| 2 | Reducing maize yield gap by matching plant density and solar radiation显示文摘Yield gap exists because the current attained actual grain yield cannot yet achieve the estimated yield potential. Chinese high yield maize belt has a wide span from east to west which results in different solar radiations between different regions and thus different grain yields. We used multi-site experimental data, surveyed farmer yield data, the highest recorded yield data in the literatures, and simulations with Hybrid-Maize Model to assess the yield gap and tried to reduce the yield gap by matching the solar radiation and plant density. The maize belt was divided into five regions from east to west according to distribution of accumulated solar radiation. The results showed that there were more than 5.8 Mg ha^(–1) yield gaps between surveyed farmer yield and the yield potential in different regions of China from east to west, which just achieved less than 65% of the yield potential. By analyzing the multi-site density experimental data, we found that the accumulated solar radiation was significantly correlated to optimum plant density which is the density with the highest yield in the multi-site density experiment(y=0.09895 x–32.49, P<0.01), according to which the optimum plant densities in different regions from east to west were calculated. It showed that the optimum plant density could be increased by 60.0, 55.2, 47.3, 84.8, and 59.6% compared to the actual density, the grain yield could be increased by 20.2, 18.3, 10.9, 18.1, and 15.3% through increasing plant density, which could reduce the yield gaps of 33.7, 23.0, 13.4, 17.3, and 10.4% in R(region)-1, R-2, R-3, R-4, and R-5, respectively. | 3 | Kernel position effects of grain morphological characteristics by X-ray micro-computed tomography (μCT)显示文摘Grain size and shape are important factors for yield and quality.The difference in grain phenotypic characteristics in the same maize hybrid is related to its position in the ear.This study aimed to clarify the distribution characteristics of grain morphological characteristics in the ear and to provide guidance for research of grain phenotype and kernel position effects.Three maize hybrids were used in the experiment,namely,Denghai 618(DH618),KX3564,and Xianyu 335(XY335),and the kernel number per row were 40,40,and 36,respectively.The X-rayμCT was applied to obtain five kernel morphological indicators,including grain length,width,thickness,volume,surface area.Grain sphericity,length-width ratio,specific surface area,and volume coefficient were further calculated.The results showed that there were three types of maize ear morphological indicators trends:grain length,width,volume,and surface area were parabolic;thickness and sphericity were inverted parabolic;length-to-width ratio and specific surface area were irregular.The volume coefficient of grain at different parts of the ear,namely the relation coefficient between grain volume and grain length,width,and thickness,was determined.The average value of the middle grains morphological indicators of the ear was taken to select kernels representing stable characteristics of the variety.Within the range of 5%deviation from the morphological mean value of the middle grains of the ear,the grains in the middle part accounted for 26.39%of the total ear,about 10 grains extending from the 14th grain at the base of the ear to the top.Within the range of 10%deviation,the middle accounted for 47.22%,about 18 grains extending from the 12th grain at the base of the ear to the top.This study found that grain morphological indicators were greatly different at different positions of the maize ear,and showed different change rules as extend from the base to the top of the ear.Therefore,there were different grain volume coefficients at different positions of maize ear.And the representative sampling range on maize ear was determined based on the comprehensive analysis of different morphological indexes variation of grain. | Xuebo Yin Junfeng Hou Bo Ming Ying Zhang Xinyu Guo Shang Gao Keru Wang Peng Hou Shaokun Li Ruizhi Xie | 2021 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2021,14,2: | 2 |

| 6 | Evaluation of grain breakage sensitivity of maize varieties mechanically-harvested by combine harvester显示文摘A high grain breakage rate is the main problem that occurs during mechanical maize harvest in China.The breakage sensitivity of different varieties was significantly different,and the breakage resistance is heritable.Therefore,breakage resistant variety screening can help improve the field production efficiency and provide references for breeding work.In this study,42 varieties of maize were harvested with the same mechanical parameters and the same manipulator on a range of harvest dates at experimental stations in Xinxiang,Henan Province,in 2017 and Changji,Xinjiang Province,in 2018 to determine the sensitivity of grain moisture content on grain breakage rate during machine harvest for different varieties.The integral value of the grain breakage rate curve corresponding to the range of 15%to 30%grain moisture content was used as an index that expressed the sensitivity of maize grains to breakage depending on grain moisture content(BSW).Forty-two varieties were categorized as having weak,intermediate,or strong BSW.Among the same four varieties in the two stations,Lianchuang 825 and Lianchuang 808 were classified as sensitive and fragile varieties,Shandan 650 was classified as an intermediate variety,Zeyu 8911 was divided into weak sensitive and breakage-resistance varieties in Xinxiang and intermediate varieties in Changji.The BSW classification results at the two experimental sites were generally consistent,indicating that breakage sensitivity due to moisture content may be a relatively stable genetic characteristic.This study suggested that the integral method for determining BSW can be used to assess the resistance of different maize varieties to grain breakage during mechanical harvesting.The integral method was used to identify twelve breakage-resistant varieties in Xinxiang Station,and six breakage-resistant varieties in Changji Station.This study provides a method for screening maize varieties that are suited to mechanical grain harvesting and for studying the mechanisms of grain breakage resistance. | Yizhou Wang Lulu Li Shang Gao Yanan Guo Guoqiang Zhang Bo Ming Ruizhi Xie Jun Xue Peng Hou Keru Wang Shaokun Li | 2020 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2020,13,5: | 1 |

