| 1 | Defective arginine metabolism impairs mitochondrial homeostasis in Caenorhabditis elegans显示文摘Arginine catabolism involves enzyme-dependent reactions in both mitochondria and the cytosol,defects in which may lead to hyperargininemia,a devastating developmental disorder.It is largely unknown if defective arginine catabolism has any effects on mitochondria.Here we report that normal arginine catabolism is essential for mitochondrial homeostasis in Caenorhabditis elegans.Mutations of the arginase gene argn-1 lead to abnormal mitochondrial enlargement and reduced adenosine triphosphate(ATP)production in C elegans hypodermal cells.ARGN-1 localizes to mitochondria and its loss causes arginine accumulation,which disrupts mitochondrial dynamics.Heterologous expression of human ARGl or ARG2 rescued the mitochondrial defects of argn-1 mutants.Importantly,genetic inactivation of the mitochondrial basic amino acid transporter SLC-25A29 or the mitochondrial glutamate transporter SLC-25A18.1 fully suppressed the mitochondrial defects caused by argn-1 mutations.These findings suggest that mitochondrial damage probably contributes to the pathogenesis of hyperargininemia and provide clues for developing therapeutic treatments for hyperargininemia. | Ruofeng Tang Xin Wang Junxiang Zhou Fengxia Zhang Shan Zhao Qiwen Gan Liyuan Zhao Fengyang Wang Qian Zhang Jie Zhang Guodong Wang Chonglin Yang | 2020 | Journal of Genetics and Genomics2020,47,3: | 2 |
| 2 | Much enhanced electromagnetic wave absorbing properties from the synergistic effect of graphene/γ-graphyne heterostructure in both gigahertz and terahertz band ranges显示文摘Exploring advanced electromagnetic wave(EMW)absorbers is one of the most feasible ways to solve the increasing electromagnetic pollution in both military and civil fields.In this work,γ-graphyne(γ-GY)is synthesized by a mechanochemical route using CaC2 and hexabromobenzene(PhBr6).Then three-dimensional(3D)reduced graphene oxide/γ-GY(RGO/GY)heterostructures are prepared through facile solvothermal self-assembly and subsequent thermal reduction.The influences of calcination temperature and the content ofγ-GY of the composite on EMW absorption performance are fully investigated.The minimum reflection loss(RL)value of the RGO/GY composite foam is−71.73 dB at 10.48 GHz with the matching thickness of 3.54 mm,and the effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)less than−10 dB is 7.36 GHz.Moreover,excellent terahertz(THz)absorption property is also obtained at 0.2–1.6 THz.The RL of 84.08 dB is acquired,and the EAB covers 100%of the entire measured bandwidth.In addition,the composite is also a promising anticorrosive EMW absorber.This work provides encouraging findings,which are also instructive for the potential advantages of graphyne-based materials as highly efficient EMW absorbers in both gigahertz and terahertz band ranges. | Zhiwei Zhang Zhuo Li Lun Xia Ruofeng Wang Yishu Cao Zheng Cheng Yi Huang | 2023 | Nano Research2023,16,1: | 2 |

| 5 | Precise regulation of the phase transformation for pyrolusite during the reduction roasting process显示文摘The mechanism involved in the phase transformation process of pyrolusite (MnO_(2)) during roasting in a reducing atmosphere was systematically elucidated in this study,with the aim of effectively using low-grade complex manganese ore resources.According to single-factor experiment results,the roasted product with a divalent manganese (Mn^(2+)) distribution rate of 95.30% was obtained at a roasting time of 25 min,a roasting temperature of 700℃,a CO concentration of 20at%,and a total gas volume of 500 mL·min^(-1),in which the manganese was mainly in the form of manganosite (MnO).Scanning electron microscopy and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller theory demonstrated the microstructural evolution of the roasted product and the gradual reduction in the pyrolusite ore from the surface to the core Thermodynamic calculations,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,and X-ray diffractometry analyses determined that the phase transformation of pyrolusite followed the order of MnO_(2)→Mn_(2)O_(3)→Mn_(3)O_(4)→MnO phase by phase,and the reduction of manganese oxides in each valence state proceeded simultaneously. | Ruofeng Wang Peng Gao Shuai Yuan Yanjun Li Yingzhi Liu Cheng Huang | 2024 | International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2024,31,1: | 0 |

| 7 | Efficient and robust strain limiting and treatment of simultaneous collisions with semidefinite programming显示文摘We present an efficient and robust method which performs well for both strain limiting and treatment of simultaneous collisions. Our method formulates strain constraints and collision constraints as a serial of linear matrix inequalities(LMIs)and linear polynomial inequalities(LPIs), and solves an optimization problem with standard convex semidefinite programming solvers. When performing strain limiting, our method acts on strain tensors to constrain the singular values of the deformation gradient matrix in a specified interval. Our method can be applied to both triangular surface meshes and tetrahedral volume meshes. Compared with prior strain limiting methods, our method converges much faster and guarantees triangle flipping does not occur when applied to a triangular mesh. | 8 | A pair of transporters controls mitochondrial Zn^(2+) levels to maintain mitochondrial homeostasis显示文摘Zn^(2+)is required for the activity of many mitochondrial proteins,which regulate mitochondrial dynamics,apoptosis and mitophagy.However,it is not understood how the proper mitochondrial Zn^(2+)level is achieved to maintain mitochondrial homeostasis.Using Caenorhabditis elegans,we reveal here that a pair of mitochondrion-localized transporters controls the mitochondrial level of Zn^(2+).We demonstrate that SLC-30A9/ZnT9 is a mitochondrial Zn^(2+)exporter.Loss of SLC-30A9 leads to mitochondrial Zn^(2+)accumulation,which damages mitochondria,impairs animal development and shortens the life span.We further identify SLC-25A25/SCaMC-2 as an important regulator of mitochondrial Zn^(2+)import.Loss of SLC-25A25 suppresses the abnormal mitochondrial Zn^(2+)accumulation and defective mitochondrial structure and functions caused by loss of SLC-30A9.Moreover,we reveal that the endoplasmic reticulum contains the Zn^(2+)pool from which mitochondrial Zn^(2+)is imported.These findings establish the molecular basis for controlling the correct mitochondrial levels for normal mitochondrial structure and functions. | Tengfei Ma Liyuan Zhao Jie Zhang Ruofeng Tang Xin Wang Nan Liu Qian Zhang Fengyang Wang Meijiao Li Qian Shan Yang Yang Qiuyuan Yin Limei Yang Qiwen Gan Chonglin Yang | 2022 | Protein & Cell2022,13,3: | 0 |
