Co.Ltd (Wuhan); Rabbit anti-rat EPO monoclonal antibody was purchased from Santa Cruz Company (USA). METHODS: This experiment was carried out in the Department of Anatomy, Medical College, Qingdao University during March 2005 to March 2006. ① The 84 rats were divided into 3 groups by a lot: IPC group (n=40), sham-operation group (n=40) and control group (n=4). In the IPC group, middle cerebral artery was occluded for 2 hours respectively on the 1st, 3rd, 7th, 14th and 21st days of the reperfusion following 10-minute preischemia was made using a modified middle cerebral artery second suture method from Zea-Longa. The rats were sacrificed 22 hours after reperfusion in the end of middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO). That was to say, after 10-minute preischemia, suture was exited to the external carotid artery and embedded subcutaneously. Middle cerebral artery was occluded again to form the second reperfusion at the set time point after reperfusion. Twenty-two hours later, rats were sacrificed; In the sham-operation group,the preischemia was substituted by sham-operation(only common carotid artery and crotch were exposed, and MCAO by suture was omitted), and the other procedures were the same as those in the IPC group. In the control group, rats were given sham-operation twice at an interval of one day, and they were sacrificed 24 hours after the second sham-operation. ② Brain tissue was taken from the rats in each group. Cerebral infarction area of each layer was measured with TTC staining, and total cerebral infarction volume (The total cerebral infarction area of each layer×interspace ) was calculated. After brain tissue was stained by haematoxylin-esoin (HE), the form of nerve cells was observed under an optical microscope, and the expressions of HIF-1αand EPO protein in the brain tissue were detected with immunohistochemical method. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ①Cerebral infarction volume;②form of nerve cell; ③ the expression of HIF-1α and EPO protein in the brain tissue. RESULTS:Totally 84 rats were enrolled in the experiment. The dead rats were randomly supplied during the experiment, and finally 84 rats entered the stage of result analysis. ① Detection of cerebral infarction volume of rats in each group: Cerebral infarction volume in the IPC group was significantly smaller than that in the sham-operation group on the 1st, 3rd and 7th days after reperfusion respectively [(161.2±6.9) mm3 vs (219.9±11.2) mm3, (134.9±9.0) mm3 vs (218.6±13.0) mm3, (142.9±13.7) mm3 vs (221.3±14.2) mm3, t=8.924,10.587,7.947, P < 0.01]. ② Observation of nerve cell form of brain tissue: HE staining showed that the ischemic degree, range and cerebral edema degree of IPC group were significantly milder than those of sham-operation group. ③ The expressions of HIF-1α and EPO protein in cerebral cortex and hippocampus : The expression of HIF-1αof IPC group was significantly higher than that of sham-operation group on the 1st, 3rd and 7th days after reperfusion respectively (125.93±3.79 vs 117.65±5.60, 140.63±4.64 vs 119.33±4.26, 131.15±2.74 vs 107.60±3.89, t=2.449, 6.763,9.899,P < 0.05-0.01). The expression of EPO of IPC group was significantly higher than that of sham-operation group on the 3rd and 7th days after perfusion respectively (141.68±3.29 vs 126.33±4.51, 138.88±2.59 vs 125.58±6.18,t=5.499,3.970, P < 0.05). | 4 | Rapid assembling organ prototypes with controllable cell-laden multi-scale sheets显示文摘A native organ has heterogeneous structures, sirength, and cell components. It is a big challenge to fabricate organ prototypes with controllable shapes, strength, and cells. Herein, a hybrid method is developed to fabricate organ prototypes with controlled cell deposition by integrating extrusion-based 3D printing, electrospinning, and 3D bioprinting. Multi-scale sheets were first fabricated by 3D printing and electrospinning;then, all the sheets were assembled into organ prototypes by sol-gel react io n duri ng bioprinting. With this method, macroscale structures fabricated by 3D printing ensure the customized structures and provide mechanical support, nanoscale structures fabricated by electrospinning offer a favorable environment for cell growth, and different types of cells with controllable densities are deposited in accurate locations by bioprinting. The results show that L929 mouse fibroblasts encapsulated in the structures exhibited over 90% survival within 10 days and maintai ned a high proliferation rate. Furthermore, the cells grew in spherical shapes first and then migrated to the nano scale fibers showing stretched morphology. Additionally, a branched vascular structure was successfully fabricated using the presented method. | 15 | Spinel-type bimetal sulfides derived from Prussian blue analogues as efficient polysulfides mediators for lithium-sulfur batteries显示文摘More and more attentions have been attracted by lithium-sulfur batteries(Li-S), owing to the high energy density for the increasingly advanced energy storage system. While the poor cycling stability, due to the inherent polysulfide shuttle, seriously hampered their practical application. Recently, some polar hosts,like single metal oxides and sulfides, have been employed as hosts to interact with polysulfide intermediates. However, due to the inherent poor electrical conductivity of these polar hosts, a relatively low specific capacity is obtained. Herein, a spinel-type bimetal sulfide NiCo_(2)S_(4)through a Prussian blue analogue derived methodology is reported as the novel host of polysulfide, which enables highperformance sulfur cathode with high Coulombic efficiency and low capacity decay. Notably, the Li-S battery with NiCo_(2)S_(4)-S composites cathode still maintains a capacity of 667 m Ah/g at 0.5 Cafter 300 cycles, and 399 m Ah/g at 1 C after 300 cycles. Even after 300 cycles at the current density of 0.5C, the capacity decays by 0.138% per cycle at high sulfur loading about 3 mg/cm;. And the capacity decays by0.026% per cycle after 1000 cycles, when the rate is 1C. | 16 | Quaternary primary productivity in Porcupine Seabight,NE North Atlantic显示文摘Biogenic opal and calcium carbonate contents in the Quaternary fine-grained sediments in the deep sea coral mound area (Hole U1317E and Hole U1318B drilled by IODP Expedition 307) in Porcupine Seabight, southwest off Ireland, were measured to estimate the primary productivity (Pp) of the surface seawater in NE Atlantic. The results from the two holes commonly show relatively high Pp values of 10-30 g cm-2 ky-1, having stratigraphic cyclicity reversely correlated with the δ13C profile. The high Pp could be attributed to the oceanic setting controlled by the Eastern North Atlantic (Central) Water and Shelf Edge Current, which have been strongly influenced by the obliquity forcing of the Milankovitch cycle. A positive covariance was observed between high Pp and the mound development in U1317E, implying that the organic matter was the principal food source for the mound coral community. | 17 | Noncoaxial RDE of circular asymmetry optical vortex for rotating axis detection显示文摘We reveal the mechanism of the noncoaxial rotational Doppler effect(RDE) of an optical vortex and report its application in discriminating the orientation of the rotating axis of the rotating body. In most cases of the RDEbased measurement, the beam axis must be aligned with the rotating axis of the rotational body to observe a good signal. Once the beam axis is not coaxial with the rotating axis, the RDE frequency shift would change related to the misalignment distance, which can be called the noncoaxial RDE. Here, we take the advantage of the misaligned RDE augment with precise light-field modulation and successfully realize the discrimination of the orientation of the rotating axis relative to the illuminating beam. We clarify the principle of noncoaxial RDE and explain why the incomplete optical vortex(OV) is sensitive to the position of the rotating axis. We switch the OV field into four quadrants synchronized with sampling by the data acquisition system, and conduct Fourier transformation of the signals. Combined with the fitting algorithm, the orientation of the rotating axis can be recognized directly.