| 9 | An optimal design of the broadcast ephemeris for LEO navigation augmentation systems显示文摘As the deployment of large Low Earth Orbiters(LEO)communication constellations,navigation from the LEO satellites becomes an emerging opportunity to enhance the existing satellite navigation systems.The LEO navigation augmentation(LEO-NA)systems require a centimeter to decimeter accuracy broadcast ephemeris to support high accuracy positioning applications.Thus,how to design the broadcast ephemeris becomes the key issue for the LEO-NA systems.In this paper,the temporal variation characteristics of the LEO orbit elements were analyzed via a spectrum analysis.A non-singular element set for orbit fitting was introduced to overcome the potential singularity problem of the LEO orbits.Based on the orbit characteristics,a few new parameters were introduced into the classical 16 parameter ephemeris set to improve the LEO orbit fitting accuracy.In order to identify the optimal parameter set,different parameter sets were tested and compared and the 21 parameters data set was recommended to make an optimal balance between the orbit accuracy and the bandwidth requirements.Considering the real-time broadcast ephemeris generation procedure,the performance of the LEO ephemeris based on the predicted orbit is also investigated.The performance of the proposed ephemeris set was evaluated with four in-orbit LEO satellites and the results indicate the proposed 21 parameter schemes improve the fitting accuracy by 87.4%subject to the 16 parameters scheme.The accuracy for the predicted LEO ephemeris is strongly dependent on the orbit altitude.For these LEO satellites operating higher than 500 km,10 cm signal-in-space ranging error(SISRE)is achievable for over 20 min prediction. | Xueli Guo Lei Wang Wenju Fu Yingbo Suo Ruizhi Chen Hongxing Sun | 2022 | Geo-Spatial Information Science2022,25,1: | 1 |

Minocycline is lipophilic, can pass through the BBB, and shows anti-inflammatory effects in models of central nervous system disease. We found that minocycline application at 6 hours after intracerebral hemorrhage reduced BBB permeability, decreased vascular endothelial growth factor expression, and increased nerve growth factor and heat shock protein 70 expression, primarily in neurons and microglia. | 17 | Laboratory and numerical modelling of irrigation infiltration and nitrogen leaching in homogeneous soils显示文摘Nitrogen (N) plays a key role in crop growth and production;however,data are lacking especially regarding the interaction of biochar,grass cover,and irrigation on N leaching in saturated soil profiles.Eighteen soil columns with 20-cm diameter and 60-cm height were designed to characterize the effects of different grass cover and biochar combinations,i.e.,bare soil+0%biochar (control,CK),perennial ryegrass+0%biochar (C1),Festuca arundinacea+0%biochar (C2),perennial ryegrass+1%biochar (C3),perennial ryegrass+2%biochar (C4),perennial ryegrass+3%biochar (C5),F.arundinacea+1%biochar (C6),F.arundinacea+2% biochar (C7),and F.arundinacea+3%biochar (C8),on periodic irrigation infiltration and N leaching in homogeneous loess soils from July to December 2020.Leachates in CK were 10.2%–35.3%higher than those in C1 and C2.Both perennial ryegrass and F.arundinacea decreased the volumes of leachates and delayed the leaching process in the 1%,2%,and 3%biochar treatments,and the vertical leaching rate decreased with biochar addition.The N leaching losses were concentrated in the first few leaching tests,and both total N (TN) and nitrate (NO_(3)^(-))-N concentrations in CK and C1–C8 decreased with increasing leaching test times.Biochar addition (1%,2%,and 3%) could further reduce the leaching risk of NO_(3)^(-)-N and the NO_(3)^(-)-N loss decreased with biochar addition.However,compared to 1%biochar,2% biochar promoted the leaching of TN under both grass cover types.The N leaching losses in CK,C1,C2,C3,C4,C6,and C7 were primarily in the form of NO_(3)^(-)-N.Among these treatments,CK,C1,and C2had the highest cumulative leaching fractions NO_(3)^(-)-N (>90%),followed by those in C3,C4,C6,and C7 (>80%).The cumulative leaching fraction of NO_(3)^(-)-N decreased with increasing leaching test times and biochar addition,and 3%biochar addition (i.e.,C5 and C8) reduced it to approximately 50%.The one-dimensional advective-dispersive-reactive transport equation can be used as an effective numerical approach to simulate and predict NO_(3)^(-)-N leaching in saturated homogeneous soils.Understanding the effects of different biochar and grass combinations on N leaching can help us design environmentally friendly interventions to manage irrigated farming ecosystems and reduce N leaching into groundwater. | Lei WU Ruizhi LI Yan WANG Zongjun GUO Jiaheng LI Hang YANG Xiaoyi MA | 2024 | Pedosphere2024,34,1: | 0 |
